The food all basically tasted the same nothing exciting about it. Service was pretty good I have nothing to complain about. Ambiance the place has a very small seating section so not really worth going and waiting if you have to wait. The thing I hated the most is that they had no good menu because there was no pictures or sizing on foods aside from the pcs of dumplings/potstickers, I had no idea the soup was a 600+ lbs life sizing it was too much and barely had noodles. They need to add sizes or pictures so people know what they're buying. Very disappointing visit not worth the $85.52 IMHO. Unfortunately won't be going back. read more

It was by 80 something I decided to check the progress of my food. My last dish they were waiting on had been sitting on the counter for who knows how long. I think like 15 mins plus? Before they give me my food I check the temps of the containers of dumplings and the bottom 2 are already cold. The mid 2 are getting there. I tell the cashier my food is cold and he says I'm so sorry. I tell him that it sat there for 40 minutes and he says I'm so sorry. I'm home now and my pan fried dumplings are obviously no longer "pan fried". The rest of my dumplings are either cold dry and brittle or a soggy mess of dumplin skin. Hate that I tipped for this. They have a bunch of 4 top tables along one wall. I think there's one larger table in the back, that maybe fits like 6-ish so people. We got the XLB, pan fried juicy pork bun, the stir fired Xi'an noodles, and the stir fried green beans. It was plenty of food for the four of us. I think we had half the noodles left and we brought those home for lunch the next day. The XLB;s were solid - very juicy and the wrapping was thin and delicate. I really liked the shen jian bao (pan fried pork buns) - crispy and good bao to pork to soup ratio. Gotto eat these quickly so the soup doesn't get absorbed. There were 8 XLBs per order and 6 pan fried juicy pork buns on the plate. The green beans were cooked al dente and with a lot of crispy minced garlic. Mmmm, tasty and healthy. The noodles were alright. I think I expected more as this is the place to get Xi'an food. But it seemed very plan, just the wide rice noodles, egg, bean sprout, carrions and green onions. Just went here with a group of friends. The customer service was decent. All of our food came out within 10 minutes which was nice. We ordered XLB, egg fried rice, stir fried broccoli, Xi'an cold noodles, pork and veggie dumplings, and the beef roll. Our favorite was the xlbs! The soup inside had great flavor. On the tables they have soy sauce, hot oil, and vinegar for you to make your dipping sauce. Our least favorite was the beef roll. We probably wouldn't order it again. There are a lot of wontons in there and I was surprised by the little tiny shrimp. The broth is very tasty. Tasty Dumpling is the most expensive take out dumpling spot in town so I don't visit that often. They do not sell dumplings individually or in groups of three or four pieces like traditional dim sum. Tasty Dumpling sells their dumplings by the dozen which is great if you're ordering for a group but limiting if ordering for one. For me, the dumplings that set Tasty Dumpling apart from the rest are the XLB soup dumplings. These are a treat and often not found at other dumpling establishments. Another stand out are the beef dumplings which are superb. They also serve veggie dumplings in a green dough which are a special treat too. If while browsing the menu at Tasty Dumpling and you think a cheese dumpling sounds interesting, don't do it. They are just your basic deep fried won tons that are usually stuffed with cream cheese and crab but without the crab. The dumplings here have thick dough which can fill you up. Unfortunately the thick dough dries out so leftover dumplings can get a little tough. read more

I can't say that they hype lives up to what everyone is bragging about. I have had better dumplings and dim sum at many other places in Sacramento. It's very true that dumplings/dim sum is really only good when it's freshly served at the restaurant. The dumplings here are a bit on the salty side. The popcorn chicken was good, had a great crunch but we're not very good the next day as left overs. One of my favorite items would have to be the beef roll. It's soft outer pancake was nice and soft with the fillings tasting super fresh: cucumber, cilantro and slices of beef (order this). The shrimp fried rice was salty. Ordered the Pork Wonton Soup and no where on the menu did it specify that is had any shrimp.. which I'm allergic to.. I did not notice it at first because its tiny in the broth, but I had to stop eating it and it led to me throwing up at work. This could have gone so much worse if I had kept eating. Not such a big fan of dumplings but when I eat them I like gyoza. The beef gyoza were pretty tasty and fresh. Bursting with a lot of flavor. When we asked management for more shrimp; seeing as this is $4 more then normal fried rice, management laughed it off and said that's how it's made. Don't let the generic name or it's placement in the Crocker strip mall fool you. This place has some pretty decent stuff here. The food travels pretty well whether you are picking up or getting it delivered. The xiao long bao here is pretty good, as is the Chinese roll (it's no Yangs (rip) but it's good). The hot and sour soup is real decent but not always consistent. The dumplings are consistent and typically tasty as the name suggests. If you are in this area, I'd suggest you give this place a try. read more

Two little sauce containers were included, of which I used only the soy sauce. I didn't bother to heat them up, since it was such a hot day anyway. Dumplings a-ok, tasty. This is our new favorite XLB spot in Sac! You go in, order at the counter, they give you a number, you sit down, and then they bring you your food which is fresh and hot. The shrimp fried rice was delicious. Shrimp was perfectly cooked. I hate it when it's over cooked and tastes rubbery; that was not the case here. They have 3 different XLB to choose from: Original Pork XLB, Spicy Pork XLB, and Shrimp & pork XLB which were all delicious and full of flavor. The shrimp in the shrimp & pork XLB was perfectly cooked as well (not rubbery either). All the sauce was available on the table. Unfortunately, they don't automatically give you ginger or water, but when asked, they promptly bring it. The staff was attentive and came and got each of our bamboo steamed plates as soon as we finished with it as not to pile up on our table. Wow! Amazing food. Great and fast service. I tried this place on my lunch break since I've been hearing a lot of people talk about it. Did not disappoint one bit. I'm actually obsessed now.
