I am not sure if you were one of the males working the front of the house today but if you were not there needs to be more training done to your host and hostesses. We arrived at 12:50 and there were approximately 10 parties in front of us. We were finally sat over 2 hours later! I totally understand that it was a game day but here in lies my problem: Upon arrival we were told it was first come first serve. As we stood in line, I questioned why there were 4-6 open tables and no one was being sat? Answer: "they were for reservations". I called while in line to see if I could make a reservation and was told by Kate "we do not take reservations on game day". OK that totally contradicts what the answer was to why there were open tables. Everyone standing in line felt that your staff did not seem to care that we were waiting (several people were outside in the rain). After about 90 minutes, and watching 4 parties leave (and NO ONE was sat) I went in and asked the lead hostess, "are you saving more tables for reservations that you do not take"? I asked because, if so NO ONE would ever get a table. This time I was told "these are people who were grandfathered in as you have begun a no reservation policy".....really? The man who seemed like the manager had little concern for the fact that people were waiting, did little to help bus tables or run food. Not really sure what he was doing until we got a table near the back and he was standing at two table chatting with the customers. Again, I have been in the food business so I understand that with today's weather you cannot make people leave their tables. Here are some suggestions for the future: Don't mention reservations, find another term. Offer people who are in line they can eat but they have to be done in an hour (your kitchen was putting out food very quickly). Then those tables that were held for hours for "reservations" would have been turned and made someone more money! This was one of my worse dining experiences! read more

If you're going to include "gourmet pizza" in the name of your restaurant, you better have good pizza. Unfortunately, Tavolino is pretty middle of the road. The service is good. When I first walked in, there were at least 4 employees standing near the host stand. The girl asked if I wanted to sit inside or outside and then gave the menu to some guy who acted like he couldn't be bothered to seat me. But my waitress was very nice and responsive so she made up for the less than enthusiastic host. I kept it basic and ordered a 12" pepperoni pizza. I was brought complimentary bread & olive oil. This should have been a fore warning of what my pizza was going to be like. The bread was beyond burnt. The crust was nearly impossible to bite into. My pizza soon arrived and it looked okay. But the big problem was there was very little difference between this pizza and what you get at places like Blaze or PizzaRev. The crust was a little thicker but the sauce, cheese and supposedly imported pepperoni were exactly the same quality you get at the make your own pizza places. The outer edge was burnt; not as bad as the bread but still a bit over crisp. Tavolino is located in a shopping center which has several restaurants. I noticed there's a "nicer" Mexican restaurant a few doors down from a Moe's. I'm sure a fast casual pizza place is bound to open here and then people will ask why should they pay more the same type of pizza at Tavolino. read more

My wife and I had dinner tonight here. We have eaten here many times in the past. All previous experiences were very good. Tonight, as usual the wait staff wasfriendly and efficient with the exception of not offering or bringing bread to us. The appetizer of calamari was small and overpriced. My wife's drink was watered down and replaced (watermelon cooler). Our entries were mediocre. The veal saltimbocca was average. The veal was tender and the grilled asparagus was good, however the linguine was way overcooked. The grilled scallop entry was dry and the rice dish was overcooked. I spoke to the manager about the food and our disappointment telling him that we just wanted to let him know so he could improve the food quality. We didn't request any bill adjustment. Usually visiting Patriot Place I go to Red Robin but this time decided to try one of the other restaurants. Tavolino's looked like a good choice and while the flavor was there there the rest of it wasn't. The positive:. Nice atmosphere, flavor of the food was impeccible. My mom got the Bolognese and it was hot and flavorful. Mostly meat and sauce with less pasta which is how she prefers it. I had the Basalmic BBQ Chicken Pizza which was very tasty and the Basalmic BBQ was really good. The negative:. Service was very slow. They said 'Everyone came in at once', however the guys at the table next to us ordered their food after us and they were served, done eating, paid, left, and their table reset before we even got our food. We actually didn't even see our waitress except once after ordering and we had to get another waitress to find her. The food took 45 minutes to get to us, and while the pasta was nice and hot, my pizza was noticibly cooler. The metal tray was hot, but it seemed like the pizza had set for a while because in places the dough was soggy. The waitress was nice enough but almost seemed bothered by us asking where our food was. Overall I would probably go back but not for pizza. read more

