This sushi spot is top notch. It's on the pricier side, but if you're looking for quality sushi, planning a date night, or trying to introduce someone to really good sushi, this is the place. My partner and I live nearby, so we come pretty often. Our usual order is the assorted nigiri, seared salmon carpaccio, blue toro carpaccio (more of a special occasion splurge), two orders of edamame because we refuse to share, and the salmon collar. The miso soup always hits and even the water tastes fresh. The space is small, so there can be a wait if you come on a busy time, but there are shops nearby to walk around while you wait. There's also parking inside the plaza plus street parking nearby.

I really enjoyed the ambiance of this sushi spot. We came in for dinner on Easter and the food and service did not disappoint! Servers were very attentive. Prices for food and drinks were very reasonable. We ordered baked salmon ( a dish i always order at all sushi spots). Okonomiyaki? Sp? And a few dishes togo for kids at home. I will definitely revisit. Cute spot for a date night or family dinner. Overall I was pleasantly surprised.

What a gem! I was in the area and yelped sushi restaurants--this one was nearby, so I rolled the dice and I'm so glad I did. It's a small restaurant with music playing and a great buzz--everyone was busy in the best way. The staff was incredibly attentive from start to finish. We asked the host for recommendations (nothing spicy), and we couldn't have been happier with what we ordered. You start with complimentary miso soup, which was a nice touch. Then we ordered the garlic albacore roll and the jungle fever roll--both were sooooo good. Truly unique and packed with flavor. The crunchy garlic adds just the right crunch without being overpowering....I couldn't get enough! I usually get bored when sushi is just a slight variation of a California roll, but these were anything but that. We also tried a Korean peach-flavored wine--on the sweeter side, but absolutely delicious. Our server was beyond sweet. She noticed my mom's purse on the floor, picked it up (no bad luck!), placed it on her chair, and even spent a few moments chatting with her. Such thoughtful service. Can't wait to come back--highly recommend!

My second time to Te-Buru was just as wonderful as the first. Service was top-tier, lovely seating, and infused water. They have the best Miso Soup I've tried and it was not salty. I ordered Scallop Carpaccio, Hot Night Roll, and Mango Tango Roll. Everything was fresh, delicate, precise, refreshing, and delicious. The rolls were so fat and satisfying that I was unable to finish following the carpaccio.

So happy to have found such an amazing spot while visiting Long Beach! We showed up right when they opened and they immediately seated us, asked if there were any dietary restrictions, and gave us time to enjoy their miso soup! I ordered their pork tonkatsu while my partner ordered the crunch roll and the tempura udon. The tonkatsu had two pork filets perfectly fried with the crispiest breading I've had, super savory salad, and a bowl of rice! For its price, it comes with a lot of food and kept me full for the rest of the day! The crunch roll was also nicely prepared and tasted incredible! If you're ever in Long Beach, you need to try this spot!

Came here with two of my college friends to catch up over dinner since we were in the area and craving sushi. This spot had good ratings and wasn't too far, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded, and the overall vibe was casual and comfortable -- good for hanging out and chatting. I ordered the chicken katsu, which was pretty solid. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and came with a good portion of rice and sides. My friends ordered a few sushi rolls, and everything looked fresh and well-prepared. We also shared a bottle of soju, which made for a fun, relaxed meal overall. Service was straightforward -- our waiter was friendly, checked in a few times, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. Nothing particularly stood out, but no complaints either. Overall, a good experience with tasty food and fair pricing. Definitely a nice spot to grab sushi or Japanese comfort food with friends if you're in the Long Beach area.

Been wanting to try for a while and so glad I finally did! Bowls, salad, and gyoza were super yummy! Staff was super attentive and kind. Kitchen staff is ON IT, food came out perfectly spaced out. Yummy wine and beer too.

Really glad we have a great Japanese/sushi restaurant that isn't just casual in this area of Long Beach. It's a big bummer that the Greek cafe that was a staple here is gone, but this is still a great restaurant to have in its place! Came on a Saturday night and there was no wait (although it got a lot busier by the time we left). Ambience inside is really nice, which you wouldn't really be able to tell just driving past this place--there's a big projector screen playing sports. Water is lemon and herb infused, and you get free miso soup right off the bat as an appetizer. There's also a limited amount of seats at the sushi bar right in front of where they're making it. Also love that there's plenty of outdoor seating with heat lamps! The sashimi tasted pretty fresh and high quality and fresh and honestly the price was pretty reasonable as well. The menu is quite big and has a good amount of non-sushi choices for someone who doesn't like raw fish, if needed. Definitely want to come back and try their Katsu dishes. Would definitely be back if I wanted some sushi or Japanese food and wanted something more upscale than just casual dining. Highly recommend!

