I have long bemoaned the fact that the choices for Indian cuisine in Durham/Chapel Hill were middle of the road, at best. And now a wonderful new spot has opened up just down the road from me. I think most of their business is take-out and Grubhub, but the inside of the restaurant is very nice and the staff couldn't be more pleasant. They have a full bar and a very extensive menu. My favorites so far are the lamb tikka masala (entree) and the mango pineapple shirmp (appetizer). I've also had the goat rogan josh, which was very tender but the goat comes bone-in with that dish so I may try the vindaloo next. The samosas are terrific as well, and I really like their rosemary naan. [Note: I've only eaten from there in the evening, so I haven't done the lunch buffet.] The evening menu is quite extensive and I look forward to working my way through it. We came here around 9 and the place closes at 10. We were seated pretty fast, but the waitress/owner I believe wanted us to order ASAP like.... Right after we were seated. It was our first time here, we didn't even have the time to check the menu .... Idk bro y'all still have an hr before closing itsnot like we came in at 9:45... the butter chicken we ordered was kinda too soupy. Food was okay. Service wasn't too pleasant. Came here for Valentine's Day, and the service was amazing! The server checked on us frequently to make sure we were enjoying our night, and brought me yogurt sauce when she saw how much I was sweating from the spice. Another server brought a heart balloon to a toddler at the next table. Cute! The food was delicious. We had the chicken tikka masala, the lamb boti kabob, and garlic naan. The Good: I ordered their special Biryani with Shrimp, chicken and lamb. The portion is huge and stretched it out to three meals. Their Naan was also very good. I ordered online through Grub Hub via Yelp and the order was right on time for my takeout visit. The Just O.K: I would have liked more of the shrimp, chicken and lamb, but I know how that goes. More rice , less good stuff. The flavor was ok, but not anything crazy good. I am thinking I just ordered the wrong dish (this was my first visit). They are called "Tandoori Bites" after all and not "Biryani Bites". Went to this restaurant while visiting my son and when I walked in to the bar and ordered I was told it will be about 25-30 minutes. Server was very nice but, the manager came over and asked me to move to the other end of the bar. I finally got my food an hour later it was really late and I was very hungry. I felt like they should've offered me bread or something while I was waiting. I only had a vegetable dish and they could've worked out in before a big party of about 12. We have been coming to Tandoori Bites biweekly since we moved to Durham. When we have friends in town, this is our go-to. They serve the best butter chicken we've had, and they've never disappointed with other dishes. Some highlights are the chicken palak and the chicken madras. Our friends get extremely spicy food, and when you ask them for spicy, they won't hold back. We usually get mild, for reference. Their mango lassi is awesome as well. A little thing - their rice has a pleasant flavor on its own. Extra bonus. read more

The staff, range of meals, and taste seemed to cater to non-Indians. Although the service was prompt, I sensed a bias against non-Indians. This is our favorite local Indian. All around best flavors in both meat and veggie dishes. Only negative is the very small amount of chicken you receive (6-7 chunks) for the price. This seems common around Durham though. We'll continue to come here because our at home Indian just isn't as tasty! read more

Great food! We were a little concerned because some of the reviews mentioned them not wearing masks, but we didn't find that to be the case. Social distancing was fine, and mask wearing was definitely happening among any staff we saw. They also appear to have outdoor seating - though it was quiet enough inside that we chose a booth instead. We ordered both the vegetable and cheese pakora to start, and I loved the dipping sauce that came with it. We then got the Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Tandoori mixed grill and the Tandoori chicken. I got mine medium while everyone else got it mild, and it seemed perfect for all of us. And the bread basket was awesome, garlic naan is my go-to but all of it was delicious. All in all an excellent option, just wish they were closer to where we lived so we could get takeout from there all the time! read more

If you want to try some tasty Indian food, get the bhaigan bharta (eggplant) and butter chicken. I get both mild. Way more delicious and less pricy than some other Durham establishments in downtown. After reading many good reviews we wanted to try Indian closer to home (we usually frequent Azitra in Raleigh). We ordered takeout. We ate it immediately, seated on the patio outside the restaurant. Even though it was literally just 2 minutes between pickup and eating, we could barely eat it. The food was pretty obviously reheated and quite rubbery. We threw away most of our $30+ order. I know takeout is rarely as good as in-house dining but when it's this bad there's no reason to try again. read more