I drinking a Stella draft beer when I looked and a small fruit fly went in it. I mentioned to the waitress that I had a bug in my beer. Overpriced. The food was horrid. The customer service wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. My salad, which I paid $7 to add shrimp to, was mostly these horrible soggy homemade foccacia breadcrumbs. My husband got a burger and she forgot the onions and bacon that go on it. Then he asked for steak sauce, she took her sweet time bringing that and then told another waitress (who offered A1 sauce) "I don't even offer customers that shit." The other waitress was embarrassed and noticed our toddler and said "It is better" before running away. My son's fish and chips was bland and over battered. For the South Shore, this restaurant (& Patriot Place in general) is a welcome upgrade. The Lafayette House and Luciano's were getting pretty tired until Kraft started building Kraftboro around the stadium there. Tavolino's looks like it could be in downtown Boston and they've obviously spent a couple shiny pennies on the place. It's a nice oasis from the alternatives and the five of us had a great meal. The pizza's reminded me of Todd English's Figs with the arugula and prosciutto, drizzle of this or that, wood-fired oven (I suspect). Great date place, groups, clients even our kids didn't seem too out of place (although they complained throughout that Red Robin was only a few scant yards away). read more

Hands down one of the best pizzas I ever had in my life! The sauce was perfect and the pizza itself tasted fresh. The sauce to cheese ratio was spot on. I didn't try anything else as we were there for lunch but it was definitely worth the money. They provided to go boxes for the pizza which I brought back to the hotel to eat later. Great location at Patriot's Place, but it needs some help. The food was the real issue here. Started off with a Mediterranean salad and it was rather "canned." The artichokes were grayish in color and were definitely from a can. The lettuce was yellow and had the core too...really? After seeing a couple of rotten tomatoes on the salad next to me, I realized their quality is not a concern, but for the price it should be. The chicken parm sandwich was tiny for the price. Almost the right size chicken breast but on a too small ciabatta. The Italian panini was ok. Definitely spicy, but nothing to really write home about or on this review. Pizza crust was good, but pizza lacked some quality in the making. My formula for a 5 star rating is a pretty easy one. Great food + excellent service + very cool ambience = 5 stars. My wife and I had dinner here this past Saturday night due to the hour and a half wait at Toby Keith's. So we walk in, the ambience is very cool. The brick ovens where they cook the pizzas are to your right, very nice lighting, plenty of flat screen TV's which is always a plus seeing the Sox were on. So I asked the host if they served strictly pizza and he responded by informing me they have a full Italian menu. He also asked me if I wanted to take a look at the menu. So I looked at my wife and asked her if she wanted to give the place a shot. So I let him know there was no need to look at the menu and that we would like to be seated. I asked if there was any way to be seated at a table near one of the TV's so we could watch the Sox game. He ran through his list and replied "sure" and asked the hostess to seat us. Our hostess seats us and she also gives us our menus along with the wine and cocktail menu. As we are looking over the menu we are soaking in the atmosphere. I thought it was a very cool, chill place. Dimly lit, but not over the top almost dark dim. Our waitress comes over, who was very upbeat and nice by the way. She asked us if we wanted to start off with drinks. I ordered the Sicilian Lemonade as this caught my eye on the cocktail menu. She came back about 3-4 minutes later with our drinks. Seeing that this was a Saturday night and the place was jammin' I was impressed with that. So she takes our order. We got the fried cheese for an appetizer and I ordered the Balsamic BBQ Chicken Pizza. We get our appetizer in about 15 minutes, which I feel is standard time. Our waitress was very attentive as she asked if we need another round of drinks when she brought the appetizers over. The Sicilian Lemonade was delicious so I ordered another. We are eating our appetizer and she comes back with my drink and hot bread and the dipping sauce for it. She apologized for the delay on the bread as she told us they were baking more when we got seated. We told her no worries. The bread is sooo good. And the sauce was so delicious I had to ask her what was in it. She told me its olive oil; garlic infused with parmesan and crushed red pepper. So so so good. The fired cheese was delicious too. The sauce they give you to dip them in is very spicy, which I love all things that are spicy. Nice amount of time between when we got our appetizers and when our pizza's arrived. I have to say the Balsamic BBQ Chicken pizza was delicious. The flavor of the caramel onions they use on the pizza added so much flavor.....just really guuuuud!! So as we are eating our dinner, our waitress came over to our table 3 times to check on us, check if we needed more drinks, which I did as I was now in love with the Sicilian Lemonade. That impressed me. Usually you only see your waiter / waitress once after they bring your dinner to you in most other restaurants. As we were pretty much full our waitress asked us if we were still working on the dinner, which we replied "our eyes are still undressing this pizza but our tummy's are saying no more, no more!" But my wife asked for dessert. So our very pleasant waitress comes back with a box for our leftover pizza and a dessert menu. Crème Brulee...SCORE! That's all we needed to see. Its 3 individual bowls, each is a different flavor. So we both ordered the crème brulee. Our waitress comes over a few minutes after we order dessert and says she has some bad news. They only have 1 order of crème brulee left. She apologized but said if we wanted to take another look at the dessert menu, the second one we order is free and on the house. Wow! Are you kidding me?? I don't think this has ever happened to me before. I thought that was a real first class move by this restaurant. They didn't have to do that but the fact that they offered this, right off the bat, very cool I must say. So I ordered the red velvet ice cream sandwich. The desserts arrive. The 3 crème brulee flavors were chocolate, vanilla and coffee. All were absolutely delicious. The red velvet dessert looked really cool. I was sliced in half and shaped like a sandwich, and on each side was red velvet cake and vanilla ice cream in the middle and the bottom of the plate was drizzled in vanilla bean sauce. This was also very tasty. As we were done, our waitress came over and asked us how the dessert was. We responded promptly with 2 thumbs up. After we were done, she took our empty plates, asked us if we need more drinks or anything else. We let her know we were done for the night lol. She came back w/our check and thanked us and said hope you have a great night. I must say, all the negative reviews on this place I've read on here I find to be not accurate at all based on my experience here. Took my mother out to lunch after her vaccination at Gillette. Our server Caitlin greeted us immediately. She suggested items, which my mother decided to try. My mother has not had many opportunities with dining out because of Covid, and she was so happy with her dish. I ordered the steak tips with risotto. Everything cooked perfectly. I've eaten at Tavolino before. The food was decent, although I was unimpressed with the calamari. I don't know how my second time would have been. My brother-in-law made a reservation several days ago for tonight, to take my mother-in-law to dinner for her birthday. He received a notification tonight, hours before the reservation time, that the restaurant was holding a drunk driving awareness night, and thus would not be serving any alcohol. While I'm sure this is a good event for a good cause, letting us sit on the reservation for days without this notification is awful customer service. We were left scrambling for a reservation for a medium-sized party on a Friday night, with little enough notice that most similar restaurants were already booked up. If you're significantly changing your menu, you should notify customers when they book, rather than ambushing them the day of. read more

