I've been to this tasty burger a few times and am shocked it is only three stars. In my opinion this is the best burgers in the area. Maybe even best in Boston. I definitely rate it above shake shack because one it is more filling and two it is not as greasy. I've been on a mission to try all their different burgers and today I tried their hubba burger which is chili, cheese and scallions. Unfortunately this one I would not recommend. I think the cheese whiz they use takes away from the burger. From my experience their trademark big tasty burger is still by far my favorite. If you come here for the first time that is the burger you should get. I've also tried all of their sides. The tots are very crispy and good, but halfway through I typically get tired of them. The fries are on the skinnier side but are well made and are probably my favorite out of the sides. The last is the onion rings. For a nice change of pace I would definitely recommend the onion rings. They come out fried but are skinnier and aren't what you would normally think of when you say onion rings. It was late at night around midnight and the only thing open was Tasty Burger. So I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Rise n Shine Burger and onion rings. First, I received my order and right before I went to eat it, the worker goes sorry that's not yours. So I had to wait for my food, but at this point I should of received a free meal. I waited a long time before I finally received my food and they gave the other person who was waiting a free pie, but I didn't get anything. The burger had decent flavor, but it was a bit cold and the bun was a bit soggy. The egg was cooked perfectly and the bacon was cooked right, but the burger was nothing special. The food here is fairly priced compared to shake shack, yet the service could be improved by shortening waiting time and making the food pick up process more organized - for example, set up a tv to show customers when will their orders be ready, instead of having everyone stand in front of the counter waiting for the employees to shout out their names. This patron was clearly on their radar as he was behaving rather oddly. When the polite customer next to said patron asked for clarity in one of his rants this patron went ballistic. Before things went too far, in what may have become a violent episode, the staff intervened and got this malicious patron out the door without any real damage. They then comped the civil patrons meal & thanked him for his calm understanding. As grim as this world seems, there are still good people doing good works. We come to Back Bay Boston about once a month to volunteer and we are constantly looking for fast, delicious food options in the area. This is a pretty good bet, and we've been here a few times. My go to is The Tasty Burger which comes with special sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle for $5.95 and my husband gets the Bacon Cheeseburger which comes with cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato for the same price. These burgers are definitely on another level from fast food places, but not the best burger out there. I do find these burgers better than Shake Shack's, but it's very close! You seat yourself and it's first come first serve. There are clean bathrooms in the establishment. There is a small bar, that will serve you (we haven't tried this yet). It is attached to Back Bay station which can be great for people watching if you enjoy that sort of thing. While I don't think these are close to the best burgers in Boston, it is reasonable priced, good quality food in a timely manner (5-8 minute wait). A great option if taking the commuter rail or T and comes in handy when it's too cold out to walk around! read more

This spacious Tasty Burger is conveniently located just outside of Back Bay Station. I ordered large fries with cheese sauce and had it to-go. The fries are reasonably priced, but the cheese sauce was an addtional $2, which I found to be a little pricy only because it came in a small dipping container- and it was separate from the fries, too. I actually expected the fries to be drenched in the sauce already, but I didn't mind it. The fries were the right texture and consistency, though they're a little too salty! The amount of fries given was great in terms of its price so I was quite pleased! As for the cheese sauce, it just wasn't what I expected. It had a thick consistency that didn't really taste like actual cheese (it just wasn't apparent and was combined with some other flavors or something?) and it was quite strange to me. As you can see in the photo I posted, I paid for a salad, and not only did they neglect to include the hummus that I paid an extra $1.00 for, they didn't even give me the salad dressing that was included in the original price. This salad was roughly $11.00 (build-your-own salad + hummus + chicken + tax), plus the $2.00 tip that the cashier happily accepted (I asked whether they had a tip jar, and the cashier replied that they don't, but that I should just hand it directly to her), and when I opened the bag back in my hotel, I had to eat the salad dry. I work hard for my money, and while I'm happy to tip for good service, I truly hate being taken advantage of in this way. I don't think it's too much to ask to receive what I've not only ordered, but paid extra for. I tried to call the restaurant directly to address this problem, but they had apparently closed while I was on my walk back. In comparison to its Fenway location: - Fewer seats - Smaller menu - No true table service - No pool table - Same affordable deliciousness!! The staff is incredibly friendly and while they don't offer a true table service, the staff visited each table and offered to help clear away trays and/or trash. There are two entrances - one from Dartmouth Street and one from inside Back Bay station - and depending on which side you enter from, orientation around the restaurant can be a bit confusing. If you enter from Back Bay Station, it's not made clear that ordering from the cashiers immediately in front of you will not get your order brought to your table - you have to order from the bar for that. However, if you enter in from Dartmouth Street, there's plenty of signage to help orient customers. Despite the smaller menu, the food holds true to that Tasty goodness we all know and love.
