Really liked that they customize dishes- I ordered a lemongrass tofu dish with rice. It was delicious!!! Hadn't seen it made in this way before. Updating my review as I've given this place a second try and believe they've made a conscious effort to improve. They are giving more care and attention to the dining area. The tables are cleared and each has a full condiment station (including full size hand sanitizer off to the side). The paperwork clutter that used to be at the front counter has been cleared away, and there are rarely employees using the dining room as their break room, making it more inviting to customers. They also prop the front door when they're open, which allows for a strong fresh breeze to come in. I've noticed they are better at acknowledging customers when they walk in, and they have newly printed in-house and to-go menus. The food is also pretty good - I've tried their tofu spring rolls, standard egg rolls, BBQ pork ban minh, and chicken stir fry all of which was freshly prepared and delicious. If I could "level up" two things about this place still, it would be to please add music in the dining area to increase the welcoming atmosphere - I have never dined in because of this (it's just super awkward). Secondly, I would suggest making sure that the website menu is correct and updated to match their paper menus in the restaurant (for instance, there is a whole section that says "Vegetarian Items" but then lists dishes with meats on the website). All that to say, I am glad I gave this place another go. The owners are kind and I wish them the best. read more

This is the best place in Vista to get pho! My husband and I love trying different pho places in the area but nothing beats Tasty Pho! We come here at least once a week to eat. The owner of the restaurant is so kind and very helpful. He remembers us and always asks about our daughter. He has helped me carry our orders out to the car and has even offered to hold our daughter while we are eating. Very sweet man! My favorite pho to get is the shrimp pho and my husbands is the slice of rare steak and well done brisket pho. The egg rolls are also super delicious and we always get them. read more

1st time trying Tasty pho. Ordered the chicken pho, was surprised that it came with plain chicken broth. I order chicken pho most of the time and have always gotten the flavorful pho broth at other places, I definitely missed it, other than that it was ok. Shrimp spring rolls were good but I did not like the sauce at all, watery and confused like 2 sauces mixed together, unlike any peanut sauce I have ever tasted. Yuck..... I ordered the house special for here they had me pay upfront with a tip but the service was also crappie. They brought my Phó in a plastic bowl 1 or 2 condiments flavorless. WHAT/WHEN: Stopped by during the lunch hour on Friday, 9 Jul 21. Ordered the shrimp spring rolls ($4.10 tax incl) and the "well done steak" pho ($9.52 tax incl). With a $2.00 tip the total was $15.62. BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I'd return but am in no rush to do so. THOUGHTS: Service was good and order came quickly. Portions were also good/generous, particularly the surprisingly tender and tasty beef in the pho. However, I was disappointed in the all important broth which was shockingly "thin" in taste which belied the robust looking appearance. Accompanying veggies were not super fresh but they were adequate. The noodles were cooked just about right. The shrimp spring rolls were "okay" nothing special but the peanut sauce was a very disappointing watery colloidal suspension pretty much devoid of taste. CAVEAT: By all appearances, this is a "mom 'n pop" venture; so, given that I always given any/all benefit of the doubt to all brave entrepreneurs, I'll give 'Tasty Pho' another visit at another time...perhaps when the colder months are upon us. POST SCRIPT: While I was seated at a booth eating, I noticed more than a few customers came in to pick-up their call-in orders. I also listened as the proprietor repeated their orders as he handed them out. The vast majority appeared to have ordered the fried rice alone or included it with their order. Ever since a new owner took over this place, food quality and quantity have declined tremendously. Not only did the old owner have a better-tasting recipe, but they also had a fair amount of food. Whoever is the new owner and operating this place now obviously just wants to make money and doesn't care about their food or what their customers would think.
