We were visiting the area and decided to give this place a try. We were met with a smile, seated promptly and just had an all great experience. The salsa was the tastiest we've had in years. It was the perfect balance of tomatoes, onions, cilantro and lime. It was chunky and light. Just yummy! I had the 3 taco meal with Chicken, Carnitas and Barbacoa tacos. They were all very fresh and delicious. I ordered a side of guacamole which was also delicious. My husband ordered the flautas with Mexican rice and refried beans which was also very delicious. This place is authentic, amazing, and a hidden gem! I have tried San Luis for the last two Sundays in a row now. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. Immediately after entering I was greeted by the owner on both occasions. He is friendly and you can tell he is very passionate about people and his restaurant. The food is very authentic and fresh. I especially found the shrimp to be very fresh. Not rubbery or fishy like I have experienced at other places sometimes. The Chicken and steak are also tender as well as delicious also. Their tacos taste like they are made with homemade patted out tortillas and are definitely a must try. My favorite thing is the Texas fajitas nachos because the freshness of the vegetables and meats are unmatched. They are located not far from Henderson and Berwick so try them out if ever in the area! read more

Located just a couple of miles from I-95 exit #94 near Savannah! If you're passing through and hungry, do yourself a favor and find this gem! This is a small restaurant, clean, tastefully decorated. The menu is pretty typical of most Mexican restaurants. The service was impeccable, and the manager stopped by our table twice to be sure we were happy. We had a party of 8 and were not automatically charged a tip. We were happy to tip generously for the excellent, fast, and friendly service we received. The cheese dip was super good. It had chilis or maybe jalapeños. It had just a little bite, and was delicious. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their lunch. Portions were generous. I had come across 3 great reviews from different sources. I came to this place several times last year when it was a BBQ place. Had a military theme, Stripes? At any rate. I wanted to try thIs new strip mall Mexican place that was so highly regarded. I was disappointed. We walked in and 5 minutes later 4-5 tables came in We got menus quick enough but it took forever to place an order. Food was slow. I could excuse the service but they also forgot a refill on chips. We went with the basics. I got a chicken burrito and my wife got shrimp tacos. Just shrimp and a shell. No lettuce, no cheese, tomato or sauce. Just small shrimp, My chicken burritos was about the same quality. It had a lot of lettuce and a small line of chicken. Totally unremarkable. The chips and salsa were the best part. Warm chips and a tasty salsa. The menu had many authentic dishes and specialties so I think we will return to try other menu items. I was so excited to see this location open up closer to us. We decide to go today and actually sit in. We usually visit their other location. The restaurant is off of Ogeechee and they've taken over the old 3 Tops locations. We got in on Saturday at lunch time and they were Busy! We had one server; the owner and he was so friendly and attentive although busy. He was attending the bar, and 5 tables and everyone was smiling. We had taco plates, and our baby enjoyed rice. He approved on their rice, and finished his entire plate. We also found out they serve menudo on the weekends and we had to try it. The food was delicious. We had no doubts it would be. The portions were HUGE. We also enjoyed a beer and a margarita. I must say the margarita was one of the best I've had in Savannah. The establishment was also very clean although tables were constantly changing. They had multiple people coming in. We paid $75 with tips. Final verdict: I just know they're going to do amazing here! The food is delicious. The service is great. And the atmosphere is great. This is an amazing place to get value for your money & they are a LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS. It was my first time going here yesterday with a friend. This place made me happy to try something new! Immediately as I walked in, I was comforted with the fact that the restaurant has regulars. It has a good sized tables for 4 - you choose your own seating, and the napkins and sauces are already at the table. Only thing I may request next time is a spoon to scoop up all the leftover filling from my tacos. The menus were also easy to read and had an English description for Spanish words like Pollo, Carne Asada, etc so you understand which type of meat you'd like. The menu signs are split up by choice of meat and the options on how you'd like your meat (aka taco, quesadillas, tostada, etc) is underneath each meat choice, making it easy to realize that you can get each type of meat prepared with all the same options. Each option is just one of that item making it accessible to mix and match (I got three different tacos). For the tacos, at least, you can have your choice of "Everything" which is how the restaurant prepares the tacos or "Traditional" the traditional way/more simple way of preparing the taco. Don't be afraid to ask for clarification! I got the "Everything" option for all my tacos and it was delicious!! I also requested to try both the spicy and mild sauces for my tacos (they hand you the bottles and you pour at your leisure), and they were also tasty! I believe the sauces are also made in house! Not only do they make their sauces in house but their tortillas too! - And fresh juices! If you're curious about a juice like my friend and I were, the staff actually let us have a tasting cup of it. We tried the watermelon juice and it was so yummy and fresh! But, if you don't want homemade juices they also have a selection of Mexican bottled justices and sodas, as well as other drink options. Overall, I was very delighted with my experience and would be coming back to try more! Highly recommended going in and trying for yourself if you're craving some Mexican food that isn't just your usual chain restaurant... or even those big sit down restaurants that are loud and crowded. Went in about 2pm on a Tuesday. The atmosphere was pretty typical, I was expecting it to be much busier. Nothing outstanding or notable. The small basket of tortilla chips were subpar according to my friend. The salsa was a little watery, which was disappointing because I feel like that can really set you apart since most Mexican restaurants serve chips and salsa. Pretty basic. I ordered an asada torta and fries and there was no seasoning on my steak in my torta. Besides the topping on the sandwich, it was kinda bland. Also no seasoning on the fries.