Our server was very fast, nice and hospitable (didn't get her name but she was a lady wearing all black). She checked up on us frequently and even fixed up our table as we took pictures of our food. The restaurant itself was clean, well decorated and felt intimate. The food was great. The fish on the assorted nigiri tasted fresh and were good sizes. The soft shell crab tempura were nicely sized also, exceeded expectations. Oysters are always good. Fresh and seasoned well. Unagi bowl came with so many things, definitely gonna come back for it again. Great experience overall!

After an awful experience at Juicy Dumpling, we had to find something good. The A-hah! Service is on point and they were very tentative. Food was prepared and ready quickly without sacrificing flavor and quality! Katsu is a must have and the uni is amazing. The okay has to be the Bixby. Don't get me wrong, all of the fish is super fresh and amazing, but Bixby needs texture, maybe some crunch. The shut up has to be the cilantro in the Salmon lovers. Cilantro took away from how good the salmon was. I'm going to have to order this one without cilantro next time.

This is a cute little casual sushi place in Bixby Knolls. The staff is super welcoming as you walk in and are very attentive throughout your stay. A friend and I shared the 15 pc assorted sashimi board, edamame and a side salad that was big enough for two. We each also had a beer and I had a negitoro hand roll. All was under $90, which I think is pretty reasonable. Everything was super fresh and the beer was nice and cold. Pros: *You get miso soup and a jug of water for the table as soon as you are seated. *Convenient parking *Outside seating w heaters available Cons: *We felt like we were being rushed to order when we arrived. We were approached every 2 minutes to see if we were ready, when we were not. They ended up getting the point, but it was a bit frustrating at first. *Restrooms are outside of the restaurant. Overall, although, it did not become my new favorite sushi place in Long Beach, I would love to go back and try more of the sushi and rolls.

Te-Buru has some of the best sushi in Long Beach. Their scallop and toro nigiri were our favorite bites of the night; however, all of the rolls that we had were flavor bombs as well. Not only did they taste good, but they gave solid quantity for their price. I'm glad that we have a local option with very good quality sushi!

Some friends and I stopped in for a nightcap. It happens to be first Friday which I was told it's like a street event. People out and about and restaurants participating. Basically a regular night except more people out and about enjoying themselves and some restaurants with music. Assuming... Anyways, they're open late so we just wanted to pop in for a beer. It actually took a while for someone to actually come greet us. We wanted to be outside but we were told that they were short staff. Ended up seating inside which was basically outside with the open air feel. It's a sushi restaurant, which the menu did look great. Ended up just stopping in for a beer which our friend told us they had a matcha beer. I personally don't like matcha but did have a little taste and it was quite nice. Very odd to have matcha and beer together but it did work. It just resembles green beer like it's Saint paddy's Day. With our beer, ended up getting some oysters and the sushi nachos. Presentation was both really nice. Oyster already had all the dressing on it so it was easy just to enjoy it as it was. The sushi nachos, with spicy tuna was great. All seasoned and mixed well with everything and served with wonton chips. Food was actually really good nice. Service was great even with short staff. It's a nice cool spot with both inside and a nice patio. Also, matcha beer was quite good.

Didn't enjoy the scallop handroll as much; however, they had a scallop sashimi appetizer this month that was amazing. The appetizer had thinly sliced hotate (Hokkaido scallops), seasoned with yuzu and it was delicious. Also ordered a soft-shell crab appetizer and we appreciated the meatiness of the soft-shell crab. While it was sometimes difficult to get the attention of servers, we felt the quality of the seafood was pretty good here. For this reason, this is a really welcome addition to the east long beach community and I'll definitely be back!

I don't feel that asparagus should be anywhere near a sushi roll, but that was my bad. Also ordered their Yuzu cheesecake, which was a no for me. I would come back to try other items, but I do not suggest getting their dessert or their long beach roll.

