I'm going hard on this review, because there are very few places that I think are doing food right - but Taste! Craft Eatery is doing their own thing and nailing it. The vibe of the place feels pretty cozy, there's a good outside eating area that we did not use because when we visited we were in a heat wave. That being said we were sat immediately upon walking in and began to look through the menu. The menu looks confusing at first, but it's really pretty simple. Lots of options and you can mix and match whatever you want. I got Mary's little lamb, and the tri tip slider because that's what Guy Fieri got and that's good enough for me. Both sliders were beyond amazing - juicy, and tasty meat with just a little spice. The bread is crisp and fresh, and the toppings were top notch as well. This gets a little sloppy as you go, but it's a meal that is well worth it. This is a highly recommended place in my book, if you are in the area please go to Taste! and give it a shot. Went here for a larger group family birthday party. Things started okay but quickly deteriorated after the appetizers (French fry's, calamari, salads, etc) all of which were not bad and served in a reasonable time after ordering (15-20 min) but after that we waited over an hour for the main course to arrive, which we'd ordered with the appetizers. In fact it took so long we had to ask what happened to our food only to find out they'd had a glitch with their system that "lost" our order. This should've been something our server told us during the hour between apps and main course but it didn't happen. When the food finally showed up it was mediocre at best. My wife and I ordered 3 sliders (2 beef & 1 chicken) and a Mac n cheese. We ordered the two burgers to be done medium well since she need to eat well done meat yet one of the two burgers came out entirely pink (medium rare at best). The chicken was incredibly dry and not juicy at all. The Mac n cheese was awful there was no creaminess to it, it was a glob of cheese on top of noodles. I would not recommend this place to anyone eating out in the Paso Robles area. read more

The menu has so many options (maybe too many). We got the Jammin BLT slider which I wouldn't get again. Bacon felt thin and cheap and no fig jam was on it. The chimmi chicken was delicious and would for sure get it again. Also got the savory Brussels and I just wish they were hotter. They were lukewarm. My wife and I dropped by Taste for lunch on Saturday while in Pasa Robles and boy did we make the right choice. The wait for a table was pretty short even though it was right during the lunch hour and I expected a longer wait. Our server was very polite and asked if we had been there before and gave us a run down of the menu concept. My wife had the groovy grains salad and really enjoyed it, it's a salad she said she won't find many places, it was very unique. The biggest critique she had was she wished the dressing had a bit more maple, she wanted it to be a touch sweeter but other than that she said the salad was very good. I had the slider trio and went with the Vacation, Chimi Chicken, and Forest burger. All 3 were fantastic. Very well cooked, the bun was slightly crispy, the chimichurri sauce was delicious and the hummus on the vacation burger was very good as well. I ate here with my mom, husband, and 4 year old for dinner the one night we stayed in Paso on our mini road trip, and I wish I could take the spot home with me!! We dined on a Sunday evening and put our names in the virtual queue on the website for a "first available" table for our party of four. Our estimated wait was 25-35 minutes, and at about 35 minutes, they offered us a high top table. We declined because of the 4 year old's comfort/ability, and chose to wait 10-15 more minutes for a regular table. We sat inside and the ambiance was so cozy! It was nicely decorated for the holidays with garlands and ornaments. The general vibe of the menu is perfect for an indecisive person like me. It gives "you pick two" vibes from Panera but with way more interesting and delicious options, plus the ability to pick three or four items, depending on how hungry you are. The three adults all ordered the Trio in different forms. My selection was the Cubano slider, Mac & cheese with Gouda and bacon (OHMYGOD), and the Super Power Spin salad. I don't know whether it was because I was FAMISHED or whether the food really was that good (or maybe both?). The slider was on the large side for a slider, more like a petite bun vs. the size of a Hawaiian roll (which is always what I picture when I hear slider). The flavors were amazing! The Mac & cheese was so rich, they really didn't skimp on the bacon. I'm glad it was a small portion because any more likely would've landed me with a stomachache. The salad was divine and maybe (dare I say!) my favorite part!! Such a wonderful combination of textures and flavors. I'd order this salad as an entree in a heartbeat. Drink-wise, I was jonesing for a dark beer to warm me up from the 40-degree air outside, but their beer menu was lacking in this department. Went for lunch and we all tried the sliders and salads combos. I really enjoyed the cowboy Cobb, Cuban and Bleu sliders and a Mac n cheese with pulled pork bbq. Very tasty and a great lunch portion. The others felt the bottom bun on their sliders a little dry/hard, but mine was fine. Our second time at Taste. The service was good this visit, servers are spread a little thin perhaps but it was fine. The place is upbeat and a good place to meet up with friends. Our server seemed very distracted and would just walk away from the table without saying a word. The other servers, food runners, shift leads, were apathetic at best. Like they all had somewhere else to be and did not care in the slightest about our orders or our questions about the menu. And in regards to the menu, can someone explain the price jump of $10 from a trio to a quartet? A duo is $17 and a trio is $22. That's $5 for the additional item. Fair enough. Then to go to a quartet, it's $32, a $10 jump. It should be $17, then $22, then $27. If two people ordered one duo and one quartet it would be $49 but two trios would be $44. for the same number of items. Makes no sense. At least the bourbon was cheap. If the food wasn't half way decent I would have gone with 1 star. read more

