No clue why this place has a 3.5 star rating...probably because it's on Shem Creek and "touristy". I just see it being on Shem Creek as a bonus...you can bring the boat. Don't drink and boat... That aside I love spending the warmer months here because of all of the outdoor seating and the outdoor bar. However...this place is much more than just a watering hole on the water, the food is fantastic. Make sure to get the Pimento Cheese Bacon Jam. I can honestly say I have never been to Tavern & Table without ordering it. It is to the point where one of the bartenders jokingly convinced me they were taking it off of the menu. Burgers are good and all kind of other delicious options and apps. Never had a bad meal. Once your done you can hop on your boat and go or walk next door for a much more casual atmosphere. No reason to leave though as there are TVs everywhere if you want to watch sports or you can go lounge around down by the dock and watch the dolphins, paddleboarders, boats, etc. Def one of my favorite ways to spend a Sunday. read more

Wanted to write an updated review to reflect my most recent experience here. I came for lunch with some friends, and had the ahi tuna bowl but subbed salmon. It was so delicious! All of the ingredients were super fresh and delicious, and the flavors were excellent. I would absolutely order it again. My friends got the same bowl but with the tuna, and they enjoyed theirs as well. Service was excellent as well. Would definitely return to get that bowl again. read more

I absolutely loved this place. I had the mule which was delicious. I was excited to see so many gluten free options. I was so excited that I forgot to order my burger without a bun lol. The waiter was awesome I wish I could remember his name, but he was sweet enough to bring me some lettuce for my burger. I believe I had the butchers burger with the duck fries . The duck fries were like old school McDonald's fries, back in the day when they used to be good. My husband loved his burger as well, he had the double double. We went on a Tuesday at 5:30, our actual waitress was great, she was super nice and polite, checked on us every once an a while. We got oysters on the half shell, the crab dip and I got a special salad. All the food was good and the view was great as well. As we were leaving around 6:30 it did start to get busier. The hostess was rude however. There were two when we walked in, the blonde who was polite and checked us into our reservation and the dark haired one slid between me and the front desk which had to have been about 10 inches of space, nearly rubbed her butt on me instead of just going around us or saying excuse me. She then put our menus on the table as well as drink menu which then fell, she looked at it fall and turned around and walked away. I have never seen that happen, even if the guest picks it up the waitress or hostess always apologizes or tries to get it. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I went here for brunch and it was very good. I got the brisket hash and it was pretty good. The flavours had good texture and good seasoning on the brisket. It was a bit oily though and I found myself trying to drip the oil off before eating it. The hash brown was also pretty appetising. It was the biggest hash brown I've ever seen! Well I'm sorry to say I'm not a fan. I know T&T is located on a prime location, Shem Creek. It obviously draws a huge crowd, as we went on a Saturday night and it was busy. Yes, we had reservations and were seated upon arrival. But the service was a let down, the cocktails were lacking in alcohol, the food prices are rather high for serving size, and the atmosphere is more bar party than an average restaurant. That being said, there were some tasty items we enjoyed. Liked the pimento cheese & bacon jam but served with Ritz, come on, class it up a little. Fried devil eggs were decent, but needed salt and the hot sauce served was useless. Kale & brussel salad, more like KALE salad, and very light dressing. Seared scallops, again decent flavor but to charge $33 for 3 seared scallops, there's a markup. I really enjoyed my pork chop, cooked well, very moist, decent cherry sauce, but a 4-5 oz cut at $28, overpriced. Then the T&T cookie in a skillet was served lightly warm, yet overcooked. Because the cocktails were so unimpressive we both switched, I had a local beer and Alan had wine. But the service lacks here. Our server started with an ok greet. But she didn't read or offer to share the specials of the night. After taking our order, she practicality dissappeared and failed to check on us for anything, yet she was 2 tables away at a large 8 top. She was not interested, nor tried to develop any engaging conversation. Then the food runners were just that, drop & go service. The atmosphere, well maybe it's an age thing, as we are now 50yo. But it is definitely a party atmosphere inside and out. I get hanging out on the deck to drink & socialize, and would recommend it. But the noise inside was loud, there were many large tables, and it also was more party than dinner atmosphere. As a local, I should have known. This is a tourist destination, and just not for me. The location and atmosphere are superb. As soon as you walk into Tavern&Table it feels welcoming and warm. The staff was friendly and quickly took care of us. We happened to get there during happy hour so decided to check out their HH specials while sitting at the outside bar. We both got an Aperol Spritz and split a pepperoni flatbread. I enjoyed the drink but it is not something I would order all the time. To be honest, the pepperoni flatbread reminded me a little bit of a Lunchable. I've heard great things about their flatbreads so would be willing to try a different one on my next visit. Overall, I had a good experience and would go back again. read more

