I picked this spot since we have never been here and it looked like a good places from some of the reviews. I made reservations and it was dinner time on Valentine's day. It was busy at the bar but not to bad for the main dinning. I checked in and we were seated right away. The girl asked us to follow her to our seats seemed to be looking at the open tables and decided to put us in the middle of the room at a 4 person table. I saw that the entire section with booths was empty. I asked her if we could get a booth and she said "well those are for booked people." uhm I booked a reservation. She waited a second and walked back to the reception desk. Soon she came back and sat us at a booth which was a table for 2. So weird. Our server was really nice and laid back. He knelt down and told us the specials. SO as far as service it was very good. My wife wasn't very hungry so she was looking for a small dish. She got the Caesar salad and it was good. She also got the Parmesan Risotto. It was actually a side dish. When it came out it was tomato based and didn't have any parmesan on it. I asked the server and he said it was infused with lobster sauce. which wasn't want she wanted. He asked to take it away but my wife said no and didn't want to bother with it. I really think it was the risotto that was connected to a special dish and not the side. I started out with the steamed clams. They were good flavor and I liked the sauce with it but some of the clams didn't open which is bad. they were a nice size to. Next was the pork chop wrapped in bacon. It was cooked and tasted ok. I just expected more from this place. The server came back and was apologizing about my wife's risotto and offered to take care of the dessert . So we got the chocolate lava cake. It was really chocolaty. This place was just ok.

Had such a great experience at Taverna. Service was very friendly and quick, our food came out within 15 minutes of ordering, which made the whole experience feel smooth and relaxed. Started with the Kapalua Sunset cocktail, a crisp sparkling wine that was light and refreshing, perfect for a casual sip. The Beet 21 Salad was beautifully done. I loved the addition of mac nuts for that extra crunch, and the goat cheese paired so well with the beets and fresh peaches. The combination of sweet, creamy, and nutty flavors made it feel really well balanced. The Truffle Mushroom Pizza was rich and full of umami, with creamy mushrooms and fresh arugula on top to brighten everything up. The view also makes this place special with spectacular scenery overlooking the golf course, especially around sunset. Great food, quick service, and an unbeatable ambiance. Would definitely come back again.

Taverna is the best and we come often :) Here is the deal - the service is exemplary ! It is some of the best you will find on the island - this is what takes it from a 4 to a 5. I have never had a bad server ( or even a mediocre server ! They're all amazing ) The view and location are also great. the food varies from good to very good( I would say it's food is 3-4 stars although it's fish dishes are always very fresh and well prepared so count on those being 4 star or even higher maybe). One detractor: they removed their chocolate torte and the lava cake is inferior by a mile ( it's fine but the torte was one of the best desserts I have ever had and I would've come for it regardless of service other food quality or view lol) Another plus - the kitties! Two local kitties frequent the place and we love feeding them - it makes the trip for us ! For those complaining about the cats - honestly just go to a chain or stay in your hotel Lastly- cocktails are excellent which is another plus. Yes it's a little pricier but everything in Maui is and honestly for the service I think the price is worth it - Taverna is always a great experience with tasty food and fun for me and my kiddos - we always recommend it and love coming back :)

The lasagne- get there early to order it as this was the last piece that evening!

Taverna is my new favorite dinner spot in Maui. Service is not the fastest but my husband and I like to enjoy our dinners at a leisurely pace anyway! Love the upscale club vibe and the live music. Alejandro was our waiter-he gave us great food and wine suggestions. The truffle gnocchi is superb!

Taverna on kapalua golf course is lovely restaurant with that country club feel. Think wood grain floors, walls, tables and polo shirts. They have a full cellar, clever bar concoctions along with the classics and good service, from the hostesses, waiters and bar tenders. The food is fresh and local, a bit of an Italian lean on their predominantly local fare. They advertise using local fish caught by local fisherman. The ahi tuna was fresh, the sides were tasty, and nothing was done to ruin the excellent cut of fish. The Onaga or red snapper was the fish of the day and it was perfectly pan fried, tasty and simple with a side of steamed vegetables and rice. We enjoyed the vibe, the service and food. Pricey--not surprisingly so given the location--but not unaffordable for a lovely date night.

Love Taverna! We had a larger party and were seated quickly overlooking the "T-Off" zone as the golfers say. Food was amazing, most of our party got the Catch Bowl. All desserts were great too. I recommend the Drunken Affogato and Truffle Fries!

Cauliflower steak, rice and carrots. 4.5 stars out of 5.

Service was great! Food was very mediocre for the price. Missing the seasoning. Scallops were a little overcooked. Caesar salad was good and the cauliflower steak was very good. Really expected the most expensive item on the menu ( shrimp and scallops) To be amazing-it wasn't. The ambience was very loud but aesthetically pleasing. Can't remember our server but she went to college in Arizona and was by far the best part of the evening!

My cousins ordered cocktails and our server was so kind to let them know if they weren't happy with it, they could exchange it which they did. The first course of delicious appetizers was the Caesar salad with anchovies and the Kahuku Sweet Corn Agnolotti with Keahole lobster! That was so buttery delicious and small enough to make you want more! The homemade taro rolls with butter, oil and honey was a nice accompaniment. Our second course was just right portion wise and savory. My cousin even said he was full, which never happens since he loves to eat! We enjoyed the 48-hour Wagyu Prime Rib which was so tender and easily cut with a butter knife. Yummy dollops of potato purée and broccolini were beautifully placed around the meat. My other cousin enjoyed his Shrimp Scampi with fresh house made tagliatelle, capers, Kula tomato and basil. The dessert course was a great way to end our meal. I got the Pineapple Upside Down cake with a scoop of Ube Ice Cream, biscotti crumble and Kula Rum Caramel. My cousin's panna cotta was made with local Maui Kuia Chocolate and chantilly cream with a tuile that had light sprinkle of black pepper. Overall, a wonderful experience and only $79 for the 3 courses! We will definitely be back.

