The wet super burrito is massive and mine was packed with carnitas, pinto beans and all the fixings. On their board menu it said "super wet burrito", so that confused me for a second. Lol. The nachos order is big too though I might ask for yellow cheese and pinto beans next time instead of shredded cheese and refried beans. I like their blend of horchata too. It was slow and not crowded for a Sunday after 6 pm. I filled some of the tiny round containers with sauces, limes, and marinated veggies while waiting for my to go order. I've frequent this taqueria a hand full of times and it's the closest mission style taqueria up here in pinole. It's always good service, tasty dishes with decent prices. That's why us humans go back. BUT when u charge extra for a certain type of proteins, there's room for questioning. So I ordered super nachos with carne asada as my meat and a small bottle coke. The total amount came to $24.40, I was surprised. I looked closer to the receipt and it was an extra $2.00 for the asada. Please just add it on the price or put it on the menu "extra for Carne Asada" so we don't get a little receipt shock. $25 dollars for super nachos and a small bottle of coke. TLDR: still 4 stars for me Since they first open, service has gotten quicker. It took approximately 15mins to get my food after ordering whereas it took over 30 mins when they first opened a couple years ago. I think the food still tastes great and there's not many other options in the area. However I just realized they do not clearly inform guests of a 3% credit card surcharge on the menu. This feels like violation of the California "hidden fees" law. This won't deter me from coming back but I hope they make this clear on their menu. We came back today and enjoyed their La Cocina tongue burrito. Burrito's a little more than 15. Overall $22 per burrito after tax and tips which is quite expensive but it's the Bay Area and that's what you pay nowadays for a good burrito. I do wish their chips were fresher. The chips are always borderline stale here. Unfortunately they don't compare to my favorite taqueria in Napa but this is a good place in the East Bay. read more

Came here as the El Cerrito location no longer offer a fish dinner plate. I ordered the Tilapia plate and my partner ordered the Chimichanga with shredded chicken Togo. When we got our food home, my ordered turned out to be a whole fish with head and all but found it nice and crispy with a great flavor! It came with fluffy Spanish rice with great flavor along with choice of beans. The Chimichanga was good but didn't travel well as it wasn't as crispy as we had hoped but was still good as well! The food here is pretty good. They have great salsa and its nice and clean on the inside. Service was pretty fast, I usually order on door dash but today I felt like stopping in. I spoke with the lady at the front she had a nice smile. I ordered the taco salad and a steak taco both were pretty good. Next ill be trying g out the burrito. There is a self-serve sauce stand with about 8 different sauces. There's a self-service water dispenser. Order at the counter and your food is brought to you. We came here for lunch on a weekday and there was plenty of space for dining. Seemed like local workers came in for their lunch. The Pina (pineapple) Agua Fresca was light in flavor (not sure if it was watered down). I liked the Mojado Burrito Carne Asada- diced meat with red sauce that was not too spicy. We also tried the Super Burrito Cabeza (cheeks) - looks like shredded corned beef, had tendons and was tender and juicy. I would get takeout from this restaurant too. For my last few times I've placed my order over the phone, my orders took longer to make because the order was taken wrong (don't know the menu/POS system), wasn't even made yet even though I called over 30mins prior and told it would only be 20mins, or supposedly the order was "accidentally given to someone else". I was in the area and came here for lunch, this hidden gem is located next to a bowling alley. Parking lot was pretty big and easy to find. The place looks modern and classy, in the front I was greeted by a sincere person. I ordered two carne asada tacos, a Al pastor burrito and a Jamaica drink. While waiting for the food I found myself a table and helped myself to the salsa and pickled veggie bar. I looked at the cooks make the food as the kitchen was relatively open. The food was delivered to the table and it smelled delicious. They also provided chips at no cost. The tacos were loaded with meat and flavor. Additionally adding the different salsas from the bar, I could not stop stuffing my mouth. Would