Me and someone else ate dinner here at 5PM, left and walked down to the beach to catch the sunset then walked back. Someone i was with wanted to go to one of the local places real quick so just sat at this place and listened to the live band that started playing until they came back to go up to the hotel. I was approached after about 10 minutes being asked if i was going to be having dinner and i said no and they walked away. 5 minutes later the same guy walked up and told that if i wasnt going to be giving them money then i needed to leave. I then informed him that i ate there less then 2 hours ago and they insisted that i need to leave. So about my dining experience, my drink tasted like it had contaminated ice, the second was better. I got the OG burger. There was hardly any "awesome sauce" and the burger was plain and tasted off. I also got the Loaded waffle fries and the fries were rock hard with old melted cheese at room temp with sour cream and onions added before bringing it out. Ive never had fries as hard as jawbreakers until here. The person i was with got the Margh pizza and they said it like getting a gas station pizza and very low quality. The person who waited on us was a woman and she was fine. I did alot of observation while eating and the second time i was here. There was constant birds flying around at close proximity to guests and overhead. Jumping on tables and tearing the yet to be bussed table apart for food. These birds would walk around on the ground alot to and even approach you. There was alot of bird feces on the ground, these birds would often jump around and be on the table tops of tables ready for guests. Drinks while i ate all came in plastic cups with straws and uncovered. I got a bottle beer and a coke to have with my food, and felt the need to keep my coke covered from all the birds flying around. Later when i was kicked out i noticed one persons drink was covered but it was for a woman so it may have been for other reasons. I saw them loading the straws and taking them out of the package with their hands and bumping the handful straight onto the bar then putting them into the straw container with sat on the bar uncovered. I strongly urge anyone to avoid this place, The food is unimpressive and even if it was its only a matter of time before the lack of sanitation will get you. My mom and I visited this open air bar in the middle of the Hilton resort twice during our vacation. They have live bands in the evening from 6-9. Both bands we saw were really good and had people dancing. The drinks are STRONG, which is unlike most resort bars. The bartender was super nice and recommended a drink when I was debating what to order. It was called an HLS (the meaning is not Yelp appropriate haha). It took one and I cut myself off. Came here on vacation in Honolulu. We weren't staying at the resort but you can eat at any of the restaurants without being a guest. You seat yourself and a waiter comes to you. It took about five minutes but he was super friendly and attentive. I ordered a piña colada which was good but I'm not sure there was any alcohol in it. It wouldn't surprise me if they skimp. For my meal I got the OG burger which was good but nothing crazy or special. My friend got the loaded waffle fries which she didn't finish. They had dumped a huge wad of sour cream on top so it was basically drowning in it. The prices here are outrageous and honestly not really worth it. The burger itself was $17 and it was an additional $6 for the side of waffle fries. Again, it was all good but you can get the same thing for the same quality for less money at the Island Country Market across the street from the resort. The biggest issue and really the reason for only three stars is the pigeons. They are everywhere and are quite aggressive. They hopped up on our table multiple times, even after we swatted them away. Our waiter even had to come over at one point to help because they were swarming us. I'm not sure there's anything that can be done about them because the entire restaurant is outside. It's ALL about the music and alcoholic beverages at this place for my entourage. The food is just pub food (burgers, pizza, etc) and I can't comment on those as we only came here after eating elsewhere almost every night we stayed in The Grand Waikikian tower in the Hilton village. The music was awesome every night from 7pm until they closed. Each band every night was different with different genres of songs. A Latina salsa band one night, but most were ones that played songs of 80's, some 70's, and 90's music. Let's face it the 80's had the best music...just saying. The drinks were good too with several local brews and the traditional Hawaiian drinks like Mai Tai's, Pina Colada's, Lava Flows, mojitos, and the worst drink ever invented the Blue Hawaiian! Sorry Elvis. If you like good club bands and a lively crowd, this is the place to hang out every night of the week after dinner while you are in Waikiki. Just don't yell out "Freebird" when they ask what you want to hear them play as they will probably do that 17 minute song with the blowout guitar solo . read more