So of course we ate at Cane & Canoe nearly every night of our stay. We also ate here for breakfast one day. For the price, I think it's very overrated. But here's what I think are good. - the bar menu has more casual food (burgers taste good, fries are good) and for staters, they give you gourmet popcorn - the dining room has yummy bread starters with honey, whipped butter, and olive oil From the dining room, I really liked their jidori chicken!! more than their steak. Their pineapple upside down cake was yummy and warm too. Their normal price seems really steep though and the views aren't that good. As for service, all of our servers were friendly and made small talk with us, and delivered every plate with a smile. Overall solid 4/5, 3.5 if I had to pay full price.

Merriman's Kapalua is perched on an oceanfront peninsula directly on Kapalua Bay Point. You have unobstructed views of snorkelers and whales breaching during whale season. There is indoor and outdoor seating for dining. The service is excellent. Our server was very attentive, friendly and very helpful. The Food is Off the highest quality. American Waygu burger sliders - 5/5 The Waygu burger patties were very delicious. They were cooked perfectly medium so the sliders were tender and juicy! The brioche bun were perfect fit for these sliders. The Molokai'i sweet potatoes fries were excellent too. Hawaiian Ahi Poke - 5/5 Another excellent selection. Hawaiian Ahi that was bought from the auction fish docks the same morning, cut into cubes along with green onions, sweet Maui onions, ginger, jalapeños then mixed with ginger-sesame soy, and prepared at your table. Put the poke on the sweet potato fries and you have a delicious appetizer you won't forget! Mac Nut- Crusted Fresh Catch - 5/5 Freshly caught Hawaiian Ono steamed to perfection, with Hamakua mushroom reduction sauce. The chili- garlic broccoli was cooked perfectly tender. Along with the scallion rice, this selection was outstanding. Diver Scallops & Clam Curry - 5/5 The scallops were very succulent and tender. The green coconut curry boosted the flavor, and the clams were easy to pull out of their shells. The shrimp shu-mais were tender and delicious. Ulu (bread fruit) were fried for the starch in this selection. Another excellent selection to choose from. Waialua Chocolate Purse - 5/5 Dark chocolate wrapping that looks like paper that contains chocolate mousse. Paired with homemade Tahitian vanilla ice cream. A very nice selection to complete your dining experience. Again, this is a very upscale restaurant that serves outstanding Hawaiian fusion cuisine. The total for our dining experience including two mocktails was over $230. Be aware Merriman's will add a kitchen "surcharge" to your bill. The idea was to have a special dinner with an iconic sunset view with my wife for her birthday. What I got was rushed into a table that barely had room for 2 serving spaces and LITERALLY obstructed view of the entire ocean. Merriman's should be ashamed to even have a table in this space. We were not "inside" but 2 sides of the table abutted a support column that 100% obstructed any kind of plausible view of the ocean. We arrived on time, for a table reserved 60 day in advance but the seating we were given would have been barely acceptable for a walk in, take anything available option. The entire experience was absolutely anything but special, $330 and I have to sit in an awkward side angled position, not even across from my wife, with a view of 2 walls that I could have gotten in a strip mall fast casual restaurant? It's clear they don't care, and it is just another table to turn 3-4 times a day and rake in the $$. I absolutely advise anyone to steer clear, this is like ordering an amazing sunset birthday dinner and getting the TEMU version. The food was good, but server was not attentive and seemed overly busy and had zero interest in guiding our choices, instead was "here's the menu, let me know what you want". Total and utter disappointment from the minute we walked in until we left. In the moment they were extremely busy so it's not like there were other table options. On a special occasion I do expect I need to ask to not stare at a wall, for a place heralded for sunset views. Merriman's should be ashamed for even having a seat so awful and awkward. Do not risk your special occasion on a place that is overcrowded, overpriced and completely underwhelming in every single aspect!

So if that's a big part of what other folks love about Sea House, we came at a time when that's not a factor. Service was super nice - both our servers and the hostesses. I appreciate that they have choices for vegans, vegetarians, carnivores and pescatarians. Tables outside were nice enough - but I'd say that indoors needs a refresh. It had a 1980s Ramada Inn hotel restaurant vibe. People seemed happy inside - it just seemed more like a place for folks who have visited here for decades than a place with a trendy interior. Drinks: cocktail list was a little more tropical-traditional than cutting-edge mixology, but what they make seems well done. I decided "when in Rome" - & got a frozen coconut mojito. It was definitely tasty & came with the expected brain freeze. Bread: 2 complimentary rolls (in contrast to restaurants that make you pay for fancier & tastier pull apart rolls). They were fine, not memorable. Salad: we split the MOLOKA'I WATERMELON SALAD, which was the most interesting salad on the menu: Makawao Farm arugula + Kumu Farm watermelon + sheep milk feta + Kula sweet onion + EVOO + aged balsamic. It was refreshing and tasty - and they kindly split it for us in the kitchen. Definitely big enough for two people to split, so a great value for $18. Entree: can't remember what my sweetie got but it was "some kind of meat" and he thought it was fine LOL. I got the LOCAL MUSHROOM RISOTTO: it comes with a kind of brown sauce (mushroom, cheese), rather than just being in a broth. But the rice was firm, and I really liked the local mushrooms. It won't win contests, but is a very nice (and also very generously sized) dish for a vegetarian. Overall, we had a very nice time here, though we didn't think that the food overall was quite as good as the best places we enjoyed on our vacation. If the view is spectacular during the day, then that probably tips it over the edge. But we still enjoyed our meal. Mahalo!
