Wow. I didn't expect this. For whatever reason I've always assumed that Tanoshii was something along the lines of a ramen diner, basically a package of Top Ramen tossed into a bowl with some bad cuts of meat. We finally went to Tanoshii tonight thanks to my wife's insistence and we were both blown away. Everything we had was incredibly fresh, deep flavors and pretty much exactly what you'd want if you were to be given a chance to eat at a Japanese restaurant that didn't focus on sushi or teriyaki. I tend to avoid eating meat in restaurants (for religious reasons) and my wife and I had the agadashe tofu, brussels sprouts, romanesco and the chicken and waffles (which I didn't eat, but she said was amazing) as well as a side of pickles. I'm still blown away by the purity and freshness of flavors. Yes, they have ramen, but I think the real must-haves are on the vegetable side of the menu.

I was so excited to eat here again this time in town. The guy wouldn't give me a table because I was alone. He said the three empty tables all had reservations in the next hour. I sat at the bar only to find the menu had changed. They changed the rolls out to these overly salty mess making sloppy Joe things. I ordered the same bowl too only to find it was quite different too. I'm pretty sad because it was so good the first time. As I left not only were the three tables still empty but so we're two more.

Delicious ramen, beautiful decor, convenient location. The miso soup is a great starter, and the pork ramen is my favorite entree.

Nothing beats Ramen in 5 degree weather! Good happy hour menu, cozy environment with friendly staff.

I can here for dinner solely because they had a vegan dessert that sounded amazing (panna cotta with huckleberry ginger sauce), and because the ramen bowls looked intriguing. Oh my goodness! Every dish was a party in our mouths. SO GOOD. I had the summer ramen, which was unlike anything I've ever had before. I'm not usually a fan of pickled ginger, but theirs is obviously housemade, and it was perfect to balance the other flavors happening. My daughter had the pork belly ramen, and that was the best pork belly I've ever tried. Absolutely delicious. We were pretty hungry, so also ordered the haricot verts, which were also full flavored and delightful. That vegan panna cotta is the type of dish that you never want to finish, to keep eating forever. Yummmmmm. Get it and thank me later! Service was outstanding too, and I love that everything is made from scratch and that they source so many ingredients locally. Outstanding!

Look at the reviews, people - this place is a Bozeman gem! I'd give it a ten if I could. The food, atmosphere, service are top quality. Austin recommended the Local Oyster Mushrooms and Chicken and Waffles. Both were fabulous. We tried the Taiwanese Noodle Bowl with an egg with their house made chili sauce. Delicious. I also appreciated how our server, Olivia, brought (without us having to ask) extra plates and bowls so we could share. The beer and saki were excellent, too. I have to say, one of the things that really blew me away was the pickled ginger. I don't think I can ever eat store-bought ginger again. The flavor of their ingredients is next level. Thanks so much!

I loved the ambience and the atmosphere my family even decided to get a reservation. When i pronounced I had a shellfish allergy I was told that everything had been cross contaminated and I couldn't eat there. I almost had to leave my family and uber home since the majority of my family can eat shellfish. I am a cook but I am no sushi chef I have done sushi while private cheffing. I do believe that there are certain steps you can take to prevent cross contamination and being able to store things properly in order to prevent contamination. I understand that when at sushi restaurants there's no helping fryers which is completely understandable. There is also a point I'd like to make how there should be some kind of sign outside or when making a reservation to pronounce on their end that they can't accommodate. At the end of the day I'm disappointed, I almost chose to leave my family, and we all ended up walking out without ordering since they can't accommodate to my allergy. I hope they take steps in the future to prevent cross contamination or pronounce they cannot accommodate to certain allergies before making a reservation.

