I'm told it gets pretty packed on the weekend so if you're looking for a table, make sure to make a reservation 24hrs ahead. The cheese platter comes with bread and pickled veggies - interesting cheeses if you have an open mind. Their portions are large as well, able to to take half of have them home. I got chicken with arugula salad, it may sound understated but it is heavenly. Filling but not heavy. We got a bottle of their promo red for restaurant week and wanted a second! It is a really nice place for celebrating . They have a bottle of really good wine just for $16 . The bar is so fancy and good for chilling , hang out and having fun . Their food is pretty big and cheap. Cheese plate for just $9. The new year getting so crowded while they open the rooftop to see the fireworks but still give you the best service which is impressing. Seeing fireworks from there although we were freezing was fun. Their meatball is amazing, however if you do not eat pork, do not ordered because it is half beef and half pork. I've always liked Tappo, the food is great, never had any problems! But yesterday I went with a friend for dinner on the rooftop & roughly 15 minutes after finishing our meals, the bus boy asked us to leave because they were busy & needed our table. It was shocking, we ordered 3 drinks total, an app, 2 meals, over $100 for our bill. And still, 15 minutes after finishing the meal - we were asked to leave! I hadn't even finished my drink. We were there less than an hour & a hour in total. If this is now standard procedure, can't say I'll return back. read more

We stopped by here while at Niagara Falls and it did not disappoint. MAKE RESERVATIONS though!! We walked in and were initially told that we would not be seated at all for the night. We were given the option to wait for a spot at the bar but due to Covid, most of the bar spots were blocked off. We decided to wait anyway and got super lucky. As we were waiting near the host booth, someone called and cancelled their reservation. They allowed us to fill that spot. The place was clean and had exposed brick and beam with 3 garage bay doors at the front. It was a cool look. They also have something I've never seen before!! On the outside they have these little green houses that house tables. Guests can eat in there. This makes so much sense for the upcoming winter. It was super unique. I heard that they also have igloos they'll put out when the weather gets nasty. I got the chicken Milanese with a salad and she got the eggplant Parm and pasta. We also got cheese garlic bread. All of it gets the same review.... SO GOOD!! Our server was great. I don't remember her name but she was outstanding. She gave us samples of the sangria options to help make our decision. Went with a group of 13 on a Saturday at 6 pm. We had reservations and were seated right away. I ordered a Lover Boy a whiskey and aperol cocktail, and it was very good. We had late reservation on the roof top. The weather was beautiful and the setting really nice. We started with several appetizers including the ricotta ball, cheese board, warm bread, cheese bread, and meatballs. All of the appetizers we served hot and the were really good essentially the ricotta ball, the cheese board was uneventful but decent.Although would not order the warm bread again as it was uneventful. The party of eight ordered various menu items and we shared among all of us. Lets start with the special lobster risotto, this was served hot and was very good, spaghetti and meatball are hearty and the sauce is not a sweet sauce as i prefer but my guests enjoyed it along with the lasagna. The only negative for me personally was the wine. We ordered a couple of reds and whites, both reds seemed they were not stored properly and corks were dry and it pulled through in the taste. I think the best way to judge an Italian restaurant is by the lasagna. You can gauge the quality of their red sauce/ragu, a few different cheeses and the pasta. Tappo's lasagna did not disappoint. The sauce was tomatoey and flavorful, the cheeses were great with a whole slab of mozzarella right on top and the pasta was perfectly cooked. It all just tasted great. No complaints about the vibe, cleanliness and food/drink selection at all. I ordered the pasta with vodka sauce. It originally comes with sausage but I asked for chicken instead. Our waitress failed to mention the almost $10 up charge for some chicken upon ordering. I probably still would have ordered it but I would have appreciated a heads up. I also asked for penne pasta specifically, and got rigatoni. Not the hugest deal but for the price we paid I wish I would've gotten exactly what I wanted. The vodka sauce was just OK for me - it honestly didn't even taste like vodka. I didn't really like the flavor. My friends enjoyed their food; again, we would have appreciated some sort of heads up about the various up charges. I mean, charging us for a small marinara dipping sauce to go with our bread? I typically like trying new restaurants rather than going to the same one over and over again but Tappo is one of a few in Buffalo that I need to go back to. It is a cool place that's perfect for many occasions, a night out with friends, a family dinner, or a date night, anything!! I ordered the house salad which was a really good size and then the "meatball bomber" sandwich. I would get this every time I return. It was a big sandwich; I split it (along with getting the house salad) and was perfectly content. The sandwich itself is about 5 mouth watering meatballs, with the perfect covering of melted cheese, stuffed between a nicely toasted baguette. The other items on their menu looked quite delicious as well...but trust me...get the meatball bomber. Tappo can get kind of loud. I went on a weekend night so obviously that doesn't help but they do have rooftop seating as well so if you are able to sneak a spot up there I am sure it is more relaxing. Between your after work happy hour to date night, this place is great for ANY occasion. I normally order the spaghetti and meatballs, even though it sounds boring .. the taste isn't! But this time I opted to try one of the specials, Pasta Alla Vodka with a side of meatballs :) it's not your average vodka sauce, it seems like it has more of a red sauce base but it's delicious and not as heavy as normal cream. I didn't get the pleasure of eating in at this restaurant, so know that this review is based off their takeout service. We were far too exhausted to adventure out that night, but i'm grateful for the Mansion's connection with Tappo! To be honest, we weren't even that hungry. We figured that Italian food was too hard to mess up, right? It has to be good anywhere. Tappo had a fairly classic menu with very reasonable prices. To our surprise, it was literally, and we stand by this, some of the best Italian food we've ever had. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. The portion was HUGE. So often, places skimp on the sauce, and this entree was doused with their delicious, thick, meat-flavored sauce. The 5 meatballs were rather large and had a delicious garlicky kick. My guest had the eggplant parmesan, and again, it was huge and wonderful. We were so full, and so happy, that we didn't even need to eat breakfast the next day. This was a pretty good spot to get some dinner. When I saw that this place was a wine bar, I just thought, "Ok, fancy Italian restaurant." I wasn't expecting the place to be playing classic rock music hahaha. We came here with a group of six and were seated at a very large, round table. We thought it was too big and requested another. The lady initially seated us said, "We can't do that," and kept us seated there. Then we asked our waitress and she said, "Sure," and seated us at a smaller table. (Props to our waitress, boo to the lady at the door). Anyways our server was great and our food was delicious. A little heavy on the cheese at times but we were all satisfied by the end of it.
