The service was excellent. I requested some goat biryani which wasn't on the menu presented to us, but I had seen it on an older menu online. Our host said she'd check with the chef and was able accommodate the request! My wife ordered saag paneer ( they served a side of plain white rice with it) and naan. When the goat biryani came out it exceeded my expectations. Pro tip - if you have a medium tolerance to spicy food order the mild version of the biryani, as the medium is quite spicy! This was hands down the worst takeout experience I have ever had. Beware -- these guys are scammers. The food took more than an hour to prepare. They omitted food from our order, and gave us less food than what we ordered, and also didn't give us the ice tea we ordered, giving us 2 portions instead of the 3 we ordered. We ordered 2 curries (Tikka and Vindaloo), veggie pakora, garlic naan, and rice. The serving sizes are slightly misleading, but in a good way! The dishes seemed to make the curries look small, but if you don't try to only eat the protein, and eat the whole dish (curry and meat/veggies) it's relatively filling. Flavor wise everything was relatively flavorful. The Vindaloo was spicier than the Tikka (no spice there) but not very spicy at all. I'd say no spicier than "fire" at Taco bell maybe. The pakora was also not the largest serving, but was adaquate for 2 people as an appetizer. That being said, ordering rice or naan (or both) is required if you're get a curry, otherwise I do think the food will be underwhelming in terms of fullness. The staff was pleasant and quite fast. The patio was dog friendly (you can access it from the parking lot), and the general experience was pretty wonderful! 4 stars vs 5 because the pricing seemed a bit on the higher end (I live in the SF bay area and the prices here seemed relatively expensive in comparison) I will definitely try again next time I'm in the area. This place isn't your usual Indian restaurant. I've had countless Indian curry experience from house and curries in Berkeley to Zareen's in Palo Alto and other small restaurants in LA. The first time I had food from this place was years ago and it was not good. We decided to give it another try and boy are we glad we did. It was absolutely excellent. Service was great but we were the only people there as we got there very early. Still it was great. The goat curry was stellar. The naan was delicious. The samosas were delicious. The tandoori lamb chops were perfect. The chai was perfect. The chicken tikka was delicious. Everything was absolutely amazing. I am super picky about Indian food and this place delivered. I told the server about my first bad experience and he told me that since then the owner took over as the cook. I was skeptical about the lone Indian restaurant way out in Oakhurst, but after getting sick and tired of all the American food I decided to give this place a try. Food did not disappoint! We ordered the chicken tikka appetizer, saag paneer, butter chicken and butter naan. The chicken tikka was amazing and even better than some Indian restaurants I've tried in the SF Bay Area. The butter chicken was flavorful and they gave plenty of chicken! The saag didn't have as much spinach and was much more creamier then what I'm used to seeing but still flavorful. Terrible food and very very poor customer service. Let's start with the service. We reached this place at around 9 (after calling and confirming they were open till 9 30 as we were traveling and decided to grab dinner here because of the great reviews) and requested to be seated. Before we could complete he snapped "No seating, only takeout!" He did not even bother to be polite and clearly does not care about his customers. He did the same to quite a few other customers in front of us. I understand if his timings are different, but he should update that on Yelp and Google, instead of being misleading on the internet! The experience left much to be desired. 1) Service was pretty bad which is made worse by the fact they slyly automatically charge gratuity. Be aware of this, it would be easy to unknowingly leave extra tip for mediocre service. 2) you may be safer with a vegetarian option as both my companions who ordered chicken got sick to the stomach that night. Meat looked a bit underdone and the curry was overly creamy. 3) Questionable Cleanliness: my water cup had red lipstick around the rim and it wasn't from me. Bathroom situation isn't ideal as you have to exit the restaurant to use the bathrooms or wash hands. The decor is cute. The samosas and naan were pretty good and met expectations. They were quite stingy with the rice and wouldn't give each entree an order of rice even when we brought this to their attention. For the prices you're paying here you'd think you could get a full serving of rice. I'm no expert on Indian food, but the food we tried was all tasty with fresh ingredients. We tried three curry dishes and the shrimp rice dish for about $71, and my family of 4 liked it. The decor was barebone, nothing fancy. But watch out for the mandatory 20% gratuity fee. I wish the server had told me about it. I almost added another 15% for tips. read more

We called him up from Yosemite at around 8 pm to check when they will be open till and we were told "We are open till 9.45 and last call for dining is at 9.30". Trusting their words when we reached the restaurant at 9.02 pm and asked to be seated, the owner was extremely rude and told us that they will not dine anybody very non chalantly. We were very off put with the way he spoke not only to us but all other customers who were entering before and after us. We understand that things may come up for which they had to stop dine in but the way he was talking to everyone including senior citizen customers was really extremely uncouth and uncomfortable to see. We still decided to give benefit of the doubt and order food for takeout with my friends. We ordered chicken korma for us which literally felt like chicken swimming in a thin soup which is tasteless. Forget about authentic curries but even if you want an abridged version of curry do not order here... My friends took paneer tikka which was raw in the middle and the salad looked like it had been chopped days before. I can't speak for the ambiance since I called in my order for takeout, but the food was ready 25 minutes after I called, as promised. I payed at the counter, and the cashier told me to have a seat. There was a bag of food behind him, but I waited. A few minutes later someone else came by to ask for the name of my order, then handed me the bag that was sitting there the whole time. The food was good. The naan bread was soft and buttery. The rice portion is small, so I ordered an extra serving for each entree. Place was not yet busy and nicely kept. Chicken was so soft in curry (normally I order paneer due to many restaurants have old chicken in many curries) so I was very surprised and it was delicious. Came here on a regular weeknight for takeout. Ordered far in advance based on so many reviews about the wait, but it seems they didn't start prepping my order until I arrived (at the time my order was to be ready) and I waited a full 30 minutes after my pickup time. They were kind to offer a free dessert for the wait, and the food ended up being pretty good. Probably not up to par with what we get in bigger cities, but hit the spot. The reason for the low rating is that while I was hanging out waiting, I saw multiple staff with masks pulled down and one walking all around the restaurant with no mask at all, and multiple customers were entering without masks. Made me uncomfortable enough to need to step out to have enough distance. Just FYI if you are avoiding maskless-friendly places. They also stopped taking phone orders at one point and also turned away many people who walked in about 15min before closing. I guess they're popular enough they don't need more business! read more

The food is great, service is great, and they are usually open later than most other restaurants in the area. We always get a biryani and a curry dish with naan. Their Rasmalai dessert is also very good. They have closed early in the past, but I guess it varies with how busy Oakhurst is due to seasonal Yosemite visits. He wasn't really organized with how he takes order from walk ins and from the phone orders. Ordered paneer tiki appetizer, it was not as before which was really good, this time it was on the burnt side. Ordered butter chicken, not as before but tasted more like tomato soup. I asked what else would the waiter recommend instead of ordering our usually shahi panner, and he suggested some type of dumpling dish. So I went for it. Not authentic Indian cuisine by any means. All the curries were so sweet, chicken dishes were beyond bad. Service was awful, they missed a couple of items in the order, didn't refill water and had to ask a couple of times to get salt.
