First, the young lady who helped me order was super nice. They have a picture menu on a tablet so you can see all of their offerings as well. Second, it took less than 5 minutes to get what I ordered. There is no seating, it's all food to go, but they do a great job with packaging. I personally didn't love the scallop roll BUT the sashimi - oh my goodness! It was so fresh!!!!!! Every slice was delicious and buttery. Perfect texture. Also, their prices are extremely reasonable. I am so glad I just discovered this takeout Sushi restaurant. Searching for poke actually led me here, but when I browsed the menu, I ended up ordering differently and it was delightful. This place is strictly pickup/takeout. No tables. Walk up to order on kiosk (card pmt) or with staff. Staff was available for any questions or if I needed help. I found the kiosk (there is only 1) easy to use. It took about 10 mins for order to be ready. I waited outside with a few others. Tip optional, but I appreciate the choices were 5, 10, 15%, custom or none....much more reasonable considering this is takeout. They do work hard and fulfill orders timely. Located in a small strip mall, there was plenty of parking when I arrived. This is a great alternative to a busy sushi restaurant when you are just looking for a takeout order. I was stuck on anaheim street while my car was being serviced at a garage. It was the middle of the afternoon & I hadn't had lunch. Yanagi was a short walk away and I tried them for the first time. I found their teriyaki chicken bowl to be absolutely delicious. the miso soup was a large serving and also very yummy with plenty of seaweed and tofu. It was a delicious lunch! i don't find myself on anaheim street in long beach very often. But this is really good food. the only drawback was, I was hoping to sit down and eat inside the restaurant and they do not have any dining tables. read more

All 7 times I've ordered, I received my food in less than 30 minutes of ordering, the package and attention to detail is top tier, the food always tastes amazing and they never leave out items. I finish everything, every time and I am honestly one of those people who pick at their food and leave food on my plate but not when I order here. I needed a quick snack and wanted to patron one of the local restaurants, and scored with a 5 star class act. Every dish was beautifully packaged and sealed. The chopsticks, soy sauce and napkins was packaged in a seal clear package. I tried the shrimp tempura it was packed with flavor cucumbers, avocado. Fresh and delicious but the topper was a splendid homemade mayo eel sauce I had to lick the container wanting more of scrumptious sauce. Magnificent. Next I tried the salmon baked roll. Let's just start with how supple soft and fresh and juicy the salmon was. Inside this roll crab, avocado, and I later discovered this wonderful roll was doused in their homage dynamite sauce simply delicious. Major disappointment! The husband and I wanted some sushi and our usual place wasn't accepting orders in DoorDash. Opted to try Yanagi after seeing all the rave reviews. Unfortunately it was a huge miss. The 12 piece assorted sashimi looked worse quality than what you would get at HMart. Fish were paper thin, you could see the light through them when holding it up. We also ordered 2 rolls, the Yellowtail Cilantro and Salmon Lover. Pitifully small and lackluster. No flavor whatsoever and the included sauce for the yellowtail cilantro roll was super sour. I opted to add sriracha on top for both to at least give it a more spicy kick. You can even see how thin the slice of yellowtail is in the roll. We also ordered the plain udon for our toddler and tofu with spicy garlic sauce. Nothing to write home about. Perhaps if you dine-in the portion size is better? Not bad for fast food sushi. Came across this place on grubhub, they had a coupon going on and I thought I'd try it out today. I placed my order for pick up and it was ready once I got there. They have a small parking lot shared with other businesses and inside it was really small. I noticed there were no tables to dine in and it was mainly a grab and go type of place, hence the location used to be a Little Caesars. My suggestion if you are ordering for pick up is to place the order close to when you're getting there, my order was sitting at the counter in room temperature for quite some time. I got the salmon lover roll, yellowtail cilantro roll, and rattlesnake roll. The salmon roll was tasty but really really really was missing like more than half the amount of fish that they advertise. The yellowtail roll was okay, maybe my least favorite (shockingly). The ponzu had a bit of a vinegar taste that wasn't ideal, so it was probably better without it. The rattlesnake roll had stale cold eel on top. Broke apart for most bites. Would be better if it tasted fresher. I want to preface this 3-star review by saying that this is specifically about Yanagi's sashimi plates. Everything else is for sure 4-5 stars! I have been frequenting Yanagi Kitchen in Long Beach for the last 8 months and I have really been enjoying their food. The quality of their fish is fantastic and the staff is very friendly, which is why I feel bad leaving this review on Yelp, but unfortunately I couldn't find a contact email on their site and their Instagram doesn't look very active, so I'm leaving this review in hopes that Yanagi's management sees this. Over the last 3 weeks the sashimi I have been ordering from Yanagi has been very disappointing. It seems like the fish portions got cut in half and the attention to detail and preparation of the sashimi plates is being done by someone who either has very little experience or doesn't care at all about the presentation of the dishes. Please see the photo my $18 salmon sashimi plate order from today vs what the dish looks like on the menu. I was shocked when I opened the bag this evening. It almost looked as if the salmon was missing. The fish was cut paper thin and avocado was bruised and frankly, not that tasty. I really do love this place and I hope me bringing this to the restaurant's attention will make them take notice and act on it because I eat at their establishment 2-3 times per month and think it's some of the best sushi in Long Beach, but the last couple of orders have made me contemplate finding a new sushi spot. read more
