This restaurant is owned and operated by three wonderful people! Rashon, the server, is the true definition of a host! He knows his food and all of their ingredients. I asked which items were Vegan and he walked me through each item and explained exactly what and why each item was or was not Vegan. Their attention to the customer is wonderful. And, yes, the food was delicious! The woman at the register is the owner and when I told her I liked the food and service and that "I will be back", she put her hand to her heart and smiled. Extremely rude and poor customer service. I went there with my gf for dinner. I ordered Chole Bhature which they serve with 2 Bhature, pinch of chole, 2 small pieces of onion and 2 small chilies. Additionally they charges $2 if you want 2 slices of onion and 2-3 chili cuts extra which is weird. We asked the waiter (lady) politely that the quantity of chole is too less for Bhature. She told us that its costly to prepare food and cleaning plates costs money. Also told us not to come again if we find it costly!!! Seriously this is the worst experience I ever had anywhere. If you feel preparing Indian food is costly (not sure how and why) raise the price but provide adequate quantity and quality. These cheapness is the result why your restaurant is almost empty. Let me start off by explaining that I work as a concierge near this business. In the past it was always known as a place to avoid. I certainly never recommended it to anyone based on the terrible reviews I read here and heard from people in the neighborhood. Then things changed. People started coming to my desk and saying, "Hey, did you know that Tandoori Hut place has new owners? The food is actually good now!" Residents were going over for the $7.95 lunch buffet all the time and started having them deliver in the evening. Everyone said the food was amazing and that the new staff were so friendly. I had to find out for myself so I dragged my mom down there. Right away we were greeted by the family's very nice son. I think he could tell my mom was not too familiar with Indian cuisine so he walked her through everything they had available at the buffet. I knew what 90% of it was and the rest of it was loaded onto my plate anyway because it looked so damn good. Trays were constantly replaced by new, piping hot selections so I know it was fresh. I felt like we were ripping the place off getting all that good food for less than $8. Oh my god, the food. So good. Nothing was particularly spicy this day but they had a good selection of condiments and sauces to ratchet up the heat. I had two servings of the tikka masala and the veggie curry (delicious, lightly spiced greens and potatoes). I certainly put myself into a food coma. Even the desserts were tasty (I had a moist honey ball with rice pudding) whereas I typically find buffet desserts to be an afterthought and avoid them. We had two conversations with the family who now run the place. The son was clearly very proud of his parents and their abilities to turn around a mediocre business. He was delighted that they did this all by word of mouth. His mom was such a dear. She came over to ask how we liked everything and explained her belief that if you focus on making really good food, the gods will send the "beautiful customers" and take care of everything. Wow. One of my very, very rare 1 (or even 2) star reviews. I arrived for the buffet 20 minutes before it was due to close, and asked if it was too late, was everything still there. I was told that it was, and then ignored. Noticed the naan was really dried out, like it had been there since the buffet opened. Was told that they would bring fresh naan, but the young man who said that continued to talk to an older staff member, while 2 other staff also sat at tables, eating their lunch. Nothing was done. Then, when I then noticed that the mint chutney was gone, the same young man told me that they don't make new chutney after 2:30. Buffet closes at 3... When I expressed my dismay, he said, "We are closed," and took my plate from my hands. I kid you not. 63 years of life, and Tandoori Hut is the first and only business to ever ask me to leave! We tried this restaurant over the weekend. The food was really good but a bit on the costly side with no rice or naan included with the entree. The kadhai paneer was one of the best we have had in a while and the butter naan was pretty authentic prepared with cilantro topping. Flabbergasted was what we felt when the presumed owner of this restaurant came out to inform us that we could only stay 45 minutes (we had already stayed a little over an hour) so as to free the table for other diners. This was during the lunch buffet, during which time there were plenty of empty tables. Based on his behavior, we could only assume we had obviously overstayed our welcome, but the man's dogged insistence on our paying our bill right away was quite annoying. He came out several times to do this. As we got up to pay, the friend I was with was much more upset than I. He couldn't get over the ridiculousness of the situation. The owner of a restaurant with a lunch buffet cannot expect everyone to eat the same amount of food or to stay the same amount of time. He could, of course, simply put out a sign that says "LUNCH BUFFET $8.95: EAT AND GET OUT, 11:30-2:30." And another sign that reads "ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT, BUT DON'T COME ON AN EMPTY STOMACH." On the other hand, I have seen other diners "fill up" at the buffet, so I am not sure why my friend and I were singled out for "special treatment." * * * * * Something's "a little" screw-y here. On a visit weeks later, I was refused service for no other reason than the previous experience. I didn't even get to taste the food - which was supposed to be good based on reviews. We got to the restaurant 20 mins **before** it advertises it closes at for lunch. Initially the guy offered takeout. We were a family of five with kids, so obviously I needed a minute to think about where we were going to sit and eat if we did. Let me start by