Overall, this is a pretty good spot! My friend and I decided to come here on a Saturday.... Which surprisingly worked out for us somehow? The line was super long, but we were able to purchase everything fairly quickly. The food was served within about 10-15 minutes, which was told to us in advance. I think there was about 30 or so people in line. It was crowded, but plenty of options to try out. My friend got the Halloumi Cheese Sandwich and the iced mocha, and I got the croque madame and the black sesame iced latte. The staff members who served us were super nice and apologized for the wait, but it was honestly to be expected since we came on a weekend and this location has been open for only 2 weeks. The food was delicious and left us extremely satisfied. There was also a lot of seating inside and outside. Would I go again? Yes.... But I'd give it a few weeks or so for the excitement to die down. read more

We are very excited to have Tatte in our aria. We had coffee, which was disappointing, didn't taste right, but liked hot chocolate with almond milk. Desserts were very good, especially mini lemon torte. Visited Tatte Bakery in Reston today (insert date) and had an incredibly frustrating experience. My wife and I ordered only soup, received our order number, and waited patiently. After 25 minutes, my wife went to check on the status, only to be told, "They're working on it, please wait." After another 10 minutes, I was frustrated and went to check myself--only to find out they had given us the wrong table number, causing a 35-minute delay for a simple order. Instead of making things right, the supervisor (I believe) immediately canceled our order when I expressed my frustration. No apology, no effort to compensate for their mistake--just a cold, dismissive attitude. When I mentioned that I would leave a review, he shrugged and said he didn't care! My biggest pet peeve when looking for a French restaurant is when a place advertises itself as French and is NOT French at all. This restaurant is "nouveau American" with Indian and African fusions. There's not a drop of French in it, despite it using the word 'quiche' on the menu. The flavors are not French, the recipes are not French. The staff is not French, the ambiance is not French. In addition, the food was not good, regardless of if you have no preference for French cuisine. I arrived for a business lunch, ordered zucchini soup, Earl Grey tea, and dessert. I figured I couldn't go wrong asking for something so simple. I wasn't going to spend a lot of money on a place that bore no resemblance to French food, was overcrowded with screaming children (not crying, but screaming), and had no wait staff. (You order your food in line and serve yourself, delicatessen style) I waited in the long line, ordered my food, and went to wait outside at a table for my food because it was too loud inside to eat. They brought me tomato soup instead of zucchini, and they forgot to bring me my dessert. When I asked for it, they fought me. To their credit, they did get the tea right. The tomato soup was inedible, I took three bites and left the rest, and when I finally did get my dessert, it too was not worth eating. I do not recommend this place in the slightest. It's expensive, loud, not-as-advertised, not palatable, and a pain. I recommend La Madeleine or La Cote D'Or Cafe in Arlington. read more

We were so sad to learn that our favorite, Fire Hook Bakery, had closed. We thought we would give this bakery a try and purchased a variety of items. Clean, nice simple atmosphere, friendly staff, large selection, ample seating, decent coffee, pastry selection too. Place your order, take a number, and they bring your coffee to your table. Coffee foam has an artistic design when you get it. Has food and serious pastry options too. Yum. Wait times are long when they are busy. They get busy because they're popular and in a great location for RTC foot traffic right near the fountain. The walls are white subway- tiled, and the chairs are all wooden/from so seating is not very comfortable nor very cozy, but the place is very cute and clean, modern yet somehow simple or rustic. Water is available on tap near the mixing station which is nice and you can bus your own dishes if you wish. It's very pretty inside and it's adjacent to the large fountain at Reston Town Center (RTC) which makes the location superb and convenient to reach other sights and locations. Go here! Try it. It's good. Me? I just wish it had a fireplace and sofa chairs, which would make it a little more like a rustic coffee-roastery, and a smidge less like solely a pleasantly themed restaurant. read more

I've enjoyed every visit to this Tatte location, it's such a pleasant space to sit and enjoy, the food and drink are always on point! There's no doubt it should have 5 stars, but when I'm there I generally overhear a complaint here and there about the line (though it always move quickly). They have more than one person serve you from behind the counter depending if you are purchasing a bakery item. If you do not select a bakery item you decline the bakery assistance and order solely at the register. It runs smoothly if you are paying attention, but some customers seem to get flustered by their otherwise efficient system. Reston Tatte is easily one of my favorite local treats now. The staff were friendly and hustling to please the customers. My cappuccino was excellent! My wife's hazelnut latte was extraordinary. This place is gonna be a goldmine. The line was out the door but it moved quickly. The Starbucks down the street has some serious competition. If wait times for drinks to be made is 30 minutes, cashiers should let patrons know the wait time BEFORE the patron pays for the order. Asking "it will be 30 minutes on the lattes, is that ok?"
