We were at my mother's house in Brookline with a group of family members on a Saturday evening and after we toiled about dining in the group unanimously voted to go out. The challenge we had was that we had a group of 9. It was going to be hard to get a reservation. I was not familiar with the restaurant scene in Brookline so I spun the wheel and called 6 places and only on was happy to accommodate us -Tasca. When we got there the place was very busy - I was surprised they could take us. I love a restaurant with energy and this one had it going on! We were seated immediately upon arrival. The table we had was a little cramped, but it didn't matter/ I was loving the buzz of the place! We waited a tiny bit and were greeted by the server - she definitely mirrored the pace of the restaurant- she was a beautiful, bubbly young woman with a wonderful personally! We dug right into the menu. For drinks we all started with margaritas- they were a little strong but that's what made them great - it was made with fresh lime and was very refreshing - a great was to begin. Right behind it we ordered the garnacha sangria - I worry about low quality wine in sangrias, but it was super flavorful- if you get red sangria I recommend it over the house one. With a panty of nine it's easy to order too much food because everything is shareable- sooooooo we ordered just about every small plate on the menu and it was totally ok because the portion size was perfect! I couldn't find a dish that was not short of excellent, so this is a hard review to write. Some stand-out items for me was the spinach- it was sautéd perfectly and had just the right amount of garlic - I could have eaten that for my dinner! I also loved the octopus- a beautiful preparation- the tentacles were very meaty and the sauce was really flavorful! We also ordered both types of calamari- sautéed and fried. I'm a big fan and both were very good. Another was the empanadas - the shell was cooked perfectly so it was not dried out. I had 2 teens with me and was worried the food may be too sophisticated for them, but they found their way to the grilled steak- a perfect dish for them - both got the sauce on the side in case they didn't like it - but ended up pouring it right back on. Definitely a great choice for teens. The dessert list has something for everyone- we got the bread pudding- Spanish crème brûlée and the churros. These are all "must tries". I fell in love with the churros- perfectly crisped and plenty of sugar and super yummy chocolate - uhhhhhh... so good! I wanted to take more pictures of the plates but they were consumed so quickly that I didn't have a chance. It's definitely a loud place but that's part of the energy of the establishment. If you like tapas- this is for you - truly something for all on the menu. I'll be back as it was a great experience- I would highly recommend this restaurant!! Cheers to a great first experience!!!

Tasca has a lovely cozy vibe and the tapas-style menu is great for sharing. They have good selection of vegetarian options -- some were really tasty like the fried eggplant, mushroom croquettes, and veg empanadas. A few others felt a bit too basic, not something I'd usually order at a restaurant. The cheese plate was just okay, and I wish they were a bit more creative with the vegetarian dishes. My husband loved his lamb meatballs, and the fried calamari was also really good. Churros and chocolate pudding were both just okay. Service was excellent though -- super friendly and attentive staff, which made the overall experience better.

My parents used to come here all the time in the 90's and early 2000's. We came back for my dad's birthday recently, and although the menu changed with new ownership, we were delighted to find that the quality and deliciousness of their tapas hadn't changed at all!! The menu is well organized, and also has QR codes you can scan to see how big each tapa is. Our waitress recommended about 2-3 tapas per person, so that was what we did. We got a few rounds, trying new things and re-ordering our favorites. It's a good place to go with a group; ours had 4 people. We started off with crab croquettes, served with a spicy mayo. They were delicious, like soft Spanish crab cakes. Also in the first round we got the beef empanadas, which were really crispy and stuffed with well seasoned filling- no air pockets to be seen! We also had some mushrooms in a light jerez sauce with fresh parsley that were lovely. Then our favorite... the gambas al ajillo. These shrimp came to our table SIZZLING in a small skillet of olive oil, lots of chopped garlic, paprika, and fresh parsley. They gave some soft bread that we drenched in the hot oil and had with the shrimp on top. It was perfection. In the second round we went with some classic tapas- a very delightful crostini with jamón ibérico, manchego, and fig jam; and the comforting and savory tortilla española. We also tried the duck wings with orange cinnamon sauce, which was ok, but the fantastic oxtail crostini- that retained the beautiful gooey tendon-y texture of oxtail stew- blew it out of the water! Finally we ordered another round of gambas al ajillo, and the magnificent pulpo a la parilla- that included two huge and herby grilled octopus tentacles with roasted baby potatoes, plenty of paprika, and chimichurri sauce. The octopus was cooked perfectly, charred and crispy on the ends but still soft and pull apart tender in the middle, not rubbery at all. Altogether this meal was one of the best all out feasts I've had in a long time. And definitely the best and most flavorful Spanish food I've had outside of Spain!!

Been going to tasca for years. The food is very good and very accessible and the prices are affordable so it's a great neighborhood place!

    Food: Patatas Bravas

Overall, a great tapas place to try. They offer several halal options with halal steak, beef, and chicken. The beef tenderloin was the highlight. Lots of excellent flavors and options to choose from. Quick and friendly service. Great seating and warm ambiance. The only downside is that parking is a hassle if you're driving in.