If you blink, you'll miss Tandoori bites which sits at the corner of an unassuming shopping and restaurant complex in New Hope Commons. Working against some deadlines and wanting takeout, we ordered from Tandoori bites since it had just opened and we wanted to try it out. I'm so glad we did! The food was unreal. The spinach chaat appetizer blew our minds - our favorite dish at Rasika in DC is the palak chaat and I dare say, this one is better! It was so amazingly flavorful. Next time I'm just ordered that with naan so I can eat the whole thing. I had the bhindi masala which was flavorful and at mild just had a touch of spice to keep it interesting. The garlic naan was so buttery and flavorful. We got two orders but couldn't finish it all! (And we really love naan.) my husband got the chicken tikka masala and loved it too. Ordering online was super easy and it was ready for pickup in twenty minutes. I regretted not being able to sit down to eat because the inside decor is really cute and the waitstaff was so friendly when I picked up my order. We will be back! read more

Tandoori Bites is the best new Indian place in the area, hands down! I've been the past two weeks and have been blown away by the quality and selection of food they have. Staff and service are friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is casual but refined, and the overall meal experience is great. I can't say enough about how good the curry selections are and the chicken vindaloo and paneer tikka are incredible. I used to travel to India for work and this reminded me of "home away from home" overseas. The warm and inviting atmosphere, along with Bollywood movies on screen, are the perfect reminder and depiction of the wonderful country of India. Tandoori Bites is absolutely a must-visit, and I look forward to going there many times in the future. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine, you need to stop by some point soon. read more

Gosh, it's been awhile since I've been able to give s positive review so I'm thrilled to be able to do so for this restaurant. The number of Indian restaurants have surged as of late and many of them fall short and have left me disappointed but Tandoori Bites is definitely the exception. The food is nicely prepared with detail to seasoning and authenticity. I love all their vegetarian items particularly the palak paneer. I haven't done their buffet but it's encouraging to see they have separate tables for meat and non meat dishes. I took off a star because the price is higher than most other places but given the locale and restaurant presence, I do think the prices are inflated. read more

This upscale-in-appearance Indian restaurant serves a perfectly fine lunch buffet where you'll find the usual suspects plus quite a lot more. Sure, there's chicken tikka masala with raita, naan, salad for starters and golab jamun for afters, but you'll also get palak paneer, chana masala, chicken tandoori, and another half dozen entree selections. My large order was ready for take out in 15 minutes. Sometimes that's not a good sign. But the chicken biriyani, South Indian chicken curry and naan were all deliciously fresh. Came here for weekend lunch buffet. Overall, this is relatively mediocre, especially when comparing to all the other similar options within driving distance. They had a goat and lamb curry, which were both underwhelming. They were relatively mild in terms of seasoning and spices. It seems more dialed down to appease a more generic crowd. Their biryani was also under species and tasted quite blend. Their chutney was actually quite good but the other vegetarian dishes were hit and miss. The butter paneer and butter chicken could be more buttery and rich. When it comes to Indian food, I expect lots of spices, exotic and powerful flavors. One of the best restaurants in the Triangle. The service is not only impeccable but friendly. It feels like a family restaurant even though everything inside is shiny and new. The interior is very clean and filled with great lighting and even better scents of spices. The food itself is pretty perfect. Sadly I've not been able to change what I order from them because their chicken tikka is so good why risk it? Seriously though everything is really good. Best Indian food around, hands down. My boyfriend and I have gone pretty much once a week since their opening. the lamb chops are absolutely fantastic. We got them with the medium heat sauce and they were perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and had a wonderful amount of heat behind them. The garlic naan is absolutely delicious as well. Really great flavors and tastes very fresh. We've gotten both the chicken and the lamb curry, as well and they were both amazing. Very traditional and full of flavor.