saying I have a peanut allergy, and have NEVER been able to eat indian food IN MY LIFE! Then I stopped by Tandoori Hut with a friend while she got food, and they were so accommodating they helped me figure out what foods have peanuts (or other things I'm allergic too) and what doesn't. Literally they walked down the buffet line and showed me what was safe and not... never experienced such hospitality at a restaurant before! Not only did they cater to my specific, dietary needs, but they are also the sweetest, nicest, humblest people I have met. And delicious food. Highly recommend the butter chick and Masala chicken. Oh dude, I love this place! :) Three words: everyday lunch buffet. And for less than 9 bucks after tax! Pretty much my favorite lunch buffet ever. The rice is well kept so they weren't dry, the naan is friggin' amazing and where else can you get goat's curry at a buffet? I've also been there for dinner and everything we had was soooo good. And the owners are so nice, they'll come and chat with you to make sure that everything is how you expect it. Definitely get the naan (any of them, they're all good), and my fave is the lamb briyani. My friends and I were so impressed with this place that my friends went back the next day! The server was super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. He was able to give suggestions and describe how the dishes are prepared with detail. It was hands down the best customer service I've had in an Indian restaurant. We started with the Samosa Chat. I've never had this before but now I will not have Samosas any other ways if this is an option. The samosas are cut up in to small pieces and mixed in with garbanzo beans and chutney. It was delicious!. We had the Chicken Tikka Masala and another fish dish. They were both amazingly delicious. Rice comes along with the dishes (a big bowl!) and we ordered some yummy garlic naan. As someone who will take any opportunity to eat as much Indian food as possible, I will never pass up a $7.95 lunch buffet. Tandoori Hut doesn't have the best Indian food I've had in Seattle (that honor goes to Taste of India in the U district) but the buffet has pretty good food, and an impressively varied selection. It's also a very clean and well-run restaurant, and staff will come and check on you every once in a while even during the buffet times. Excellent Indian restaurant and the lunch buffet is about 8 bucks per person. The service is great and very friendly. They were expecting a large (20+) party, but they re-arranged some tables to squeeze us in too. The buffet has a nice selection of curries, salads, tandoori chicken and is constantly being reloaded. There were vegetarian and meat options, to satisfy just about every one. Unlike other buffets, there were samosas, full sized ones, which I had to share with my kids so I wouldn't look like a pig. Not only was the naan in the buffet not plain, they had two different varieties of naan (one garlicky and one maybe with vegetables). This place is sadly the only Indian restaurant in Belltown and that is why they take pretty good advantage of it. Although I have eaten better food there may be a year back, the quality of food has extremely deteriorated and the service sucks especially during buffet. We were craving for an Indian buffet for a very long time and happened to go there during regular lunch hours may be just a couple of hours later than their regular buffet hours. The items in the buffet were hardly and seriously did'nt think it was worth the $8.00+tax we paid. The chicken tikka masala was rubbery and it smelled as if the chicken was not fresh at all. There were hardly any Naans and almost it seemed that we needed to get the server from the kitchen to get more Naans. This is an excellent Indian restaurant which I highly recommend. The food is fresh and extremely flavorful. I live only two blocks away, so I've eaten here at least 50 times within the past two years, and I've never had any complaints. The consistency of the quality of the food is top-notch. I'm not a fan of buffets in general, but I love Indian buffets. I wish there were more Thai buffets, since Thai food is traditionally served as a little bit of everything to a group of people, but Indian buffets will have to do. They have a decent variety of food for the buffet, and at $7.95 for all-you-can-eat, it's a steal. I highly recommend the vindaloo, saag, tikki masala and tandoori chicken. If there is a better Indian restaurant within walking distance, I have yet to find it. On a side note, someone mentioned that they do not deliver. This is completely untrue. Tandoori Hut is now on Eat24Hours.com. I ordered a luxuriant vegetarian dinner that came as confirmed by email in 45-minutes to 1-hour. Good customer service. Also, the order was completed online. So no signature upon delivery is necesary anymore. That's pretty cool. I decided to try the paneer pakora. It was my first time and better than expected. The saag-aloo (spinach & potatoes) was slowly simmered in a cumin masala, which had an excellent texture. Their vegetable korma was protein packed being cooked in a creamy saffron-nut masala sauce that was full of fresh flavors. And the gulab jamun (simply wonderfuls) was actually a disappointment for dessert. It didn't come soaked in much syrup and tasted old. Overall, my meal was as expected. In the end, I picked two stars because I realized I've never met an indian buffet that I didn't thoroughly enjoy...except for this one. We always over order so we can eat left overs for lunch and dinner the next day- its that good. We have tried various Indian restaurants around Seattle and this one really takes the cake. Today I went in with a friend from out of town for the lunch buffet. WOW wow wowie. The food was really great, the price was unbelievable and the service and vibe in here was awesome, heartfelt and so very out of the normal in a good way. Hopeless Service!! I was visiting Seattle with my husband and decided to walk in to this place. We were standing at the door for 5 minutes with nobody bothering to show