Paella made with Bomba rice is what drew me into Tash. It's hard to find a good paella here in AZ and while I've never personally tasted it straight from the font in Spain, I've tried to make it at home and it's hard to get perfect! The paella arrived in the requisite pan, and looked spectacular. You want a wide variety of seafood, chicken, legit Spanish chorizo, with that lovely crusty socarrat at the bottom of your pan? You've come to the right place! The servers warned me it would be a mighty dish that easily 2 people can share and they were right! I ate maybe 40-50% of it and took the leftovers home which also got rave reviews from the fam. The only negative was that the paella tasted better with a squeeze of lemon in it, but the lemon slices were cut to be more aesthetically pleasing than for adding more flavor to the dish. Taking the dish home, I cut up a lemon into wedges and it was a lot easier to get juice this way than from the thin slice the dish originally came with. Although it seems like a minor point, the lemon juice really helped add some needed acidity to the dish. The outdoor seating looked very comfy with wide couches and tables. However, a lot of the couch cushions were stained. Also, while the outdoor area is nice, it's not completely shaded depending on the time of day, and there are no misters so it can get very hot if it's very sunny that day. The service staff was exceptional and very attentive. They were busy for a Friday night and seated us informing us we had to be out in 45min for the next reservation. Shortly after the staff said no worries just take your time. I ordered a season cherry beer which was more like a cider but tasted great. We selected our food visually off prior Yelp photos. I went with paella and my wife with the braised short rib. Food arrived pretty quick and was visually very appealing well done with the presentation. The paella had a nice rice crust, tender chicken, sausage was the best, with some shrimp, cherry clams, and mussels. The seafood was underwhelming and small nibbles. I felt like it needed more flavor overall. I was looking for salt or hotsauce. I would definitely order again. The braised short rib was cooked perfect but the demiglase was weak as was the flavor of the rib. It simply had no depth. Perhaps the tartness of the beer threw my whole taste off. Yes, TikTok brought us here and I am so glad it did. First off all hats off for our server, Kyle. He was extremely personable and very attentive. He always made sure we were doing good and never felt rushed. He even pointed out the Instagram worthy drinks for me which I very much appreciated. We had the prosciutto, arugula and mozzarella pizza and it was SO GOOD. You could tell these were high quality ingredients. To drink I had The Philosopher and had them add peach vodka. The crispy salmon salad was good but my sister was surprised the salmon was breaded & fried, not the salmon skin. I had the scallops with gnocchi dish & the scallops actually had gritty taste from the scallop or spices? The person who made the gnocchi must of made the dough wrong. They were heavy, but good. The dish had a "Sun dried tomato pesto" it was a creamy tomato with no herbs. Not flavorful. Disappointed. My mother shrimp, bacon pasta ok. I read the other reviews coming in & they were like this. Unbeknownst to us, this was AZ Restaurant Week. Some of us ordered from the Special menu ($55 each) which was amazing in so many ways - price, choices, generous portions and so delicious. Those that ordered from regular menu were very pleased w/what they ordered. We all agreed, there wasn't one thing we had that was bad. Also, our waiter (Thomas) went over and beyond w/his service. Now I have a gluten allergy and qhen I asked the host about a gluten free menu she said talk to your server, but I couldn't because he never really came to talk to us. Now gluten is hidden in so muxh stuff including around proteins plus this answer did not make me feel confident or that the server cared at all about my allergy. Unfortunately, there was a private event that took over the outdoor patio dining space, so our table was inside the restaurant instead - so that was disappointing, as the view outside would've been a great experience. We managed to get into Talking Stick's 'hidden gem' restaurant last night and did not regret it. I was told they do not take reservations for less than 8 people -there were only 3 of us- but some tables were reserved, so I am assuming this is for players reward club members? Anyway, we showed up early enough to get a table, but I did notice a line forming later. It is a very pretty restaurant with floor to ceiling windows and some large floral decor in the middle of the restaurant. It is sort of an open kitchen concept so you see everything in the kitchen. Leo was our server and he was top notch! Very pleasant and knowledgable. We all ordered from the cocktail menu and each drink was delicious. The smoked rye was especially impressive. We started with the calamari and the fired cauliflower. Oddly the cauliflower came out cold- like chilled-but as soon as we told Leo about it, he took it back and I saw them throw it out and start again. This time around it was warm and delicious. For dinner I went with my favorite beef short ribs to see how Tash compared to others. The potatoes, the gravy, the fresh farm carrots that tasted like they were just pulled from the ground- perfection!! No need to search anymore-this is the best short rib meal in my opinion. My dinner mates had the scallops- served with gnocchi and lamb chops and both were delicious. The portion sizes were great- quality food but not too little or too much. Highly recommend the Quattro pizza with arugula/prosciutto and the Grand Canyon Prickly Pear beer. DO NOT recommend the Paella mixta- it came out scarily quick and tasted like it was premade- was not authentic AT ALL & was super heavy on tomato sauce. Everyone but the server was great- several people came to our table to ask how we were, offer us more water or to retire dirty plates. When we asked our server what she recommended to eat and drink she was very blah & not knowledgeable about the menu. Wished I'd gone for the Pork Ossobucco Pappardelle to try, instead of going for two tapa plates. Pork dish included carrots, an important aromatic in many dishes, that may not be easily omitted due to my