All of the meat and seafood tapas were phenomenal (calamari, mussels, lamb chops, shrimp) - the ingredients were fresh and everything was cooked perfectly, the food just melted in my mouth. Regarding vegetarian options, the sautéed mushrooms are a good, but the fried artichokes and the Brie were lacking in both complexity and flavor. The paellas were SO flavorful and delicious. The rice soaks up all of the juices from the seafood and herbs and broth and brings a wonderful combination of flavor to the palette. The rice towards the bottom of the pan hardens ever so slightly and the variety of textures makes the paella so fun to eat. The churros are a must have as a finisher. In addition, the ambiance is nicely European. All of the paintings play with a light/dark theme and it feels as if you are in the shadows of an alleyway somewhere in Europe. The servers are polite and seem to enjoy themselves, which adds to the warm ambiance. You will leave very satisfied.

    * Disappointed on multiple ends * We went here for dinner. The ambiance looks really good. Seating is ample. Parking is available at a nearby Whole Foods with pass provided by the restaurant. We found that all the food lacked taste and zest. We felt as if the cook was trying to wrap up his night shift and go home. The food was made with no love. Specially the paella was absolutely ridiculous: the rice in it was hard and uncooked. Thankfully the server made sure that we got a refund for it. I would suggest extra caution while shortlisting this place for dinner.

Tasca serves Spanish tapas. We were disappointed how one dimensional the food was. For example you can taste the brinyness of the mussels but that's all there was to it. The garlic white wine sauce did not come through and it was the same for the other dishes we ordered. The grilled octopus was tough from overcooking. The fried eggplant was just that. In addition, only meter parking is available and it is difficult to find.

Pretty affordable tapas place with delicious food. It feels more like the home style food instead of the fancy tapas places that you usually find in Boston. My favorite was the marinated anchovies with tomato on the bread. The tomato was more like homemade tomato sauce but it added unique flavor on top of the anchovies. The server was super helpful. She recommended the drink with the right sweetness just what I needed.

Yummylicious!!!! I usually don't think to order Tapas for delivery but was looking for something different to order last weekend from our usual, and this popped up in the search. Ordered quite a few dishes- patatas bravas (my go to tapas), tomato bread (yummy), shishito peppers (first time trying this ever), lamb meatballs, ratatouille with bread, pollo chicken (really good, tender, tasty) and tortilla espanola. I like that they gave the sauce for the patatas bravas and the tomato sauce for bread separately packaged so they wouldn't get soggy. Very thoughtful! Food was great - tasty and filling! One issue with the delivery was that the driver called us on the phone but spoke no English it seemed that he could not find the address. And poor hubs went outside looking for him in the freezing temperatures. The one night that temps dropped to record freezing temps was when the driver couldn't find the building!! Luckily from the GrubHub online tracker we were able to see where the driver was - and finally connected!! Whew! Will order again and hopefully the delivery will make it next time!

We haven't been to tasca in forever because it's a bit far from back bay. We went last night and it was great! The food is more of a 4 for me but with service & price it becomes a 5. Always had a great time here! We had the following: Patatas bravas - Good, liked the red kinda spicy sauce Croquettes - SO much jamon. Highly recommend!! Shrimp - Yummy, also a little spicy! Lamb - Loved this, cooked perfectly and the mint sauce was great Churros - Enjoyed these but would try a diff dessert next time No pressure here to hurry and leave. We had sangria and took our time after eating. Will be back!

Tips: - Reservations are necessary on a Fri/weekend night - Get the parking pass from the restaurant that allows you to park at the Whole Foods just down the street. - Cozy ambiance. Spanish style decor. - The place was pretty packed on a Fri night. A little loud for my liking. - The tapas were pretty good. The Crispy goat cheese balls were my favorite - had a sweet filling. - There were a couple of things from the menu that we ordered that they didn't have or ran out of - There are some halal options on the menu, which is nice - Service was alright. Might try it again on a less busy night if I was already in the area.

Tasca was recommended by a friend for tapas over Barcelona Wine & Bar, so we made reservations for a Friday night. The ambiance is traditional Spanish -- romantic lighting, beautiful paintings, decor pieces, and yellow archways. The bathroom is clean and even has a baby changing station. Alitas de Pato - duck wings were deliciously sweet and savory Pollo al Ajillo - very flavorful boneless chicken Pulpo a la Gallega - did not love this one, the octopus was a bit rubbery and lacked in flavor Gambas al Pil Pil - I can eat this all day, also not that spicy Brie - really beautiful combo with the apple chutney, pear, and crostini Patatas Bravas - a bit disappointed with the flavor on this dish Boquerones - pretty good anchovies on tomato-garlic bread Be sure to get a pitcher of their red sangria!

