It was all delicious. Wait time (a Saturday 11ish) was more than what was estimated 15 min turned into 30 for food. The line for getting pastries moves fairly quickly. I have been here multiple times since I live within walking distance. I have tried multiple coffee drinks and their coffee is awful and with a bitter aftertaste. Pastries are ok. Not sweet and not amazing but pretty and edible. I prefer the hot food. Shakshuka is pricey but tasty. I don't think they have ever gotten my order right usually forgetting something or taking a really long time. But I love the outdoor seating and it's a nice comfortable place to hang out and a good location . read more

On two visits to Tatte in its first week, an attentive staff greeted us and delivered our orders promptly and correctly, despite being busy. The food, as it is at all Tattes, is refreshing and tasty. We got a smattering of things, from a roasted strawberry teacake to the egg in a hole. Their pastries are less sweet than other places, which is a positive. Clean bathrooms. For newcomers, you order at the counter, get a number, then they deliver your food. A tip: both times my eggs appeared undercooked. Some people like this, some don't. Read all the marvelous reviews prior to taking a look myself. Per the reviews, parking was the most challenging; it's been a while since I last visited that area. No free street parking exists. Moreover, parts of the streets in front of Tatte were sectioned off, so need to park away and walk to it. However, it was easy yo spot on foot as got closer to it as there were folks mulling about in and around the area. There were lines, but they were fast-moving. Too little time to see and select what I wanted. I tried the morning bun, and it was satisfactory. The quiches were tasty and well-proportioned provisions. Customer service could be improved. For what seemed to be a spacious area, I found it a bit serpentine. To move on and around people and there was some contraption in one of the main open areas. I am all about trying new places. Thank you for the opportunity. Not sure if I will be returning, though. read more

The food is truly amazing and service is generally warm and good, but both times I've had hiccups. The first time my latte wasn't ready until 20 min after we finished eating (we literally had to stay and wait for it). Then today I ordered the shakshuka and asked for sourdough, as the menu literally you get your choice of sourdough or challah bread. I was told upon ordering that it only came with challah. I pointed out that the menu offered my choice of either, and asked if they had sourdough in stock. I was told that they do have sourdough, but they couldn't (wouldn't) give it to me unless I ordered it separately. I even showed the menu to the manager and she apologized for the hiccup on the menu, but still did not offer to give me sourdough bread. I spent over a decade working in customer service, and this was the easiest fix to honor what they had on their menu. Unfortunately they totally failed to execute thoughtful and appropriate customer service. read more

we came here for a late lunch around 5pm on a Sunday and there was not a single free table in the place! So we left for dinner elsewhere and came back for dessert a few hours later, luckily there were lots of free tables at that point. So I am extremely picky about hot chocolate, and we are lucky to have so many amazing options in the DMV, but I've also tried many lackluster, gloried steamed milk hot chocolates and was sort of expecting the same from Tatte... I am so pleased to say the hot chocolate was LEGIT. Very very rich and deliciously dark! The roasted strawberry pastry and tiny Nutella cookie were fresh and tasty, and my friend liked her cheesecake! My only complaint is that we did online orders and I was directed to 3 different spots to pick up my items. Only one thing was on the dedicated online order shelf and I had to hunt for everything else myself. Plus my drink was randomly on the counter near where a manager type person was doing paperwork and she glared me down for grabbing my drink. Ordered a number of things, so far...the pride cake was amazing. Enjoyed the iced pistachio latte. The dark chocolate mousse was also extremely good. The apricot danish was tasty, air fried it and added some apricot spread. Haven't tried the KA yet, it certainly doesn't look like any kouigan amann I've ever seen. Will definitely crisp it up. I really wanted to like it and was very excited for this opening as I go to the one in DC a lot . I was very disappointed with my experience at this location , I went there at 5 pm on Sunday and almost all the sweets were gone. The seating is very difficult and most of the the table are very close to the main register so it's not easy to maneuver . The worst part was customer service . The cashier was not friendly at all . They forgot to bring my latte and after 15 min waiting went to asked them . I'm glad I did since they forgot about it even though it wasn't very busy . It seems that the staff were not properly trained . I'm gonna give them another chance and will see how it goes . read more

I was so excited for Tatte to open in Reston since we used to drive to Clarendon as it was our closest location! This location had minor issues when it first opened, as to be expected, and of course it was overly crowded because it was the hip new coffee shop in town! Recently, it hasn't been too terrible getting a table as people are often coming and going, and I haven't had issues with my orders. The employees are all really nice, especially the woman at the bakery section -- she's always so friendly! Overall, I think it's worth a stop if you're in Reston! I recommend the pistachio latte or London fog, and any of their baked goods! Oh and their prosciutto and fig panini! read more

