Chicken Tikka Masala. The sauce was very watery.
    Diana G.

I've eaten at Tandoori Bites in person before, the food was wonderful and I had a great experience. Today I got my food delivered and unfortunately it was very mediocre. The curry for the Chicken Tikka Masala was extremely watery and lacked flavor/spice, I'm used to it being much thicker and creamier. Also, the chicken in the Tikka Masala was quite dry. The Bread Basket was fine and had plenty of pieces. The Chicken 65 had a pleasantly spicy flavor and was my favorite dish of this order. I'll never order delivery, takeout, or Chicken Tikka Masala from here again, but I do want to give them another shot in person!

Atmosphere: Tandoori Bites has a dark and cool interior. When we went on a Thursday dinner and there was no wait. Service: Our food came out quickly, and our servers were attentive throughout our meal. Food: We ordered the Mango Lassi, Fish Vindaloo, Chicken Korma, and Garlic Naan. The Mango Lassi was still a fruity and refreshing treat before our meal. The Fish Vindaloo was very flavorful, and the fish was soft and light. Our one complaint was that the sauce was rather acidic and tomato-like for our taste and overpowered the flavor of the fish. The Chicken Korma was creamy with a decent number of tender chicken bites. Overall: We enjoyed our first time at Tandoori Bites. The Mango Lassi and Chicken Korma were both very good, and while we did enjoy the Fish Vindaloo, we might opt to try a different dish next time!

My sister and I order out from Tandoori Bites pretty frequently. We've tried the chicken tikka masala and korma. Both are very flavorful and delicious. Not the best, over-the-top Indian food that I've had, but it always hits the spot. Delivery is always good and on time. We come back several times for the convenient location and fair pricing.

The food we had from Tandoori Bites in Durham ranged from OK to great. Overall, we thought both the food and service were very good. I recommend this place if you're looking for tasty Indian food near the Durham-Chapel Hill border. Currently, this is the third and newest location of Tandoori Bites. You can find it just off I-40 exit 270 at US 15 / US 501. The restaurant is hidden from street view. You'll have to drive into the shopping center, Indigo Corners, to find it. It's a couple doors down from Play It Again Sports. This location opened in October 2019. The space was completely renovated for the restaurant and, during my visit, it still looked brand new. I'm guessing less dine-in traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic has helped keep the dining room looking fresh. There were some dine-in customers during my Tuesday night visit and takeout business was steady. The dining room was nice and elegant. There was red and purple ambient lighting, almost like a club/lounge look at night. There was a bar in the back and that's where takeout orders were picked up. Inside, the dining room was divided into three sections, all with a variety of tables and booths. The back corner is where they serve (or served) their lunch buffet. They also have a semi-enclosed patio outside, decorated with string lights, and uncovered, though they did have table umbrellas. I ordered online through Tandoori Bites' website (https://tandooribites.net/). They used EatStax for online ordering and I had no issues placing my order. It was fast and easy. I was given an estimated 20-minute pickup time and that estimate was pretty much spot-on. Here's what I ordered for my wife and me: * Tandoori Lamb Chops ($24) - ginger, roasted garlic, tandoori masala * Palak Paneer ($13) - spinach cooked with fresh homemade cheese * Chicken Biryani ($14) - chunks of chicken cooked in basmati rice with nuts and spices * Garlic Naan (2 slices for $3) * Onion Kulcha (2 slices for $3) * Raita ($3) * Ras Malai ($4) - creamy and milky syrup with chhena (cottage cheese) balls; syrup made from milk, sugar, cream, and saffron mixture The above descriptions are from the restaurant menu. I think the menu descriptions should be improved. Some of the item descriptions were cut-off or non-existent. Others were confusing, like the Tandoori Lamb Chops. There was another dish on the menu called Tandoori Lamb Chop Masala ($20), described as "cooked in a rich and creamy tomato sauce with onions and pepper medley." It sounds like exactly what we got, except I paid $4 more. Out of the dishes we tried, we liked the Tandoori Lamb Chops the least. It was OK. In reality, the lamb chops didn't look as big nor as thick as those pictured on the menu online. While the dish wasn't bad, it wasn't nearly as appetizing as the other dishes. Based on the menu descriptions, I think we actually got the "Tandoori Lamb Chop Masala" instead of the "Tandoori Lamb Chops" and paid a premium for it, but I could be wrong. There were plenty of grilled onions and peppers in our dish and I'm not sure I tasted any ginger nor garlic. For the price paid ($24) compared to what little meat there was on the bones (I think there were four chops total), I can't recommend this dish. I do recommend everything else we got. The Chicken Biryani, simply put, was comfort food. It was extremely flavorful, packed with lots of spices and seasonings. A couple criticisms about the biryani: (1) It was too salty. (2) There was no egg. Not among the best biryani we've had, but still good. I'd order it again. It was filling and satisfying. I overlooked the fine print on the menu that said all biryani dishes were served with raita (yogurt sauce). Otherwise, I wouldn't have ordered the extra raita. Palak Paneer is one of my all-time favorite Indian vegetarian dishes and the version we had from Tandoori Bites was excellent. It was creamy and delicious, full of flavor. Terrific with plain white basmati rice (two boxes were included with our order) and naan. There was hardly a difference between the Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha. I was expecting two different types of bread, but they were the same. The only difference was the Onion Kulcha had bits of onion cooked on the inside of the bread and the Garlic Naan was herbed. Curious, but not a big deal as both flatbreads were tasty. They went well with everything and even tasted yummy by themselves. Each order consisted of one large slice cut in half (two pieces). Both the naan and kulcha were baked fresh, served warm, and had appetizing, springy consistencies. My wife and I enjoyed the Ras Malai. I don't think I've ever had bad Ras Malai anywhere. I love sweet and creamy desserts and this one fits the bill. One order from Tandoori Bites consists of two pieces of chhena in cream. It's not listed on the menu, but I think cardamom is an ingredient too. Really good stuff. I recommend saving room for dessert and ordering some. The food was high in sodium and left us parched.

