Pains me to write this review, but it's been bugging me for some time now. I recently attempted to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but when the same customer service is repeated, it's a trend that has to be addressed. With that said here I go: Firstly, the pastries are great. They look great, they smell great and they taste great. These are not the problem. The customer service is my issue. If you order to go, the service seems to be good and quick, but if you're here to sit and eat... yeah that's another story... especially for me. I waited at the front of the store where is says to wait to be seated. After about 5 minutes, nothing. So I walked in and said I was looking to get a table, to which the person I asked just stared at me like I was speaking another language.... I don't have an accent or anything so I don't understand where the miscommunication was. So as that person just walked away, another person who I think was a busser finished cleaning a table said, "you can take this one." So we take it. Same busser goes back to continue his work and after he sees that no one is helping us he gives us menu's. "A server will be with you shortly". We check out the menu and we get our order ready. We notice other "Nado" guests get seated and given menu's expeditiously. We're still here waiting for our server who we still have not met. Now 4 more tables get seated and menu'd, and the others now have a server ask what they would like to order. We see 4 servers all walking passed us and just staring at us this whole time. I ask the counter person if our server was around, to which my question was glossed over and ignored although he did just stare directly at me acknowledging of my presence, yet, no response. So now I've been here 15 minutes and nothing. All the other tables seem to have gotten their orders in and are all smiles and conversations. Servers laughing with them, and just walking right by our table as if we were transparent. WTF? It's hard not to take this personal, but it seems that maybe I didn't have the "Nado" look like the rest of the other guests. I guess I have too much of a Chula Juana look that isn't very welcome at this part of town. If you're reading this and asking yourself if I'm saying what I think I'm saying... yes. That's what I'm saying. Could I be wrong? Completely. However, when this exact same scenario happens to me 2 times in a matter of a month, it's not an accident. The first time I just stayed in line for takeout and got a pastry and it was great, but that was after I had a seat, got ignored, and decided to give up my seat and just go. The second time, I just got up with my family and walked out. This place will not be getting my money anytime soon, if ever. read more

This is honestly one of my favorite places for breakfast or lunch. Plan to go several times because you'll want to eat it all. Their bakery case is bursting with delectable treats. And their home made meals are delicious. My favorite is their quiche or charcuterie. And we always top it off with a pastry and coffee. I can't wait to go back! read more

We had gotten some sweet treats here last time we were on the island, but this time we wanted to try some meals. They have a nice selection of choices. While we were perusing the menu, they brought out some crusty bread with butter. I went with the ham and cheese quiche with a salad. My friend chose the gnocchi with pomodoro sauce. Hers came out of the kitchen barely warmed, but they were happy to take it back and get it hot. She enjoyed hers. My quiche was creamy, light, and delicious, with a flaky crust. The Tartine is a quaint little European cafe off the beaten path, yet very close to The Landing. Perfect for Coronado weather, half their dining is inside and half is on their patio. This is a very dog friendly gathering spot - in fact, as we walked up, the first thing I noticed were wagging dog tails from under the outside patio tables. Unfortunately, true to some European serving standards, their service can be extremely slow. We stopped by to take a break from cruising the shops at The Landing. We started with coffee, the usual restaurant brew, and a Pot of Tea: pleasant surprise and a nice way to set the tone for this café. Hint: ask that your pastries be warmed before they are served. Heating pastries make them go from good to delicious! We had a slice of their Blueberry Lavender Loaf. This was moist and flavorful. The crumbles on top added a nice sweet crunch to the loaf. Of course, it didn't hurt to have a patty of real butter to go along (don't tell my Dr). The Lemon Poppy seed scone also was good. It was moist, not too dry and crumbly variety. It held together as it was eaten. It was rich with a touch of sweetness from the sugar sprinkled on top. It's easy to see way this is a local's hangout, where friends are meeting with friends. We were denied service despite there being plenty of room to sit us down. The manager, Sergio did not make any effort to serve us, saying he was understaffed and could not take a large party. We could have been patient if he explained the food might take longer to prepare, but he simply said we could not be served. He also said to go ahead and leave him a bad review if we wanted to. Sergio really needs to work on his customer service. He left 15 Latin women truly unhappy this morning with his unfriendly attitude. read more

