    Ribs garlic sauce

So grateful to my friend for introducing me to this spot. They regularly come here for delicious, affordable, and authentic Cantonese food. Recently came to celebrate Lunar New Year and everything we got was absolutely delicious and we all had left overs to enjoy the next day. We ordered the west lake beef soup, ribs garlic sauce, duck chow mein, beef string bean, and fried sesame seed balls. The soup was light and flavorful, the ribs were juicy and had perfectly crispy skin, the string beans were fresh, the chow mein was not overly greasy, and the sesame balls we're super hot and tasty. The staff were also super nice and helpful. Will definitely come back.

A great pit stop on our road trip to Lassen National Park (before we entered areas that would have less good food) I ordered the roast duck fried rice (bc that's an unusual menu item), while my friends ordered a combo fried rice (beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp), and a veggie chow mein. Everything was delicious but we wanted it a bit spicier so the owner provided us with a bowl of homemade chili crisp which was top notch. The portions were extremely generous and our eyes were bigger than our stomach so we took most of the serving of sesame tofu for road trip snacks later. The tofu was that perfect airy-but-chewy texture that you can only get from professionally made tofu. I didn't love the sauce (can't put my finger on it) but my friends raved about it. The owner also gave us extra fortune cookies to go after we accidentally dropped one of ours on the ground Logistics: - indoor seating only - plenty of strip mall parking outside

Driving back from Reno to the Bay Area on I80 and we were hungry for Dim Sum and homestyle Cantonese food. We saw Tasty Gourmet listing both options and decided to take a meal break. TG is located on the back side of a strip mall and has plenty of free parking. The restaurant is not flashy, has a number of tables for dining in, and appears to do plenty of takeout. Their Dim Sum choices are limited but cover the basics. The four of us ordered for lunch: - Shiu Mai (steamed pork and shrimp dumplings, 4 to an order) - Har Guow (steamed shrimp dumplings, 4 to an order) - Roast Duck Fried Rice (not many places have this) - Tomato Beef Gheen Mien (special order off menu as we noticed they had TB Chow Fun and Seafood Gheen Mien and figured they could produce the TB GM which they did with no problem). Most Cantonese restaurants with competent chefs can interchange with no problems. Probably could have added curry to the TB GM to make TCB GM... if you can decipher, then you're a bonafide Cantonese food eater. LOL. - Sesame Balls (6 fried sesame balls for dessert, filled with red bean paste) All the food came out hot and very tasty. We ate it all up! Service from Rebecca was very hospitable and welcoming. She's a very good host and an overall nice person. A good stop for us and we'll be back in September.

This location is a hidden gem in the outskirts of Davis, not your typical location in downtown or in south Davis but the food and service speaks for itself. We ordered the following: Fried Wings 6/10 - Was expecting additional seasonings but it is literally just fried wings Fried Squid (calamari) 8/10 - Seasoned well and comes with Jalepenos, nice texture and good General Chicken 9.5/10 - Sweet and Spicy, fried perfectly and very delicious, would come again just for this dish Combo Fried Pan Noodle 8/10 - Comes with seafood and noodles, I enjoyed the variety of different seafood options on this dish We ate this at the restaurant and the service was amazing, they had one person running the whole front operation from cashier to answering phone orders, and serving customers. Would totally come again, the portions are amazing for the price.

We stumbled in here for dinner after being nearby in Davis to take care of some business. Looked on Yelp and this restaurant had good ratings, so we decided to give it a try. Didn't disappoint as both the food and service were great. Luckily, we went early, so there was no wait. We started off with the Wonton in Chili Oil. These were really good - similar to a dish we get in Roseville at Uncle Dumpling. For dinner, we had the Cashew Chicken, Duck Fried Rice, and Beef Chow Fun. All very good. Our two servers were very friendly and food came out quickly. Definitely would eat here again when in Davis.

I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal. The food is always delicious and reminds me of my dad's cooking, no matter what I get. This is THE spot to go if you're broke too - I have never had less than 3 meals out of the leftovers from this place before. Service is always good. It's a family run place so the wait staff tend to recognize their regulars and go above and beyond to ensure you have a good time. It's a bit on the bare side inside but they let the food speak for itself.

It was my first time here and i was pleasantly surprised with the quality and freshness of the dishes. The seafood noodles were so crispy and the flavor was not too salty. The steamed bbq baos were fluffy, soft and had a delicious bbq filling. The pan fried dumplings were also pretty solid, with a nice crispy exterior and flavorful beef filling. The service was fast and friendly, and we got our food really fast. The ambiance was filled with families and a clean interior which made it comfortable to dine in. I'd come again to try more items!

    Why no delivery services?

Delivery services take a large cut of the sale. Up to 1/3 of the ticket. Call in your order and pickup. Easy parking right up front and the people that operate Tasty Gourmet are fantastic.

Is this placed owned by the same owners as Four Seasons Gourmet (the one attached to the gas station)? If yes, do the owners own both this location and the old location? Or did they sell off the old place?

The owner of Tasty Gourmet used to work at Four Seasons, but then retired a few years ago. Apparently she got bored at home, so she decided to open up her own restaurant!

