Tavern in the Square in Shrewsbury is one of our favorite restaurants so I was saddened when going here - ordering our favorites- and finding almost every element worse and in some cases made differently than I expected from the same menu as the other location. I'd rather pay more and keep the quality (specifically the nachos, chicken sandwich, and the Mac and cheese). We were a party of 8 and 7 things were done incorrectly and had to be either changed or sent back. Even ordering drinks was a challenge- those that ordered water had bottles brought out when they just wanted tap and never asked for $5.50 bottles. The waitress made so many mistakes and multiple checks had to be altered. We were patient and still tipped well because times are tough but we won't go back to this location anytime soon. read more

Made a reservation on a Sat night on the app, easy. Seated quickly, hostess was very polite. Calvin the waiter also polite. Food is avg., it's pub food with a little go green type menu. My wife and daughter had pizza...it's OK at best, think a decent frozen pizza as a comparison. We had nachos and fried pickles for apps, both are ok. Drink menu looked good...I tried a talk tiki to me..too much rum, so strong I didn't want to drink it all. I wish places like this would have the staff make the drink as it is written would taste so much better. The place is clean, seemed a little understaffed, slow wait for anything you ask for. But if you're in the shopping center it's a good place to eat, has plenty of TV's, and a nice sized bar. Would be a great place if the food was a little better. read more

We were so pleased to see this new restaurant at the outlets and decided to grab lunch. To begin, I would like to point out how well the staff is dealing with covid rules; we felt good about eating out. Secondly I want to thank our server Christina for her superb service. Had lunch there today. It was not to my liking, sadly. Their menu was odd to me, with strange combinations of things. I like simple, not complicated. But, the waitress was very nice and I ordered a hamburger with lettuce and Swiss cheese, cooked medium, with French fries. It took forever for the food to arrive. There was nothing on our outdoor table, other than the napkin, fork and knife. No salt, pepper, or.... so, when the food arrived, I had to find the waitress to ask for salt. I was ravenous, and cut my hamburger in half, to find that it was well done. I was disappointed, but very hungry and didn't bother to complain. Half way through my tasteless, well done, burger my teeth hit a small bone. I found it took it out of my mouth and put it on the plate. i took another bite. Teeth on bone, again! This time I had trouble locating it as my tongue tried to move it to my lips. So I spit it out in a napkin and stopped eating. When the waitress came by to ask how things were, I was honest. I told her that the burger was well done and that I had asked for a medium. And I told her that I had found bone in the hamburger and I showed her the bone that I had found. I told her there was another bone, or two, in the napkin but it was spit it out and I wasn't going to open it up. She said she was sorry and that was the end of the conversation. The next thing I knew the manager came to the table. He was a lovely young man. He asked me what was happening and I told him about the bones, and the well-done hamburger. We talked a bit about the bone and he asked to see it. It was now in the napkin, with the rest of the burger I had tried to eat. He thanked me, said that he'd look into it, and that I would not be charged for the hamburger. I thanked him, and he took the plate away. The waitress came back with the bill, which included my hamburger. I wasn't going to argue over it, but I felt like I was now being accused of lying. I paid the bill, and as I was leaving, I let the waitress know that I had paid for the hamburger even though the manager said it would be taken off my bill. All in all, it was an unpleasant lunch. I enjoyed my friend's company, the people were pleasant, but the food was awful. My friend and I decided that we wouldn't be back. read more

Gluten Free fryer is down-Tavern should let people know when they come in the door, not after presenting a menu with gf marked saying fryer is dedicated then serving drinks and placing meal orders. RED FLAG: having to ask manager if item marked GF can be made GF- now I know why she was pushing quinoa bowl! We got takeout from here as it was one of the few places open around us. We got shut out from eating outside at several places so it was getting late. I was super impressed. We got the buffalo cauliflower to start followed by a burger and a chicken sandwich. Both had great fries and were super flavorful. The one negative was that the sandwich was super soggy from the sauce - it would be fine in house but didn't travel well for takeout. It still tasted really good. Clean restaurant. Meal was good- Ordered a chicken pasta (4 stars/5) and bacon burger (4 stars/5). Did not have a good experience due to the following: 1. Would have liked a little piece of garlic bread on the side with my creamy pasta - I asked for a slice of regular bread and they said that they did not have any bread. They had sandwiches on the menu so id think that i could have gotten a slice of toasted bread. 2. The server, Calvin, disappeared for long periods- only came once 2 minutes after our food came out to ask if everything was OK and never again. Had to constantly look out for him and flag him down if we wanted anything. Will plan ahead to eat elsewhere before coming to shop in the Wrentham Outlets. read more

I really enjoyed this new addition to the outlets. Went for lunch on a sunny day and sat in the outdoor(ish) area. Got a couple apps. Nachos with chicken and cheese pizza. The nachos were pretty good- edible but probably wouldn't order them again. The cheese just seemed off- like they're using the wrong kind for nachos. But the jalapeños and chicken they used were great and fresh. The pizza was sooooo good. The drinks were good. I got a blood orange spiked seltzer they make. The waiter was great wish I got his name. I thought it was good food, good drinks and a really good environment. The outlets needed something like this! read more

