Best Bakery in Boston! No matter how many times I come to Tatte, it never disappoints! I have yet to get something and not enjoy it. It's a definite Boston staple for me and I take all friends from out-of-town here for breakfast/lunch or pastries. My all time favorite item is their cheesecake! It's the perfect creamy cheesecake for any and all occasions. I had it as my birthday cake last year that's how much I love it! Other favorites include: summer shakshuka, egg in a hole in a Jerusalem bagel, ricotta and jam tartine, crunchy halloumi salad, and croissants! You honestly can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Quick and DELICIOUS!! I thought because tho was a kind of trendy chain place it would be expensive and overdone but this place is anything but. I ordered the spinach and goat cheese egg plate and a cold brew with oat milk. My boyfriend also got an egg plate, a muffin, and a coffee drink. Our total was only $30!! First stop of our day was this bakery. LOVED the look and aesthetic of the restaurant. It had a very northern European vibe on the outside with middle eastern details throughout which made the bakery stand out in my opinion. We bought a pistachio croissant, two sandwiches and my husband got a pistachio latte, our total was $35. This is a little too much money in my opinion, even for speciality pastries. That being said, the pistachio croissant was definitely the star of the order. Really good butter to pistachio ratio, wonderful size and taste. It didn't taste perfectly fresh, tasted like a day old, but still really delicious. My breakfast sandwich was a sausage/egg/tomato/cheese on challah bread. The sausage had Middle Eastern spices in it, which I really enjoyed, but the sandwich itself just seemed a bit generic. My husband's pita tasted really good, but was far too small for the price. He liked the latte flavor, but didn't like the chunks of pistachio or the mediocre latte art. I live down the street from this Tatte and it's my wallet's biggest burden but one of my favorite weekend delights! They do a great Caramel Latte but also they serve up amazing food which I think can be hard to find with a place that is strong on coffee. I've loved everything I've had from their bakery (croissants - cream cheese & chocolate, cheese danish). From texture to taste, I've enjoyed it all from Tatte! The Boy loved the Breakfast Sandwich and always opts for the over-easy runny egg to run over the bacon and to be sopped up by the sourdough bread. I had my first Croque Madame at Tatte and I actually let out a 'ohmygoddddsogood' groan out loud at first bite. The gruyere and ham combo is great and the Mornay sauce is to die for served on a perfectly fluffy croissant. My only issue with this Tatte is the layout of the store interior is not great for the high traffic the store receives. It's one-way traffic (yes, careful which door you walk in, one is really the exit/you will have to walk to the other side of the store to get in line) and getting to the end of the line (sometimes out the door) sometimes may require some tight (sometimes uncomfortable) squeezing by other people; if you're waiting for coffee, you'll be standing blocking the utensils counter behind you. **This review is during the COVID-19 guidelines for pick up. Food: 4/5 I ordered the Apricot Tart for pick up. It was perfectly sweet with a hint of tartness, and the filling-to-pie crust ratio was spot on. I would've given it 5/5 stars if it weren't for the hefty price (around $6 for a small slice) and if it was warmed up. But then again, the price really does reflect the high quality I can't wait to come back once indoor dining restrictions are lifted! Drinks: 3/5 I got an Iced Americano, which was decent but overpriced in my opinion. I'd probably only pay for their specialty drinks rather than something I can get at any other coffee shop. Service: 4.5/5 They're currently only open for outdoor dining and pickup. They were respectful of COVID-19 guidelines and I'm glad they had a strict system in place to only allow one person at a time into the cafe. Outside of COVID, the atmosphere is great for catching up with a friend or having brunch--I wouldn't come here to get work done because of the lack of outlets and wifi. tl;dr: Expect to break the bank for quality pastries and healthy, hearty brunch offerings. I opted for the Avocado tartan that was served with avocado, arugula, dill, radish and poached eggs on large pieces of sourdough bread. It was very large, filling and delicious. Super crowded on a Sunday morning, but we managed to snag a seat. The staff are friendly and the food came out quick. There aren't many vegan options for food (none for pastry), but the chickpea purée with pita (it's just fancy hummus) does not need alterations to be vegan. I thought it would be a lot of hummus for one meal, but surprisingly the dish did not get boring and I ate all of it. The pita is on the chewier dense side, but it paired well with the hummus which is on the lighter side. Super savory but with lots of herbs like mint and parsley for a bit of flavor variety and freshness in every bite. If I was going with a friend I'd order again, but wouldn't go out of my way to come. Hey, if you are a person of color BEWARE! The location at Washington St on Boston has a RACIST manager! I went to pick up my office catering order this afternoon. I had ordered and paid for it the day before and was quite pleased that it was ready