The pork buns must be from and just thrown into the microwave, I have never tasted such disgusting pork buns! I came here for the 1st time with fellow elite Michelle L. after grabbing soft serve at SomiSomi in the same shopping center. We ordered Shrimp & Pork Xiao Long Bao which are the shrimp and pork soup dumplings. We also ordered the shrimp fried rice. The order of dumplings come with 8 of them and they were tasty. The broth inside each of them was flavourful and it was great that each had a whole shrimp. The shrimp fried rice was tasty as well and we finished all of it just like the shrimp and pork dumplings. The service was relatively quick and great as well. If you want a soda they offer bottled sodas and not fountain drinks. But, if you want iced water they'll provide it for you in a to go cup. Hopefully we'll be back to try other things here next time. read more

The sauce ran off the wontons and the wontons themselves tasted bland. Disappointing for a place with "dumpling" in its name. The hot and sour soup was good. Not in the traditional style thay you would see at Chinese restaurants, but the flavors were there. The beef noodle soup was good. I liked the flavors of the soup and the texture of the meat. I had a chance to try the shrimp and pork XLB dumplings, scallion pancake, and beef noodle soup, and was so impressed I had to up my rating to 5 stars. The scallion pancake was probably best I've had locally. What made it great was the right amount of crunch, the rich onion flavor, and the tender inside with the right amount of fat content to make it lush. The shrimp/pork XLB surprised me in that it had a whole shrimp embedded in it, with the tail sticking out of the top. I had expected chopped bits of shrimp inside instead so it was a pleasant upside. The beef noodle soup had loads of beef flavor in the soup and the beef brisket was tender and had the right fat content. The noodles were the right firmness for this type of dish, and had good flavor. Service has improved and they really do a lot for a fast food place. The only downside is this place is going to be packed once the masses discover it. But it would be a culinary crime to not share the discovery! Pro tip: make sure you dine in, and don't get take-out, since this type of food is meant to be enjoyed piping hot right out of the steamer! read more

Tasty Dumpling is tasty for sure! I came with a large party and was able to try a variety of items on their menu. We came here on a Sunday evening and were able to get seated quickly after we ordered. While there were several other seated parties, it didn't take long for our food to be served. I'd say our favorites were the Pan Fried Juicy Pork Bun and the Pork Xiao Long Bao. They came out nice, hot, and delicious! The only item we were pretty disappointed with was the Beef Rolls, which didn't have much great texture/flavor. The other items we ordered were decent, but not amazing. I came here for their soft opening. The service was mediocre. Typical enter, greeted hello, and then order at the register. My sister and I didn't know that you can grab the menu paper and mark your order there. (Since it was our first time coming) Anyway, we ordered a good amount of menu items. I think my favorite by far was the soup dumpling aka xiao long bao. However, 3 stars because one of dumplings had hair on it. I asked the waitress for accommodations. She responded with "what do you want me to do about it?" For which, I responded "may I speak to your manager please". The manager came and I asked if the kitchen could redo 1 dumpling for me. I am a dumpling and dim sum, lover for decades, and I have tasted the best. I was so happy when tasty dumpling opened near me on fair Oaks Boulevard, and I finally got over there today. On the good side, you can order a combination dumpling and are not forced to get eight of the same kind if you are eating by yourself. unfortunately, both my chicken/corn dumpling and my shrimp dumplings had problems. The dough is so thick that it overwhelms the filling. But mostly, the dumplings were so salty that hours later I still cannot get enough to drink. I paid over $17 for eight dumplings! A welcome addition to the Sacramento area. This is northern Chinese cuisine which is different than the popular Cantonese cuisine. I really like the fast casual concept, no awkward bill splitting with co workers or cheap friends. The food is also very delicious. I'm not a big fan of Shiao Long bao, but I really enjoyed the ones here. My favorite dish is the Xian spicy cold noodles, the flavor reminds me of my travel days in China. Service is also very good. Friends recommended we try this place and they were not wrong. We really enjoyed our food with one small exception... The xiao long bao (both pork and shrimp and pork varieties) were excellent. The wrapper is tender but strong enough to pick up with chopsticks without it breaking open. The filling and broth in bot dumplings is super tasty. The shrimp and pork was the winner though. The juicy pork buns were also really good with a nice crispy bottom and flavorful filling. Definitely would order these again. The wontons in chili sauce were one of my favorites, with a nice tender wrapper in a very flavorful sauce. Another repeatable dish for sure. The green beans? Holy crap these are awesome. Perfectly cooked with delicious seasoning. I could eat these all day long. Now the one disappointment - the beef noodle soup. The meat, vegetables and noodles are cooked very well and have a great consistency. The broth on the other hand was flat and under seasoned. Adding some of the spicy sauce from the wontons helped a lot but I probably wouldn't order the dish again. We're already planning another visit to try the scallion pancake and the beef roll, plus a bunch of other stuff on the menu. read more

I tried Tasty Dumpling as a carry out customer. I do not intend to come back. I looked over the menu and, though everything looked a bit pricy, I figured it was worth a try and ordered 8 pork and shrimp dumplings and a scallion pancake, which came to a total of $20.55. I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. After 20 minutes I asked how much longer it would be and they said two minutes. It ended up taking 30 minutes for my food to be ready. I counted nine people working in the kitchen, so they definitely weren't understaffed. A couple who came in five minutes after me got their food after 10 minutes; the only dine in table was just leaving when I arrived, and it looked like they were preparing about four food delivery app to go orders so it's not like this was dinner rush. The dumplings, true to the name, were tasty. They definitely smelled like fresh dough and I could taste the distinct flavors of fresh ingredients, not that mince with homogeneous flavor like frozen dumplings. They are the only reason I gave a second star. The scallion pancakes tasted like raw flour. The layers inside were not separated, just gummy and soggy with oil. I know from making these myself that the pan and oil must have been too cold, which keeps steam from forming inside the pancake's layers and causes it to soak up too much oil before it is fully cooked. I only ate two slices of it but couldn't stomach the rest. read more

This place was clean, welcoming, and straight forward. We ordered a variety of dumplings, a broccoli side dish, and Thai Ice teas. All the food was absolutely fantastic and was served piping hot! Each dumpling had its own unique flavor, the broccoli dish was cooked to perfection ... not over cooked and mushy but yet not too crunchy and raw. Now although the broccoli was delicious, we were expecting actual Chinese broccoli so that was a bit disappointing. The only thing I probably would not order again, would be the Thai iced teas.