Completely unexpected. Amazing drinks and truly delicious GF mixed veggie app that tastes like a real indulgence. Can't get over how many GF and healthy options they have on their menu. We don't got shopping often, but this was good enough we might go to the outlets just to eat here! Anticipate a longer wait than usual. Seems worth it to me. My only compliant is it's soooo loud. But that will also make it a good place to bring the kids! read more

Great place to catch a place to eat and catch the game!! The blackened fish tacos (3) and street corn were delicious! The server was so sweet and our food came out more quickly than expected. The menu comes through a QR code and seating is spread out to ensure social distancing. They take reservations but this location seems to seat people faster than the rest. Decently priced too and two people can eat for under $40. Parking is not an issue since you park in the Outlets parking lot! read more

This is one of the best experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Although the food was amazing, four out of the five stars I'm giving is solely based off our server, Adna. She was outstanding, absolutely incredible. The second we sat down she made us feel welcomed and we were laughing and having a great time. If it weren't for her I probably wouldn't go out of my way to stop by again. I would specifically request her next time we go because she was just so much fun to have. Amazing food, but even better experience thanks to her. She deserves a raise for the phenomenal time we had. read more

Would have easily been 5 stars, but more on the the "Cluckin' Problem" in just a bit. Got the General Tsoa's Chicken this time. The Chicken, Tempura Broccoli, Bang Bang sauce and rice was off the charts. My daughter got the Green Goddess salad and I was amazed at how fresh it looked. She was delighted, as we almost always are in everything we get here... BUT!!!! Something is sadly wrong with the chicken tender starter! Coming to many of their locations for more than a decade, the tenders used to be the talk of the town, not only for their amazing corn-flake crust, but also the "brontosaurus" size tenders they used to pride themselves on. What's going on! Every time I come recently, they get smaller and smaller, and the price keeps going up! 15 dollars for a 6 piece starter that should legally be called "chicken pinky's" not chicken fingers. I know the times are rough, but chicken prices are still reasonable. I mean they can't even blame Dirty Joe for this. Whatever "chicken (bean) counter" is responsible for this egregious embarrassment should be terminated immediately. There is simply no reason for this utter rip-off!!! To the Tavern... fix this embarrassing problem and you'll get your fifth star! It's sad to see a once great titan fall. read more

I've been wanting to try this place FOR-E-V-E-R... literally. So I stopped in with my 2 littles, one whom always says ahe wants to eat there but has no idea what the place was, the hostess was helpful but not overly friendly. We were taken to a table immediately, we sat at a booth and were brought a highchair but I was disappointed to see that the highchair did not reach the side of the table at all. It made it completely impossible for a child to eat off the table so we opted to just keep the baby in the booth. Erica was our server and she was great. I advised her of a food allergy to which she quickly checked to make sure we were ok. Food came out hot and fairly quickly for the amount of people in the restaurant. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken and I am HOOKED. It was hands down one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Erica was super understanding of the 2 littles I had with me and their needs. I can't wait to bring my husband back and enjoy some dinner and drinks! Sat at the bar by myself, just wanted a quick lunch. Ordered a sangria and steak salad-sangria weirdly has a slice of lemon in it, tastes like juice only. "Steak" salad-a big bowl of lettuce, uncut avocado, giant slices of tomatoes, and cold, flavorless, few pieces of chewy steak. No steak knife offered, lettuce and corn went flying when I tried to cut it. Cilantro ranch dressing is just ranch. Salad arrived well before my drink, bartender admitted she forgot to put my order in to begin with. Found a random piece of mint in my salad. Ordered tater tots in hopes she'd ask if I want something else to drink, but just sat with empty glass.Zero follow up from bartender-was going to order more but she also took away the menu nor did she ask if I wanted anything else. I understand with Covid, prices have increased however this place is ridiculously overpriced. The food is fine, the prices are jaw dropping.

