They seem short staffed like a lot of places these days. :( Got an oolong cheese foam, and was disappointed it didn't come in one of those cups where you can sip directly through the hole. We found this place on our retail therapy app and got to try it this past weekend! I saw pictures of their matcha dalgona series and really had to try it! The combination of puréed mango and condensed milk mixture at the bottom was delicious! Definitely the most unique thing in a drink I've had! I believe there are other locations in the So Cal area as well. No matter where I go to get boba, I always have to get a milk tea. Therefore I got a black milk tea with assorted boba and the Taro Fluffy Matcha with boba. The milk tea was tasty but the Fluffy Matcha was a delicious dessert and a drink that must be tried. They have craft boba here which is basically boba of different flavors. Not the popping boba but the chewy kind. Service was great as well as everyone working here patiently helped me decide what to get. I've been to this location multiple times and it is a decent boba spot. The drinks aren't always consistent and its a bit on the sweeter side. I ordered the strawberry fluffy matcha and the okinawa latte. The strawberry fluffy matcha drink is pretty good but runs a little on the sweeter side. The strawberry taste definitely overpowers the matcha flavor but it goes well together. The okinawa latte was surprisingly good, the tea was more on the stronger side and it had a roasted tea taste to it. It is a nice spot to check out if you like drinks on the sweeter side and enjoy getting toppings. They have flavored boba for the drinks which is different from other boba shops. read more

I have tried the other fluffy matchas but mango is my go-to. The employees have always been very pleasant during my visits. You can def taste the tea in your first sip. I got 100% sweetness and I wished it was a bit more sweeter. Their boba was also old tasting. You can tell by how chewy the middle part is. Their drinks are also a bit pricer - $6.25 for this one, but there's a Yelp check in with a 15% discount to help with that. Overall, Tea Maru didn't satisfy my boba cravings. Wow, I am impressed with the drink from Tea Maru. This place is worth the hype. My friends ordered strawberry fluffy matcha and I ordered Mango fluffy matcha. The matcha is actually fluffy. I think the drink is supposed to be mixed? but I like drinking each layer as is by moving the straw up and down to each layer while I drink. The mango was not too sweet and I paired it with mango boba. The mango boba is not popping boba but it's actually boba with some mango flavor, which is way better than popping boba. Taro storm- I've gotten taro drinks at many other boba shops but this was a huge let down. It had chunks of ice and no taro flavor. It was just blended milk with ice. Super expensive too. Such a hidden gem!!! - we just tried this place and instantly it became our favorite. I got the fluffy strawberry matcha and it tasted like strawberry milk (not really any matcha flavor but we didn't mind). We also got the Oreo slush and it was good but didn't really get chunks of Oreos like you would at other boba places. The flavor itself was still really nice. The boba is so fresh and u can see them making it in house. I will say that they stick to the bottom a little. We came to check this place out on the grand opening date, so it was BOGO free. The uji match latte at 25% sweetness was a good amount and went well with the boba. The mango jasmine tea at 25% was very bitter. I'm not sure why, but the tea seemed much more bitter than normal tea. I didn't really taste the flowery notes that jasmine tea usually has. I'm sad to write this because I haven't been back for several months, but throughout this time, I've been hyping up Tea Maru to my friends. I've always loved their wintermelon tea latte, and my boyfriend enjoys their matcha drinks. I just came back today, and I now understand some of the low-star reviews that they have because I definitely think the quality has gone down. I ordered the wintermelon tea latte today with brown sugar boba. When I got home, it tasted strictly like milk with no wintermelon tea. I went back, told them, and the guy behind the counter incredulously laughed and said, "it tastes like milk??" He grabbed the guy who originally made my drinks and also told me that the wintermelon tea latte does not come with tea. He pointed to the symbol next to the drink's name and said, "see, look no caffeine." I honestly was so confused. I know that wintermelon tea is not caffeinated, and I've had this drink many times before. There is definitely usually tea because the drink usually comes out with the tea and milk unmixed. He told me that all they can do is add more sugar. They both asked if I wanted to swap my drink for something else, but I asked them to remake it, which they did. I appreciate them remaking my drink, which tasted slightly sweeter due to the extra syrup they added, but I will not be coming back or recommending Tea Maru anymore. They make their own boba here. You can see the machine in the front. I love the quality of the ingredients. Mango jasmine tea: Refreshing, floral, and has mango pulp at the bottom. You might need to shake this drink a lot so the mango mixes into the tea well. I drank all of the mango at the bottom and only tasted the tea later. This place opened up fairly recently, so you know I had to try. I got the Okinawa milk tea with boba 75% sweet and it was perfect! The tea had a strong roasted brown sugar note which I loved but the brown sugar taste was not too overpowering. I could definitely still taste the tea in there. The boba was super soft and chewy and it was sweet to taste. They make their boba in house here, and you can definitely tell. It tastes super soft like the ones you make at home if you've ever tried to do it, but also it's not like the one you make at home at all. Basically it's the "restaurant quality" of the typical homemade boba lol. The only downfall to this place is the prices. A cup here can easily put you at $6+. While I enjoyed the drink I got a little bit more this time, it still does not come anywhere near the level of when I went to their SGV location a year ago. I decided to order online this time so I can't really comment on the service. I decided to get the Oolong Tea Latte with Brown Sugar Boba and the Mango Green Tea with Mango Boba. The oolong was solid. Exactly what I'm looking for in an oolong milk tea. It had a nice roasted tea flavor and was sweetened just right. On the other hand, the mango green tea was not good. I can definitely tell that they don't really know how to brew tea properly because they over brewed/steeped this tea. How do I know? Upon first sip, it was instantly noticeable. The tea was incredibly strong but not in a good way. I'm a fan of strong robust tea flavor for my boba drinks. However, I am not a fan of poorly made tea which is what I had here. The green tea was seriously super bitter and pungent. It also did not help that it tasted like it was barely sweetened. Maybe it was sweetened properly, but because the tea was so bitter, it overwhelmed my mouth to the point where I couldn't taste anything else. I ordered both teas at 100% sweetness level so there shouldn't have been that much of a difference. Moving on to the topic of boba... I'm not sure how they messed that up either. The boba at the SGV location was always perfectly sweetened and cooked. Soft but still had the right amount of QQ chewiness. The boba today was faintly sweetened/flavored and it tasted undercooked and old. Biting into each pearl I was met with a slightly undercooked center which made it unpleasant to consume. Both the brown sugar and mango were like this. Although I did enjoy the oolong tea latte, I don't see myself coming back as the drinks are more expensive than other places. The quality control is simply not there even after 6 months of opening. There are so many boba places that are worth your time and money. read more