allergy, and I didn't want to have to inquire about possible allergens, so I went with Fired Up Cauliflower, which was delicious served fresh, and the Jamon Serrano, which one can get anywhere. I'll strive to concentrate only on dishes I wouldn't find anywhere else, and if that leaves me with dessert and beverages, then I am prepared to make sacrifices. Karen W. was impressed with the Paella Mixta she ordered. It certainly looked and smelled enticing! One of a few occasions I wished I weren't allergic to rice and seafood. I think relatives would enjoy this meal, which at $29, could feed at least three people, possibly five or six, if enjoyed with other entrees and side dishes. First time in to this new restaurant at Talking Stick. The ambience is great, it's got lots of glass windows to peer out at the mountains and enjoy sunsets also the kitchen is completely visible. Food is creative and delicious. Had two starters: brussels and cauliflower, both so flavorful. Loved the crispy shallots in the brussels and the muhammara and tzatziki sauces on the cauliflower are so good together with the charred florets. Ordered paella mixta and a pizza due for entrees. It doesn't say it on the menu but paella has socarrat which is a crispy flavorful bottom layer on the pan so know that it's not burnt. It's supposed to be this way and it's a nice crispy tasty and caramelized layer at the bottom. The pizza is made in a wood fired oven so it has amazing bubbly crispy goodness. It has just enough fresh toppings to compliment the thin crispy pizza dough. Last but not least I ordered to desserts, chocolate torta and polenta cake. Both delish, chocolate torta came up a little on top with that buttery rum fig sauce that accompanies the moist devils food-like chocolate cake which also has a rich chocolate filling. The fig takes it over the top! The Orange polenta is like a citrus cornbread with a kiss of savory rosemary herb and the creme anglaise reminds me of a bread pudding topping. I would give the food 5 stars but the reason for the 4 stars is because the ribs were supposed to be table side smoked and that did not happen. Our waiter was very lack luster with very little personality. He came over to take our order and to give us our check. A runner brought out all the food. He never came over when our drinks were gone to ask if we'd like another, also never even offered dessert which I thought was odd especially since we told him it was our anniversary. Four friends and I ended up at Tash on NYE when the other restaurant we went to at Talking Stick had a long line. Initially we were told the wait would be 3 hours even though there were only 10 people in the entire establishment. Reservation at 7:15pm on a Saturday, my group arrived about 7:05pm and were not even offered to be seated at the table first while the remaining 2 people were on their way. Our server was difficult to hear over the live DJ, but we managed to order drinks and appetizers. Drinks were ok, cauliflower appetizer could have used a little bit of salt, and then entrees came out one plate at a time. A good few minutes in between and the. Everyone was waiting for my plate of shrimp scampi to come out and it never came. I told the rest of my group to go ahead and eat. Our server did not come by to check on us until 10 min after the last entree arrived, so I was not able to ask about my meal. He said he would check on it and 15 min later my food came out. Needless to say, it was so bland, not visually appealing and I ate only a couple bites of shrimp, it was so bad. Looking around at other groups, there really weren't that many people there for a Saturday night, and so the lack of service was very strange. I did talk to the manager and she comped my entree, but overall, Tash was a disappointment and I will not return. What's worse here, the food or the service? It's a tossup... went for restaurant week. wife and I ordered an appetizer and entrée and a dessert. we should've known there was a problem when we ordered and two appetizers and one entrée was on the table in under three minutes. everything came out cold. One entrée listed as Copper State 42 day dry aged beef bruschetta, came out as four pieces of tax toast with ground beef crumbles. That's it! What happens when you pick up a piece of toast with cold, ground beef crumbles, they fall on the table underpants back on the plate. It was laughable. 37 minutes later with no sign of our waiter anywhere at a table with nothing on it, but two glasses of water. We finally got our second entrée, also cold -pork ravioli, in Alfredo sauce. We had to flag a busboy down to please find our waiter so we could get our check and maybe even see our desserts at some point. I'm not kidding in the hour and 20 minutes we were there we elevator at the beginning and 37 minutes later and then never again. the menu descriptions are so scary misleading. The drinks are enticing with incredible accompaniments. You get nothing. Seriously we had a Mojito with no lime mint... Nothing. we were sitting next to the kitchen, which has a clear window, it was like watching a Three Stooges act, watching them fumble through the tickets trying to find out what happened to our dessert order. The restaurant was about half full and the manager who finally brought our dessert, said they were stacked up and so busy that they just hadn't made them yet. I highly recommend a date night at Tash. When you go, prepare for parking. This place gets packed. But once you are in the restaurant, everything melts away. They used to have an extraordinary view of the mountains and sunset, but they've built a temporary facility that had blocked these views. I'm hopeful they get it down within the next year. As for the food and service- love it! I get their dips (goat cheese one is my favorite) and breads. After dinner, head down to the casino bar and enjoy some local music and dancing. Scotty and I wandered into Tash late this afternoon at the Talking Stick Resort and Casino in Scottsdale. Open for just three days, this can be a win-win or a tumultuous disaster. But, we were at a casino and feeling the win-win and a jackpot it was! The hostess was delightful. Lynn was our server and she was the best! She sat us at a gorgeous table overlooking the beautiful tribal land. She gave us a brief history of the land and how the name of the restaurant historically came to be.