I think I found my to go place for pastries, I've been to many bakeries and they were all good, but I think this place is where I will buy my Desserts from now on, it's called "TARTINE". The Prosciutto panino I'm not impress about it , the Panino needs more condiments , it taste plain to me . BUT I LOVE the PASTRIES here, it's RICH in FLAVOR, but yet not too sweet at all, just PERFECT! Monday is never my good Day, I always feel Lazy on Mondays. Yesterday I had to get up and drive to Hotel Del Coronado to assist our visitor from out of town. After we assisted them to make their vacation here better , I told my husband that I wanted something with Caffeine or Sugar so that I could continue the rest of the day or else I would end up sleepy ;) . So we drove around and we found this Bakery, so we decided to try it. We are glad we did 'coz this place has a AMAZING DESSERTS and our SERVER ISSAC F , was the BEST ! I don't enjoy writing reviews like this, but I felt compelled to do so following my most recent visit. I have patronized this establishment several times, and the food has always been perfectly fine, so this is not about the quality of their product During my most recent visit, I waited at the host desk to be seated. I was told by, I am assuming one of the busing staff, to grab a seat anywhere I liked. So I did. A young waitress came out to give me a menu, and asked me if I had seated myself. Confused as to her question, I said "yes" With a scowl and a condescending tone, she says to me "we need to wait to be seated next time" Scolding me in front of other guests. It was at that point I informed her one of her staff said I could sit down, and rather than apologize, simply said "oh, he didn't tell me" I then informed her I would not be eating at the establishment, and rather than apologize or try to make the situation better, she simply said "OK" with a juvenile tone and condescension in her voice. This is horrific customer service!! I have always enjoyed this establishment, but do not believe I will go again. I have been working on Coronado Island for 27 years, and it's a shame that poor customer service has led to this decision. read more

The appetizer was the best dish in my opinion. We ordered the Baked Burrata which was creamy and tart on beautifully toasted crostini. I ordered the Risotto special and was hugely disappointed. It lacked salt and was way to lemony, tart. It seemed that the lemon was not distributed evenly, but even after mixing it, it was not any better. The steak was a huge hit with the guys and my friend seemed to enjoy her beet salad. Service was lacking. We had to call the server over a few times, she did not seem to be aware that we needed something or even check up to see if our food was good. A very cute and quaint dessert shop that also serves brunch, lunch and dinner. Located right across the street from the entrance to Centennial Park on Coronado Island, parking can be hard to come by as there are meters everywhere. Thankfully on Sundays, you don't have to feed the meters. If you drive around you'll find a spot eventually. Went in to grab a sweet treat for my daughter and myself. Impressed with the quality of their desserts. Nicely presented in the glass case, and they had breads and other pastries under glass domes on the counter and on top of the dessert case. We chose the chocolate mousse and the pear cheesecake. They were both sinfully delicious! I like that they were individually portioned, but didn't want to think about how many calories I had in that cheesecake!! Lol At $9 a pop, they were priced accordingly as they are more of an upscale dessert shop. This definitely isn't Albertson's or Vons. The pear cheesecake was especially worth the price, I've not had it anywhere else and it was so scrumptious! I'm a sucker for cheesecake and I love pears so there ya go. Staff was nice and helpful. The lady packaged each item individually and placed them in a bag with forks and napkins. They have a bunch of seating outside for patio dining. Cute little cafe near Peohe's and the Ferry Landing. It was immaculately clean and they had socially distanced seating. Super friendly staff. It was the impressive display of baked goods that lured us in. They have a case full of confectionery delights guaranteed to ruin any diet. I couldn't resist. We left with a Peach Streusel Coffee Cake and a Bacon Gruyere Scone. The scone was perfection; savory, not too heavy and relatively airy a for a scone (in a good way). The cake had a subtle peach pop to it and was nice and dense. If I'm being honest, the cake could've been just a touch more moist to counteract the density but it wasn't a big deal. When in the hood, swing by to destroy your diet - that's a problem to deal with on Monday. read more

