    oat shaken espresso

calm and relaxing cafe with kyrgyzstan drinks and food! we didn't really enjoy their irimshik latte (too milky) but loved their oat shaken espresso. I also heard great things about their pastries. we got the their breakfast and thought the bread to egg ratio was too little

Qattama, pot of Tary Tea, Cauliflower and Broccoli Cream Soup... it was a great meal...

One of my favorite places to come to.... If you haven't been here you should come... from just a pastry and a snack to a nice breakfast , brunch, lunch and dinner... the drinks are amazing... I tried the seasonal pear citrus matcha( very refreshing). To the grape cold brew... and grape is one of my favorite flavors.. both drinks was very well balance...

Tary Coffee is a Kazakhstan coffee shop. Immediately when walking in you're greeted by a calm instrumental and beautiful interior with decor reflecting Kazakh culture. The cashier taking our order is from Kazakhstan and was able to give us a lot of insights on the menu and culture. They had a mix of traditional American breakfast items as well as Kazakh food. We opted for the salmon Benedict and the cottage cheese pancakes. The benedict was good and everything tasted the fresh. The cottage cheese pancakes were a unique flavor (almost tangy) and not very sweet. The coffee was very good and it came with wafers which were good. All in all I would recommend this place!

The vibes were cool and super casual. It's a relaxed spot with a unique menu you don't see at most cafes. The Tary sweets were really hit or miss. Some of them were actually great, while others just weren't for me. The latte used a dark roast that was too bitter for my taste. They add sweet cheese on top which helped a little, but overall I still didn't love the drink. The chicken noodle soup came with a pastry on top which was a cool touch, but the soup itself was pretty bland.

Very nice cafe. Food is delicious! I've been here twice during one trip! Cottage cheese pancakes are delicious! I also had mushroom soup which was very good too. Everything is so fresh! Will definitely come here again with my family.

we tried the blueberry matcha. their matcha tastes high quality and they say it's ceremonial grade which i believe. i think some places say theirs is ceremonial grade when it isn't. so we really enjoyed the quality of the matcha and it was the perfect amount of sweet from the blueberry. we also tried baursaq which is the fried dough bites. it tastes like a light donut ball. it's not heavy or greasy at all. they give you a dipping sauce which tasted like strawberry to me. overall a really clean and simple lay out for the shop. very minimal and upscale. it's not super busy and loud so it's a nice place to sit in and enjoy your drinks and maybe do some homework/remote work. i only gave it 4/5 just because the drinks were a little pricey but i think that's the norm now as well. hard to find drinks under 8$ these days.

Like many New York foodies, I've spent my fair share of time exploring the varied Central Asian cuisines on offer across South Brooklyn. But it took a visit to Chicago for me to have my first proper interaction with Kazakh cooking. At this beautiful space in River North, Tary is serving up a narrow, daytime-oriented menu of otherwise hard-to-find Kazakh items. During my early morning visit, I sampled the cottage cheese pancakes, which seemed to be a regional take on syrniki. The texture was almost like blintzes, with a discernible filling of cottage cheese encased by crepe, offered with clotted cream on the side. Note that service is a bit leisurely, so make sure you allot a bit more time than I did if you want to get the most out of your visit.

Tary was such a cute find. I've never had Kazakh cuisine so this was a great introduction. The crepes were delicious and the matcha was pretty decent. The pear cloud matcha tasted more like pear juice than matcha though but it was still great. The servers work pretty quickly. Tary gets busy really quick especially when people use the space as to work or take meetings- that's not ideal sometimes.