I'm really torn about this place. The pastries are great and there's so many delicious items on the menu. However, the place is always a mad house, it often looks disheveled and my orders have been messed up several times. The chai latte is watered down to the point that I couldn't drink it and I witnessed an employee refill his water bottle from the large container of water set out for customers, with the lid of his bottle touching that of the spout. Incredibly unsanitary. Although there's a lot right with this place, there's also a lot wrong with it too. Hoping they do some adjustments to make it a more enjoyable experience. We went to Tatte later Sunday morning and ordered a vanilla sugared donut (which was delicious and the main reason for the 2nd star) and a salmon/avocado sandwich. We were told to wait behind the bar area where the food was coming out so we did, while half searching for new seats to open up. I didn't want to be that customer and ask if our order got lost but finally did so after about 40 minutes because we had to get to a hair appointment. I asked one of their employees and she said it would be coming but didn't get our name. I asked her again about 10 minutes later and she turned away from me, talked to another coworker, they studied a receipt where it must have said the name of our sandwich, laughed then they went back to what they were doing. So we waited a bit longer. Finally the employee picked up a box and said "oh this is yours." It had been sitting and fully ready by 10:57a - it had been 30 minutes. I realize food takes a while to prepare and especially when it's busy. I just couldn't believe how rude their employees were to us. We were patient and kind to everyone in there and were just ignored then treated poorly by not saying anything. A small sorry would have gone a long way. I hope they get some good systems and training in place because we really need a good bakery in Reston. read more

However my experience was based of on to-go order. The staff was friendly and knowledge about the items they served, they knew about common allergies, and made great recommendations. They took my order quickly and gave me my baked goods first. I tried the cinnamon roll, crispy and tasty! I waited on my breakfast sandwich for about 5 minutes. The service was fast and I left quickly after I ordered. I ate my sandwich as fast as I received it. It was really good! Small portion but big impact. I was disappointed by the price, but I suppose for the taste It made it worth it. The ambiance is like other tattes and was very well lit and clean. Plenty of space and tall ceilings. I would love to give five stars for the food and desserts as well as the attentiveness of the young African American cashier who took the order of my friends and I. I didn't catch her name but she was very nice and seemed to care about my overall experience and tried her best to make it even better the second time I came up which in most restaurants and etc. isn't very common these days. With that being said my first time going through the line was great, so I went back to the same young lady and inquired on whether or not the cheesecake cups contained gelatin. She agreed that it was a good question and then went to ask her manager who was VERY RUDE! She was a short young lady with blonde hair and highlights. Once the young lady inquired about it with her manager as well as one of her other co workers, a young man with long hair and a ponytail began laughing so loud that I could hear them from the barstools all the way to the register while saying there's no gelatin in cheesecake what kind of dumb question is that. WOW. It was very insulting and I felt bad for the cashier, they seemed to be very mean to her for some reason and I hope she quits because she can surely take her skills somewhere that treats her better where workers like her will be valued. They say there is no such thing as a dumb question and I could not imagine being laughed at by my manager as well as another co worker for a legitimate question. I assumed since they work in bakery they would know many cakes, especially cheesecakes contain gelatin!!! This overall ruined my experience, but I may come back and give it another go if their staff grows up, it seemed like a bunch of kids running around aside from the young lady who serviced me and serviced me well, being the only one on the register at the time and boxing up my dessert because there was no one else there at the present moment that was able to do it. Unfortunately had a terrible experience at this Tatte. My husband and I tried Tatte for the first time on Monday, May 20. It was a great experience so we came back on Monday, May 27. I ordered the same sandwich with one of the ingredients on the side. No problem on May 20. On May 27, I was told I couldn't get the ingredients on the side and I would have to order the sandwich without it. Oddly enough, when I mentioned this to the girl taking my order, she entered it into the system with the ingredient on the side. She then talked to someone behind her who told us it was company policy to not put things on the side because of presentation (seriously?! Is this café Michelin starred?). He then took out the ingredient that was to be on the side. Then they forgot to give us one of the things we ordered and when I went up to get it, they gave me a look like they didn't believe me and took awhile to grab the pastry from the case. I think this was a really good example of poor customer service and we will no longer go to Tatte when there are so many other great options at RTC. read more

I order (through a delivery app) about once a week and EVERY time something is wrong -- wrong item, missing ingredient, etc. This time I ordered the Kouign-Amann and it was stale and seems like they rushed it through the baking process. It was sugary, for sure, but not carmelized so no texture or color or any of the things that make it special. It went right into the trash can. What a waste of money. read more

Stopped in at Tatte bakery during the holidays. First time there - there are multiple locations, this was at Reston Town Ctr. During a holiday visit. I believe this is a pretty new location. I found the bakery selections good & above average. The line was long but moved quickly. I also did a drink order, to go, & that wait took longer than the line to order & pay. There was no ambiance, it was absolute chaos! Very loud, very crowded. I'd say most patrons did not how to navigate the space or what the process was to order to go, to order to sit down, to just pay for pre-packaged goods. I was like them & had to ask around & several ppl asked me for help too. The space could be improved if directions were provided. Or if there was a person at the front door providing help. I also unfortunately didn't receive my whole order, so make sure to check your bag before you leave. The people who bag the order are not the ones checking you out at the register. I will compliment the coffee making staff, as I had time to observe them while waiting for my 2 drinks. They worked very methodically & calmly & maintained a good mood despite the madness going on around them. That takes alot of self control & focus so hand claps to the drink staff! read more
