Loved the space and airiness. The tables weren't cramped and there was a nice bar area in the front and dining area in the back. I believe there's also a party room downstairs. The service was impeccable. There were water fillers and busboys who kept an eagle eye on everything to make sure water was always full and tables were cleared right away and wiped down after each course. The waiter seamlessly rattled off the half dozen specials with all the special sauces and sides they come with. We didn't understand some of the ingredients but they all sounded good. We ordered 3 items off the special menu and got the beets salad from the regular menu. The food plating is beautiful and instagram ready. The vibrant colors of different sauces pop like a painting. The food was all tasty but we found little issues with the dishes. The chopped beets in the beet salad was too cold like it's been sitting in the fridge for hours before serving and there was about a teaspoon of goat cheese that we discovered half way into eating it. The halibut was a little dry and the dish had mushrooms that were cold while other elements were warm. Maybe some like the variation of temp in a dish but we weren't a fan of it. Although everything was decent and the atmosphere was nice, it still makes us miss Aquagrill in SoHo (may it RIP). The seafood is ok but missing some finesse and the price for what you get was off putting. We'd be glad to pay to pay $45 for a thinner tail end of a halibut if it wowed us but it fell short. Overall a good dining experience but still searching for a great seafood restaurant that would rival Aquagrill. read more

Came across the restaurant while looking for a place to have a nice dinner after a long week. Casually strolled in and ended up sitting by the ledge next to the door facing the street, they were probably the best seats in the house. Interior is very chill and hip, which enticed us the most. Ordered a bunch of appetizers, drinks, and a few main courses to share and everything was superb. Overall enjoyed the entire experience. Waiters were very attentive, the bathrooms were super clean, the food was delicious and the lounge music playing in the background was great. The only part that can be improved would be the food coming out earlier - took over an hour between appetizers and main course to be served - maybe kitchen was overwhelmed I have no idea. Otherwise it was a lovely find and would definitely go back. Highly recommend to decompress on any night of the week, more so on a Friday. read more

My husband and I I went to eat at Tasca as we done many times before on November 3. When it came to order As we had done before we wanted to substitute the Yuca for tostones. Our waiter Rodrigo told that it could not be done. We explained that we have been there many times and not once they have stated " There are no substitutions" I mentioned a specific waitress and they (Rodrigo and the owner) threw her under the bus! Rodrigo said he was not as friendly as the female waitress. He continued to argue with us!! We decided not to stay for diner. The owner tried to convinced me that that is the policy of the restaurant. and defended Rodrigo. Not true! We have several men waiters that have complied with our substitutions without any hesitation.The owner insisted that the female waitress was told many times that there no substitutions. He wanted me to give him the name of a male server.(I guess he did not believe me) we would never asked for substitutions if they were accepted many times before. Even though the owner apologized, I did not feel it was a very sincere apology. There are hundreds of restaurants in NYC that treat customers with appreciation and respect! Came here with a friend after visiting Guggenheim museum which was a quick walk directly through Central Park. My friend and I got the bottomless sangria option - she got the red and I got white. Both were great, not terribly strong, but flavor was good and after a few rounds the drinks definitely start the hit. The food itself was pretty standard and tasted good. The pricing was 25 for and appetizer and entree + 15 for the bottomless, I would say it's a pretty good deal. Great spot in UWS! read more

Walking Columbus Ave we found this spot to have a great vibe and really nicely decorated. We ordered some really great wine and a light dinner. I thought the prices were a little high and the portions where on the smaller side but the place over all was really lovely. The food was nice but again we weren't terribly hungry. If you are I'm not sure the portions will fill you up but that is more of a personal preference. The flavors of our food weren't overdone and I do think the balance of the plate was spot on. I need to change my rating for this place after coming for brunch. Our lentil soup was WAY too salty. It could have been good with the right amount of salt but this was way too much. On top of that there is pork in the soup even though it doesn't say it on the menu. My fiancée doesn't eat pork and found out by eating it... How can the restaurant not mention that on the menu? Also more generally the problem with this place is that they add pork in almost every single dish. So here you go thinking you're ordering a vegetarian or vegan item but then you end up with pork. Or maybe you just want seafood but boom here is some pork again. Like no wonder the place is almost empty for a sunday brunch when all the other restaurants are packed. Then in general the menu items are way too protein heavy. My fiancee got the crabmeat which was described as served with plantain and a bit of egg on top. She basically was served massive omelet where the crabmeat or the plantain were basically nowhere to be found. She couldn't finish because there was so much egg. And unfortunately almost all their menu items are very heavy on protein. Very little amounts of vegetables. It's too bad because the food does taste good and is pretty good quality. Tried this restaurant for the first time for my friend's birthday! Beautiful decor, friendly and attentive staffs. Very clean place and clean bathroom. I think this might now be the best restaurant in the upper west side and even one of my favorite spots in the city. Atmosphere is 5 stars and the food is even better. Every single bite of everything we ordered was heaven. I started with the Green Smoke cocktail which is amazing, super refreshing and surprising. For starters, I have to recommend the Setas y Gambas. We're not even huge fans of shrimp and we loved it! We also ordered the empanadas trio which is a must and the scallops. For mains, we ordered the fish special of the day, the cod, and the flank steak. Every single bite was so good. I think this restaurant is still somewhat of a secret since it opened during COVID, but I can not recommend it more highly! read more

