I met a friend for lunch here and was looking forward to it for a long time because I have really come to like Banditos a lot. I arrived before my friend and grabbed a booth and immediately our server, Sam G., was there for my drink order. While I waited, I enjoyed the free chips and salsa. The salsa had a nice kick. The chips were thin, light and crispy, not greasy at all. They were pretty much the perfect chips. After my friend arrived we ordered. He got his usual quesadillas while I ventured into new territory, I usually get their crispy taco platter but today I had the Neuces (not sure of the spelling but it is in the Classics section). It came with a crispy taco, cheese enchilada with chili on top, and a chicken fajita enchilada with sour cream sauce. Everything was very tasty. The taco shell was incredibly crispy and the ground beef was well seasoned. The chili on the cheese enchilada was a little spicy but not overpowering, so I really enjoyed it. The ambience is laid back and casual. The only bad thing about going for lunch on weekday is that I can't enjoy a margarita (or two). Throughout my dining experience in this restaurant there was a rancid smell in the air which smelled as if it was coming from a problem with the plumbing or pipes. The service was not great either, the waiters took a long time to take out order and it took quite a while to get the check. The food was alright but they lack staples like potatoes for the Breakfast menu. Despite this the decorations and the music was a nice touch. It's Friday night - and I'm in the mood for fajitas. So we began our chase across many restaurants to find the right spot. Several places had an hour wait, and they was not going to do for me. I was hungry. So, my husband and I remembered a Mexican restaurant tucked away in Snyder Plaza we haven't been to in many years. We didn't have to wait for table - that was a plus. The food was really good. Yes, I got my fajita fix, and they were yummy. They have homemade flour tortillas (thats a win for me) and the cheese for my fajitas fixins (yes, I'm from Texas so thats what we call them) was freshly shredded (another win). And I don't want to forget about the loaded queso - delicious!!! Don't skip out on this one. It's worth it! Now for the atmosphere. It's not a big place, and the layout of the restaurant is very efficient. It's long and narrow. I don't know how many people can fit into this place, but it was packed. And yet, there were no issues getting in and out of this narrow restaurant. The bar was full (makes sense - it's Friday night). And this is all leading up to the fact that it was overwhelmingly loud. I came here for the first time, and I have to say when I got here, it was packed, but it began to die down after 7. They are part of Katy Trail Ice House. I must say the food is Tex-Mex, and it was pretty good--not bad at all, just what I expected from a Tex-Mex place. It is small width-wise but long, so there are plenty of seats. They do have a hostess, and it seems that on weekend nights it gets packed. I really love the vibe; it feels like a nice neighborhood bar with locals, and it's easy to chat with people. The bartender, 'Reed," is a great guy, full of energy--love it. I had the Brazos plate, which came with beef, chicken, and cheese enchiladas, along with a beef taco. Everything was delicious. I ate all that and forgot to take a picture. Overall, I had a wonderful first experience and will be coming back. They have happy hour Monday through Thursday, from 3 to 6. read more

The first restaurant we went to had over an hour wait, so we made ourselves down the road a little bit and found a different place. It was a place we had not been to in years, so it was a welcomed return to what was once a familiar haunt. It is a bit overwhelming when you walk in Bandito's...it is REALLY loud. Other than at times it was almost deafening, there is a great energy in the place. Also unique about this place is that the shape of the restaurant is not a big square like most places. It is a long shotgun style place. They were busy, but we were seated immediately. Our server, Billy, was with us momentarily. He did a good job during our whole time there. We ordered an appetizer of Queso with meat, and it was amazing! I ordered the Nueces, which is a crispy taco, a chicken fajita sour cream enchilada, and a cheese enchilada. Banditos is in a crowded shopping center where parking is difficult to find. Once you finally get into the restaurant you'll find that it's small and very cramped and crowded. It is LOUD in there. The chips and salsa were good. The queso, however, was not. It was a lot like the canned nacho cheese you get at a football game. I had the shrimp quesadillas and guacamole which were