I love how the menu set up is in duo, trio, & quartet which provides a wide variety of options for a perfect meal. Kiana was on point, cheerful, knowledgable, and helped us refrain from running out of the restaurant with the extremely loud party of approx 20 to 25 guests who took up 1/3 of the dining room. We (my husband and friends in the neighborhood), have eaten here a number of times and it is good, but kind of a "weird" menu with one, two or a combo of three things you can choose to make up what you are having, with way too many items available to create your "perfect combo." That's all okay however where they lost us recently--and all the usual friends that were eating there--is to get rid of their Happy Hour. They made it on "Wednesdays Only" now which is pretty lame and we all do not care to put that much thought into "Oh darn, it's not Wednesday today." Their HR drinks were $10.00 each which is not even anything all that special, but to carve it down to one day per week only? Really? And they are now going to loose a LOT of food sales because we would go for happy hour and end up spending at least $150.00+ on food besides, because we were already there, but there is way too much competition and there are things like Pig Iron in Templeton with 3-6 pm $5.00 cocktails all week long! (including weekends). Sorry "Taste" but I think your pety move is going too hurt your business. :( read more

My order: I got the "duo" order which is any 2 food items from the box with the dotted line around it - I got a beet salad with butternut squash and avocado, as well as a burger with truffle aioli, for $18 (extra $1 more than regular "duo" cost because of the truffle aioli fancy burger). We also got 2 shirley temples for $3 each. Pros: - REALLY GREAT PRICES for this area of Paso Robles - for a downtown area that has mostly boujee restaurants of more than 2 dollar signs, this was a real breath of fresh air! Fancy vibes and ambiance without the fancy prices. - Despite the "lower" price of ~$20 per person, the food quality was great -my friend had really delicious garlic fries, and my burger and salad were both super tasty, flavorful, and not too salty. They also didn't skimp on the quantity - the burgers and salads may look small when you first get your order, but I was actually quite full for an average appetite after. - Not much of a wait late Friday night - Really cute outdoor ambiance - we sat on the patio so we were able to people watch in the evening since it overlooks the grass area/sidewalk, and the heat lamps kept us warm. - You can pay via a QR code and apple pay, so you don't even need to take out your wallet. - LOTS of choices on the menu - which makes this a very good choice for groups of people if people have different taste or health parameters - I liked that there was a choice of more "bar" like food like burgers, but there were many salads and soups to choose from as well. I'm usually not a big fan of "American" food, but this place exceeded my expectations by a lot. - Really kind servers and hostesses Cons: - I think the only con is that you might not get "checked on" as often if you sit on the patio, but I didn't mind that because I usually don't like when waiters check in too often. - Street parking can sometimes be tricky in this area if it's really busy I 10/10 would come again due to the super reasonable prices and really solid food variety and quality! read more