Finally tried Tasca and wow am I happy we did. We came with the intention of ordering off of the Restaurant Week menu but the full menu was too good to pass up. The service was phenomenal, and we sat in a cozy corner table so we could take in the beautiful ambiance. We ordered the two mezcal cocktails which were so fresh and flavorful, split the gambas and setas (WOW probably my favorite part of the meal, the sauce was to die for), the halibut special, the fillet, and a chocolate bomb for dessert. Tasca is such a lovely addition to the neighborhood. Serving up Spanish / Mediterranean fare, it's hard to find a bad dish. Start with the mussels with chorizo and ask for a spoon and extra bread, because you're going to want all the broth. If you have the time and appetite, get the paella. The socarrat is exactly what you're hoping for. The churrasco with yuca fries or lomo de cerdo are great alternatives. You might as well get a side of yuca fries for the table. Now, the (outdoor) service has been spotty, but the food alone makes this a good choice. read more

Avoid this place. It s a rip off, and generally for people who don't have any clue of Spanish food. We ordered pata negra ham - which I had the pleasure of discovering in SPAIN, and have eaten it enough times in my life to realize when I am being fraudulently served something that has NOTHING to do with it. The funniest part, when my friend complained and asked to see the package in which they were supposedly keeping the ham, not only did it not show "pata negra" - which by the way is a protected indication of origin, whom are you trying to fool...- but it was STINKING like hell... unbelievable! We made reservations for Friday night for restaurant week. The place itself looks new and has tasteful decor, we were seated right away. We started with the seta y gambas, and seafood croquettes. The seta and gambas was good but it had a very artificial taste almost like gravy and the bread wasn't fresh. My husband liked the croquettes but they had an add overwhelming fishy metallic taste to them. We moved on to our entrees. We both got the churrasco as it sounded great on the menu, it was served with fried yucca. We asked for medium, it was way over cooked, definitely well done. The steak seasoning was good but texture was awful. It was tough and chewy, difficult to swallow. Yucca was dry and hard. We moved on to dessert. We got the cheesecake and flan. Both were very good in flavor just had too much going on. The cheesecake was served with guava ice cream which did add a nice touch but the flan had at least 4+ garnishes and ingredients that it did not need. Good flan can shine on it's own and does not need all the extraness. Service was a little slow and our server had somewhat of an attitude. He rolled his eyes after we said we'd be ordering from the restaurant week menu. Overall I was looking forward to trying this place and am glad we did but I don't recommend it and would probably not go back. read more

Fantastic establishment My party of 5 made same day brunch reservations without much expectations for this place. We were blown away! We started off with the croquetas de calamar and albondigas for apps, followed by the steak and eggs, setas y gambas (organic wild mushrooms with shrimp) and huevos gitanos as entrees, and ending with dessert (don't quite remember). Every dish was cooked excellently, tasted fantastic, and the service on top was exceptional. Highly recommend! Oh, and can't beat bottomless mimosas or sangrias for brunch! read more