Was looking for something in shem creek.. this was the highest rated place in the area. We had heard it was good.. but can honestly say no. Drinks were a bit overpriced and not mixed well at all.. and we got "speciality drinks" food was average tried to switch to beer but afyer i ordered server told me the keg was tapped. ordered the d&d burger and the fig Flatbread after recommendations from the server. The taste of the burger was good.. but the bun was soggy like a wet newspaper.. ew. Flatbread was good when the bottom wasn't burnt.. I really loved the atmosphere and had a great time with friends. They didn't have many vegan options but the one they had was so delish! The vegetables cooked in the balsamic was on a beautiful platter and was so so good! The waitress also told me the pita was vegan friendly so i ordered a side of pita and ate the veggies with it. I've been to Tavern & Table three times now and it has been nothing short of amazing each time. After having another beautiful experience yesterday, I decided it was time to write a review. With the weather being so nice here in Charleston recently, my friend and I have made it our mission to try alllll the restaurants/bars with outdoor seating. We had a reservation for 1:15pm. Tavern & Table doesn't let you specify on Open Table whether you would like to be considered for outdoor seating, so it's sort of just a gamble once you get there. It was an exceptionally nice day out, so we went into it knowing there probably wasn't going to be availability. We overheard the hostess tell the group in front of us that the wait for outdoor tables was 45 minutes. After hearing that we didn't bother to ask how long it would be for only 2 people and just opted to sit inside. We were pretty disappointed until my friend noticed that they have an outdoor, covered bar that is hidden from view from the dining room. There happened to be 2 seats available so we took them! Views of the water are relatively obstructed because of the placement of the windows and the construction on Shem Creek, but it's still airy and beautiful. If you are looking to sit outside, DEFINITELY check the outdoor bar before giving up because the hostess will not inform you. They definitely do not skimp on alcohol here. We sat on the end directly next to the server station, so we were able to see all the drinks being made. Our mimosa carafe ($16) had almost an entire bottle of champagne in it and very little orange juice, just enough to get the flavor. The bartenders are young, fun and attractive. A few times we had trouble flagging down our specific bartender, but I can't count this against them, as they were mostly attentive without being overbearing. The food was stellar. My friend got the bacon egg and cheese bagel. It has a delicious tomato relish on the bun that definitely makes it a standout. It is HUGE to the point that it could probably be shared. I ordered the shrimp and grits. I've been to many restaurants in Charleston and everyone has their own take on this dish, but this one was traditional and just perfect. Overall, highly recommend. I guess I'm aging myself when my son was telling me where to meet him I said "that's the old Trawler Restaurant place". Once the primo seafood restaurant in the Charleston area when I was a kid, it was known for two things: fried seafood platters and a crab dip that was served liked salsa and chips are at Mexican restaurants today. You can go to Noisy Oyster today and you'd get the same experience. But I digress. So fast forward a few decades and the lighthouse is pretty much the only thing in common with the old place. They serve seafood but I get the impression it takes equal billing with burgers and flatbreads. I had a dang fine French dip burger which came with tasty fries and a dipping sauce that was more Demi-glacé than au jus. But I'm not complaining. Good rich thick sauce IMHO. Sampled the fried deviled egg which despite the novelty tasted pretty much like a regular deviled egg. Whatever the Pinot noir by-the-glass wine was was delicious. Forgot to note the name. read more