My daughter is gluten free and i was happy to find this place. Already been twice first time was good i had turkey tips my daughter the mac and cheese She was so happy to be able to eat something normal at a restaurant. So reason bad review ifrst time tips were good and favorful second time no taste and just cery bland. Daughters mac cheese was kinda warm at best and pasta not cooked well. Side note my wife had sweet potato fries so of course i had some and they too tasted bad and kinda hard not cooked ? I dont know how u mess upfries. I just don't write bad reviews..ever. But this was such an expensive disappointment and several of us stopped at fast-food on the way home. First let's start with cocktails. We ordered the "Fig Old Fashioned"..sounded great on the menu. What we received was a small glass filled to the brim with crushed ice that you'd expect in a soda. The "old fashioned" was just thick and syrupy and grossly sweet. Couldn't taste the bourbon at all and likely zero bitters. After 3 sips from a small straw, it was all gone. Then we ordered our favorite drink, a Manhattan. This was also gross and was the color of a coors light beer. I Could tell it was vigorously shaken with the same crushed ice as the previous drink and i'm pretty sure was slightly fizzy, like they topped it with soda-water. Literally disgusting and had only a slight taste of heavily watered down whiskey. That drink sat the entire three hours we dealt with this place until I finally finished it before leaving. Then I figured they can't mess up a Jameson & Ginger. Also gross. Couldn't taste any ginger ale or Jameson. Again came in a small glass filled to the brim with crushed ice. Ginger ale was either not used or they needed to change the soda out...I couldn't discern if there was even a full shot of Jameson in there, because it also just tasted slightly of watered down whiskey, as had my Manhattan. I left half of that drink un-drank. Oh, and these cocktails aren't cheap. Should have just ordered a beer. Ordered apps...Nachos, chicken and waffle sammies and quesadillas and pickle chips. 45 min later...still not an appetizer in sight. Waitress forgot that I even ordered the chicken and waffle sammies and was very unapologetic about any long waits. Got the apps eventually. Serving size of nachos, which everywhere else is a big heaping pile of awesome...was just small. And, there was zero flavor at all. The chicken on them was dry and flavorless, the jalapenos were not spicy and the cheese was bland and the chips quickly sogged. Our party never even finished them completely. The other apps were meh..the best of which were the chicken and waffles..which tasted great, but bottom waffle was soggy which made it hard to keep together as a "sammie". The pickle chips were pretty good too, actually. Only 2 of us ordered an entree, even though we were starving. The wait and indifference for our lack of appetizers in a timely manner, and quality of the stuff we had received made us decide not to risk more money and time on an entree . One ordered was Fish and Chips..weird batter and small, thin filet of fish inside. If you want fish and chips, go to your local pizza shop where you'll get real fish and a real portion, even the tartar sauce was gross...just all mayonnaise tasting. The other was a burger...that wasn't eaten...it didn't look very juicy or yummy so it just went in a box at the end of the night. Highlight of food was the tater tots---salty and crispy. But, how can you mess up a bag of frozen tots dropped into some oil? You can't, so that's probably why they were good. Tasted just Like Ore Ida tots I feed my kids. Service wasn't the best...but no need to get into that here. all of this cost us $400 and two hours driving there and back to go there to meet some friends. Several of us stopped at drive-through fast food on the way home. Thank god for Wendy's. That frosty and spicy chicken sandwich hit the spot. Would I recommend? NOPE. Will I ever return? NOPE. I'm not sure why this place has such great reviews. Maybe I just have higher standards than most people. First off I didn't see one employee that looked like they enjoyed working there. The hostess just stared at the screen in front of him, never looking up unless someone walked in to bother him about seating. We waited 25 minutes for a table which we were willing do do because of all of the great reviews. The waitress brought us our beverages, (there were five of us) and then took our order. That was the last time we saw her for about 40 minutes. Another waitress passing by brought us more drinks. When our food finally came out, I could tell that my son's cornflake chicken tenders were overcooked and after a couple of bites he stated that they were very dry. I had the turkey smash burger which sounded intriguing, but was 75 percent Texas toast, 20 percent stuffing, cranberry mayo, and Cole slaw, and 5 percent turkey burger. One side of the grilled bread was very crunchy while the other side was soggy. I typically look for something unique when dining and was hoping to enjoy it but i was disappointed in a big way! My wife usually always orders fish tacos when they are on a menu. She can handle some spice, but said these were to spicy. Mexican street corn was good. It is hard to correct a problem if there is no follow-up. Both of my daughters liked their burgers but the fries were cold which was the case with my fries as well. As the waitress passed by again, finally...she could see that we were done and brought the bill. Let me start by saying the hostesses -- wonderful and kind. The food -- delicious. The food runners -- excellent. Our waitress Stephanie -- absolutely disgraceful. After a great day of shopping with our god child and our best friends we decided to head into tavern in the square for a nice lunch. As soon as we walked in I informed the hostess that my husband has a physical handicap and is in a scooter, she assured me that wouldn't be a problem and he could park his scooter right at the table. We sat down and over came our waitress, asked to take our drink orders and told my husband he had to park his scooter by the front entrance. We told her he had a physical handicap and needed to stay in it. She insisted he had to park it at the front of the restaurant so he wasn't blocking another table -- ultimately affecting her chance of having people sat in said table so she could get a tip. Once she came back with the drinks she started again with him having to park the scooter at the front entrance. We cut her off and told her if it was such a big deal she could send her manager over and we would happily discuss what handicap accessible means. From that point on she was basically non existent to us. We had to ask food runners for sides of sauces and refills on drinks. When bringing us the bill we told her what amount to put on what card to which she responded "does that include my tip?" By that point we absolutely should have asked for a manager but we were all done and wanted to get out of the restaurant. Her lack of common sense and basic human decency is disgraceful, she has absolutely NO business in the service industry. read more
