Ordered delivery. Ordered chicken on the beet salad it was two tiny pieces and didnt have flavor. The gyro combo was a little better with flavor but not much food for the price. I wouldn't do delivery again.

I absolutely loved Taverna by The Gyro Project. I had made the reservation for dinner on the last day of the Yelp Event and from booking the reservation on Open Table to making sure the restaurant received said reservation (called them to make sure - it also snowed pretty heavily on the day, so wanted to make sure they were open), to running late due to traffic - the staff was very helpful and very pleasant. Through the Event, we were able to order 2 drinks (one each), 1 shared appetizer, 2 entrees and 1 shared desert. My friend and I both had the red sangria, which wasn't too sweet and hit the spot nicely. We shared the grilled octopus - it was very delicious - and we had the Portokalopita (SO GOOD 10/10) for the desert. For the mains, we ordered the lamb chops and the beef & lamb gyro platters. Loved everything - the portion size, the taste and texture of the meat - tender, juicy and very tasty. Their Greek fries were also a hit, as well as the pita that's brought out for the table. Paul, our waiter, was incredibly sweet, polite and attentive. From the second we were seated down, he explained to us the menu and what would be excluded from the Yelp menu (just one thing, lol). I appreciated not being rushed and being able to take our time and enjoy ourselves. Given that the meal was comped, I wanted to make sure that Paul was taken care of, so it was nice that he was also appreciative of the well-deserved gratuity. The restaurant shares a space with a Mexican restaurant right next door - we were seated in the back where there was a curtain separating part of the two spaces. Overall, it is also spacious, modern-looking and cozy, with typical decor depicting the Evil Eye and other Greek cultural elements. There is a separate and decent size bar upon walking in to the right, so that's also always a nice option to have for some individuals. Thank You Yelp for the event opportunity! Thoroughly enjoyed, highly recommend and will return!

Came here with a friend on a dinner date. Place looks friendly and casual. We were seated at a high top table. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful with weighing our menu options. First we started with a beverage, my friend ordered a French 75 and I got a Greek red wine. The dinner started with the Grilled Octopus, which was flavorful and a hint of spicy. The entrees consisted mostly of kebabs, souvalaki platters, gyros. I would've love to see a fish option. My entree was the Steak kabob, nicely cooked but a bit oversalted to my liking. For dessert, the Portokalopita, a zesty orange dessert with cream was delicious and fluffy. I would come back just for this! Unbeknownst to me until I went to the bathroom, they share the space with Nizuc, the restaurant next door. Overall a cute spot with chill vibes if you're in the area.

My Yelp invite coincided with my booking near my birthday, and it ended up being a really good birthday gift. I love this spot. I had the chicken souvlaki, and my partner ordered the lamb chops. She also ordered the Greek honey cheese, the grilled halloumi cheese, which we had with pita bread. I definitely went heavy on the pita, and we finished the meal with baklava. My drink was called the Red Rum, and she had the Loux Lemonade and later the pink flamingo. Our total came out to just under $100, so keep in mind this is modern NYC pricing for a couple's night out. The space is really cozy, with friendly staff who genuinely try to make the occasion feel special. They even put a candle on my baklava for dessert, which was a nice touch.

This is the Latino restaurant it is sharing space with (much bigger space)

Lovely food and great service! The restaurant is not that big, and it shares space and bathrooms with a Latino restaurant (which occupies a much larger space), but it's cosy and has nice vibes. The bathrooms are shared, and they're very clean and spacious, which is always a plus in my book. The prices are very reasonable, and we enjoyed everything we had.