TARY was a really unique coffee shop experience. The only US location, this cafe lets you try favorites from Kazakhstan and a subtly stunning visual design. To start, I got their signature Latte Irimshik. The base latte was a standard latte that came with a speciality dairy cheese you can eat by itself or sprinkle into the latte. It is definitely worth trying. I enjoyed it best with the Irimshik sprinkled adding a subtle sweetness. As a sweet treat, I ordered the cottage cheese pancakes. They were dense and delicious with a decadent sauce. These are definitely an indulgence! I also had the cottage cheese pancakes. We left later in the day than I was expecting, so I was already starving and decided to order a burger. It was the best thing I ordered. I'm so glad I was hungry enough to try it. It has very flavorful sauce, is well cooked and has a kick with pickled jalapeños. I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but it was pricer than I expected and for the quantity. I recommend trying it out!

    Cinnamon Roll

Decided to give this place a second chance, and it was great. For coffee, I had the basic mocha latte. The mocha flavor wasn't very strong, but the coffee overall was great, nice foam and mildly sweet. The food was a game changer this time. Cinnamon roll was great. A perfect balance of cinnamon flavor and not overly sweet. The irimshik on top was a great addition, it was so smooth, creamy, and delicious, on the sweeter side. Cottage cheese pancakes were so good. They were a little crispy and stuffed with cottage cheese, and the sweet irimshik dip served as the perfect creamy layer. Qattama was average. It was crispy, alright, but overall felt okayish. The irimshik that came with it was a little sour, which didn't go well with the pastry. Nan salma, a pasta dish, was the highlight! It is made with tary, which is a type of grain. It was a white sauce pasta and tasted so delicious. The flavor of tary was strong, which made it even better. Add a little salt and pepper, and you have the perfect pasta! The service is a bit slow, but the ambiance is cozy

Stumbled upon this lovely coffee, tea, pastry shop. TARY is such a delight. They specialize in Kazakh coffee, tea and food. The inside is well decorated, spacious and was packed. I ordered the Kazakh tea which the hostess says comes with millet - I was wary because i usually don't enjoy nutty beverages but this was so good. Not overly sweet. Definitely a must check out when in the city.

Adorable cafe & the inside is one of the best ones I've been to recently. Matcha latte was delicious and the service is very friendly too. Only issue was it took 20 minutes for my latte to be ready. I went around 8:45am on a Saturday morning when it wasn't too busy, but didn't mind. If you're in a pinch I'd keep that in mind! Will definitely be back to try their pancakes and other food!

I love this coffee spot!! I've been a few times with friends and family and it's always so good!! Last time I went I tried the decaf Tary cappuccino. I really enjoyed the Tary addition to the coffee and thought that it added a nice nutty flavor. My mom and I also split the crepes which were delicious. I'm not normally a huge sweets person for breakfast, but I really enjoyed them. I will definitely be back and will be bringing more people!

I was honestly too hungry to spend much time deciding, so I just ordered one of the sourdough donut ball. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. It had a light crispness on the outside, then a warm, pillowy center that practically melted away with each bite. I finished it way faster than I expected. The only thing I forgot was ordering something to drink with it. Looking back, a good coffee would've made it even better. Still, I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

Our family and extended family often ordered birthday cakes from them, and their mango cake was our favorite. When mangoes were in season, they used plenty of fresh mango in the cakes. Their cakes are always fresh, light, fluffy, and not too sweet. My daughter and I also love their individual cakes, especially the Black Pearl and Walnut Cake. Their pineapple buns and egg tarts are her favorites as well. Saint Anna has also been part of our daughter's childhood. When she was little, my husband used to bring her here before or after Chinese school in Chinatown on Sundays. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha! Saint Anna is a family-run business, and Sara and Irene, the daughters-in-law, used to take care of the front of house. They were always so friendly and accommodating. After a 6-year hiatus, we finally returned one Friday recently when we happened to be in the area with a friend. Sara is now a co-owner, and it was wonderful to see her again. She immediately recognized us and was so warm and welcoming. She even asked me to relay her greetings to my sisters when she greeted us and again when we were leaving. Those little gestures made our return feel especially meaningful. We were still full from a big dim sum lunch, so my daughter picked up 2 Mini Pineapple Buns and 2 Paper-Wrapped Sponge Cakes, while I got a Red Bean Roll. Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.
