I went on a Wednesday afternoon and entered to a completely empty restaurant. They had soccer on at one of the bar tvs so I sat there and ordered the boneless chicken wings with lemon pepper seasoning. The food was delicious! There was a perfect amount of seasoning and the chicken was moist on the inside. I would highly recommend ordering this. The restaurant was well lit and had multiple TVs. They also have a golf swing simulator that you can reserve so that's really cool. I'll be back to try more of their menu. read more

We went for the NFC championship game, as did I assume most others going to a sports pub at that time, but it took 30 minutes for them to get it in one of the smaller TVs, and they were never able to get it on the sound system (so audio was a game from last year which was playing on another TV). We came here for the first trivia night with Go 4 It and were not impressed. It started with parking... not a whole lot of spaces available just outside. Not a huge deal, but on a colder day I would definitely have minded. When we sat down, it took 30 minutes for anyone to approach us, and that was only after we flagged staff down. After that, the service was pretty mediocre. When we finally ordered, the portions were small, food was nothing special and everyone at my table said the beer on tap was super flat. This place is really cool. It looks like it's in an industrial area and quite unsuspecting. It's near a golf course and is very golf themed: they even have golf simulators in the restaurant. I came here for the two brothers beer which is brewed locally. I had the pastrami beef burger that has stack of pastrami on top of the beef patty. Let me tell you this was a lot of food. They also have a selection of fries that you could pick from. The fries were a bit salty but overall pretty good. This place is very spacious and has a lot of room with big screen TVs. FALSE ADVERTISING - CLOSED! Before going for lunch on Friday 10/18/2013, we checked their "website" (which is their Facebook page) for specials (see screen shot); but in fact when we arrived the place was CLOSED with a sign on the door saying they were closed Thursday & Friday 10/17 & 10/18 for "repairs." The sign also stated to mention Tap-in at the other Hotel Arista restaurants including Sugar Toad for a 20% discount; so we went to Sugar Toad. Before getting seated, I asked the hostess-barmaid if the discount was valid, and when she said it was not, I asked to speak to the manager -- And she replied "I'm the supervisor." When we returned home, we checked their website; and again there was NOTHING on them being closed. It's FALSE ADVERTISING to KNOWINGLY LURE patrons to come over when the place is closed. read more

I ordered a sandwich - turkey with an awful attempt to conjure thoughts of thanksgiving dinner. There was stuffing - it was awful. There was turkey, it was dry. There was a cranberry mayo that made me gag and then some sort of au jus that was reminiscent of dirty dish water. Honestly the entire sandwich was offensively flavored. I would have preferred bland, but the combination of whatever was going on there was all wrong and made me queasy. This was a to go order and the hostess was super friendly. This is a nice convenient place for us to go to. They have a decent beer selection, and if you're on cheaper side, you can get a selection of 4 old style beers (Beers of Yesteryear - Old Style, Hamm's, Olympia, and Old Milwaukee) for $2.50 per can. I had flattish and disappointing Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA and tried some of wife's Old Style which was both refreshing and nostalgic for me. The 5 cheese pizza with chicken ($11) we had was very salty, and I would only give them 2 stars for the food, but a 3 overall. Server kindly offered a remake or another item, but we did not bother. They have a golf theme based on having golf simulators upstairs. I'll probably be back for the reasonably priced beer selection and convenient location. read more

Tap In has great ambience, and some good food, but their menu is really limited, especially for someone who doesn't eat beef or pork - but then again, it is a carvery. Because my choices are limited, I've only been exposed to certain things here - their fried pickles are awesome in taste, although I prefer mine to be in slices versus spear form. Their Mac and Cheese is AWESOME, but so very heavy! Their wings are good, but not the best. Their salads have all been mildly disappointing!!! Their Pepper Patty Burger is to die for (from days when I did consume beef) Now, their bread pudding, however, was singularly the BEST thing I'd tasted there, except it's no longer on the menu! The pluses here are the beer list, lot's of good local craft brews. The TV's are awesome for watching sporting events. (Came here for one of the Cubbies losses to the Mutts) it's a real nice place for a sports bar. They have golf clubs to test your driving abilities! The negative was the slow service, there were 7 of us and many of our glasses were empty for too long. The food itself is decent considering most of it is bar and grille food. We had burgers, which were good and there was one portobello burger that she liked. The wing apps were ok as were the potato skins. read more