on time. I showed the young lady who was handing out orders my receipt and gave her my name. She went and got my order and handed it to me. Two big shopping bags with the 12 lunch boxes that I had ordered. It was also the only order there on the catering table at the time. So, I'm heading out the door and a woman dressed in plain clothes comes running up to me, "Oh, I'm sorry, I need to check your order, we have a new employee..." This lady is trembling her voice shaking! I said sure..put the bags down and stood still. I can see that they were the lunchboxes that I ordered. A few seconds later I see two people running from one direction and another from another direction...one starts taking a lunch box off the top..then I said, " I AM THE PERSON WHO PLACED THE ORDER'...Twice. They backed off and the lady starts mumbling about a new employee and they had to check...SORRY, you can go! Wait...what? Five people need to check an order that has been handed to you while you are about to exit? We won't be doing business with you again!! If there's two things you need to know about Tatté, it's that their food is DELICIOUS, but their first-come, first-serve seating is severely limited. It's not uncommon to see someone hovering for your patio table or indoor bar stool, but don't let that intimidate you. You're paying top dollar for your food, so enjoy that patio seat. The ambience here is casual and the outdoor seating is lovely on a warm morning/afternoon. I've been coming here for years for the same thing-their short rib grilled cheese generously laden with beet labneh (a horseradish-like spread) on perfectly toasted challah bread. It always goes perfect with a soy hazelnut latté! If you have more of a sweet tooth, during breakfast time, their french toast is delectable, and a vision in whip cream. Hate to say it, but I was so disappointed in Tatte! I must have ordered the wrong thing for brunch because I did not enjoy the "pastry basket" or their mushroom sandwich toast. The pastry basket comes with 3.5 pastries that are pretty bland. The basket comes with jam but I just found the overall pastries to be so bland and unappetizing. I should have asked what types of pastries were in the basket because I thought it would be worth it (~$10) since most of their pastries are like $3+ each. So be warned, none of the pastries one sees in the display cases are actually in the basket T__T I would not recommend the pastry basket to anyone... The mushroom toast sandwich looked pretty good, but the mushrooms that they used for the dish was a tad overwhelming. Came here on a Saturday afternoon for some post lunch dessert. Tatte is probably my top favorite cafe here in Boston. I frequented their stores a lot back when I studied in Boston as their pastries and desserts are seriously the bomb diggity. I'm glad to see that it hasn't changed at all! I got their Seasonal Latte (Honey + Cardamom Latte) plus their Halva Bomb and Pistachio Croissant, which is arguably their signature pastry. I loved loved loved the Pistachio Croissant! The croissant itself is so wonderfully flaky and crispy and the pistachio filling was AMAZING! Not too sweet and the pistachio flavor really comes through. The filling itself wasn't too runny at all and overall gave a really nice mouthfeel to the entire pastry itself. I just wasn't too big of a fan of the Halva Bomb, hence the 4 star review. The chocolate mousse on the dish was sublime but damn that sesame halva (in the middle) was hellllaaaa sweet. I couldn't even taste the sesame due to how much sugar was in that sesame halva paste. I had to dig that part out and eat the rest of the dish without the paste. Otherwise, this dish would've been so good. Tatte is still my go to place for dessert and coffee though. Just some minor touch ups are needed but otherwise keep up the good work! read more

I was originally going to try the newly opened Fenway location, but I got there 30 mins after opening on a Sunday morning and it was already filled to the brim. I nixed that idea and headed to the smaller Brookline location, hoping that it would be less crowded as they open an hour later than the Fenway location, but it was still packed basically 15 mins after it opened. I squeezed into line, got an almond croissant and coffee and elbowed my way to a small bench spot. I had brought my laptop and was fortunate to get a spit near an outlet, so that was nice. However, their Wi-Fi is terrible. The almond croissant was great. Soft on the inside and crispy on the outside with a nice almond flavor. Very buttery. Coffee was okay. Overall, awesome bakery, just wish they had more space. Plan to be sardined into the place or go at an off hour if you're introverted and enjoy your personal space. read more

The smallest poached eggs that we've ever seen. Bread was good, but the whole thing was not worth the price. --cheese burkea: better than expected. Pretty close to what you'd find on the holyland mothership actually. --vanilla sugar donut (kid's choice): good! Just a well-made donut. No complaints. --pistachio croissant: meh. Liked the filling but there was barely any of it, so it was more just like a plain croissant. We've yet to have better than the one in Common Bond in Houston. --pistachio cherry tartlet: better but SO crumbly. Pistachio topping flew EVERYWHERE. There was something nagging at us that this place wasn't as good as it seemed though the potential was there for it to be extraordinary.