My wife and I both switched to pork dishes, only to learn from the server that they had stopped buying pork because it doesn't sell well and the new menus hadn't been printed yet. All of this probably primed us for the disappointment that followed. My wife ordered jjajang, which should have been a treat. Although jjajang is popular in Korea, it doesn't appear on many Korean restaurant menus in the U.S. because Koreans think of it as a Chinese dish, even though the Chinese analogue, zha jiang mian, is actually quite different. Jjajang is a noodle dish with a variety of ingredients, but what makes it distinctive is the musky flavor and black color of the fermented beans that form the base of the sauce. The jjajang at I‑Ho certainly looked right, but it lacked the deep umami flavor, turning what should have been a memorable dish into an ordinary one. I ordered the Dak‑Go‑Gi‑Bob and asked for a spice level of 4. The problem was that they apparently spiced the dish with chili powder. That seems logical enough, but the chili powder, while amping up the heat, also changed the flavor profile in an unpleasant way. A more authentic and better approach would have been to adjust the heat with more gochujang. I was also surprised to see banchan on the appetizer menu for $8. When I lived in Korea, I never once had to pay extra for banchan. I understand the business logic - if I‑Ho doesn't include banchan with the entrées, they can charge less for the main dishes - but it still felt very un‑Korean to me. I'm giving the restaurant three stars partly out of kindness and partly because I don't want to rate it lower based on a single visit. That said, our experience was below the American average for Korean restaurants, and the food did not deliver the bold, delicious flavors I enjoyed in Korea.

The kitchen staff was engaged and helpful (Paul, Maddi, and Trevor were amazing, but also shout out to the rest of the kitchen), and the food was out of this world. Paul obviously cares deeply about his craft and made sure we knew what we were eating and where on the fish it came from, and it was really cool to watch him work right in front of us (especially given the fact that the sushi was out-of-this-world). Trevor was super fun and kept everyone engaged through the whole night while also making sure we were supplied on anything we needed - not to mention he is an impressive force in the kitchen and everything they brought out was great. Maddi was also incredible and made the best mocktails I've ever had (and it's not even close) - each of them was innovative and delicious. The food itself was amazing and there wasn't a single course that I disliked. It's near impossible to pick a favorite because they all felt like stand-outs. I am traveling for the summer so I booked a solo reservation and they treated me like family and made sure that I was never bored or left out. I went for lunch on a weekday, and a line quickly formed behind me, so there seems to be somewhat of a lunch rush. There are only 2 people making the bowls and ringing them up, so there may be a short wait. I got the regular bowl, half sushi rice half mixed greens, with 2 scoops of salmon, almost all of the toppings and their house sauce and eel sauce. The salmon is decent and seemed to be the most popular choice. Wish there wasn't an upcharge for masago, but there was more than enough topping selection and it was a filling and healthyish meal. Came out to be a little over $13 with tip, pretty typical for a poke bowl. Didn't see the owner(?) mentioned in previous reviews; all of the staff there seemed pretty friendly to me.

It's okay for being the only easily accesible poke shop in town…read more I mean, we keep coming back so it's obviously not terrible but it's also extremely inconsistent. I actually held off on writing this review until our after our fourth visit to make a fair judgement. Yo Poke is a good option if you're looking for a quick and easy meal. The quality of the fish is on the mid-level of good and the ingredients are typically fresh. As for the store itself, it's kept very clean and there are a several tables and chairs if you choose to sit and eat. We've visited on a few occasions now and the staff has been friendly every single time. The biggest problem lies in consistency. On two out of four visits, we received poke bowls that were so sad looking with 6 or 7 little cubes of fish. On the other two visits, we were served a portion that looks like most other restaurants offer. (I've been BYO poke restaurants in several states). At this point, we watch the person building our bowls getting a tiny half scoop of protein, usually fish, or a full one. It's very interesting to me how the servings can come out so different even though they literally use the same scooper...just fill that tiny little thing up and let's call it a day. To be honest, a full scoop versus a half scoop usually determines a generous tip or a "this is just to be nice" one. The food itself is usually pretty tasty, no complaints on that front. Here is one of my favorite BYO combos: + Sushi Rice + Proteins: Tuna & Salmon + Mix-ins: White & Green Onions. + Sauces: Shoyu & Wasabi Mayo. + Sides: Edamame, Surimi Salad, Ginger & Avocado + Toppings: Sesame Oil, Tempura Flakes & Furikake If you try it, let me know what you think! Oh, one more thing! Don't try to order from GrubHub. I've tried to order delivery 3 times and my order was delayed by more than 2 hours every single time before it got canceled!