Nice new restaurant on the water.. came here hoping for good drinks, seafood and some views! Let's start with the hostesses.. very young and super unfriendly, and not the most welcoming. I didn't let that deter me so we put our name and waited at the bar. At the bar we got some good views of the water way; they have an indoor and outdoor bar but the service was very slow at both.. a tad expensive for drinks. $23 for a old fashioned and sangria.. thought that was a little steep given the semi casual atmosphere of outside. The inside of the restaurant gives it a pretty fancy feel.. but not everyone was super dressy. No problem just details. We did wait for exactly 45 mins so they were pretty spot on with the wait time. Dinner was good, oysters for me.. the crab and artichoke dip was incredible and the grouper dish was also very tasty.. lots of flavor. Definitely something we had never tried before. We came here for a lecture hosted by a pharma company, so the menu may be different than the regular menu. We got to sample pimento cheese with bacon jam which was absolutely delicious. The crab salad spread was alright. Hubby got the short ribs ravioli, which was perfect combination of sweet and savory!!! I got lobster bucatini which was not too good, red sauce was lacking but lobster was fresh. For dessert I got apple tart with ice cream and it was very good. I like the decor of the interior, it's one of the nicer places in Shem creek. I always avoided restaurants in Shem creek because they don't have very good reviews. This review is brought to you as I am still sitting at the table. My father had the the speciality fish which was extremely BLAND for $40! The fish sauce and lemon didn't even give it any flavor. The shrimp and grits had lumpy round balls of grits to fill in the amount of shrimp that SHOULD have been on the plate! $24 for 6 medium sized shrimp and lumps of grit balls. The vegetable platter was the most pleasant thing to hit my palate this evening. THAT was well worth the $12! My child had a children's cheese pizza that looked more appetizing than all of the dishes combined on the table. Another disappointment. Even the pizza was tasteless! I have eaten here three times and all three times the food was very good. Each of those three times I was outside on the deck and it seemed less chaotic than the inside dining and bar areas. The atmosphere inside, especially at the bar, can vary from night to night. A friend and myself went in on a Thursday night thinking it would be empty at the bar but we were wrong. There were only two seats at the bar and it was very lively. We sat there for three hours and the bar didn't turnover at all. If you want a good people watching place then this is for you! read more

Today, our family went to this restaurant for a late lunch at 3:00pm. By 3:50pm, (50 minutes) we had seen our waitress once, had been given water, made our order that included 1 appetizer and 4 main dishes, and our appetizer arrived approx 20 mins into our "experience". Our main dishes food NEVER came. We watched numerous other tables, that sat after we did, getting appetizers, then main dishes, even leaving. When I left the table to ask for some help/explanation, I asked multiple times to speak to someone and then waited another 5 minutes before anyone wanted to talk about this debacle. At this point, what I got was a nonchalant attitude with explanations and absolutely no action. Needless to say, we decided to leave. We left $20 cash on the table for the single appetizer. Instead of the establishment offering to take care of the appetizer, they had the audacity to tell us it was $20.70. These are the facts of our visit to Tavern & Table today. With family in town and looking for a place near the water there was only one thing to do, turn to Yelp. With Tavern & Table being in Mount Pleasent, we were hesitant about driving from Summerville. However, it turned out to be worth the drive. Walking into Tavern & Table makes one think they are walking into an old world port house. The decor is all very rustic and nautical themed without being gimmicky. The restaurant has plenty of windows looking over Shem Creek, making the restaurant bright and welcoming. The bar has a first come first serve seating policy while offering every drink one could ask so they are sure to satisfy. As for the service, I would say I was not impressed. The server was polite and welcoming. When we had questions regarding the menu she even had the answers. However, the kitchen seemed to be slow. We were a party of four during brunch time hours. It took long enough to get our food that my wife and mother-in-law were able to get through three cups of coffee. I ordered the breakfast burrito, covered in what they called Christmas sauce. This meant that it was half and half green chili and red chili. The filling was made up of eggs, onion, cheese and potatoes. Pretty standard but the taste was great. As for the two sauces, they were great. The green sauce had a slightly spicy and tangy flavor that you would expect from a green chili sauce. As for the red, it was smoky and deep, reminding me of red chili sauce from back home in the southwest. Overall, I find Tavern & Table to be a good restaurant. The location is great, the food is good, and the atmosphere is inviting. A few small things could be improved, but overall a restaurant I would recommend. read more