Tapa Bar certainly surprised me in a good way and a bad way. The place has some amazing scenery and entertainment. There is a variety of different plants and decorations. Basically, It is very Hawaii themed. At night, the lighting is cozy and inviting for the people at the Hilton hotel. The warm atmosphere makes it easy to hang out and chat with others. There are lots of T.V's that show sports, news, etc. Also, at around 7:00, there is live music that is very comforting. Anyways, my friend and I, in search for food one night, stumbled upon Tapa's Bar. It was very convenient since it was pretty much right under our hotel. It was not too busy as there were many tables we could choose from. A few minutes upon arriving, we noticed some things. The scenery was nice, however there was lots of birds and trash around us. There were also not much staff. The waiter then came and asked us if we were ready to order. He was very nice and got our orders correct. Unfortunately, the food was wayyyy overpriced. 28$ for one little salad??! The food took around 15 mins which for pizza and a salad, was sort of long. The margarita pizza we ordered was nice and crispy. The salad, however was not what it lived up to be. It was not fresh and the chicken was cold. They did provide croutons and salad dressing to the meal though. The bar began to get busy when the live music began and the waiter forgot that he was serving us. It must have been a lot for him since there was barely any people managing the bar which is why they should try and get some more people for the job. The music got people excited and it was REALLY loud but nonetheless, it was quite the experience. I don't really know if I would recommend this place to anyone or go there again because it really is just okay. If you want to have a good place to hang out then this is perfect for that. We grabbed a table at about 7:30pm (the nearby pool had closed at 6pm so to consider this outdoor restaurant as "pool food" is a bit liberal). The margarita pizza crust was like cardboard and there was not a single tomato on the pizza - not sure if they know what a margarita pizza is supposed to look like). We ate at a "pool side" Marriott earlier in the day in Ko Olina and it was amazing - ahi tuna nachos, mahi mahi sandwich, and fish tacos were so delicious!! WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE: My wife and I have been enjoying good drinks and good atmosphere in all locations of Waikiki. The waitress (Brook) was one of the rudest people on the island...., actually, one of the rudest waitresses ever. She ignored our arrival, ignored our order and made it a point to skip our table numerous times. She attended the table to left of us and to the right of us before finally attending to us (it was obvious we were not welcomed). My wife, and our friends that were sitting with us, decided it was time to leave after just one drink. I'm not saying she's racist but it did feel like discrimination due to the fact that we were the minority inside the establishment. I would NEVER go back and put my wife and friends through this type of service. I'm a Marine Corps veteran and currently close to retirement with Law Enforcement and I have never had such horrible service during my tenure (details within the states). Brook, you need some serious training and come to the realization that you're a server and suck at it. You need a different profession. It's got nightly entertainment, and is open later than most places around the room. Not the best views because it's inside the hotel between towers. Holly has always been the worst waitress and rudest person any of us has ever met, but last night topped it off. We come to have fun and dance and visit. We tip well, and only want to move a table so we have room to dance. Holly wants to pull my table on front of the stage so we can't dance for no reason and we have never done anything to her. She needs to work from home so she doesn't need to serve her bad attitude to your customers. Also we would love to have a nice dinner here before the band starts! Please bring in some good food! Tapa Bar is not great. Seeing as though this restaurant is in such a prominent location of the resort, it was only a matter of time before my family and I tried it. Honestly, I wish we would have just went somewhere else. I ordered the "Singing the Blues Burger", and it was decent. Not great. The burger definitely had way too much blue cheese on it, and the "bacon" was mixed into the patty and not actually "on" the burger. Other than that the burger was fine -- but nothing I would really want to get again. My boyfriend got the meat lovers pizza -- and the way he and his father described it was "not even worth $3". For reference, that pizza costs about $26 dollars and is enough to feed two moderately hungry people (or one really hungry person). I was told that the pizza tasted no better than a frozen pizza -- and quite honestly, a frozen Digiorno pizza would have been better. I wanted to get the Nashville chicken bites, but our server let us know that they were nasty and to stay away. And in hindsight, I don't really think I saw anyone with them the whole time we were there. To be honest, the hot food the ABC Store sells is way better quality than the Tapa Bar food (and also much cheaper). Unfortunately on our 3rd night at this place we had the worst time. We had a $305 bill which wasn't the issue. We asked to put $200 in cash and the rest on the card. The server even came up and asked if that was what we wanted. We approved and she went and ran everything. Come to find out she ran the card for $305. Which was flagged by the card company, thankfully! So she needed another card to run. We gave her another card. She ran that card for $105. Which is fine. But later told us that she thought the $200 in cash was for tip. Which makes no sense as we told her when she came back that it was cash then card. She tried to take our money basically. Horrible. We were a group of adults and one child that came to have lunch here today. We placed an order at 12:30pm. By 1:20pm still no food; waiter was very apologetic but still no food; most of the food arrived at 1:35 as we were getting ready to ask them to cancel our order. Two dishes never arrived and showed up 30 min later; we told them we were no longer interested in those two dishes. No one provided any water to anyone at our table until it was pointed out and water cup brought to child. Service abysmal, food was nothing special (and cold - both the waffle fries and the wings). If you can avoid this place, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Proximity is the only thing it has going for it - that must be how Hilton gets away with such poor service. read more
