So very very disappointed with Taste Budd's. We have been coming here for years. Not only for a quick bite but bringing the entire family for breakfast or lunch. What a total disappointment in 2021. It's been awhile since I've been in but it's like a different place. Looks beat down and dirty. Before we ordered I popped into the bathroom and is was absolutely disgusting. Honestly looked like a shitty bus station bathroom. Garbage on the floor and very poorly cleaned. And during a pandemic, WTF!! That was just our welcome back. Ordering our lunch in the line was a joke. Signs posted that masks were mandated, people arguing and the management doing absolutely fuck all. If you post that masks are required, then do your job and enforce it, as opposed to just standing there doing NOTHING. Or just don't post anything and be the flakey business you seem to be. Obviously trying to play both sides of the political game and failing at both. On to the food and service. Service was pretty good when we were ordering. The guy that took our order was knowledgeable and helpful but seemed very disinterested in even being there. On to the food. Decent. Good to see that hasn't plummeted like everything else. We've been house hunting in Hudson Valley for a year! Always LOVE stopping in Taste Budd's Cafe for afternoon coffee or lunch snack. I love the food and ambience at Taste Budd's, however, their service is way too slow--anywhere from 30-45 mins for a simple egg sandwich. If they are that busy (ie popular), then a) hire more help, b) enlarge your kitchen so multiple items can be prepared with more than one person, or both. Otherwise, you should not be in the food business--period. That is an unacceptable amount of time for someone to wait for something as easy to prepare as a breakfast sandwich. Will not be ordering food here again any time soon. That being said, the drinks are great, but they are not equipped for the food service business. Making people wait or call ahead upwards of an hour advance is simply unacceptable. read more

Really excellent coffee house! Came here on a break from a recording session at Bard, and what a gem! The vibe is of a comfy coffee house with a cute interior and lots of menu options. The sandwich menu has something for everyone and I really enjoyed my grilled cheese. The baked goods were plentiful and the triple berry muffin was delicious. The staff was very helpful and friendly and didnt shy away when I asked for the largest size of iced coffee humanely possible. Great coffee, tons of drink options and seats! read more

This business uses a third party service to route their deliveries to gig delivery drivers in the area to properly and efficiently serve you. For example, if you order on the Doordash app, this third party service could route your order to a driver using the Ubereats app. The problem is the tips you enter for your driver on one app are not being properly routed to the driver, who is the rightful recipient of the payment in appreciation of their service. One of two things is happening here. Either the cash is going to the third party service, or the cash is going to the restaurant. It's not going to the driver. You can ask any gig driver in the Hudson Valley on any service whether they are receiving tips from Taste Budd's Cafe orders. They are not, unless the customer tips cash directly to the driver. Now I am certainly NOT accusing this restaurant of fraud. This could very well be a systemic control deficiency within the third party service. But my issue here (and I have first hand knowledge of this) is that the restaurant does not care one bit about this issue, and refuses to properly address this matter with the drivers to come up with an effective remedy. These drivers are doing a valuable service for this restaurant on an independent contract basis, and their own customers are providing tips expecting them to be received by their delivery driver, yet such transactions are not occurring. Any respectable business that cares about their customers would seek to figure out what the problem is, and discontinue their use of the third party service if the problem was not resolved. However, that is not what Taste Budd's position is. When confronted with the issue by the drivers, the employees of the restaurant are getting completely defensive, emphatically denying misappropriation of funds on their part, yet showing no concern that this is a serious matter, rudely refusing to work with the drivers on the matter, and refusing to consider terminating the use of the tried party service. They are acting as if the fact that the misappropriation of their customers' hard earned money is not a serious matter. This is grossly unacceptable conduct, no matter what size a business is. So please keep this in mind. When you tip via a delivery app or through an online order for this business, there is a very good chance that tip is not going to your driver, it is going into someone else's pocket, and Taste Budd's Cafe doesn't care. This is not an accusation. This is cold hard truth. read more

Amazing Turmeric Latte and Blueberry crumb Muffin! Great atmosphere

Every time I am in the area I always have to stop by at this cafe. So when I came up to visit friends a couple of days ago, of course I had to stop by! This place has such a chill atmosphere with plenty of places to sit and a great place to study or get some work done. They have seating both inside and outside which is great because most of the cafes around me don't offer a nice seating area outside. Once you get inside they have a lot of different options on the menu to choose from. They have a variety of different sandwiches, pastries, and drinks. But my all-time favorite thing on the menu is the avocado melt. Once I find a good thing on the menu, it's hard for me to choose something else. The only thing I change about this is i sub out the cheese for mozzarella, because mozzarella just makes everything 10x better. As for the beverages there, I'm not the biggest fan. They don't shine with them, so I usually just get food when I come here. However, this trip I did attempt to try a couple of different drinks, one being the iced chai, which was just all right. Nothing too special. My fiancé got the green tea smoothie, which looked and tasted nothing like green tea. But I guess we should have known better since the place is not owned by someone who knows a lot about tea or is from an asian background. As for the pastries, they're decent, not the best, but it will do the job. The people that work there are very friendly and help you through the menu and also bring your food to you after you order. However it is a place where you bus your own tables. But I really like how they have the options for recycling a lot of their garbage when you finish. All in all, definitely go there for the food! read more
