I honestly don't know why this place gets such high reviews. The drinks were warm, the egg rolls were cold, and the meat was all fat. Oh and they were out of bean sprouts from the to go orders. The meat was yellow, white and brown, the broth was flavorless. AND THEY MADE US PAY FOR ALL OF IT, despite not liking it. We just went there last week. Usually we are not super keen on Vietnamese food since we are very picky about vegetables. Even though I'm not an expert on Vietnamese food, I can tell it was very good. The spring rolls that came with my dish were very crunchy and not greasy at all. The chicken had a great flavor and the portions were generous. I didn't much care for the noodle vermicelli but I think that's how they taste normally. I think I will take the rice next time. Of course, we couldn't miss the Tea with the "Boba" ( not sure how it is spelled). That's a must for us and this is a place that charges the least for that in this area , having seen as much as $4 in other restaurants.... It's a small place and I wasn't sure what to expect but when we entered and there were mostly Vietnamese people sitting and eating in there, I take that as a very good sign that the food is authentic. I'm a big fan of pho joints and was really excited when I saw that this one had opened up so close to my house. I finally went in today to get a banh mi sandwich and was very pleased. It's a small place but clean and cozy. The sandwich was great and it was an excellent value for $3. Like the other reviewer said they also gave me a thai tea and egg roll for free as I waited. It probably wont be that way forever but I'll definitely take it for now! I'll be back soon to try out the pho. read more

Craving a hot bowl of Pho or Ramen I finally ventured down the road to Tasty Pho. Set in a strip mall in Vista this is definitely an unexpected hole in the wall, but with 4.5 yelp stars I imagined it would be a worthwhile trip. The vegetarian pho was everything I'd been wishing for. $7.50 got me a large bowl with perfectly cooked veggies, flavorful broth, tender noodles, and a plate with basil lime and bean sprouts to add in. If I had wanted for flavor there was a nice tray of condiments to spice it up, but I enjoyed it without any additions. The place had all the quirkiness of an authentic hole in the wall...friendly guy (owner?) served and seemed not to speak a ton of English. The TV was on a Vietnamese channel which showed a bunch of people getting pranked which he kept coming out to watch but he politely asked if it was too loud. No frills seat yourself and pay at the counter that more than lives up to its name- delicious pho! read more

This has been my new go to pho place. The broth is very good and it always seems fresh. The decor is typical of a pho restaurant, nothing special but for a 7$ bowl of soup I don't really mind it. After spending months driving to Mira Mesa for pho I found a great place in North County. Pho, and the sandwiches are both fantastic. My Daughter says its the best broth that I didnt make myself. Wasn't impressed at all. We only came here because Yummy Pho is closed on Mondays. We won't be coming back. Their to go containers suck, the broth spilled everywhere, they didn't include any of the sauces that go with it and they just used the regular beef broth for my shrimp pho. I usually go to pho lucky but I was passing by on my way home, I ordered at 6:55pm and waited and waited and waited... three people walked in and out with their food, at this point I was getting pissed, I Finally asked for my money back it was 7:35 pm at this point ... the guy responded with we are short staffed in the kitchen. . Love this place! I was the only one there when I visited. So I was greeted and served quickly. I ordered the well done steak pho, which was amazing :) prices were relatively inexpensive, especially comparing to other viet restaurants. Big screen TV with a movie playing. This place is delicious! We absolutely love the Vermicelli with Char broiled shrimp, BBQ chicken, or BBQ pork! They are all wonderful and some of them come with egg rolls which are fabulous too! We also love the Pho with jumbo shrimp, rare steak, meatballs, or even the seafood Pho. The rice entrees are also really good. My kids love the chicken with rice, the chicken is cooked and seasoned perfectly! This is a new favorite place for us! However, there service is a little slow, especially when ordering to go. If they say 20 minutes you might want to wait like 30 to get there. But.....their food is always fresh and they never mess up on our to-go orders. :) read more

A very welcome addition to Vista. My wife and I went here for lunch on a Saturday and liked it so much we went again for dinner on Sunday. We've been back several times since and everything we've tried so far has been great. I've ordered various pho dishes and my wife has tried a few of the rice vermicelli and rice entree options. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. What really won us over is the fact that it's a family-run business in the truest sense of the word. It almost feels as if the family has invited you into their home and is preparing a meal for you. What a pleasant surprise this place was! At first I was a little iffy about coming here. I had a huge craving for pho, but I did not want to risk being disappointed. The other option would have been our usual pho spot in the area, Pho-Ever, but now it looks like we're going to have to split our time between both. The beef stew here is phenomenal and absolutely perfect for a cold cozy soup weather kinda night. It was served piping hot and spicy just how I like it, and stayed piping hot longer than usual! We weren't sure about the place when we walked in... it was empty and the older guy behind the counter wanted to take our order from where he sat. Strange but he was nice. We ordered the pho & a bahn mi bo. The pho is worth coming back for even if there's no service! I got the beef Bahn Mi to go. The beef was basically MIA, although the small chunks of beef that were in the sandwich had a good BBQ flavor. Neither mine or my friends had jalapeños... Which is usually a staple for me! The bread tasted alright but there was just not enough filling for my small roll. The egg rolls were a bit mushy and not at all what I would expect from a good Vietnamese restaurant. The price is a good selling point, $5.37 for the bahn mi, two egg rolls and a canned soda. The pho here is so delicious. I am admit that I am a bit of a pho snob, so when I was presented with a steaming how bowl of veggie pho with SUPER FRESH vegetables that weren't your typical big carrot slices and mushrooms, I was very impressed. The veggie pho has a couple different varieties of mushroom (I think trumpet?), bok choi, broccoli and steamed tofu. Wanted some tasty feel good soup for a chilly night with a sick hubby & yelp directed me to Tasty Pho. I was surprised to find an empty restaurant, but it is a Monday night and it sure smelled good inside. The gentleman who took my order made a few suggestions and got my order under way with the cook quickly. It did take a little while to get my order for take out - but that is because it was made fresh to order. We tried the rice noodle chicken broth with chicken pieces & the beef broth with meatballs. Both came with a box full of noodles, onions & cilantro. There was also a large bag of fresh basil, jalapeños, limes, bean sprouts and several delicious sauces to chose from.
