We had a great experience here overall with our recent visit; I don't understand why the yelp rating is as low as it is. The restaurant is very cute inside, and feels like it could be in Korea. Service was very attentive and friendly. The banchan were all very tasty, and I really liked the jja jang myun, but the bulgogi and kimbap were good too. Delivery Review: this is one of my favorite places to get delivery in New York City. The food always comes very quickly and everything is extremely flavorful. I want to first say that I am not Korean, nor am I an expert on Korean cuisine but the food here needs some love. The dishes are not as flavorful as the dishes from other Korean restaurants in the area such as Silver Factory and Woori Korean. A few months ago I ordered fried chicken, mandu and sundubu. The mandu did not taste homemade, it was comparable to bibigo frozen dumplings from Costco, the chicken was oily and the soup was watered down. Despite this I decided to give the restaurant another chance mainly because of the high reviews on Google. Unfortunately I was disappointed again!! This time I ordered samgyetang and it was flavorless! I wish I was exaggerating. I had to add chili oil, salt, pepper and soy sauce to bring the dish to life. This is a takeout review I got the kimchi and tofu stew which were alright. I have had better tasting tofu stew in the past so my expectations were already quite high. For the price point and taste/quality, I do not think it was that great. Uber eats definitely inflates the prices but I was super disappointed to see that $8 got me this bit of kimchi. The tofu stew with beef has a lot of oil, maybe too much and the beef cuts were not my favorite. Overall it was ok. Maybe their other food is better. My boyfriend ordered Bulgogi kimbap delivery for me from here (so sweet, I know!!) Kimbap is $9 but a +$3 charge for a protein (Bulgogi or tuna). I was super excited for it to come as I was craving kimbap for the loooongest time. Sad to say, it took 2 hours for it to arrive so the rice got kind of hard and cold. The fillings were: Bulgogi, imitation crab, egg, spinach, radish, carrot and burdock. Whoever made the Bulgogi, please, I need to speak with them because it straight up tastes like beef jerky LOL. It's sweet, hard but also kind of chewy. Wasn't the worst but hmm, weird. The kimbap wasn't cut thoroughly so all the pieces were attached together and all the fillings kept falling apart. The japchae is pretty good too, but a bit expensive. Fresh peppers, cabbage, carrots and other veggies. Big size and portion, easily dinner and lunch the next day. Bibimbap: Alternatively, I had the worst bibimbap I have ever had before. Flavors were not good, nor fresh. It didn't even look appetizing. Taste Korea 232 has been in our korean delivery rotation even before the pandemic. I'd put them up there with Ms Ohho as one of the Korean spots that delivers consistently fine fare. This place has always been our go-to for Korean takeout food specifically the soondubu (Beef or Seafood) with Rice ($15). Before Covid happened, our go-to place for soondubu has always been BCD Tofus House at Ktown, but due to the restrictions we were fortunate to find this place to fill up our craving for soondubu. Food: Takeout is never really the same as eating at the restaurant while its boiling hot, but it still fulfills our craving! The soondubu is wrapped very securely so we never have to worry about it accidentally spilling. But it does stick my fingers pretty easily when I try to pour it in my bowl. The rice comes with the order so its not an extra charge. Overall it is pretty good. Overall: I highly recommend to try the soondubu! We will order here again with our usual orders! read more

The kimbop is great - my only request is to ask for better cuts. The geem was not fully cut so when we grabbed the pieces the rolls would fall apart. Its quite odd that this restaurant has such poor reviews and perhaps this is due to service and whatnot, but in terms of the actual food quality, I can say that this restaurant is legit. I got the budaejigae and the jokbal for 2 and was pleasantly surprised despite the higher price point. The jokbal had great texture, portion size, and just pure porky flavor. The budaejigae was spicy, salty, and a perfect amalgamation of meats and carbs. I would definitely eat here again and look forward to my next visit. read more

This place has a pretty swanky modern interior and is underground from a cafe upstairs. The waiter seemed a little awkward but I didnt really mind. We came in on MLK and were one of the only two groups in. Love love love the Korean fried chicken here sooo much. It is to die for. It is so crisp but also juicy. I always get the soy garlic flavor. I really like the umami sweetness on it. I also enjoyed the starters they gave us, especially the broccoli. I bought food through Uber eats and it was really good. I got the short ribs with white rice.

The korean fried chicken was amazing but the sulung tang was really a disappointment. Traditionally you use glass or potato starch noodles in this dish but they put in a bunch of rice noodles to eat with rice which threw me off. Coming from ktown in Los Angeles and living in Korea, I've just never seen this happen. The broth also lacked the depth of beef bones no matter how much salt I put in. The ban Chan's were delicious though. I came on a Friday at 3pm and we were the only ones in. I do hope this place does well in midst of the pandemic. read more

We have been coming to this place for four years, its my favorite restaurant in our neighborhood. The food is always great but today was the best meal we had here. Our four dishes were all deep red but all tasted completely different. The kimchee stew and stir fried pork were both very complex and amazing in flavor. The tteokbokki was sweet and spicy. We also had fried kimchee, which wasn't on the menu but made on request. But it wasn't just plain kimchee, it had this great smokey and sesame seasoning, excellent. Then there is the location. Im always excited to come here because it feels like your stepping out of Bed-Stuy and going somewhere else. Its chic and modern but also cozy and comfortable. It's not so fancy that you have to be proper, but it's not loud or crowded or super busy that you feel rushed to finish the food and leave. The food itself is pretty good. Not super super authentic, but it does have decent flavor. The hisbicous lemonade was soooo refreshing and yum. This is a great little place to go with a few friends when you want nice food with a relaxing atmosphere. The cafe upstairs (Cafe Phil) is also a great place to relax with friends afterwards. Although you can't see it on their menu, the drinks are super customizable in terms of milk options and sweetness which was great. Matcha latte definitely recommend. I figured since the upstairs was a coffee shop with wifi for paying customers I could buy something from there AS WELL and work from there with my food. When I sat down with my food from the same restaurant downstairs the guy yelled no outside food. I explained i just paid for food from downstairs and a drink from upstairs and both men behind the counter stared at me as if I was a nuisance... ok weird. Then the guy proceeded to explain to me that I could sit outside if I wanted to eat.... fine no problem. I wont eat my food that i bought from this restaurant... I will not be spending my money here again to be treated this poorly as if I hadnt just supported their business. This place has been a miss for me for takeout three times in a row now. Wanted to give it some more time before I left this review. Used to really like this spot. My $18 kimchi jjigae had 0 pieces of meat and one piece of tofu in it :') they also have the kkochi rice cake skewers on their seamless menu and i have eaten them from here before in the past- but the last two times ive ordered it they say they don't have it so they should probably remove it from their menu. The tteokbokki i've had from them in the past is fine, a bit too mushy. Overall lacking, I'd go for Kuun instead. read more
