I liked the online quote system they use, which texts and/or emails you a link to all their notes & recommended repairs. Brought my 4Runner in for an oil change and 100,000 mile service. The price was on par with other garages and the mechanic was very friendly and helpful. He made some recommendations, but didn't try to push me into anything. This is a small garage and seems like there is only one mechanic, so I suggest you call ahead to see when he can take you. I called on Tuesday and he said he could fit me in Thursday or Friday, so not bad at all. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because this garage isn't open past 5pm or on weekends. I understand that, if he is the only mechanic, but these hours may make it tough for a lot of potential customers. Over all, my experience was good and I will be coming back. read more

this place is a literal shit show. I called before going in asking if i can make an appointment for an oil change, they don't do appointments only walk ins, which i didn't mind because im near by. So i headed over there waited for the worker as he was with another client. He came up to me and asked what i needed it and i said an oil change and he said he's busy and has a lot of things to do (his words exactly) so then i said you dont take appointments only walk ins and im here and your telling me your busy? Little old guy with the glasses was so rude and disrespectful. not to mention he was changing $120 for an oil change. This is one honest review. Long has helped me in my time of need. We had issues with our vehicle and needed work done ASAP! No one else was able to accommodate our needs on such a short time frame. He after checking with over eight repair facilities in the San Jose / Santa Clara area, Taylor Automotive Service was the only shop who could get the job done. this place blows. don't bring a unique problem to this shop. they're only good for replacing parts. figuring out problems? fuhgetaboutit ! ! ! i come here with a problem. the problem? lost of power while accelerating after a cold start. meaning, after turning on my car and the cold engine warms up, it hesitates and can't maintain any speed limit. after they checked out my car, they recommended my distributor and crank shaft seal be replaced. also, my timing belt (not causing the problem but it needed to get replaced) replaced it and still had a problem. took it back and told them i still have the problem. they then recommended me to replace my spark plugs, spark plug wires and something else i can't remember. replaced it and i'm still having the problem. took it back again and i'm super unsatisfied. i've spent $700+ and i still have a problem. i'm totally pissed off right at that point. the manager and tech knew it too. i wasn't hiding any emotion. but i was calm and mature, not insane and unreasonable. i let them know that i feel like you're ripping me off. so i asked them, what's next?! the tech tells me, "i've worked on hondas for 20 years and never heard of such a problem. those years were spent at a honda dealership. the next and only thing i can think of is the engine computer. everything else looks fine". so i say "will this fix the problem?". "honestly, i don't know - but if you get the part, i'll install it and make sure you're not charged for labor". so basically, i get the part, he'll put it on. i wasn't cool with that. since i'm $700 unsure into fixing this, i wasn't willing to shell out more money for another "i'm not sure". well, if you've read my review on orchard supply hardware, you know i spoke to a more "experienced" retired mechanic who solved my problem without looking at my car. they don't even sell auto parts there! what was the solution, in case you didn't read that review, RUBBING ALCOHOL. next on the list? i'm going back to this shop this week to share them this valuable information that they overlooked 700 times. i will update this review when i have done this...mos def ! ! ! read more

Honest! Honest! Honest! LONG the owner is always so nice to me. When I first met him, I thought he looked so serious. Now, as I got to know him, I know that he is truly an experienced and a very thoughtful person. He has been fixing my cars for more than 12 year++ through 2 different vehicles. Currently, I have a 10 year old I~30 Infinity so it is time for things to start happening. My car had been making funny noises and just stopped working on Saturday night. I towed my car in for LONG to take a look at it. Later in the morning, he reported that it was the alternator again. By the afternoon, he called said it was fixed. He had also noticed that the alternator was just replaced 11 months ago and had the manufacturer give him a replacement and he installed it for FREE! Wow! This was totally unexpected! How nice! When, he called for me to come pick up the car. I said "Okay, I have to go find an umbrella because it was raining. " He offered: "Do you want me to go pick you up?" Long is the owner and a mechanic at the shop. Long not only listened to my description of the problems I was experiencing with my vehicle but also clarified with me to fully ensure that he understood what I needed help with. Throughout the process, he maintained constant communication, was thorough in his description of how he was identifying the problem, and charged a fair price. My car was complaining of low coolant, so I took it to Taylor Automotive. Few hours, and $300 later, I was told that the leak was fixed and the radiator housing changed. Two weeks later it started to complain again for low coolant. I took it back, and to my dismay, I was told that my car is old and any number of things can be leaking the coolant. I would think that once the mechanic is charging me labor for finding out the leak, he would not stop at the first leak he encountered. And to my annoyance, he wanted to fill in more coolant and bring the car back if it leaks again in next 2 weeks. I asked the mechanic how would it help any more than car signaling already about the low coolant. We could not come to any resolution, and I decided to take it to some place else. The repair shop is very conveniently located to me, but the service quality and customer service is extremely poor. I shall not be going back to them. read more

Outstanding service! Friendly and patient. My front tire had a very slow but pestering leak. Every two weeks I'd have to put in air into that one tire. When I took this problem to the Dealer where I bought the car they told me to buy new tires. The Dealership mechanics/service reps told me this after three visits. When I brought this problem to Taylor Automotive, Long took the time to explain what's required, what is the range of your options, and what it'll cost. My car was shuddering and I needed some coils replaced and I took it to a different shop and they "fixed" it although I had the same problems about 2 weeks again later. This time I took my car here, and the owner was very honest with me and helpful. He helped me get money back for the cheap parts from the first place that stopped working, and he was able to completely fix my car. He showed me evidence of everything he was replacing. I was having a problem with my truck and when he diagnosed the problem he told me I could take it to the dealer as it would still be covered under an emission warrenty I didn't even know I had. He could have just fixed it and charged me and I never would have known but he was honest and looked out for my best interests. What I like most about the service at Taylor is I do not have to go through the complications of dealing with a "service department".