We walked into a warm, energetic space with dim lighting, an open dining room, and a constant buzz that makes it a great choice for a night out with friends or a date. The restaurant has a vibrant, social energy that encourages sharing and exploration, and the open layout adds to the sense of activity without feeling chaotic. Rather than ordering individual entrées, the experience is centered around sharing a variety of dishes, making each visit feel a little different depending on what you choose. The tapas are the highlight of the menu, with plenty of options that encourage trying a little bit of everything. The bacon-wrapped dates are one of the signature dishes, balancing sweet and savory flavors, while the patatas bravas, croquettes, and charcuterie boards are reliable choices to start the meal. If you are looking for something more substantial, the seafood paella and squid ink pasta stand out as excellent main dishes, offering rich flavors and generous portions that are easy to split between two or more people. The olive oil cake is also worth saving room for if you want to end the meal with dessert, and the overall progression of the meal works well with the tapas format. The drink menu is just as impressive as the food. Wine is the main focus, with an extensive list featuring Spanish and international selections, but the sangria and cocktails are equally popular. It is the kind of place where you can easily spend a couple of hours sharing plates while working your way through a few different drinks, and the beverage program is thoughtfully curated to match the style of the food. Service is one of the restaurant's strongest points. The staff are knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list, and dishes arrive steadily throughout the meal instead of all at once, creating a relaxed dining pace. The pacing allowed us to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed, and the team checked in at the right moments without hovering. The restaurant is consistently busy, especially on weekends, so reservations are highly recommended. Even with a reservation, there can occasionally be a short wait, and the lively atmosphere means the dining room can get quite loud during peak hours. The energy of the room is part of what makes the experience work, but it is worth keeping in mind if you are looking for a quieter dinner. Barcelona Wine Bar is one of the best places in Boston for Spanish-inspired tapas and wine. The combination of flavorful shareable dishes, a well-curated drink menu, attentive service, and vibrant atmosphere makes it an easy choice for group dinners, celebrations, or date nights. It offers a meal that feels both communal and polished, with a setting that encourages slowing down and enjoying the evening. Just be prepared for the energetic environment and plan ahead if you are visiting during the busiest times.

Last but surely not least, the garlic chicken (pollo al Ajillo) is the best chicken I've ever had, hand to God. Spiced with everything nice and delicious oil and garlic that you deserve. Even on a first date, you'll be kissed after giving this to your significant other. This fine establishment is one of my favorites and I always am satisfied, leaving with a full belly. I hope the same for you!

4.5 stars My Spanish…read morefriend took us here and ordered lots and lots of Tapas. Each Tapas was delicious, fine quality, and plated with such care. Both the drink and food menus have a staggering variety of items. My favorites were the tortilla español ($10) that came with the delicious garlic aioli and the jamon Iberico ($34), though nothing was a dud. The croquetas were hot, fluffy, and so unique. The interior is gorgeous and the staff are wonderful.

Beautiful Space, Catastrophic Execution…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in years. We visited Boqueria Boston on Father's Day and arrived to find the restaurant nearly empty. Despite that, the experience started poorly when the host refused to accommodate a simple request to sit near a TV so we could watch the FIFA match. After being seated, it took roughly 20 minutes just to be acknowledged. We ordered two bottled beers, a bottle of still water, and tap water. The tap water arrived within minutes, but the beers and bottled water took another 10+ minutes. The beers were served without glasses, and the bottled water was simply dropped on the table without being served. When ordering, we were informed that at least five menu items were unavailable, including the seafood paella we had specifically come to try. The explanation was that they were out of clams and mussels. After insisting they check with the kitchen, we were told they could prepare it without the clams, so we agreed. The pacing of the meal was baffling. Pimientos de Padrón arrived after about 15 minutes, but then another 20-25 minutes passed before the cheese board and salad appeared. The quality was disappointing throughout. The goat cheese tasted like a bulk food-service product, and the pan con tomate was overwhelmed by raw garlic. The gambas took roughly 45 minutes to arrive and came with only three tiny pieces of bread. We immediately ordered additional grilled bread and waited another 20 minutes for that. Throughout the meal, every inquiry about the delays was met with excuses, despite the restaurant being mostly empty and fully staffed. After waiting more than an hour for the paella, I finally requested the check. Miraculously, the paella appeared moments later. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth the wait. It was bland, lacked any depth of flavor, and was among the most forgettable paellas I've ever had. To make matters worse, no fresh plates or utensils were provided for the main course. Service remained consistently poor. Water glasses were never refilled. Different servers randomly dropped off dishes, yet nobody seemed interested in clearing empty plates. We eventually started stacking dirty dishes on a neighboring table ourselves before someone finally removed them. Our primary server informed us she was going on break and essentially disappeared for the remainder of the meal, only reappearing when it was time to present the check. The only employee who showed any accountability was an older gentleman who eventually stepped in, acknowledged the problems, and provided a 50% discount after realizing part of our order had never been rung in. While appreciated, the gesture came far too late to salvage the experience. Beyond the service issues, the operational details were concerning. The open kitchen made it easy to observe staff working without hairnets or hats, and employees were constantly entering and exiting the same restrooms used by guests, often carrying backpacks and personal belongings through the dining room. What makes this especially disappointing is that I've had much better experiences at Boqueria locations in New York. However, this visit reinforced what feels like a steady decline in the brand. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The concept is strong. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, the management and training appear to be severely lacking. With so many outstanding dining options in Boston's Seaport, I cannot recommend this location. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