Have been coming here with my family on and off for many, many years. The quiche is still good (though long ago it used to be even better, fluffier and tastier), but their servings have become so small and skimpy--meanwhile their prices keep going up. Worse the salad is literally just lettuce from a bag, not dressed up with toppings or anything. The topper is the service or lack thereof. Our server never checked on us and another server (tall, attentive fellow) had to pick up the slack. All the servers are just lacking, sometimes rude, and just really disappointing except the one mentioned who should probably move on to better management and I imagine better pay elsewhere. This place is so good! It's a cute restaurant near the ferry village that has both outdoor seating and indoor. They have a lot of great tartine or what the French call sandwich options. We had the tuna sandwich and I think it's the freshest, tastiest tuna sandwich I ever had! It was soooo good. The baguette was still warm and soft and tuna was so fresh, and it wasn't drenched in mayo (which is typical with tuna). We also had the chocolate bread pudding which was amazing, moist and tasty. WOW!!!! I am delightfully PLEASED with this exceptional freshly made beef stroganoff here at Tartine in Coronado !!! The mushrooms were perfectly cooked and so was the sirloin steak ! So tender it melted in my mouth !!! And the sautéed onions ! Also the egg noodles were super perfect too ! This was super tasty and satisfying wow!! Excellent quiche and the flakey melt in your mouth crust. The ham bits nice flavor the cheese ratio just perfect! If the coffee was better I'd give 5 stars. It's slightly weaker then a good dark French roast. Would be nice to have cream I asked for but tasted more like milk. I used to reside at the Coronado Shores way back when and I kind of miss this place now. Coronado seems to get better with age. Tartine is a nice place to have a lighter breakfast first thing in the morning. I had an oatmeal with dried cranberries, brown sugar, and milk. It was hearty. I also ordered toasted Epi bread which came with a raspberry jam. I ordered a Pavlova because it looked pretty in the bakery case. The Pavlova meringue shell was very sweet but the fruit and whipped cream balanced out the flavors. read more

The cutest little European cafe on Coronado island! Love the selection of paninis, soups, salads, and sandwiches. What caught my eye even more was the selection of cakes and pastries! I wanted ALL OF THEM. The quiche and panini tasted delicious as expected. The side greens were refreshing and much needed, but (not pictured) the side fruit was so insanely sweet and fresh! My favorite part was the coconut cheesecake. If you're a fan of cheesecake and coconut, this is THE cake you have to try. It paired so perfectly well with my cup of coffee. This is a recommendation for Tartine's dessert counter, I didn't get to try their lunch or dinner menu. The restaurant is very inviting and the outdoor tables were full when we walked by. You can walk in one side to go to the bakery counter-great selection of beautiful desserts! Any of them would be perfect for any special occasion and of course to "treat yo' self" too! We chose the pralines & caramel cheesecake and a chocolate truffle cake. Both fit in a small box but were packaged securely so they looked just as perfect when we finely opened and served them after a late dinner. Plenty of dessert for 4 people. Why one star? Horrible customer service from a very rude employee; I wonder if the owner of this business condones such behavior. It was a group of 4; we came inside at around 3:30pm, a totally non-busy time. I think only 1 couple was sitting outside but inside the fence. We ended up buying two desserts and three coffees. We were about to sit outside (didn't see the handwritten sign, among the many signs plastered on the glass by the door) when this employee rushed out and in a very rude, authoritative voice told us that "outside sitting is not permitted for carry out orders"...what the heck!?!?! First of all, we never new and couldn't there be a better and more polite way of expressing that? It was such a turn off! So, we were going to sit on one of the two tables by the curb (on the sidewalk) and she said "the only table you can use is the one by the side, outside the fenced area... so, what made THAT table a more suitable one vs those by the curb??? Clearly, she was very upset we didn't sit to order and/or was having a rough day. We all do but we don't react in such a horrible and insulting manner. I am not going to even rate the desserts since it doesn't really matter, I will never go back to Tartine (by the way, is Chad Robertson from San Francisco and owner of the famous Tartine Bakery) aware that some other business is using his business' name? Delicious cakes! We ordered chocolate truffle and white chocolate Bavarian pistachio. They made a mistake and gave us white chocolate pistachio cheesecake. BEST mistake, ever! All the cakes were amazing, but I have to say, pistachio cheesecake for the win! All cakes were $9 so the price is steep, but worth it. Great food & service in Coronado on a beautiful Saturday morning - you cannot ask for more! It's a five minute walk from the ferry landing, or a one minute bike ride. Tartine is a quaint restaurant in Coronado with great food, an excellent pick for brunch during our visit. I highly recommend this place, I would definitely go again! They have great breakfast & lunch items on their menu. I ordered the Croque Monsieur Sandwich with ham, gruyere cheese and dijon mustard on sliced French sandwich bread - so good!! And my husband got the Ham and Brie Tartine Sandwich on French Bread. Both came with a generous portion of mixed greens. We also enjoyed the fully-shaded, outdoor dining option. And we took advantage of the bike racks out front. Coffee was just average. But the service was exceptional.