I came with a group of 3 friends for a casual dinner on a Monday night and absolutely loved this place! We originally wanted to go to The Gyro Project itself but it felt a little too fast casual, so when I heard there was a sister restaurant that offers a full sit down experience, I knew this was the spot we had to go to! Getting a reservation was very easy, even with only a day notice. The space is large, feels open, and has a very cute but casual vibe. They have some eating indoors and outdoors. Our waitress was very nice and patient with us while we balanced deciding what to order and got lost in conversation catching up with each other. They offered us a drinks menu and a few people in our table opted to try some of the beer which they liked. For food we got a few things for the table but I tried the below: - Fried Calamari: generous portion! Came with a delicious spicy aioli as well as some marinara sauce. The calamari had a little too much batter for my taste but it was cooked well and did not feel too oily. Very good app to share! - Horiatiki salad: I ordered this for myself and added some chicken souvlaki for extra protein. Very refreshing and light! The salad was definitely on the heavier side for the onions but thankfully they were not super pungent. The chicken was delicious, it came very hot, was tender, and very flavorful! Very high quality veggies. - Chicken souvlaki plate: similarly, very good chicken! Fantastic seasoning. This is was very generously portioned. It came with two souvlaki, fries, salad, pita, and tzaitziki (which can be replaced for another one of the dips if there are dietary restrictions). The pita was also delicious, it went very well with the creamy and refreshing tzaitziki. Very filling. Forgot to picture since I was too hungry. - Greek yogurt: amazing dessert! This is not their fro-yo version that they have at the Gyro Project locations which I've been dying to try. However, this was delicious as well! The yogurt was creamy, like the richest, most decadent yogurt I've had. The yogurt came topped with generous amounts of honey and these honey soaked cherries?, and walnuts which provided the perfect balance of tangy, sweet, and nutty. Amazing and felt pretty healthy! Overall, I really liked my experience here. The menu is varied and offers options for everyone. I was particularly surprised by the prices and how fair they are for the portion sizes and higher quality of food! It's rare nowadays in this city to find deals this good. This is a perfect place for a casual bite with friends if you want a little bit more of an elevated and cute ambiance without the hefty price tag. Also, the menu is very healthy and leaves you full but not heavy. Will definitely note this place for future gatherings with friends. Highly recommend!

I came here with a friend and had an amazing time! We arrived right at opening and service is impeccable. Everyone greeted us well and made sure our experience was comfortable. The restaurant is very fancy with lots of seating. It would be perfect for both small and large parties. We placed our order and the food came soon after. We started off with the Grill Haloumi. They were a little rubbery in my opinion, and I would try another appetizer next time. The entree platter however was delicious! I got the beef and lamb gyro platter and they were generous with the serving. The lemon potatoes were nice and citrusy, the meat tender and juicy. I did think the dish overall was a bit oily, but the citrus does help cut through the fat. We ended out with the portokalopita, and this cake was spongey and sweet. Definitely a great way to end this filling meal. I'm so happy I got to try The Gyro Project, and would definitely recommend!

I've been to the fast casual gyro project so I was curious what their full service restaurant would be like. It is a very nicely decorated space that feels spacious but also intimate at the same time. The staff were very friendly. I had the octopus tentacle for an appetizer which was very tender, but a tiny bit over seasoned. My pork Slovakia was juicy and a fair portion for the price. I did enjoy the orange sponge cake, though other iterations of it have been more moist in the past though this was pretty good. It's a nice spot to go to. If you're in the area I need to sit down place that isn't too pricey.

This spot is an amazing sit down version of the gyro project with a clean aesthetic and roomy atmopshere. Highly recommend coming here and getting the kebab platter and octopus as both were amazing and perfectly seasoned. The octupus comes with a beautiful yellow sauce made from capers that I could not get over. The service was attentive and fast with all the dishes. Huge portions!

I want to shout out how juicy every dish was! I get worried at times since some of the meats at other soulvaki spots can get dry but these were the exact opposite. The octopus and beef & lamb gyro were some of the best I've ever had! Can't wait to come back

This restaurant is a little far from the train station but the walk was not too bad. Hostess was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. Restaurant is nicely decorated with very cozy vibes. We ordered the grilled octopus as our appetizer. Octopus was very tender and delicious but the sauce with capers were a tad too salty. For the main I ordered the pork souviaki platter and it was a huge platter. My friend ordered the steak kebab platter and on both entrees they were very generous portions. My meat needed a little more seasoning but was super tender. Steak kebab came out perfectly seasoned and very good as well. Greek yogurt with honey and walnut was a perfect ending to a very delicious meal. Wait staff were very attentive and came to check up on us from time to time so that was a very nice touch. Can't wait to come back!