both good. Located at Snider Plaza, in between Kuby's Sausage House and Half Shells, there sits this very cozy and fun Tex-Mex restaurant that has an exceptionally long bar and TVs playing whatever game might happen to be on. The smell of Mexican beer and beef fajitas fills the air, while large families and SMU students are gathered around, providing plenty of carefree ambience. And while this place has always had a good vibe, it's also full of as much hole-in-the-wall charm as the Willie Nelson painting located near the back. As for the food, the Los Nachos Especiales have ten different options for maximal customization, and that alone has dethroned the King of Tex-Mex, Mi Cocina, in my honest opinion. However, even though nothing could replace Mambo Taxis from the aforementioned restaurant, the cervezas are served in gigantic goblets that could make any schmo feel like royalty. Overall, Bandito's has an indefinable warmth that most people look for in their neighborhood eateries, and combined with the incredible menu and accommodating hospitality, they are the all-around winner of Snider Plaza when it comes to casual dining. read more

From Chicago and I wasn't planning to review Bandito's since it was mostly unremarkable, but there was one thing worth writing about... We had chips and salsa to get warmed up and the chips were ok, nothing special. My son had the enchiladas and ate every last drop. My wife got the flautas and didn't love them. So, overall good, but nothing noteworthy. Then I tried the brisket tacos--wow! The meat is really, really good in Texas : ) I don't normally think Mexican food and good meat go together, but the brisket tacos were outstanding. Definitely worth a try. The staff was nice and the atmosphere was great but this was for sure the worst tex mex in Dallas Ive had. The quality of the food was just so poor.. it was essentially over priced bar food. The chips and salsa were pathetic. I ordered queso in hopes of having a better experience.. the queso was YELLOW ORANGE ?? like the kind you get with nachos or pretzels. Ive never not had white queso at a mexican restaurant. The food was edible but like i said its just crappy bar food. Everything seemed to be the cheapest option they could find and just warmed it up. This place is a little smaller so usually there is a wait. With it being small, it's super loud inside unless you sit at the back 3 tables past the kitchen. Mom and I were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon this little gem. We were both hungry, and I did a quick search on Yelp.... thanks to the recommendations, we tried this spot. We were not disappointed! The staff was friendly and the food was great! It's true TexMex and the even have the Bob Armstrong dip, but they call it fully loaded queso. You have to try it! We also tried the red river chicken enchiladas, chicken stuffed jalapeños and spinach with red river chicken quesadillas. The portions were generous, and everything was fresh and all tasty. Was in town for a conference and had an opportunity to visit a place I had come with SMU friends years ago. There are a couple of locations this one is near campus and has a good bar as well as decent seating. It's a small blueprint but it is a good place to eat when you are craving Tex-Mex. Their chips and salsa kills, queso is a nice addition (living in the Midwest top long) and their Fajitas, Enchiladas and Tacos all are delicious and hit the spot. I freaking love this place so much. I live in Grapevine and religiously make the drive to Bandito's at least twice a week because of the great food and friendly staff. Not once have I ever had a negative experience with service or food quality. I'll normally order their steak fajitas, and the portion is legit; enough for about 6 servings. (What's the proper term for the flour-tortilla-filled-goodness when eating fajitas? Are you making a burrito, or a taco? Serious question here, folks! But I digress). Even though this place gets busy, the staff are never absent. They never have a bad expression on their face, and they are quick to refill a drink, or get a side plate, etc. Bar staff are amazing and it is always great to see a familiar face when I come in. While this is an upscale neighborhood (to say the least), you will see folks of all ages and walks of life here. It's part of what makes Banditos a fun place. One quick shoutout - they have a hostess, Summer, who is quite possibly the friendliest person working there. Always has a smile on her face, and when she isn't seating people, she's helping run food, or anything else the restaurant needs. All while being cheerful to everyone. There need to be more people like her in the food/service industry. Thank you Banditos for becoming my "spot".