I visited Tavolino early in the restaurant's first Friday night. It looked 80% full and service was smooth and quick. Our server was pretty great, too. He showed up quickly with warm, soft bread (with excellent crust) and a sort of butter dipping sauce that was quite nice. The sauce, I'd expect, is exactly what you're thinking of. For appetizer, my friend and I split an order of boar meat and gnocchi. (Wild Boar Gnocchi, 8, Sangiovese-wine braised and served with fresh potato dumplings and truffled sheep's cheese) While some of the gnocchi were off-shape, there wasn't a thing I didn't like about this dish. It was light, savory and quite satisfying. The plating was also quite nice. And the few bizzarely shaped gnocchi were still cooked wonderfully. The entrees run 17 to 30 dollars, so we each opted for 'gourmet pizza' at the 12" (alt. 16") size: Balsamic BBQ Chicken, 10.50, House-made balsamic BBQ sauce with grilled chicken, caramelized onions, roasted peppers, smoked mozzarella and scallion House Special Pizza, 11, Spinach, gorganzola, caramelized onions, mozzarella, crispy applewood smoked bacon and spiced walnuts The BBQ chicken pizza could've used more of both the sauce and the chicken but I'd still get another one, it was very good. And I've not a criticism to levy against the House Special Pizza, it was nicely done. Tavolino makes excellent pizzas. Crusts are thin but firm and of a pleasant texture. I ordered Panna Cotta, 7, for desert. I'd never had panna cotta before. It was a reasonably sized half-sphere, centered in the plate, with a few rasberries, a sprig of mint and coffee sauce. It seemed like as far as panna cotta goes, it was pretty good. It was a little endearing that prices were listed on the wine and drink menu. I ordered a nice gin & ginger beer, 10, that lasted the whole meal. The restaurant looked crisp and modern, and if you're at a small, two-person tables, don't order two pizzas at the same time or it gets cramped. Overall, I'd say this restaurant would be a great place to take some friends or go on a date. Bill came to ~52 for an app, two pies, a dessert and one bar drink. read more