When I tell yall I have been CRAVING Indian food! This place hit the spot. First walking into the establishment, it is such a beautiful setting with the tables and the pretty light fixtures and it is very clean. Our waitress was very helpful explaining certain ingredients and dishes to us. My friend got mango Lassi and I tried it. Omg it was delicious. It pretty tasted like a mango smoothie but smoother with more of a yogurt consistency. It is a must get if you go to an Indian restaurant. Only down side is that it was $4 for the size glass it was in. We ordered lamb samosas, butter chicken, goat biryani and garlic Naan. The lamb samosas were a little dry but the seasoning was flavorful and the sauce it came with was tangy and definitely helped the dryness of the meat. I'd still get it again because it was that good and meaty. They did not skimp out! The butter chicken was chefs kiss I just wish they gave more chicken ! It literally was a bowl full of sauce and maybe like 6 pieces of chicken. We need more chicken! The butter sauce was creamy, perfect amount of spicy for me and the chicken wasn't overcooked. With the garlic Naan and the biryani it was so amazing. For the amount of chicken we got though, it wasn't worth $17. Now the star of the night, I believe was the goat biryani. The spices of the rice with the goat meat just melted in my mouth and it paired so perfectly with the garlic Naan. Now I mixed mine with the butter sauce and I just think I can't have one without the other now. It was everything I hoped it would be. The Naan was thin, fluffy and soft and the perfect scoop for my food. I don't know much I ate, but to have a cheat meal, this was heaven. I'd definitely check them out if you're in Durham off 15 501.

I had a lunch special, the Non-Vegetarian Thali, which came with a Vegetable Samosa, Dal Bukhara, Butter Chicken, Butter Naan, Rice, Raita, and a Gulab Jamun. This is the first time I've had a Thali and the presentation was beautiful. Vegetable Samosa: Perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. Mild spicy. Dal Bukhara: Delicious lentil curry! I've never had this before (I usually get Dal Makhani), and I now know I prefer Dal Bukhara because it has lentils only. Butter Chicken: Delicious curry. I loved the smoky flavor and char on the chicken. The curry was perfectly spicy (I ordered medium spicy). The butter naan, rice, and raita were all good in supporting the dish. Gulab Jamun: A delicious sweet doughnut in syrup, a nice little treat before leaving the restaurant. The lunch Non-Veg Thali is a great deal at $24, especially for the amount of food you get (I ended up with leftovers too). I can't wait to come back and try their dinner and bar offerings!

We were seated immediately and ordered drinks which were out promptly. Jaljeera, wine and the cocktail urban turban special. I loved my jaljeera, perfect sweet and tangy spicy flavour. For starters we ordered chicken chapli kabab, tandoori fish tikka and dahi ke kabab. Dahi kebab was the winner, it was crispy and soft and went perfectly well with its sweet gravy which was good twist to this simple appetizer. My second favorite was the chapli kabab, it was so soft and juicy and very light on spice. Their fish dishes were a little disappointing, I guess the fish and preparation both were not impressive. For main course we ordered their malabar fish curry which again was a disappointment, punjabi chicken curry which was pretty good, but the daal bukhara stole our hearts, very well prepared and flavourful dish. We couldn't stop ourselves from ordering some desserts, so we ordered their balu shahi with Rabri and gulab jamun with icecream. Rabri was great, but balushahi was big, seemed undercooked and bland. It's very difficult to mess up gulab jamun so that was good. The service was fast and the people were so friendly. We paid tip over the bill that already had gratuity included since we dint know, and the person came back with money and returned it saying the gratuity is included. We loved the honesty and warm gesture of the people working there. I am really looking forward to visiting this place again soon and trying their other dishes.

I was not in a hurry but they could stand to hire some help. Their menu included a chole bhature, and they did a very credible rendition. Even at a medium spice level, it hit noticeably. More importantly, my fried bread and chickpeas came with pickled sides that made for a great flavor contrast in addition to the zingy herbal chickpea curry. I experienced no disappointment in what I ordered. Their menu includes markings for vegan and gf concerns, and their open kitchen offers to customize orders as needed. I also received an excellent papadum set to start with no fewer than six accompaniments. I was a bit surprised their menu didn't include anything in the way of a light soup or salad, mostly heavy comfort food. Having said that, I think they're doing a solid job and will likely be busy when the university is in season.

They brought us out some (I think) roti (crispy thin flat bread) with three different dipping sauces. A cilantro mint, a charred pepper, and a brown sauce. All pretty good. I ordered the Mulligatawny Soup and the Veggie Platter while my friend got the Chicken Tikka with a garden salad. The soup was just okay. It seemed to be very lacking in flavor at the restaurant. I took the rest of it home and ate it a couple of days later and it was much tastier. I guess it just need time for all the flavors to meld, I don't know. But the veggie platter was phenomenal. My favorites were the samosas (of course!) and the veg pakora. I would highly recommend those. My friend said her chicken tikka was just mid. Her garden salad was big and looked fresh and delicious. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the service either. The waiters constantly refilled our waters and the wait time was not long. They didn't even rush us when we spent an hour and a half at the table. The only reason this is a four and not a five is that there are other Indian restaurants close in this area that I enjoy the food more.
