Have tried this restaurant twice, and was extremely impressed upon dining here for the second time. The chips & salsa appetizer provided is warm and tasty. We ordered the Brussels sprouts as an additional app and the vegetable tacos for the main. The Brussels were fantastic, crispy and somewhat sweet, while the vegetable tacos were surprisingly tasty as well. Only issue is the restaurant is rather small and tight, and our service was somewhat slow but it appeared our waiter was the only one staffed for the whole restaurant. Will be back again! read more

WOW!!! This restaurant is an absolute gem. My husband and I had a staycation in Dallas and wanted to check a new place out. Based on their incredible reviews, we had to go!!! Our brisket tacos and tacos al pastor (made with handmade corn toritillas) were wonderful! Best of all was our AMAZING waitress Christa...again WOW!!! She was so friendly, helpful with choices (let us try their eye rolling mole sauces), and perfectly attentive. This was our first time here and we were very impressed. The food was delicious and you could taste how fresh everything was, portions were decent but not huge (so don't expect leftovers, though you'll definitely get enough). The guacamole tasted amazing and had beautiful presentation, it had pickled onions which I didn't think I would love (I did) and it had a spicy kick. Chips are fresh and homemade, definitely not out of a bag. Service was great and the staff was very friendly towards our dog. The second we sat down they brought him a water bowl without asking and that alone shows how hospitable they were the whole time. We got Ronaldo as our server who was so friendly and on top of things, checking on us and offering refills without hovering. I recommend the guacamole, the Carmen tacos (shrimp), pío Pío tacos (chicken), and the cheesecake (basically everything we had). We'll definitely be back! read more

I heard about Taquero via Instagram so I decided to stop by on my way home. The weather was perfect so I sat outside on the patio. I started out the queso topped with brisket and corn. So creamy and delicious. Lots of flavor. For my meal, I ordered the taco platter. The waiter Ronaldo was kind enough to ask the chef if I could mix up the taco combination instead of just having two of the same tacos. I had the chicken taco and one of the beef tacos. The chicken was very moist and tasty. The beef taco was just as delicious. It seems as if the tortillas are made in house because they tasted very fresh. If so, that immediately elevates this place from other places serving tacos. You can never go wrong with house made tortillas! The manager brought by a sample of their version of a cheesecake. When I say we too well I'm not joking however being dismissed as patrons we tipped according to her presence which was elusive and so was our tip she followed us to our car and yelled that "we need to tip when people serve us" and I agreed that if she came to the table as fast as she did my vehicle she would have gotten compensated Without a doubt let our track record speak but I did take that opportunity to remind her she is powerless to us outside of those four walls and and we will not be returning for more stellar service so sad to see it go town the toilet but Dallas is booming with nightlife and it won't be missed . They need to listen rather than talk over their customers. The situation was easily remedied but they weren't even understanding what I was asking and they got frustrated and hung up on me. I had a reservation for 2 separate tables. I was simply asking if they could be combined. But they told me I was being "dishonest" and trying to have a large party. What would it matter? I could have had one other person make a separate reservation and it would've been the same thing. Secondly, they could make their website reflect their policy and just make it so you could pay the fee they required. Third, they could've called me after I put in the reservation if they had a problem. Overall, reservations and communication is a problem here. read more

Our experience here was good. Especially the food and service. The creamy ceviche is excellent. So were the chorizo tacos, which are made entirely in-house by the enormously talented chef. My creamy poblano chicken dish was superb. The totopos aren't particularly my favorite iteration and tend more toward a "Northern Cali-Mex" or perhaps Yucatan style -- very large, thick, crunchy, and heavy. I personally prefer a lighter tortilla chip along the lines of customary North Texas TexMex (e.g. Gloria's or Mi Cocina). However, the accompanying salsas were creative, different, and tasty. The skinny margaritas were certainly passable taste-wise but as is mostly the case in Dallas, I strongly suspect them as being not really all that "skinny" in reality. Taquero has real potential. The interior could use a bit of a facelift. But even as it now stands, Taquero is definitely worth a visit. Not bad at all. read more

Very special place! I decided to dine out for dinner and Taquero was on my Airbnb host recommendation dining list. I didn't know what I was in for. From the moment I entered the restaurant my unforgettable experience started. I'm catered to like a queen and I promise this isn't an exaggeration of any kind. What I noticed which was big to me was the level of clear collaborative effortlessness service the staff had with each other. Though James was my server, I was served by several people and not bcuz he needed help at all. The staff just moved in harmony, assuring not one detail of the dining experience would be forgotten or lack anything. I loved it! My Brussels sprouts were amazing, my scallops were too, the small cocktail was icing on the cake!!! What a gem. Very relaxing and authentic atmosphere with warm service. They have 3 seating areas - patio, enclosed glass room, and normal inside. They serve 3 salsas at beginning. All delicious but the green one was personal favorite - could (did) drink that stuff. The star for me is the ceviche fino (snapper).
