My friend and I went here on a whim last week, and we were blown away by how good the food was. I hadn't heard of this restaurant, but when I came across it on Google Eats, I was intrigued -- I haven't had Laotian food, and everything on the menu looked so tasty! I ordered the khao soi and my friend got some other dish with pork belly, scallion pancakes, and hard cooked eggs. They were both stupidly delicious, and we cleaned our plates. Both dishes were a huge amount of food, but everything was so light and fresh that we still felt great after scarfing down our meals. I ended up getting a galangal limeade, and it was a perfect addition to such a spicy meal - not too sweet, super refreshing, with a yummy and complex flavor. The entire staff was also so extremely kind and helpful, and the space itself looked beautiful. We ended sitting outside (with my dog) and it was a lovely experience all around.Can't recommend this place enough, and will absolutely be back. read more

I ordered the bamboo soup, pad lao w/tofu, and galangal soda. The flavor profile was *en pointe*. Whomever crafted this menu did so with great attention to the balance of sweetness/saltiness/sourness. This Laotian version of pad thai was better than any of the dishes I had in Thailand. 5 stars fo sho. read more

This place is a cool spot in Cap Hill - be forwarded it's a very small space so would not be good for large groups. My husband and I sat at the counter and got three dishes. The soup (Khao Soi) I really did not care for and I love soups/broths so that was a bummer. Otherwise our favorite dish was the Thom Khem - the spices were like nothing else you can get except for in Laotian food. It was warm and tasted just like comfort food. read more

Ordered the takeout. The pork belly and yellow curry was amazing but the papaya salad (usually my favorite dish) was a dark grey color and smelled awful. I usually love fish sauce but this dish tasted rancid and was inedible. Not sure what went wrong. :( read more

Wow. Tried 4 items for take out and was blown away. When trying a new place I expect at least one dish to miss the mark, but not the case here. Went to dinner on opening day and was blown away by the bold flavors, super fresh ingredients, and friendly chef-owner. We tried laap, Lao sausage, soop pak, a spicy-that-builds jeow, and house galangal soda. Many new flavors for me, since I've only had a few Laotian dishes previously, but I'm hooked. The burger was simply the most delicious I've ever had in my life, and I've lived and dined in San Francisco for twenty-five years. It is made with beef and pork and I think bacon, and is unbelievably flavorful and juicy, without being rare or salty. On top of that, the fixings are sublime and, unlike at some other faux-gourmet restaurants, complement the complex flavor of the meat elegantly. They also make their own Laos-inspired chutneys and dipping sauces. I wish they had a location in the SF Bay Area! read more

This place has a lot of potential, just needs some work. Portions, not big, so don't expect it. Flavors are there for some dishes, but not so much others. The dishes we enjoyed were the burger, lao sausage(had better though), and jerky. However, the jerky order comes with only 5 small pieces. The beef laab was good, however, if someone didn't like liver, they would hate this dish because it's in every spoonful. The khao soi was the biggest disappointment. Broth was very sour and it unfortunately took away from the rest of the dish. They also didn't have any condiments for it. My group and I unfortunately didn't leave satisfied so we went to another Laotian spot. I would try them again, but maybe after they've been open a little longer. read more

Finally made it in and this place made my heart so happy. The flavors and atmosphere brought me back to my favorite place in the world. Everything was perfect. We opted for the Khao Soi, the baguette, and the Lao sausage--all were to die for. Excited to see Lao food gain more of a presence in Seattle. Chatted with one of the chefs (Khampaeng Panyathong) for a minute and he was so friendly, welcoming, and excited to see Seattlites open up to Lao flavors. This place fills quickly (as it absolutely should), but we were able to beat the crowd and snag a table by arriving right when they opened for dinner. Updated Covid Takeout review. Decided to try a lunch takeout on a whim. Like previous review, finding nearby parking was a bit of challenge, but worth the hunt. Once there, called ahead to order: Lemongrass Limeade drink, side order of sticky rice and sausage, Khao Jee sandwich, Phad Lao w/chicken--10mins. Super fast, packaging was steaming hot, noodles were chewy/al dente (not mushy!!), bread (for sammie) crisp (not overly)--so good, drink was refreshing, not too sweet and just a hint of sparkling bubbles. Now let's talk about that sandwich...I think it is the unsung hero on the menu, though, yes, the sausage is the bomb--so good...and yes, get the sticky rice please! But that sandwich, so yum. I suppose the closest I couldn't compare it to would be is a Vietnamese banh mi, but this was stuffed, like STUFFED (which justifies the price $12) with goodness--pate, pickled veg, pork sung, pork patty...I can't fully describe. I could only finish 1/2 sadly. Reheated for dinner and not quite the same yumminess. But please try. No...try it all! Just go support this small business. Fabulous take out! read more

I love this place. Fresh, flavorful plates, options for all dietary styles, the owner is really great about accommodating food allergies and sensitivities. My favorite is the lao larp (laab?), which also works really well as a to-go item, but every single thing I've had there has been tasty every time. This place is wonderful! I live nearby and have been here a handful of times since they've opened. I've had the Phad Lao (the protein is add-on, because it is big enough without it to have on its own and still have leftovers) and the burger. Both are STELLAR. Was in town for a few days and had to check this place out before I left. I always try to look for Lao and Cambodian restaurants when I travel. The burger was legit. It's a mix of western and southeast Asian flavors. I also ordered the sausage plate and the homie threw in some much-appreciated fatty beef jerky. The presentation was on point especially since it had to prepped into a to-go container. Although the flavors are not entirely Laos, I get it, and they can do big things with just the burger alone. Finally was able to try this place thanks to being on Grubhub. We ordered the sausage, beef jerky, sticky rice, pork rinds and banh mi. I am partially Lao, so my test is always on the basic foods like sausage and beef jerky. I thought the sausage quality and flavoring were good. I did like the quality of the beef jerky, but I thought it was a bit too salty for my taste. I ordered all the jeows (dips), and I wasn't a fan of the jeow bong. Traditionally, it is supposed to be dark brown/black in coloring, so the red/orange threw me off. Plus, the ratio of pork skin to dip was too high. Another Lao staple is the papaya salad, and traditionally does not have green beans or eggplants in it, so this is more of a Thai style (which I believe is mentioned). I did not order this dish because of that. The tomato dip was really robust in flavor, but could have been a hint spicier. Lao food is supposed to be very spicy, but I recognize they are catering to a larger audience. The pork rinds themselves were good, but the dip that came with it was too watery and not very flavorful. Just order an extra tomato dip b/c it was better with that. I have not tried the banh mi yet, but looking forward to it. I give them a 4 for quality of meats/veggies used. read more

I've never had Laotian food before, but if all Laotian food is like this I have been seriously missing out. I got the Thom Khem and the Kano Soi Noodle Soup. The Thom Khen is a pork belly dish with egg, rice, Brussels and a rich sweet sauce. The Khao Soi Noodle Soup is broth based with a heavy pork and bean flavor topped with pork cracklings. I came here with a group of friends on a Friday night. The space is relatively small so you'll need to call ahead if you have a party bigger than 4. The burger was surprisingly delicious and everything else our group got looked amazing. Only down side was that they didn't serve alcohol. read more