Great place to stop by for an elevated casual dinner! My favorite was the spicy feta dip and the grilled halloumi. All the plates were easy to share. The orange cake was too sweet for me personally but I still liked the orange, citrusy flavor that was infused in the cake.

First thing you'll notice upon entry is how absolutely decorated it is. If you're a fan of Witcher, it's like walking into an an old-timey tavern. If you have no idea then-- it's like an old-timey tavern. I wouldn't be surprised of they had bard Fridays and homemade mead. It's also a big space. Reminds me of one of the last remnants of the bygone era that was the Obama-era glow. Like peak millenial where restaurants were starting to get viral but not to the point where they have to hyper compete with a gimmicky dish. The prices are a bit steep and was making me consider dropping my rating down a star but fuggit, I like their food. I played it safe and got the mixed grill meats but that's because I lack reading comprehension and thought the main dish (I don't know what it's called, it's just the 1st entree listed) was a baked meat pie situation, it was more grilled steak on a bed of mash potatoes but these mash potatoes were savory like gravy. I wish I got my friend's dish. The mixed grilled meats were a lot closer to doners or skewer meat. Different cuts but also different flavors. What they had in common was a sort of spice-forward sizzling taste. My friend got two appetizers (which I also don't know the name of) but were definitely the most beautifully presented foods I've had in a long while. They were both creams but one had a pepper in it (not the spicy kind). The pepper one was a light refreshing sourness and the other was a heavier but not heeeeavy savory one. Both great to dip your bread in. I wanted to try the lemon cookie for dessert but my friend got us all Tres Leches by accident. That was great but I would say the most non-novel out of everything we got. Delicious, just not something out of the norm-- which is what I go for when I'm trying a new cuisine like Albanian. I wouldn't say this is normal day-to-day Albanian (I have a few friends), it's more like the Americana equivalent, an upscale where Albanians go out to eat.

It was a little hard to hear and converse at times as it gets crowded, but the food was delicious and there are really unique items on the menu. Food: The duck shawarma was one of our favorites! We were lead upstairs to a table. There were 7 of us The seating was cozy but not cramped. We started with 7 family style small dishes: Hummus with Falafel Pops (chickpea purée, tahini, falafel, olive oil), Spring Burrata (roasted cherry tomatoes, toast, basil oil), Hamachi Crudo (passionfruit vinaigrette, citrus zest, cucumber, mint, sesame tuile), Scallops (carrot puree, serrano pepper, brown butter sauce), Tenderloin Skewer (zaatar chimichurri, fresh herb salad), and Shiitake Stuffed Grape Leaves (tomato coulis, yogurt foam, herbs). Everything was delicious. The hummus was well seasoned the falafel had a nice crunch. It went well with the warm puffy gyro bread that came to the table. The burrata was wasm and creamy. I love the vinaigrette on the fish. I ended up eating most of it. The scallops were the sweetest, most tender ones I have ever had. The tenderloin skewers were tender and well seasoned. I liked the grape leaves but the rice consistency was very soft almost mushy and you can barely tell there were mushrooms. There was barely any mushrooms flavor. Next we all chose an entree. I got the duck breast, my husband and daughter each had the beef tenderloin. The duck breast was smaller than i expected. The skin was nicely seared and very crispy but boy did it give my jaw a workout. It was done medium rare. It was juicy but tough. The small beef tenderloin was tender and smoky. The waiter poured the sauce over the tenderloin for added flavor. Finally dessert was a fruit plate with ice cream and pudding. The fruit was fresh and the flavors of the ice cream and pudding unique. It was a nice end to a good brunch. The price was a little expensive at $85 a person.
