    Wailer Cocktail

Upper West Side has been yearning for a place like this! To see Caribbean culture being highlighted in this part of Manhattan is an amazing win. The whole vibe reminds me of a beachfront restaurant on the islands. They had an amazing playlist as well. They have a ton of shareable dishes. The beef patties is stuffed to the brim, the meatiest patty I ever had, great sauce to match. The Trinidadian Doubles Shell is a playful take on doubles, it was incredibly seasoned. The Five Spice Lo Mein was delicious, it was favorite bite of the evening. I will be back for their Jerk Chicken. The Wailer was like a Negroni with warm spices - pleasant delight and paired well with a the dishes. Here is my only issue, the wait to put in my order was veryyyy long. True to the Caribbean stereotype. I am going to give them deference because it was a busy Saturday and they are getting established.

I wanted something unique for Mother's Day so I chose this local spot I hadn't been to before. The food was excellent. Stand outs were the lychee cocktail I had, the shrimp and grits, and the double shells. We ordered so much food I got to take a bunch home. We sat outside in the beautiful weather. Georgia was caring and attentive. Would absolutely come back again! Plus I was able to reserve on rest & pay on In kind!

My wife and I were excited to try this new restaurant in the neighborhood and it did not disappoint! The jerk chicken was perfectly cooked and had the perfect amount of smokiness and spice. Service was good and our waitress gave great recommendations on menu items. The drinks were amazingly priced and were great and the ambiance was on point, we'll definitely be back to try more food from the menu.

Warm Caribbean vibe on a chill afternoon with Caribbean dishes like bake and shark, and sorrel margaritas to name a few. Reggae music in the background makes you feel like you're on an island of one of the Caribbean islands.

The service was really nice and the space is comfortable. I enjoyed my corn soup even though it was on the sweet side. I liked the shrimp and grits and the goat patty was delicious. I really did not enjoy our cocktails, the Rodney Bay Sunset. It was very bitter and the syrup that is added did not mix well with it. It was extremely hard to finish and did not sit well.

There were only 2 other parties seated and we were seated immediately upon arrival. It's fairly dark inside and the decor reminds me a bit of New Orleans. I enjoyed the ambiance. The drinks were great! I had the cocobella while he had margaritas. The table bread was hot and fresh, so make sure they bring it to the table for you. We had the mussels for an appetizer, lamb chops and bass. EVERYTHING was excellent! The flavor of the broth for the mussels was Devine, so much so my husband used his bread to sop up all he could. The bass had great flavor and came with sautéed spinach that was well cooked. It initially looked like a small portion but turned out to be plenty. The lamb chops were cooked to the requested temp and seasoned well. We left no crumbs. This one is definitely worth a try!

Walked into Margon Restaurant in Midtown and instantly felt like I found one of NYC's secret cheat codes. Small space, big flavors, zero nonsense. The kind of place where you're elbow-to-elbow with strangers but everyone's united by one thing... serious hunger. Ordered the Cuban sandwich -- pressed, crispy, loaded with roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. One bite in and I stopped talking... which never happens. This thing didn't just deliver... it showed up early and over-prepared. Then came La Bandera Dominicana Braised beef swimming in savory gravy, yellow rice piled like a mountain, black beans doing their thing, and sweet maduros sitting on top like the victory flag. Simple. Comforting. Dangerous... because now I want it every week. Place gets busy, gets loud, gets chaotic... but it moves like a well-oiled machine. Years of experience and zero attitude. Just good people making great food. In a neighborhood full of tourist traps, this hole-in-the-wall is throwing haymakers. Sometimes the best escape in NYC isn't a rooftop... It's a Cuban sandwich and a plastic tray. And honestly... I'd pick that every time. #nycfood #hiddennyc #midtowneats

There were lots of choices available - we chose the fried chicken chunks and the Cuban sandwich. All were very tasty - would have been awesome if the chicken pieces were boneless but it was still good regardless. We were able to sit down and ate the food there to keep it nice and fresh.
