Wow! Tapas Angel is a top notch Iberian restaurant in Pioneer Square with Latin American influences. Small and cozy with amazing food and drinks. The service is impeccable! Diego is incredibly inviting and friendly and makes you feel at home in his beautiful restaurant. He's very knowledgeable about wine, vermouth and sherry and everything on the menu. We ordered the spinach salad with blueberry vinaigrette, the wild mushroom empanada and the pork empanada, prawns in a buttery sherry sauce, and manchego cheese with mānuka honey for dessert. All delicious. Their house made mojo verde and mojo picón are divine as well! Highly recommend the fried plantains and the pan seared octopus. Holy heck!!!! This was hands down THE BEST meal we have had in 2025, anywhere. We had pan con tomate (add burrata), setas empanada and picadillo empanada (OUT OF THIS WORLD) and ended with the albondigas which has now ruined every other meatball for us. Love this new place in pioneer square! Stopped in after seeing it on IG and I'm glad I did. It's super cozy inside with 2 and 4 tables set in an L shape in front of big picture windows. We grabbed a spot and Diego came right over to give us a survey of the menu: Empanadas: a must get, there's a vegetarian and meat option. I preferred the veggie and my husband preferred the meat. Regardless though - these empanadas were stuffed. And PERFECTLY crisp. I knew these folks were making food right! Next we ordered the arepa con queso which was good but it was not my favorite next to the empanadas. That's the beauty of tapas - being able to try a lot of different things! We were really attracted to the option of the octopus but decided to finish with the albondigas and the Maduros - which surprising to me went really well together. The albondigas pack some heat and warmth to them. The maduros were absolutely sublime. Service was so attentive - Diego made my husband and I feel right at home. There looks to be a solid beer and wine menu - about 6-8 different types of red and white each if I recall correctly all at reasonable price points. Upcoming brunch menu so I'm excited for that! Wow. We were upset that we didn't know about this hidden gem until now. Here were the things we took away: Diego, the owner, visionary, host, curator, and chef really made us feel at home. We don't often ask for menu advice, but we did. And Diego was able to give us a tour de force response about any item, ranging from his inventive takes on vermut, to his unique approach on preparing torrezno. It was easy to see how much he loves his craft - and how much he loves sharing it with diners. During the course of the meal, Diego came by a lot - always with a positive spin, asking for feedback, and making suggestions. Each additional dish, from the arepa to the camarones - simply marvelous with flavors that were flawless. One more example - the pan con tomate - we've had it at global mega-fancy Vegas-style elite-chef spots that you know well - but this version is, by far, the best we've ever had. Ok, if it's that good - are there any flaws? Sure, the biggest flaw is that the rest of Seattle still hasn't discovered why this spot is perfect for ladies' night, date night, and family night. I love this place, but I can't get a handle on what's going on there lately. They closed over the holidays and didn't update their website to reflect the closure. When you call, you get a message saying they are closed for repairs until January 17th. Tapas Angel off Pioneer Square was a fantastic discovery. Thanks to Seattle Foodies Facebook group, I was referred here for a unique experience. And they were right! Our server Diego was fantastic making suggestions and selecting wines. The food at a Colombian flare and was so delicious. From the confit tomatoe and burrata appetizer, to the garlic camarones, jerk fish tacos and a very interesting port belly corn dish with tasty sauces. We made the mistake of figuring we could find a restaurant a couple hours before a concert at T-Mobile Park. Oops. However, had not been for that poor planning we would never have discovered this gem tucked away near Pioneer Square. Featuring Iberian-inspired Cuban food, top to bottom the menu is fantastic. High quality dishes with top shelf presentation. The Ropa Vieja in particular was absolutely delicious and filling. And the house sangria will knock your socks off. The Food is phenomenal. It is so fresh and every bite tastes as if you just been served a home cooked meal. The service and ambience is also outstanding. I can't say enough about this place! My husband and I were finally able to try this place last night and can't wait to go back. The flavors in the food are unlike anything we've had in Seattle. We tried the empanadas, spinach salad, arepas con queso with pork belly, and the Cuban peasant dish-I can't remember the name but it was shredded flank steak marinated in wine with mashed sweet potatoes. It was humble to look at and incredible to taste. Speaking of wine, there's an amazing Spanish and South American wine list that Diego will gladly walk you through. And probably the best sangria I've had and I'm not usually a sangria drinker. Diego provided excellent service and we are excited to have his shop in the neighborhood. We are looking forward to the alfresco dining after construction on Yesler connects to the waterfront promenade. But until then we'll cozy up inside and watch the comings and goings in the historic neighborhood. read more

Thanks so much for the amazing food and kind hospitality. We read the great review in the Seattle Times and had to try the Cuban Pork Sano. Also we got the tasty fries, the WONDERFUL fish tacos which where so generous, and the fish so tender! Everything served with delicious sauces and so wonderful to have amazing food and such a wonderful ambiance! From the outside you see just another cool old brick building in Pioneer Square, but as soon as you enter, you are transformed into a wonderful world. Don't be fooled by the modest size of this restaurant. The minute you walk in, you know you are in a special place. The aromas wafting from the kitchen nailed it for us! We ordered the spinach salad (Espinaca) which was full of fresh ingredients and flavors and presented beautifully. It was big enough for two people to share. Next came the mushroom turnover (Setas Empanadas) and the truffle oil and mozzarella made us want another one. We moved on to the Blue Corn Fish Tacos, made from house made blue corn tortillas. The black beans infused with the cucumber salsa and creamy jerk sauce were perfect for the fish. Along with that dish, we ordered the Cuban Black Beans and Rice; so delicious with subtle seasoning and flavor. As incredible as the food and presentation were, our favorite element of this restaurant is the owner Diego. Not only does he know his wine and can patiently explain the nuances of the different regions, he is passionate about the food and making the dining experience one of a kind. He did not disappoint!