While HiroNori is a SoCal chain, it still feels like a mom and pop restaurant. The crispy rice with tuna was EXCELLENT! Everything you want from crispy rice and spicy tuna. The tonkatsu was delicious! Great depth of flavor. They bring you garlic and spicy paste on the side. I had to add A LOT of spicy paste to get it up to the level I wanted, but while at other restaurants I've lost the broth flavor when adding too much spice, the spicy paste just enhanced the tonkatsu broth. The reality is that this restaurant is just adding frivolous fees on top of already expensive, overpriced food and drink. It is incredibly disgusting that management wants to pass their extra operational expenses directly onto the customer because they refuse to pay their employees what they are worth. I've had a wide range of their sushi rolls and nigiri, and they've all been amazing. Some standouts: Salmon Sample, Aburi Miso Salmon, Toro, Salmon Lemon Roll, and Yuzu Roll. My favorite appetizer is the Agedashi Tofu. The flavors are insane! They also have a "bento box" type of option where you can choose two or three items for a great price. This is a great option for non-sushi eaters and sushi eaters alike because the options include chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, tempura, and several roll options. Service is usually pretty good. They have some outdoor seating available in front of the restaurant, which is lovely during good weather. A great place for a solo dinner, date, or a friend/family dinner.

Was craving sushi this day and decided to stop into Sushi Beluga for the first time. Great reviews on the quality of their fish. A bit expensive, but wanted to try what the chef would recommend, hoping that it wasn't too busy, so could strike up a conversation and learn some things. I stopped in about 5 minutes after their posted start time (12:15), and there were already two tables seated at the outdoor patio, so a good sign. The single server was busy servicing one of the tables. So I walked by her, going inside. It was empty inside, except for the sushi chef who was busy working. Asked him, if I could sit at the bar and he said sure: "Anywhere you like". So I sat at the bar spot closest to the wall, not wanting to hog up too much space. All the place settings had been set for each spot, and there were paper take-out pamphlets that doubled as menus, so studied that for a bit. Soon the efficient waitress came back, noticed where I was sitting and promptly brought ice water without a word and left. I kept studying the menu. She came from behind with an 'excuse me', and proceeded to stuff more paper menus into the slot to my left (filling it up), making me move. OK, so I must have sat in a bad spot (no reason to fill up a slot that already had menus, especially when she seemed busy). So I moved one spot over. The waitress had come back from outside passing by, and I let her know I had a question. Without missing a beat, she gave a quick 'Just a minute', and right back into the kitchen. She came out a bit later with drinks for the table outside, right by me without a word. At this point, I addressed the chef right in front of me, to ask him what he recommended (just to see if he spoke). He was straight to the point, saying the king salmon, spanish mackerel, yellowtail, and seabream. So I knew I wasn't going to get any detailed conversation, but told him I've never had seabream before (to be honest, I didn't even know it was a fish). He said it was mild fish, similar to amberjack. So that helped. He then asked/told me "You don't like salmon". Thinking back, maybe he wasn't asking a question, but I took it as an opportunity to discuss, so told him I much prefer tuna, and asked him. He mentioned he had toro and bluefin, so I asked him the market price for the toro, which he knew (too high for me). Then I waited for the waitress. She came back and asked if I had made up my mind, never acknowledging that I had asked a question before. So I placed my order and she left. As she passed again, I said 'Hi' with a raised hand , but she didn't hear it. I was irritated and said loudly, "Hello!' as she went to the kitchen. This time, she came back out. I asked to add a bowl of white rice, and her response was 'You want it, NOW?'. "No, with my food, please". It was clear the chef was just ignoring what was going on. So I stewed and thought about just standing up and leaving (glad I didn't). Instead, I moved myself to a table inside facing a window, so I could at least have something to look out at while waiting. Nobody said anything. Each of them had a job to do, and woe to the customer if not understanding who does what. The waitress was efficient, keeping my water filled, and bringing out each dish immediately as the chef finished, telling me what it was. And I have to admit, the dishes were marvelous. It came in this order. Amberjack Crudo ($22) - loved this. It was 6 pieces of buttery hamachi, dressed in a ponzu sauce, with crunchy flakes on top. Would have loved to know more about this, but as the menu didn't describe, who else would I have asked? Octopus Karaage ($9.99) - so much better for me than takoyaki, mostly tenacle with a light batter, well deep-fried. Really enjoyed it. Bluefin Tuna ($9.99) - didn't look as pretty as others and looked a bit old, but it tasted fine, with no sinew. The two nigiri pieces had a very generous amount. Steam Rice ($2.50) - wish it had come at the beginning, before the crudo. Spanish Mackerel ($10) - two nigiri pieces and it was a revelation. Neatly made and dressed, it still had the distinct flavor of mackerel but was a lot more buttery than any other version I've ever had. Don't think I can go back to the cheaper cuts often served for sushi specials at other places. Seabream ($10) - two nigiri, first time and won't be last. It's a great sushi fish, mild and smooth. Was the one time when the waitress advised, "don't dip in soy sauce, it's already dressed". I kept my interaction minimal at this point, no acknowledgement unless directly asked a question, moving my empty plate to the end when done, and presenting my credit card when I wanted to pay. I don't mind minimalistic service when the food is this good, but the service (of both) was really, really poor.