Very mediocre. There is a reason that Taste! does not have very long waits for dinner. It was just alright. Basically, you pick 2, 3, or 4 things on the menu to make your own meal. However, it was very confusing regarding what should be ordered together. I made the mistake of ordering 3 items, but they all ended up being very similar sandwiches. I wish there was more guidance regarding what one should order. We started with a salad as well. Glad we got that to balance out the 3 sandwiches that I got. We also started with the Calamari. Both of these starters were alright. I don't think I'd return next time I'm in Paso, and will most likely try something else. Service was fine, but nothing special. Made the reservation for 5/17/26 at 3:15pm - we came up to the check-in desk, no one was there. We waited for a couple of minutes, a young lady came up to the desk, and didn't acknowledge us. Went straight to the laptop and started working and after a few minutes looked up and we said we have a reservation. She let us in and was saying "watch your step" but her back was towards us. We assumed that's what she said because we saw the sign right in the middle of the steps as we were walking up to go to the table. We ordered the food featured by DDD - lamb kofta, Argentinian steak sandwich and truffled up fries. We felt both the lamb and steak lack taste and the steak was tough. The service was great and being in the heart of a wine country, the beer and wine selections pretty darn solid. I would say probably more solid than it would need to be, but it is much appreciated. We came here late on a Saturday night, hoping that they would take a pretty large group in. There were six of us. We weren't used to things closing that early so we were walking around a few places before we settled on this one and luckily we were able to get seated and order without putting undue stress on the kitchen. They have a unique ordering system where you could either order some items à la cart or they have a combo system where you can order 2 to 4 items. I ended up getting a three item combo with the Cubano, the grain salad, and the soup of the day, which was a carrot and squash soup. I really really enjoyed that soup! Ha ha as a matter of fact, everybody at my table ordered that soup and we all enjoyed it. I thought my Cubano was delicious as well and so was the quinoa grain salad. I ordered a Zinfandel to go with my meal since I figured we are in the area where they make great Zinfandels. read more

Do you ever just want a couple bites of this and a couples bites of that? This is the restaurant to come to! We started out with sweet potato fries, umm, some of my favorite. They had the perfect crisp texture. We ordered the quadruple with 4 choices and went with bacon and Gouda Mac and cheese, a southwest salad, and 2 sliders. One of the sliders was the chicken vacation mode. Ummm, absolute favorite item on the menu. The vaquero burger was the other slider we chose. Brunch-focused Review: Taste! is an ideal place to take out of town guests or for a group where everyone has different tastes. They truly do have something for everyone!! Really nice terrace too with a gorgeous view of the park. Love the seasonal menu changes. So bright & fresh! For dinner it is absolutely 5 Stars - only wish there is that the ciabatta bread wasn't so hard - not easy to cut & share. A softer bun would be a better choice or nice to have available as an option. This review is specifically for their brunch which we tried for the first time last weekend. Short answer: not our favorite but was worth a try. We each got a trio so we could share & try lots of things. The hollandaise sauce was tasty - and typically a great test to see overall kitchen execution. The standout for us was by far the Canuck fries which was funny bc it was a last minute addition to our order and you wouldn't think it would be the highlight. Tri-tip (I think it was a Benedict) was impossible for my partner to cut - very over done - he had to disassemble the sandwich and try to eat the meat in one piece. I enjoyed my croissant sandwich. Messy but had good yet, predictable flavors, whereas many Taste combos excite and surprise the palate. The two bowls we tried were lackluster although the better one by far had a tasty apricot jam on top. We wish we had tried a salad or something lighter as even though the items were small, they felt very heavy even though we definitely brought our appetites after a morning of physical labor. We made a reservation and probably didn't need to. Service was pleasant - server seemed genuinely happy to be there - it was very slow though waiting for the check. Typically at Taste they bring a receipt with a QR code so paying up is quick and easy. Not this time. So - overall, Taste is great (!) for lunch & dinner & cocktails - and our go-to for guests and groups. Definitely try it for brunch to see what you think. I visited Paso Robles for the first time yesterday on Valentines and made reservations for dinner for me and my husband at Taste . I loved the atmosphere and decor it definitely had a nice vibe . The food & drinks were good they had lots to pick from ( sliders , salads , and macaroni n cheese ) BUT THE BEST thing about Taste is their service staff !! Particularly our server Issac who has excellent customer service skills , he is funny , attentive , and kind ! This restaurant has a GEM with him as well as several of the girl staff who stopped by to compliment my dress . I had a wonderful time mostly because of the servers . Came for lunch and really loved their concept of picking differ prices for items you can from choose from ( there were many) Great costumer service and love the decor/ambiance !
