I walked into TC Rockets about a month ago after getting food next door. I decided to go in because i had been humoring the idea of getting back into magic the gathering. When i first walked in i noticed that the shop is acually bigger than i thought it would be and was jammed full of collectibles, comics, action figures And plenty of room for gaming with friends. I was greeted by one of the employees and they asked if they could help me with anything. I gave them a quick rundown on my knowlege of magic and that i hadnt played in about 12years. The level of customer service is amazing. They spent over 40 minutes going over how the game has changed and explained new rules and cards abilities. There prices are amazing for magic cards. I cant find a better deal in town. Since starting back up into magic i have visited 4 other shops and not one comes close to The price selection and service u get from tc rockets. There prices for boosters 3 for 10 out the door or a booster box for 115 out the door everywhere else charges 3.99 a pack! Ive only attended one event and although i finished in dead last it was a very pleasant experiance this is going to be my go to spot for sure! read more

This place has a good vibe and a nice collection of cards and assorted geek stuff - toys/collectibles, comics, MTG, sleeves, deck boxes, etc. I've only been to one event. It was well organized and about as efficient as Magic events go (at least non-Grand Prix events). The seating is a bit tight and some of the chairs are particularly uncomfortable, but overall, I had a lot of fun and no complaints. Plus, all of the employees were extremely friendly. They also have snacks, water, and energy drinks for sale. Just be warned you can't bring in outside food or drink. read more

This is a pretty cool little comic book shop. There aren't too many here in the San Diego area. TC's Rockets has a lot of the new releases and even some vintage comics along with graphic novels too. They have a decent selection of collectibles and action figures, but at a pretty hefty price in my opinion. They sell Trading Card Games such as Magic and have card tables in the store to allow customers to play their favorite TCG. A convenient comic book shop if you live in the area and like keeping up on the latest comic book releases or competing in Trading Card Game tournaments. Collecting action figures is my hobby and what brought me from North County to this shop, but after seeing some of the prices i'd rather spend gas money to find these figures in stores at retail price. read more

i give them 1 star because they were not rude. i got ripped off without knowing it. asked how much my 60 hologram original pokémon cards were worth they gave me $300 dollars and said it was worth $1000 at most. i came to find just 1 of the cards was worth over $1000 with no sweat from a big youtube pokémon guy with over a million followers. the whole set was worth 15x what he payed with pricing them to sell fast. please do research before selling something you got as a kid over years of buying packs. i had a emergency and needed all the money i could get by 5 pm and now the thought of pokemon makes me super sad they are unable to access records of the sale for me read more

I was looking for a specific 1/6 figure online and found one used, but in great condition being sold on eBay by TC's Rockets. The price was a bit high but seeing how this figure sold out so quickly, I wasn't surprised. While looking at the details on the eBay posting, I noticed that they were local here in San Diego and were only 15 minutes away. I messaged TC's rockets and asked if I could come into the shop to look at it and Richard said it would be no problem at all and let the guys in the shop know to set it aside for me. I got to the shop shortly after they opened, and the figure was there for me. It being a used item, the box was damaged but I pull them out for display, so it was all good for me. The employee that had it set aside, was checking to see that it wasn't missing any parts and if it was, he was going to give me a discount. Well because it was busy, and her was still helping the customer he had when I walked in, he said he'd go ahead and give me the discount and it was a lot cheaper then the price on eBay and that made my whole month. When I got home I checked out he parts list and it was missing only one small part that didn't make any difference to me if it was there or not. Id also like to mention they have a HUGE inventory inside the shop and if you're local here in San Diego or shopping online outta state, I highly recommend them. Went in here for the first time last week. I was greeted immediately as came in and was asked if they could help assist me. I was blown away by how much stuff they had in that little shop. Every inch of that place was covered with comics, toys, and art. A lot to take in. They had their nicer comics on a wall behind the register. The current books were just inside the door on the right. Also by the door there was a good assortment of dollar books next to the front door. Back issue comics were in boxes in the middle section of the store along with toys up above. There were toys and statues spread out throughout the store. They even have a back area where they host Magic the gathering game play. Also they have magic cards and supplies. There is a good overall selection and the staff is warm and friendly. I talked to Preston and he was a lot of help. I was looking for some old silver age comics and said they didn't have a lot of those and he referred me to another store. I also noticed there was several "regular" customers hanging out and it seems like a nice place to come hang out and talk comics and play magic. Prices were pretty good. I will be back and maybe bring some friends with me too. This I great spot. read more

Vintage toys galore! Finally a real store you can go to and find vintage star wars figures, G1 Transformers, GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, Mego, and tons of other cool old toys in San Diego County. The staff is very knowledgeable and super friendly. They even buy old toys and comics and also trade. Go often as their inventory changes.....I went back for an old toy I saw and it had been sold. For others who are not vintage toy fanatics like myself they have tons of comics from current issues to vintage graded gems, tons of collectible toys, and lots of gaming cards for sale as well as a room devoted to card play. This place is AWESOME!. So first thing or many. I might actually ramble on, however, this place is great. It's my first option here in La Mesa and really anywhere. The staff are super friendly and actually have knowledge of their inventory and products. Unlike some other places in El Cajon, and La Mesa. Very wide and generous amount of collectibles, (toys), and Magic the Gathering. Oh!, and comic books! What they don't have they will order. NO high pressure sales or attitude. Especially if your a noob like me. Plus they're only, like, one block away from the trolley station, and next to a bunch of other cool places. Very chill and relaxed atmosphere too. This place got me into and taught me how to play Star Wars miniatures, and let me practice with my minimal skill at the MTG. With skilled players of all levels and ages; this is the kind of place I have been looking for. Every time I pass by I am welcomed and find something new to read or play with. There's a arcade machine in the back that's free to play, and a clean restroom! Do you know how hard it is to come across a clean restroom with hot running water to wash your hands? There are tv's that play awesome shows like Star Trek, The Flash (from the eighties), and Star Wars. I could keep going for another two paragraphs, but I think you get the point. This is the place to be if you want to have fun with no attitude from staff or players. Great small community here and I can already see it becoming a great big community. =) read more

Tread carefully here, and by all means do your research. If you try to trade in your comics here, they'll tell you it's not in very high demand, and that it's in really bad condition and that they'll have difficulty selling it, blah blah blah. Then, they'll offer you like $7 or $8, and not even cash, they'll give you store credit, but that's not even the worst part. They'll not only tell you how bad it is(even though it's pristine, and give you but a few bucks for it, then you leave the store, they throw it in a sleeve and put it on display for $150. They're thieves, plain and simple. As I said, tread carefully. read more

This is my go to spot for new single issues coming out. The staff has always been friendly, super flexible with my ever changing pull list and they have a massive selection of Image, Dark Horse, IDW and other publishers. Plenty of back issues and rare variants too. The only complaint is they have nothing in trade but I think that's easily forgiveable considering the great selection they have. I've never had a bad customer service experience in there. read more

Been coming here for a while now. They started carrying more CCGs like Pokemon, dragon ball z and yugioh. Steve the owner is always helpful. Having a pull list here for your comics is great because of the discount they offer. They also can always order anything your looking for. The game room is always filled with players and everyone that comes to play is always interested in seeing new games. I can't recommend coming here enough. Parking is meh, now that there is a gym right next door. Couple fast food spots in the same plaza, TC does not allow outside food(they do sell their own assortment).