(i think from the ponzu, i LOVE PONZU)! every bite was BURSTING WITH FLAVOR :') incredible combinations. chef's kiss. parking is on the street, so it CAN be tricky to find a spot... but the area is lovely to walk through, especially at night! we were told the meters aren't active after 7pm and parked in a 25 minute loading zone spot with no problems at all.

I did not come prepared for a chilly night. We were supposed to just have coffee and go for a walk, but we needed a warm place, so we stumbled upon this place. It's actually pretty good. We sat at the counter/bar. The servers were nice. What we got: Salmon/tuna poke bowl: quite yummy. A mixture of both salmon and tuna in a great poke sauce over a bed of rice and salad. Salmon skin salad: if you like salmon skin, this is yummy. A perfect crunch seasoned really well to complement the bed of greens. Furikake fries: thinly cut potato's with furikake seasoning paired with a sweet mustard dipping sauce. I would have enjoyed more Furikake on the fries, but that's just me. This place has real wasabi if you ask for it instead of the watered down stuff you usually get. It's actually pretty good! Overall great food and great service. I'd come back for sure!

And eating sushi spots through Yelp is even more difficult because imo what people think is good sushi is subjective lol. I am pretty darn picky, I want the fish fresh period, and the size of the bites correct. This experience was for my bday and I had 3 teenagers with me so we opted for rolls because this isn't AYCE and I didn't feel like dropping $500 on nigiri! Rolls are a bit more cost effective especially when my son and I are eating. The rolls we got: PS Roll, Candy Cane, Caterpillar, Tsunami, Lynn (didn't try this one: as tempura and cream cheese just isn't really my thing), Incredible Roll, Cali roll (this was for my daughter, who isn't into sushi. She got this and ramen-forgot to snap a pic). Everything was delicious! Wait staff is extremely friendly, helpful and very efficient! This place is usually poppin, and most of the times I did have to wait for a table (but this is a GOOD sign in a sushi spot!) Empty restaurants scare me a bit, but especially a sushi spot! On other occasions, I have had there nigiri, sashimi plates... and I have never been disappointed! Def a go to spot if you're in the area!

While curry is their specialty they have other items such as udon, teriyaki, and donburi bowls as well as a few typical appetizers such as tempura and karaage. The restaurant is not very big but has a fair amount of tables. Its style has a mix of modern and traditional Japanese elements with lofi music playing in the background. We were given a friendly welcome upon entering and the service was great. We started with the mixed tempura which was light and crispy - a perfect starter that won't fill you up. For dinner we tried the beef curry and chicken katsu curry. Both were delicious. I had the chicken katsu. I really liked the breading as it was light and crispy - not too thick or greasy. The sauce was also rich and flavorful. I made it a combo which includes miso soup and a salad of choice. I selected the cucumber salad which was a little sweet but refreshing with the meal. I hope to try their donburi next.

I called it in on a lazy Tuesday after hiking. Food didn't take that long but I like that there was a wait because I know it'll be freshly made. When I walked into the restaurant to pick up my order, inside was cozy and I noticed that it was pretty busy for a late Tuesday lunch. A really nice young woman who rang me up and handed me my bag of goods. When I got home, I was pleased to see that they had separated the Katsu from the curry sauce, so my meat didn't end up being soggy. Their curry sauce is different from most curry houses. There are some herbs in it that I can't put my finger on, but I love it because it's not like any of the others. Chicken was juicy and rice was fluffy. I also like their kizami ginger which had a nice solid crunch. Even though it took me a while to pick up my food, it was still nice and warm when I sat down to eat it. Very happy with the presentation and the flavour. We'll try to visit and eat at the restaurant next time. Parking lot is small and can get a little crowded with all the other businesses open. But there is also street parking available. Also, because it's a Japanese restaurant, they are not open on Mondays.
