Grabbed some lunch from tap and vine yesterday while in town. Nice place; clean, very tasty, courteous staff. Got romaine salad and chuck Norris burger. They actually split both for us without request. Burger was a double patty and huge so essentially we got to burgers. Went to Tap & Vine for the second time with my wife the other night. For starters, we ordered the steak and cheese egg rolls, which by themself are very tasty! The egg rolls came with chipotle aioli on the side for dipping which was a nice complement as well. For my taste, the aioli was a little on the heavy side with pepper/adobo flavor, but that's just me being nitpicky. For entrees, my wife ordered the quinoa & pear salad, and I ordered the street tacos with chicken. Both of us loved our entrees! The salad was well balanced with flavors and not overpowered by dressing. The tacos were very fresh and had the perfect balance of chicken, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, and cilantro lime dressing. Tap & Vine also has a vast selection of beer and wine. I ordered a couple of beers with my meal, and the only drawback is they are pricey in my opinion. Absolutely loved this place! We came on a Thursday evening for trivia and sat in a cozy booth in the bar area. Rachel was our waitress and she was so friendly and attentive! The five of us shared the chipotle shrimp dip, brussel sprouts, the chicken tacos, the Q Street burger and fries - everything was delicious! Such a warm and cute atmosphere. It was our first visit to Tan & Vine and it will not be our last. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was the best I have had. We try them wherever we go and these were by far the best. The egg roll app was tasty as well, but I wish the server would have let us know that 1 is enough to share. The watermelon salad was so tasty and refreshing, can't wait to have it again in the summer time! The chicken bowl had so much flavor and was even better reheated the next day! Walked in and the girl that greeted us had the same hair I had.. already a win in my book. She told us they would seat us asap because we had tickets to a show. I can't recommend this place enough. Not just for the great food and ambience but for the people! I have been coming here for about 6 months every week. And Erika, missy and the rest of the staff have always been friendly and helpful. But this week they truly made my day. They know I'm one of the many being effected by the government shutdown and the manager comped my wine after a lovely couple paid for my meal at the bar. Loved it here. First three things I ordered (beer and food) they did not have (or could not make) but Mike (the bartender) was so friendly and accommodating. A friend recommended this place for our girls night out and it was great. The atmosphere was charming and the food was unique and delicious. They have a welcoming bar area and a nice outside patio. We were lucky enough to sit in the sofa section and enjoyed watching the place fill up as the night went on. The service was good and we did not feel rushed so we could enjoy our evening out. They had a large variety of beers and wine and the bartender was very accommodating at encouraging us to try something new. We normally get together in the downtown area but the parking was so convenient here and the place was so comfortable I think we will definitely become regulars. read more

While we waited for a table we got a glass of wine at the bar. The pour was very skimpy but the wine was good. If I were just rating the food it would be at least 4 stars but the service was lacking thus the 3 star rating. It took a while for someone to take our order. My husband ordered water but didn't get it when our drinks were served so he asked the manager who brought out our food for a glass of water and it never came. We found this place randomly on our drive from Maine to DC. The food and service were excellent! We shared the brussels sprouts, which were cooked perfectly and flavored with just the right amount of vinegar. I had a burger and my wife had the Watermelon salad, both of which were delicious. It was girls night out and we headed into town for dinner. When we found out the wait was 30-40 mins we were slightly deterred not sure it was worth the wait since this was our first time here. When one of the owners overheard us, he convinced us to enjoy a drink on the house while we waited, very classy move (Gary). We were immediately impressed with the ambience, extremely personable wait staff (Mike is a rockstar!), and menu options. Our entire meal start to finish exceeded expectations. Food was above average in comparison to many rest. in Wallingford, prices were reasonable and the beer options were extensive. The only reason they did not get 5 stars is the amount of time we waiting for our meals. It took over an hour to get 2 salads and a chicken bowl. Went here for the first time on Friday and went back tonight (two days later) because we had such a great experience. Beautiful nights for the patio, but the new interior is just as welcoming. The menu has great choices - we've had the hushpuppies app, the chicken sandwich, a burger and the Shrimp and Grits. All were delicious, but the Shrimp and Grits is really something special. Waitstaff were uniformly helpful, friendly and concerned with whether we'd had a good experience. But the real winner is the beer list. My husband is a beer geek and this list makes him extremely happy. 24 beers on tap, all interesting and in some cases hard to find choices and the list had new additions between Friday and Sunday! We will be back - this is our new favorite place! read more