One here at least a handful of times per year. Their food is generally good and their portion size is large. This summer they are running a special (10% off your bill, plus additional 5% if paid in cash). For a Saturday evening, they did not have many diners, two other larger groups, a couple smaller tables of patrons and a couple few takeout orders. The main reason for coming here is for their Dim Sum items, but some items are not available after 2pm. They have a pretty extensive menu for non-dim sum items. Most of their food is pretty good including the dim sum items. Portion size is large, so there is usually leftovers to take home. Today, the service is lacking quite a bit. Had to wave down the server many times during our meal, to order, ask a couple times for water and missing napkins, water refill, didn't check if we needed more hot tea, boxes for left overs, getting the bill, etc. Another ding for them is that we were given and billed for 2 items (chicken buns and steamed long beans) that we Did Not Order. I didn't not complain about it because we were fine eating the extra food, but that was annoying! Overall dining experience was 3/5 stars. Food was a solid 4/5 stars. Service was 2.5/5 stars. There are so many Chinese food options now in Davis. Not sure what's up with the service, but they really need to step that up if they expect customers to keep coming back.

Siu Mai: This was classic & well-executed, and there was a strong mushroom taste which I loved. Shrimp Dumplings: These were also classic, flavorful, and fresh. Jelly Fish & Sliced Beef Tendon: I loved the texture and spiciness of the general dish, and they were seasoned well. Beef Noodle Rolls: These were okay in my opinion, but silky and tender. Pan-Fried Turnip Cake: I loved the crisp outside, and it was soft on the inside. It did not feel too heavy and better than other places I've tried. Green Beans: These were slightly oily, but the portion size was generous for the price. Preserved Egg & Pork Congee: The congee was okay, but it was comforting and smooth and still had a good flavor.

This review is mostly about about service, or the lack of it. We have been here a handful of times…read morewith a group of 10 to 15, hoping each time that the level of service would improve. Here is what's going on. This latest visit was serviced by Zoran, but previous visits have suffered the same problems. An inordinate amount of time is required to provide everyone with a drink, even though many of our group order only water. The order taking is somewhat chaotic, although it appears that the server is making relevant notes about who orders what and who is together. Then the waiting begins. A few of the smaller items (soup, salad) emerge from the kitchen in maybe 30 minutes, the entrees don't start appearing before we have been seated for more than an hour, often longer. And this was a Wednesday afternoon--we arrived before 5:00 pm--when the restaurant was not near full and we had made a reservation the previous day. The food is generally good, if rather lightly seasoned. But I can recall no inquiries from the server about beverage refills; our requests for this require, again, an inordinate amount of time to fulfill. More than once our server made the trip from the kitchen to our table carrying only a single item, then back again, apparently, for another item that sometimes doesn't appear. When it's obvious that everyone is virtually finished with their food, the only way for us to receive our bills was to flag sown our server who finally appears with several slips of paper and absolutely no idea of who has ordered what, in spite of apparently making notes during the ordering process and delivering the majority of the dishes to our table himself. We finally all received our bills, but about half of our group failed to receive the traditional fortune cookie at all. Here's the thing: this pattern over several visits of the lack of server attention and skill is should be directly laid at the feet of management. Every server has to start somewhere, but the success and future of the restaurant largely depends on the work of the servers; poor service taints an otherwise good experience, even if the food is perfect. Not to mention the fact that servers are the sales people for potential extra revenue, e.g., upscale beverages, deserts, etc. We are reconsidering whether to return here as a group in the future, but over two hours for a meal seems excessive.

Great spicy food and friendly staff. Food (10/10) - The food here is AMAZING! Perfect balance of spice to flavor and every single bite is electric. The sichuan numbing pepper in the Chongqing soup was DELICIOUS. Mix it with some of the white rice and you have a dish all by iteself. The chicken itself had a nice chew and was very fragrant. Loved the texture and flaovr of the vermicelli; nice bounce to the noodles while soaking in all the spicy soup. My one complaint would be that they have soft bones (sign of long boiling time) so be careful of that! Also got the spicy stir-fried pork kidney... don't diss it 'til you try it. Super good, with that nice bit of chew. Take a bite of pepper, kidney, and white rice and BOOM! Perfect bite. **Recommendation: Rice is a key component for the dishes here. Without rice, everything will be too spicy, too savory, and overall too overwhelming. The rice is the thing that helps tie everything together (as it frequently is) Service (8/10) - Good service; nothing notable. Nice people and I think most of them speak Mandarin. Service and seating was also fast. Order of things to come out of the kitchen was a bit strange: soup for the chicken, rice, stir-fry, chicken. Honestly, not that big of a problem but just decided to comment. Price (8/10) - The price here is a bit on the pricier side; $54 for 2 but there were some leftovers (had to make my own rice though). Some of the dishes are more worth than others. The Chonqing chicken was $25 but you got a large bowl of chicken with soup and vermicelli. On the other hand, the stir-fry for $20 was notably padded with vegetables and I would say a majority of the dish was not the kidney. At the very least, the taste of the food compensates. However, this place is likely not a college go-to. Overall, great restaurant that I will be coming back to again (maybe with my parents LOL) or at the very least, would come with a large group as it is more fitting for family style. Highly recommend!