definitely recommend the tacos. One senior packing up her purchase of food to go and two more seniors (us) waiting for our dine-in order. Bad acoustics possibly. If they must have music, was happy to hear music in Spanish being pumped in. Thank You Management for getting rid of whatever that was playing on our last visit. Atmosphere is half the dining experience. Food was tasty and nicely plated like during our last visit. The food server was friendly. We did have a knot of inedible dough substance- same as in my last chili relleno (picture) visit. I was just barely able to separate the crispy knot from the edible section using a fork and knife. My silly wife said she would eat the knot but she had to give up. Also we had to ask for the complimentary corn chips again. Like during our last visit. Pretty consistent place. Nice and clean. Went here with the family on a Thursday night. They were pretty steady while we were there. We had super steak burritos and quesabirra tacos. They have a salsa bar and the restaurant was pretty clean throughout. Not sure if they clean up after you or you take your own trash. There is a trash can with a dish bucket near the front door so we dumped out trash. Menu boards are tv's and they sever Horchata, Jamaica and Pina drinks fresh. They even cover them with a heat sealed boba lid. (I thought was cool) Salsa was not too hot probably because I like everything habanero! The burritos were good and filling. Only issue with the burritos were the steak was a bit under-seasoned or under marinated. The quesabirria tacos got to thumbs up! They give you your own basket of chip instead a single larger basket for sharing. Finally service was great and they were very friendly and I will say the food comes out quick. Hot new and yummy taqueria takes over the previous Kyoto Ramen spot in Pinole! Loved the complimentary salsa and chip bar which had the works - several different salsas, limes, pickled veggies. There's a water station in the front, tapatio on the tables, and a restroom in the back. Got a few super burritos (grilled chicken, shrimp and steak) and a super nachos with carnitas. Portions were huge! My surf and turf burrito was delicious and it had ample filling ingredients, tender shrimp, flavorful steak. The nachos were good but the chips needed to be cooked a little longer as some were not as crispy. For to go orders they pack in chips but don't forget to grab your salsa from the bar. I decided to give Taqueria la Cocina a try this afternoon. It was busy but not packed for a Sunday afternoon. I ordered a bean and cheese and a vegan burrito. Fyi, burritos do not include chips. There is an unlimited salsa bar though. The food was prepped and served very quickly. My major issue is that the tortilla needs to be heated/grilled more. It tasted just like the tortillas that you get from a package. Nothing too special with the burritos. The ingredients were standard and nothing stood out. I've been here so many times since I found out they opened. I think it's about 12 times in the last 3 weeks. I can't help it! At the most legit taquerias/taco stands I've been to, there's buche offered. Some of the things I look for in a good Mexican spot is if: 1. They serve buche 2. The buche is good 3. Chips and salsa self serve And they're 3/3 on these. I've had all of the different tacos at this point, and they do a good job with all the different . meats. The buche and Al pastor are crispy, the cabeza is super juicy, and the grilled chicken has a nice char and light seasoning to it. Their chips are crispy and light kinda reminds me of the chevys chips but better. My favorite salsa is the (tametada?Its the salsa in the back left corner of the salsa bar) and the habanero one. The only things I wish they had was a second green salsa, and just a slightly more durable cup for their smoothies. I dropped mine in the car and the side of the cup split open. Not a big gripe with me because I dropped it but never had a cup burst open like that off a small drop in the car. Placed a phone order, 3 super carne asada burrito and 1 regular carne asada burrito. Didn't tell me it's extra for carne asada, found out when I picked it up total $78.00!!! We go here for the convenience but it's a hit or miss sometimes it's okay, sometimes it's good but today was not good at all. It usually comes with sour cream and guacamole but today it was mostly beans and rice and a fat roll of tortilla AND the carne asada we paid for extra had very hard parts you couldn't chew. So not only do they charge extra for carne asada they used the cheapest meat where you need to spit it out or you would choke!!!