I thought Tasca was a good restaurant. It's their first weekend being open. I tried to be as objective as possible and I just want to say thank you to the staff--you were great! Service - 5 stars - all of the staff was impeccably kind and friendly, super professional. I liked the chill personality of our waiter. The people of this restaurant will take them far! Drinks - 4.5 stars - Pricey cocktails but pretty tasty. I had a cucumber based mezcal drink which was good. I think that if they expand their cocktail game, I would come back just for the cocktails and vibe. Appetizers - 2 stars - so this experience dampened the rest of my experience. I ordered the shrimp and mushrooms appetizer (on recommendation of the waiter) expecting at least 2 or 3 shrimp, especially for whatever ridiculous price we paid ($17? I can't remember). It came with exactly 3...fragments of what amounted up to be a single shrimp. I'm sorry, but that is just depressing and stingy. Oh and it didn't come with bread--after the staff set it down and he could probably see my underwhelming desire and confusion as to what I eat the stewy app with, he then asked as he stepped away, "oh, would you maybe want some bread with that?" Not his fault, in fact, again, 5 stars to the staff and service bc he immediately saw my disappointment and brought out supplemental (but in my mind, should be fundamental) reinforcements. I really don't mind paying, as long as it's worthwhile. I dined at Daniel during the pandemic--while their service left something to be desired, I did leave feeling gastronomically fulfilled bc I had the expectation that I would be given something delicious to eat in exchange for the $$$ I was spending. And frankly, the appetizers at Tasca weren't much cheaper than Daniel, but the presentation and clumsiness of this particular dish dampened the rest of my experience. I would have given this 1 star, but added another star bc it was at least edible; it just completely lacked substance. It wasn't even worth a picture bc there was nothing to photograph. Entree - 4.5 stars. My husband really loved his pork and beans dish. I had a bite and thought it was flavorful. My dish wasn't bad. I don't understand the separation of the rice and the seafood since it's not like I had another plate to eat off of. And my seafood was luke warm, like it may have been sitting around for a while. It was well cooked through. Frankly my husband and I were surprised that we received entrees that substantial after the appetizer experience. I know I spent a lot of energy on that appetizer above but is is the point--appetizers are meant to wet your appetite so you can then be excited for the rest of your meal. I was not excited. I also tried to give feedback to the waiter in a light, poking fun kinda way but nope. It didn't go anywhere. With a 10pm curfew plus a zoom show I needed to join, I asked for dessert to go. Dessert was a 5 out 5. Tres leches was good. I thought it was better than my entree. Not the most delicious tres leches I've ever had but pretty darn good and a welcome option on the uws! Overall, I think a 4 star rating is pretty acceptable considering my mood for 3/4 of the experience was shadowed by my depressing appetizer experience. I'll given the restaurant another try down the line, hopefully once they've settled in a bit and maybe see the light. Listen, good restaurants in NYC: blow my mind and tastebuds and I will give you all of my money! I want this restaurant and others to succeed. We left with so many staff thanking us for visiting. The staff really are the reason I gave this experience the higher rating. Honestly, the staff can make or break any restaurant, regardless of how spectacular your food is. I dine out EVERY night, live on the upper east side and non confrontational , this was a first and my LAST time i will dine here. I recently celebrated a friends birthday here. The ambiance was very nice. One thing that I enjoy is aesthetically pleasing businesses. The service was amazing, our server was always on top of drinks or refilling our waters, they came to check on us often to make sure our experience was pleasurable. The reason for my 4 star rating is the food was not as amazing as it was presented. The presentation was definitely on point. A few of us ordered several of the dinner specials. My biggest issue was there wasn't a variety in the food selection. If I could expand on anything, it would be to add more green veggies to the menu. The flavors were good. When I received an email stating the former owners of Don Pedro's had a new restaurant, I made as reservation with unabashed glee. Don Pedro's was by far one of my favorite restaurants on the UES and when they closed, a part of my Caribbean Fusion gastronomic soul died. Here was a chance to once again experience those bold, deep, highly seasoned flavors once more, or so I thought. Tasca is brand new and it shows. The decor is nuveau elegant with simple and clean lines while still infusing deep colors that bring warmth. The downstairs is equally charming with a private room and all over it is spotless. We were greeted very warmly and seated promptly. Their social distancing is one of the best I've seen so far, both in physical set up and the use of electronic tools to promote a "no touch" environment. The service was immaculate; prompt, professional, timely, purposeful and attentive. The food is where I was left disappointed. All dishes were plated, presented and cooked to artful perfection, yet the flavors were not there. The seafood sancocho was a lovely dish but the broth was lacking the depth to wake up the seafood. Citrus, spice, salt, acid all the things that arouse sleeping flavors in a seafood dish were missing. Scallops, again lovely and cooked to perfection, yet bland! Churrasco, an artistic triumph cooked exactly to order, yet insipid and screaming for the attention of a good seasoning. There was a flavorful sauce on the meat, yet it did not do the justice a good spice rub would. Snapper with Mofongo, it was OK. In short, the expectations I had for the food were inadequately met. Perhaps it's unfair to compare restaurants, but when you bill a restaurant with the credentials and pedigree of a former palace of flavor like Don Pedro's, you better deliver. I crossed the park based on that reputation! Listen, in many ways Tasca is superior, especially when it comes to service, and these people know how to cook, but I'd like to see them really dial in those flavors. Culantro, cilantro, cimuno, carajo! Get back to the roots of the recipies and Tasca might be a winner. Time will tell. read more

CHICHARRON DE POLLO was tasty but a little too crispy because it was hard to cut. CALAMAR was the best thing we had. A must try. It tastes fresh and was tender. What a pleasant surprise! Great Spanish food on the UWS . Casually elegant, great service. Appetizers of flatbread with Kale and cranberries and octopus in particular were delicious. Empanadas first class. Very well prepared seafood and fish dishes. Too full to try the tres leches or bread pudding but next time.