I was here on Sunday (7/1/12) and I have to say I was disappointed. We walked in as a party of seven, and were lucky that they were able to seat us immediately (it was 5 PM - not too busy). Everything started out very well - the restaurant was beautiful, we ordered drinks, and when they arrived promptly we ordered appetizers and food. This is where it started going downhill. Other reviewers have raved about the bread and dipping sauce, but I found the bread crumbly and bland, the dipping sauce good but not remarkably so. At least it came out relatively quickly - though, only one sauce for a table of seven people? (More came after a few minutes.) However, it was another half-hour before we saw anything else - literally 35 minutes from sitting down until we got our appetizers: bruschetta and the wild boar gnocchi. The bruschetta was diced tomatoes on top of toast: not very flavorful. The wild boar gnocchi was quite good, but not "wait 35 minutes" good. At this point our waiter was mostly ignoring our table - water glasses were empty more often than full, etc. After an hour of sitting, we finally flagged down a different server and very politely asked if she could check on our pizzas, as we hadn't seen our server in at least ten minutes, and we had a 6:30 show we were trying to get to (we figured a 5:00 dinner reservation around the corner from the show was safe!). She (and I wish I'd gotten her name) was extremely helpful - due to the open layout we were able to watch her rocket up the managerial ladder, talking to our server, the manager, and the chef. Surely, we thought to ourselves, we would get an apology, or perhaps an offer to comp part of our order. Nope. Instead the other server returned to us (we still hadn't seen our server; turns out he was also the bartender) and explained that our food had been delayed because they hadn't wanted to land the pizza on top of the appetizers. Um... what? Even if the appetizers hadn't been unimpressive and late, is that even a valid excuse? A pizza takes a few minutes to assemble and then 6-8 minutes in a hot brick oven. Even with the restaurant at least half full, that's not valid - and yes, I've worked in the industry, I can recognize a sloppy excuse. We asked for our check and had it paid (with a tip that reflected our displeasure) before the pizza even landed on our table. Our server brought it out to us (the first we'd seen him in at least 20 minutes) with a defensive "I had no idea you were going to a show". That's not an apology either. The pizza itself was mediocre: we got the house special, the prosciutto and fig, and the sweet potato and bacon. I found the dough flavorless, but pleasant in texture and structure (good baker, bad dough recipe); the toppings were hit or miss. We got out of the restaurant with five minutes to rush to our show - the only reason we didn't ask to speak to the manager. I wasn't ready to wait 20 minutes for him or her to show up. Mediocre food (with occasional gems), molasses-slow serving, and unresponsive customer service - I will not be returning. There were so many opportunities to make our experience better - even aside from an offer of compensating a portion (nice in these cases but definitely not required), I would have preferred an actual apology instead of a half-hearted sloppy excuse, and professionalism instead of defensiveness. I wish I could give one and a half stars. I wavered between one and two, but honestly, aside from the wild boar gnocchi, there wasn't anything here I enjoyed. One it is. read more

Having now moved to within a couple miles of Patriot Place, my wife and I find ourselves visiting Tavolino more and more. Everything from the polite wait staff, to the delicious pizzas, to the calm and tranquil atmosphere keeps us coming back. Each time we try and get something different, and each time we seem to get everything we wanted and more. We've tried everything from their pizzas, to their apps, and some of their main courses and never left dissatisfied. The only complaint we have had in the past was that one time there was a slight delay in a pizza, resulting in us having to see a different movie at the Showcase, but it was a honest mistake and the manager took care of the situation. But that has not swayed us from returning. The pizzas come out quickly, and are hot and crisp. My new favorite has to be the chicken caesar. I never thought having a cool crisp salad on top of my pizza would be good, but it was just that and more!. But if something more traditional is your cup of tea, you can't go wrong with their pepperoni, or Tuscan sausage. The fire grilled wings are delicious as well. I'm surprised by the bad reviews because I've loved Tavolino each and every time I've gone. It's definitely my go to Patriot Place restaurant. But then again, I love pizza, so the page long list of gourmet flat bread pizzas calls my name all the time. While they have some traditional selections, there are a lot of really unusual and refreshing choices. Everyone I've tried has been yummy. They also have a pretty extensive list of specialty cocktails and other entrees. The one thing I've been disappointed with are their salads, which is sad because nothing goes better with a great flat bread pizza than a great salad. The decor is fun and bright. While they have a bar, it doesn't seem like the kind of place to go for the bar. I do like the high top tables and the booths flanking the sides. read more

Went with the wife and rugrat before checking out a Kidville. I had the Jambalaya - it was a nice surprise. Great flavor, lots of meat, and a very nice kick to it. Wife and son had garlic pizza - they enjoyed it and stunk up the car on the way home. Service was very good and the place got packed as we were eating but thankfully it didn't affect our waittress. A little pricey but seemed to be worth it. read more
