The service was fine but the food is a miss. Ordered smash burgers and I wouldn't call them smashed. The buns were soggy and the burgers fell apart while trying to eating. I had the OG smash burger and it was supposed to come with caramelized onions but none to be found. Very cool bar and casual restaurant inside the Hilton Hawaiian Village resort. Atmosphere, decor, and setting are great. Drink and food prices are reasonable considering the location. However, the service was definitely not up to the Hilton standards during this visit. Waitress Janice never asked our party of four if we wanted a second round of drinks, immediately dropped the check, never refilled water glasses or checked on our party during our one hour visit even though the crowd was light. Located at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Tapa bar is one of the outdoor bars on the property. This is a great place to socialize and have food & drink. The table service was OK. There is a strike going on right now at the property which has limited service. No one comes to the table to take food and drink orders. You now have to go to the bar and pay for everything before your order comes out. Because this is an open air restaurant, you cannot leave your table unattended as the birds will have a picnic and they are a bit aggressive. The food ordered was good. The mixed drinks were pretty good. Someone will come by the table and remove unwanted and trash items. What made this visit enjoyable was the live local band. They ssung songs from Bruno Mars to Sade. I would definitely visit there again but it would have to be after strike os over and normal operations have resumed. read more

I don't like sweets drinks but the bartender recommended I try their guava or passion fruit daiquiri best drink I've ever had. The two stars is for our waitress Meyer. She was lovely. The food: 1) Improbable Burger with waffle fries - $25 - he loved the burger, fries were cold. 2) Awful Waffle Fries- $15 - great concept in theory but the taste was horrible. The fries were cold, they threw a few pounds of shredded cheese that was not melted but clumped together. The waitress was attentive and refilled our cokes. Bands are fun and frequent! Always people hanging out every night so it's loud and fun! The food is just bar food and overpriced for what it is! I paid $28 for a basic Caesar salad with an added what appeared and tasted like a frozen chicken patty heated in the microwave so I only ate the lettuce!! It's a fun and easy to walk to hangout! Both the wife and I got the smash burger, hers a single while mine was a double. The burger was very delicious and a good portion of food. Not realizing what we had done, we also ordered the loaded waffle fries. They were delicious for sure, however if I were to do this again I would ask for the sour cream to be on the side as we got what seemed like a ladle sized serving of sour cream and it was too gigantic of a dal-up to efficiently put onto your cheese, bacon smothered waffle fry. The taste however was very delicious. The service was decent, nothing to brag about, but not horrible either. Met my extended family here on a Saturday night as they were staying in the Tapa Tower and we were next door in a different hotel. Our server was super friendly, attentive and checked on us often. Came on Christmas Eve for some drinks and they did not disappoint! The hostess at the front checked vaccination status and was doing a very thorough job. All staff we interacted with were so sweet and pleasant. I've now tried every flavor of frozen daiquiri (lol), and banana and mango are my favorites! Strawberry is a close runner up. None of the flavors seemed to be artificial- all fresh! Previous reviews seem to be right- they are generous with the pour here! I had to stop after two drinks. They do offer lids to take the drinks to go, which was great. Drinks are about 50 cents to a dollar more than the Tropics Bar and Grill, but I think the heavier pours make up for the cost. I don't expect a super affordable drink at the resort anyway. They were playing a Christmas movie at the bar, but it wasn't super loud. The vibes are good here! Great location inside Hilton Hawaiian Village. Drinks were good but couldn't taste alcohol in my lava flow. Music was good and service was adequate. Food was terrible both times we tried it. Pizza was so bad, I have had frozen pizza that was so much better. Loaded waffle fries had a very light layer of toppings and some sour cream. Not good at all but it at least filled us up. So the first pastrami Reuben we received was burned. I mean really burned. Even the meat. The server explained that it was the color of the rye bread. Yes, we know that rye is a brown almost chocolate color. However when you can taste burned bread and burned meat. Not cool. They said they would bring us another one. Cool, we waited for a new one. HOWEVER, the one we received was cold, and full of fat. At this point we realized the cook hates us and wants to play games. Our other meal was the "OG double smash burger" and it was FANTASTIC. And when you order during happy hour just make sure it's about 20 minutes before it ends. They must set their clocks forward 20 minutes so they can charge you regular price. What attracted us to this place was a giant list posted outside of happy hour times and what is included. We were staying at the Hilton where this bar located on the same property. Actually, the bar was right outside our tower so we wouldn't have to stumble far lol. We checked in just as happy hour started so we went to our room, settled in, ordered 2 Mai Tais, then walked around the property and enjoy being in Hawaii. There is a lot of tables and seating around the bar but I would approximate about 10-15 seats at the bar. The bar area was packed most of the times we visited or walked by. Every time we went to the bar to order drinks, the staff was welcoming and friendly. There were only a couple times we had to wait to be served. I ordered a Mai Tai every time we stopped here but hubs had to order beer because the Mai Tai was giving him heartburn lol. The drinks were strong, which is rare in most bars, especially in tourist places. We went one night before closing and ordered some drinks to walk on the beach with. I mean it's Hawaii so the tab was close to $40. It was still worth it to me. This is definitely a nice spot to stop at as your first drink of the vacation or after a long day of exploring. read more
