I came here a few times during my high school years, and finally had this place again after many years - and I think I know why. This was one of the only grab and go tacqueria places open on Sunday on Park St. They are smart to close on Monday while the others are open, because I was wondering why all my regular go to places were closed. The interior is pretty updated, and there was virtually no line when I came around 1PM. I ordered a Beef Super Burrito, and I was treated like a local when I'm an ex-local haha. The service and people working there are all very friendly, and maybe assumed we've been before since they started asking some basic ingredients in Spanish (that we didn't understand). The Super Burrito portion size is okay, and I realized there was a lot of guacamole and sour cream compared to the rice/beans/protein. They also have lettuce which I found a bit unauthentic, but I guess you cater to your local audience preferences. The overall ingredient ratio made the burrito a little heavier and wetter than I expected, and didn't exactly feel full after sharing one with my wife compared to other tacquerias where they load up the super burrito. They kinda skimp on the burrito stuffs, and their portions feel more like regular portions instead of saving another half as leftovers. I've been coming here since 1977 when I was a sophomore in high school. One of the workers bought it from Romero and son's owner a year or 2 ago. They have some of the best chicken I've ever tasted. When they were closed to remodel it, I went elsewhere looking for a good chicken burrito. I couldn't find one to match there's anywhere. Along with the chicken quesadilla. As a first timer, it was nice to see the folks behind the counter know peoples orders without them ordering... we came end of day and didn't get any of the meats we wanted. No more chicharron or chile verde. Another usual customer was surprised to hear chile verde sold out and muttered "but that one never sells out..." Good enough deal to get the burrito and can soda for $14. Burrito itself was good enough. Not something i would crave for though. The tortilla was my favorite part. I wish they tightened the burrito roll. They don't give a lot of meat. The steak one was basically falling apart while eating it. The Carnitas was not chopped up, just few big dry chunks to work on... no slurpability to my burrito which knocks off a star... the salsa was definitely medium to hot heat level spice. I for sure needed the coke to help me finish my burrito without suffering from the heat too much. I will definitely want to try coming again for the chicharron. Hopefully it will be a better experience considering we went closer to the closing time. More chicken than chips, it would've been better if the chicken was actually seasoned instead of just plain shredded chicken. Very good burritos in a foody part of town. Decor is 1980s taqueria which gives hope. They make it right in front of you. I got the supreme burrito carnitas with everything. A nice large portion. Not quite two meals worth but certainly 1 1/2. Lots of avocado and sour cream made it delicious and the carnitas was juicy and tasty. I was salivating by the time the owner was chopping it all up. Not too much indoor seating but plenty outdoors if the weather is nice. I have been going to this taqueria since the mid 90's, as a student of Alameda High School. Never have I felt so disrespected and as disappointed as today, being addressed as a "Negra", by the owner! The tall older man making the food.( Negra meaning black girl) A business should never address a customer by their ethnicity, I felt highly disrespected. That's like me saying, "Hey white girl" to and a respectable Caucasian adult woman, who has patronized my business for decades. That just showed me, they didn't deserve my money. Best taqueria on Alameda!! I got a carnitas super burrito and with tax it was only $13.50. It was also really big!! You'd have to be pretty hungry to be able to finish it. Loved that the proportion of everything was even throughout and that they grilled the outside of the burrito. So I went in, looked over the menu, and ordered a Regular Beef Burrito w/ Green Sauce. BTW, you need to upgrade your menu board to handle prices above $9.99. A Reg Burrito is $10.50. not $1.05. Someday, someone will get confused and make a big deal out of it. So I take my beef burrito home. I weigh it, measure it, and slice it open. It's pretty much the same in weight (20-oz) and length (8-9 inches) as other places. What's different is the filling.....lots of beef. Beef, rice, beans and salsa. Good, tasty, and easy to eat. A touch of heat to grab your attention. All those 5-star Yelp reviews are legit! This is great food, prepared by a great restaurant! The restaurant has a spacious interior, with some small tables. This is a quaint place that is not only spotless, but easy to follow menu! Very much like a cafe! The staff is extremely polite and all of them are helpful and happy! Based on my observation, the seating capacity indoor is 12 people. However, there is outdoor dining in front of the business. Street parking is slim or none. No worries, as there is a public parking lot next door. Specialties: burritos, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, a variety of sides (rice, beans, chips), canned sodas and bottled beverages, paletas for $2.00. Eats: super carne asada burrito with the usual fixings of beef, rice, cheese, pinto beans, tomato salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Cost: $13.29 (tax included). The beef was a tad bland, but the rest of the ingredients made up for blandness along with the small container of salsa verde. (3.5 stars) Service was friendly and quick. I didn't have to wait long. Male employee taking my order worked it like clockwork. LOL. What's lacking? Agua frescas (piña, mango, sandia, cantaloupe, horchata in the large barrels) and tamales. I am a lifelong customer from when it was Taqueria Ramiro and now Mi Burrito, but I was also a customer when it was Joe's Talk of the Town in Oakland. I've been eating their food for over 40 years. The salsa recipe is the same and I drench my food in it. This is the place I go to when I have had a bad breakup, no lie. I'll have a chicharron burrito or chicharron plate and will start feeling like the bad b*tch that I really am immediately. They don't mess around here. Good portions and fast service. They will often be making five other orders while making yours, so if you think they are getting your order wrong, they are not. Just mind your business and wait for your food. This is a good place to practice your Spanish too. I always order in Spanish and the person taking my order will help me pronounce words right. If that's not community, then I don't know what is. I ordered a beef super burrito for takeout. I don't normally get burritos as they make me feel really full and borderline groggy after eating them, but this burrito had a really clean taste to it. Every ingredient complemented each other well, and the proportions were good. Plus, the burrito was really big, so I was able to save the other half for a second meal. Inside, the restaurant is really clean and kind of big too. When I went on a Sunday afternoon, there was no other customers there. The service was pretty standard.
