    Curds and tenders

Cool, clean spot. This is the old Houlihans. The space looks similar to that, but there are nice m, clean updates. We had two apps, cheese curds and tenders. They were both very good, just be prepared to be full on greasy food. Our server was excellent, very attentive. We enjoyed our lunch. Support a nice, local business group and head to Tap House Grill Algonquin!

We came for the soft opening and loved it. They have a really nice beer menu but we stuck with waters tonight. They have your standard lite beers, etc. but they also have some good craft beers. We started with cheese curds (nice salty flavor). Our son got shrimp tacos, my wife got a shrimp bowl and I got the garlic rib dip. Everyone loved their food. Our son felt they were the best fish tacos he has had; my wife also had Shrimp in her bowl and raved about it. My French Dip was fantastic! There is garlic butter in the process and it was just decadent; I ate it so fast. We ended with their donut

    Cheese curds appetizer are delicious!

A new restaurant where Houlihan's used to be. Their slogan: Addictive Food, Creative Brews. Our server, Aries, is very attentive and helpful. Service with a smile. He has some very good suggestions if you are overwhelmed with the big menu (digital for now). Appetizers, soup and salad, tacos, burgers, wraps, bowls, entrees, dessert, and a full alcohol menu. Ginger Soy Shrimp Bowl (on a plate): Shrimp sautéed in a ginger soy topped with cucumber, carrot, crunchy garbanzo beans, onion and mixed greens with mango salsa. Crispy Shrimp Tacos: Rock shrimp tacos garnished with lime-marinated cabbage, chipotle aioli & corn salsa. Garlic Prime Rib Dip: Roasted prime rib, shaved, with grilled onions, on Portuguse milk bread with garlic butter, served with a side of horseradish cream and au jus for dipping. Fresh Sticky Chocolate-Caramel Donuts: Cooked to order, tossed in our housemade Guinness caramel sauce, with chocolate drizzle. Their shrimp tacos are the best around! Our teenage son absolutely loved it. Can't wait to come back and try more of their fabulous menu!

The unfortunate reality of this experience is that two stars are generous for the service and quality of environment at Tap House. When my wife and I walked in we were greeted by three unmasked individuals. The standard is still to be masked indoors at all times. With about half of the seating area used we were asked to sit right by the entrance. We kindly asked to be placed at a different table (there were at least ten options) and were told yes with a heavy eye roll from the hostess. Once seated we were greeted by a waiter that had his mask below his chin. When we asked for a moment to look at the menu he didn't come back for ten minutes. We asked other waitresses if we could order and they walked by saying it wasn't their table with no effort to find our waiter. My wife got the pesto chicken wrap and I the Buffalo chicken wrap. Both were actually pretty good. As we sat eating, most individuals, despite a sign saying masks required, walked in without masks. Regardless of what an individual believes the importance of mask wearing is/is not, if there is a sign, you'd think the restaurant would uphold the expectation or simply remove the sign. Once COVID clears up, I don't know that we'll be going back. Average to slightly above food doesn't come close to making up for the poor service and attitudes of the employees.

The layout of the place is weird, it kind of feels like a diner in the booth section (which isn't a good thing). I would recommend sitting in the high top/ bar area. For a place that has tacos, they should have a generic margarita on their drink menu. There was too much coleslaw on the tacos, completely took over the taste of the tacos. They do have a few vegetarian options, which I appreciate. They definitely have some room to grow!

Fish fry, pretty good. Great tartar sauce!

The wife got the Friday fish fry and I liked it better than she did. It wasn't greasy which is usually the problem with fish fry's. My salmon was good but could have used some flavor outside of the glaze. The service was rough. The place was about 25% full and staff kept walking by us. It took over 10 minutes before anyone addressed us and each step afterwards was painfully slow. The staff spent more time talking to each other than customers from what I saw. The place is clean and very open so it has lots of promise.

    Crabby patty cheeseburger

Went to lunch on a Saturday with my daughter. Seemed like they were lacking servers. Service was a little slow. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer. They were very good. Definitely fresh not frozen curds. My daughter had the crabby patty cheese burger with tots from the kids menu. She liked it. I had the traditional wings with the exotic sauce. The sauce was good but it needed something. Either more spice or sweetness or both. It was trying to be a sweet chili sauce but was missing something. I will say the quality of the wings was excellent. Very large meaty wings. I'd get them again. Place was empty when we got here but filled up as we were here. Nice tv locations. Nice drink and beer menu. They have Friday lent specials as well. Ambiance was nice with light music playing but not to loud that you couldn't have a conversation. We will be back.

While returning home from our road trip it was time to grab something to eat along the way. I recalled this place from a while back as I passed by it on my way to the shopping area that is in the vicinity. I dropped my traveling party off at the door and went off to park the car. When I walk in I saw they had already been seated. As it was between lunch and dinner the place was not all that crowded and yet there was a fair amount of customers. The menu that was left on the table for us to read had small print and the ink colors were offset so I felt like I already had a few too many just looking at it. Luckily one of the three of us had one that had good print on it. I opted to scan the code on the table to read the on-line version. There was a separate beer menu that has many choices, too many to try them all that day. I guess I'll have to come back. They do have an outside patio for when the weather is nice. Our server Zach came by to greet us and help explain some of the menu items we had questions about. He also took the time to educate us on the micro brewery behind the Tap House. The beer I chose was one of their own. I like to support the local brewery's while traveling. The ladies at the table had the salmon salad which looked amazing, and I was told it was delicious. I went for the Mac&Cheese. I wanted to try it straight up to get the taste of the base before loading it up with add in proteins. Unfortunately there was an error made along the way and chicken was added. I did try a piece of the chicken and found it was dry and overcooked. Note to self.....No chicken. At the end of the meal Zach spent time with us to chat and explained that the place had been open for just a little over 3 months. I would encourage you to go support this facility as I will be back to do so.

Conversations with the staff and occasionally the customers seems to just flow naturally. Has a Cheers feel where familiar faces meets welcoming atmosphere. Sydney, server and bartender, recently introduced a new set of cocktails. Adventurous as I am, I had to try the Campfire (I think that's what it's called). Made with Scotch and a hand toasted marshmallow (see pic), it was smooth and smoky (though no smoke is involved), capturing the essence of a campfire and S'mores. Easily a new favorite. Awesome Sydney!!!!!! My wife wasn't too hungry, but I ordered the Chicago Chopped Cheese from the specials menu (see pic). Surprisingly good and didn't expected the style. Chef Mark is on a role lately, as I have tried all but one of the specials. Keep it going. Be back soon!

Sew Hop'd is located in the building next to the tracks. Maybe there's not as many to choose from, but they make these with better care. There's some pretty unique ones, and at pretty good prices. A small brewery like this has fewer beers. It's the only bad thing that can be said about it. The part that makes up for this is that the beers are great though. It's about $7 a pint. Pretty comparable to other microbreweries like this. Had a few the last time here. Of the ones that we tried, the best was the Take The Stage. It's a session Indian pale ale. There was also a strawberry cheesecake one that I would have tried if it didn't have lactose. Here's another great local brewery to get some cold ones and chill. It's mostly known for the beers, but there's also entertainment such as live music. There's not really any food, but they have tubs of Von Hanson's pretzels, and there's food trucks on weekends.