us to our table. Then this lady walks up to us from the kitchen and angrily shows us a table at a distance while saying "we'll be late!". Gods man! What are you thinking! This is a buffet! And not as in Warren! I filled up a plate full of deliciousness, and proceeded to devour it. (For those of you that don't know, that's what you do in restaurants. You devour food. You're welcome). I have no idea what all I got except that I tried a little of just about everything, and it all was delish to me. Had my first visit last night to the sweet and family-owned restaurant. Not many folks were eating here, so I didn't know what to think but -- surprise! It was great. We ordered veggie pakora, a goat curry (my favorite! yum!), garlic naan, and lamb korma (they made this especially for me w/o cream). Everything was delicious. I would say for a spice-phobe like me 3/10 stars for spiciness was too much for me, I will do 2 next time, but the flavors were so awesome I didn't mind. I will visit this place again! An all you can eat buffet for $8 + a take out container you can fill to the bursting point = best indian food lunch destination ever! Seriously, for eight bucks they'll give you a styrofoam container and let you stuff it to take back to your office. And, if you're like me, you can get a *LOT* of food into one of those styrofoam take-out containers. You'd think for a deal that budget smart, the food would be pretty meh. Nope! The food is great, with a selection of meat dishes as well as vegetarian fare that are both really well seasoned and delicious. Be sure to grab some dessert to go too, as the syrup covered doughball things (really need to remember the name of things better) are mouthwateringly good. It took me a while to try out Tandoor Hut, but I finally tried it out and I'm happy that I did. From the look of the reviews, they do a very healthy lunch business because as it has been mentioned in prior review, it is dead empty at night. That was my initial concern, but after several months of walking by multiple times debating whether I should give it a try, I did. Thankfully it worked out well. The chicken pakora were spicy and sweet. The samosas were fried just right. The naan was also solid. The chicken tikka masala was tasty. Have I had some more flavorful food, sure? The only part of the meal that I was not enamored with was the basmati rice, it was a bit lumpy. All in all, I will be back and I'm happy that I have now found an Indian place in Belltown. Updating: Went back again and definitely disappointed. The rice was well... not basmati for sure. The lamb was totally dry and not cooked well. On an upside, the ginger chicken was good. Holy carp. I just ordered off eat24, I was a little nervous to order Indian food for delivery but after staring down the menu and reading all the reviews, I finally grew some balls. It was amazing. I got vegetable samosas, butter chicken and chicken curry. The samosa was nice and crispy and generously filled with veggies, the chicken was tender and everything was perfectly spiced. It was amazing. Only took 45 minutes, despite it being Saturday night, the food was hot and the driver was super nice. Dude, amazing. It came with basmati rice, the portions are very decent (sup, LOTS of leftovers?) and I can't really say enough how amazing it was. Thank you tandoori hut, I've been wanting great indian food for who knows how long and I am not at all disappointed. Tandoori Hut was very good, I'd go back there in an instant. I came here with high hopes, given that it was one of the highest rated Indian restaurants in Belltown, Unfortunately, I've found that it really didn't live up to the hype. Unlike the others here, I actually ordered an entree for a dinner, rather than the lunch buffet, so take that as you will. The order was simple- a chicken biryani. What could go wrong? When I got the biryani, it not only was rather bland, but contained a medley of vegetables I've simply never seen in a biryani. Frankly, it looked like they had just taken a frozen mixed vegetable packet and mixed it into the biryani. There might be other good things on the menu, but there really isn't a compelling reason for me to go back with so much great food nearby. read more

Positives: Good food (some things are great, especially the naan), Really sweet staff, a few Indian beers you might not just see any ol' place Negative: A bit overpriced, Flighty (yet nice) staff, bad thai tea (I realize it's not Indian) I almost always get the food to-go and am never disappointed. I've definitely had better but nothing in Seattle that screams out (we need a bigger Indian population). One time I ordered then came in and they had not seemed to have taken my order. I had to tell them what I ordered over and then wait 20 minutes...but they gave me a large beer while I waited. The waitress who took my order brought me a water but forgot my friend's. Another time they forgot a drink so I came back - they took my word that I didn't get one so they gave me two and a sincere apology. Last night the gentleman who brought out our food assured my date that he, personally, made sure that there was no shellfish cross-contamination (She mentioned her allergy over the phone). Very standard and comforting menu. The lamb is always cooked perfectly (on of my demands from an Indian restaurant). I hear that the lunch buffet is spectacular. Update: The lunch buffet IS spectacular. Monday - Friday, starts a 11am. All-you-can eat. Decent variety of the more popular items (naan, saag paneer, 2 types of chicken wings, butter chicken, rice, curries, fruits, yogurt, samosas...) all for about $9, after tax. This one was a bit hard to rate. We came here with a group of 25 for dinner. They were able to accommodate us pretty well. They took our order table by table though and we had like 6 tables. The server then disappeared for a while and the food would come out like 10 minutes later. Then, she took the next table's order. I felt it wasn't very effective and we had 2 tables completely done with dinner before the 4th table even got to order.