Nothing special. I think people go here for the golf simulator and beer. Besides the beer the other alcohol and food is nothing special. Asked about wine and the waitress said they had two "one is a moscato and one is a dry red." I ordered the moscato and it tasted nothing like moscato or sweet wine. She claimed it was "like moscato." Per our receipt it was nothing of the sort! I think part of the problem with both of our drinks and delayed service is they had the waitress running 6 tables and the bar. Definitely impressed with this place! I went with a $20 Groupon, quite honestly not expecting much...I mean, its attached to a corporate/hotel type complex, thinking maybe it really just catered to a lunchtime crowd and hotel guests who would really eat anything. The place wasn't very happening when we arrived on a Friday night around 7pm, so my first thought naturally was "Great we'll get reheated crap because the kitchen staff is being sent home." It's a short but concise menu: sandwiches, a few hearty entrees, some pizzas, and apps. The appetizers cover a wide array (potato skins, beef/mushroom bites, tacos, wings), and we opted for the skins. You get three different kinds (buffalo chicken, steak/blue cheese, and another that I couldn't really figure out), so its good to share with another person. If you have more than one person, I wouldn't share, because you'll want to try all three. The potato was crispy and warm and had plentiful toppings. I would order this again, but would be interested to try the food truck tacos or beef/mushroom bites! I ordered the Thanksgiving Sliders and hubz ordered the Skillet Cheeseburger. Both meals came out on a wood plank with awesome presentation (see picture). I'm not always huge on sliders because I feel like you end up getting more bun than meat, but it worked really well for these. It was fresh carved turkey, cranberry sauce, a heaping pile of sage stuffing on each slider, and some kind of creamy, fruity mayo or cream cheese or sauce on the bottom. Whatever it was...It was thanksgiving in my mouth! The varying textures worked so well together. I was full after the first two and took the third one home (tasted just as good the next day). I would absolutely recommend these. Hubz really enjoyed his cheeseburger...it was cooked med-rare (just the way he liked it) and served with gooey cheese and on a pretzel bun. Both were served with their cottage fries (like really thick chip-fries) in a little basket, very delicious and not soggy at all (if you've had the chip-fries at Quigley's in Naperville, you know what I'm talking about when I say "soggy"). And to boot, both came with a little pickle jar! It had 4-5 different pickles in a tiny little Mason jar, how cute is that?! For the size of the bar, it had some good beer options. I mean really, only 6 drafts, but they had the local options like Solemn Oath and Two Brothers, so I appreciate that. They also have some craft bottles and tall boys of the cheap stuff to match every flavor. They have some whiskeys there for the liquor folks, and a small menu of interesting mixed drinks to boot (something with mint and madagascar vanilla and cherry...hmmmm). I can't wait to order the chili next time, and would love to try their pizza buffet over lunch someday. Other reviews have said that they have a "creamier" type of cheese, which leads me to believe its kind of like St. Louis style (aka IMO'S), which I LOVE. If the open-faced turkey sandwich is as good as the sliders, I would definitely get that too, on a warm snowy day. And if you love stuffing, I'd order up a side of their sage version of this. It was the perfect consistency and flavor. Also...after we arrived, the place filled up pretty quickly. I'm glad this place is getting some business! read more

You gotta try the Portobello Burger with Cottage Fries. No bread, no meat. The huge Portobello caps are the buns and the meat replacements. The caps were so thick and tasty. Grilled portobello caps, marinated vegetables, aioli, mozzarella, giardiniera peppers. I was satisfied when I left around 12:30 PM and was still not hungry by the time we went to dinner at 6:30 PM. We both had the steak sandwich, which was cooked to order. Steak was cooked medium rare, as requested. Blue cheese and horseradish aioli was awesome on the sandwich. Homemade cottage fries were great. Really enjoyed this place, but concerned it may not be there too much longer. Maybe they should offer delivery to Hotel arista. Underwhelming. Had a Groupon so decided to give the place a try. we started with the rib tips as an app, which was the best part of the meal, but also led us to cancel another item. The rib tips were good, but very messy. You pretty much have to eat these with your hands. Sauce had a nice tang to it. The rib tips were garnished with cole slaw though, and the cole slow was kinda soggy and very salty. My sweetie had ordered a $5 side of cole slaw with his meal, and after we tasted the cole slaw garnish for the rib tips he cancelled that portion of his meal. He had an Italian beef that was very very average - many hot dog places offer better. He was able to sub mashed taters for cottage fries, and he did not care for them - lumpy taters and bland gravy. I had the Thanksgiving sliders - too much sage dressing and not enough meat. Also, these sliders are dressed with a cranberry jam which was not good - much too tart. They should just use regular cranberry sauce instead. I ended up not eating much of the buns because that sour jam had soaked into them. I received cottage fries that would have been much better straight outta the frier. Sandwiches were served with a small jar of pickles - unique and a nice touch. Unfortunately I enjoyed the pickles much more than the sandwich. Service - kinda slow, but that waas OK since we were looking to relax. I would maybe go back because I did have a hard time deciding between several options, and there were some daily specials that sounded interesting. This is a gold themed restaurant/bar?......... It was quite surprising upon arriving to find that the TV's were on ESPN pre season football coverage instead of the PGA Championship. The were 7/10. crispy somewhat flavorful. My wide ordered the Thanksgiving Sliders. Those were 9/10. Great presentation and flavor. This food is fantastic! A few of my co-workers and I went there for lunch to check it out. There was only one other table filled when we were there so I hope they stay in business. The wait staff was a little slow during a lunch time but I think once they work out the 'new business in town jitters' this will be a "HOLE IN ONE!" Uninteresting environment. Four of us stumbled upon this place at the end of a long day. Everyone liked the food and the service was quite good. We were staying the the Hotel Arista and decided to try Tap In for dinner. My husband tried the tasting menu that was available due to Naperville restaurant week while I had a pastrami sandwich. The food was pretty good, but a little lackluster. The flavors didn't really pop like I would have hoped. It was a little frustrating since there was so much potential. There were a few portions of the meal that shined, like the house made dip for the potato skins. I would be willing to give them another try. I have been to this place 4 times now and have had very mixed experiences. The first time we went it was great. I had the pastrami and it was great. My son is 2 and he had a mac and cheese. This place is great for kids. All kids are $1 and they even have mini utensils. The 2nd time I had the popcorn shrimp which again was very good. However, my wife had a salad. The first one was not edible for my wife so they exchanged it for another which was better but still not great. The most recent time I again had the pastrami which seemed to be missing the mustard it had the first time. My wife had the turkey and it was extremely salty and she didn't eat it. My son got the kids chicken tenders which tasted Ok but at least half of them were extremely over cooked. I tried to eat one and it was insanely hard and overcooked.