The place has a pleasant ambiance and feel. The staff was pleasant. I'd consider going back to taste the food, but I'd give myself way more time and I'd triple ask the waitress if the kitchen would be able to deliver the food in a reasonable time. Our table of 4 was at restaurant for an hour and 25 minutes and received drinks but NO food! That's a first for me and I'v been to a few restaurants in my 55 years. I acknowledge the place filled-up shortly after we arrived most likely due to the Ray LaMontagne concert at a nearby venue. But there was NO COMMUNICATION that kitchen would have issue getting our food out and/or that staff was overwhelmed due to crowd. I would have appreciated a heads-up so that our table could have made a decision on what to do something. Communication from the staff was sub-par. And given our nice seats tucked-away in a back corner, I didn't realize how packed the place and its outdoor seating was. If I had, I would have start asking for food much sooner. We arrived at 5:50 for a 6 reservation. At 6:20 I sought out maitre-d and let him know no one had taken our order and that we were trying to make concert at 7:30. Few minutes later a pleasant waitress came by and took our order. Given time constraints and after consulting waitress, our table of 4 choose hamburgs and sandwiches, which would take less time than other meals to prepare. I informed the waitress that we were trying to make the 7:30 concert at nearby venue. By 7:08 our food had not arrived. I informed Maitre de that we would have to leave by 7:15 if our food didn't arrive. Shortly after 7:15 we left. On our way out, Maitre-d let me know that the food had gone on the grill. read more

Very cool little spot hidden away in Wallingford. The menu is limited which suits this place well. In my opinion the food is always better when there is a limited menu. The bar area is very nice, and they have a good amount of out door seating. The tap list is outstanding and changes frequently. What is really nice is they keep the website up to date so you can look ahead of time. We started the Tuna Tartar which was outstanding and the steak and cheese egg rolls. The Tartar had large chunks of very fresh and tasty Tuna mixed with a phenomenal sauce mixed in with mango's and avocados. The Egg Rolls were also very delicious, the sauce was so good one of our table party asked to keep the dish on the table so she could dip her burger in it. For my main course I had the Braised short ribs. The bacon cheddar grits with fresh corn paired flawlessly with the perfectly cook short Ribs. My only complaint was that I should have ordered 2 because they were that good. If I lived closer I would come here often just for the Tap menu. This spot is defiantly worth checking out if you are in the area looking for good beer and great food. read more

We really wanted to love this place... we've actually been back 4 times. The food is good, the beer list isn't bad, but the wine list is very limited and just not good, and the service has been terribly inconsistent. We've hoped that by now they'd have worked through their growing pains, but not yet, at least. We'll be moving on to another beer and wine hangout, this just isn't going to be it. read more

I wish I didn't even have to give them a star at all, but in order to write this I have to. I have NEVER seen such TERRIBLE customer service. Me and my boyfriend got our food to go, but sat in the parking lot to eat it since there were so many people in there. About 10 minutes later, the manager came outside and started screaming at us to "get the f*ck off [his] property". After that, he started racially profiling my boyfriend. I seriously considered going back and asking for a refund, but this place is so awful I never want to step foot anywhere near it ever again. 0/5 without a doubt. This is 100% the worst restaurant to come to wallingford, and we want the old Dublin back. read more

Best new restaurant in town. Simple, but varied menu. Great service, good food. As most of the eateries in the area are Italian, this is a pleasant addition. Have visited a few times in the last year and this is the first time I have felt compelled to review. Bar staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Brussels sprouts delicious, as always. Hubby and I both ordered Shepherd's Pie. Big mistake. 75% mashed potatoes that were very browned on top. Digging through the mashies we found a small amount of beef mixed with carrots, corn and peas that looked like they came out of a freezer bag or a can. We mentioned this to our waitress and stated that we thought the meal wss expensive for mainly mashed potatoes. When the check arrived there was no reduction for the meal. We queried our waitress and was told the manager was non-committal and did not offer a credit. The waitress took 10% off the Shepherd's Pie price. The manager needs to review the meaning of customer service. We will not be returning and will let our friends and acquaintances know about our existence. And, we live in town! read more

When we visit our son in college in CT, we are usually disappointed in the restaurants. We have never been blown away by the food in the area. Then we tried this place!!! This restaurant was very busy on a Sat night when we got there. We were seated in the lounge area after about 10 minutes. The staff here is EXCELLENT, everyone we encountered was very friendly. We got the strawberry mojito, which were very good. 3 of us shared the small nachos with chicken. One got the jumbalya, another the cheeseburger pizza and I got a Wayju beef burger with truffle fries, the aioli that came with them was incredible. I as so full from the nachos, I didn't eat much of the burger. Everyone shared my fries & aioli. I loved the rustic feel of the restaurant. This will be a regular spot when we visit. read more
