First time at this location. It's located at the end of a food hall off spring street. It is a. It hidden tucked away in the corner so you have to be on the lookout. Their "housemade boba" is great! Very soft, chewy and sweet. I ordered a Maru milk and a classic green tea and both drinks were great. The tea taste was just right and the balance of the milk with the brown sugar and cheese foam was perfect. I enjoyed my time here. Will be ordering from you guys again. Tea Maru is in the Corporation Food Hall, a small food court in DTLA. There's no seating and parking can kinda be a bit of a pain. The service took awhile but I think it's because there was only one employee working (he was super nice though). I was excited to try the teas here, especially the housemade boba. I ordered the taro iced milk with 0% sugar. Not sure if my order was wrong but the drink was very sweet. It was tasty though. Also the boba is definitely high quality and super chewy. My friend got the uji matcha latte which had more of a milk flavor than matcha but it was still good. If I'm in DTLA (and not driving) I'll stop by again! read more

So happy that Tea Maru opened up in DTLA so we can get better boba without having to go all the way to SGV. For those not familiar with Tea Maru, they are popular for their different colored/flavored boba that's made in-house. And by boba I mean the actual tapioca balls. In my personal opinion, the colored/flavored boba is just for aesthetic reasons as you don't really taste the "flavor", at least not for the strawberry and sweet potato ones. However those were the only flavors they had on the day that I went. I got their standard tea latte drink which is just a milk tea with cheese foam on top. I totally forgot to ask for less sugar but it actually wasn't that sweet which was nice! The drink options had a very limited menu at this outpost (this location is just a stall inside the corporation food hall) compared to their store in SGV so not much to choose from if you're picky about getting a certain flavor. Also, the pricing ranges from $5-$6 for a regular size which I guess is the norm nowadays. Other than that, I was happy with my drink and am glad that we have a decent boba option in DTLA! read more

DTLA is in dire need of more boba spots, so I was really excited when I heard Tea Maru was coming to the Fashion District. I believe they're still in their soft opening phase so I wanted to cut them some slack, however I'm hoping some constructive criticism will help improve once they're actually up and running. This location is a small stand in the back of the Corporation Food Hall. Visually it's a bit of a mess with a ton of delivery signs littering most of the counter. There's a tv screen displaying pictures of the drinks, but I wish they would use it to display a menu. As of now, there are only 9 menu options (which I'm assuming will expand later on). I opted for the Maru Milk, which I got plain since they were out of brown sugar boba which was..... extremely disappointing. They did offer the sweet potato or strawberry boba instead but those didn't sound appealing. I ended up paying $6.56 for a cup of iced milk with extremely thick caramel syrup. It looked absolutely nothing like the photo displayed on the screen and even after vigorous shaking, didn't really blend. I know being in downtown = paying the extra FU rent tax, but I felt gypped. I might give them another shot on a different drink, but if you want to drink overpriced milk, just go to Bristol Farms where you can get an entire gallon for less. read more

Service (5 stars): Ordered and picked up via ritual and my order was ready just as I arrived. Plus extra points because they read the notes section and didn't put any ice in my drink as requested! Uji Matcha Latte with boba and herbal jelly (4.5 stars): I got this with no sugar and no ice and I could really taste plenty of matcha flavor coming through. But the highlight of this place is the tapioca balls. I didn't think I'd ever say this sentence but it's even better than Boba Guys's balls. House made boba that's on very good. I retired as a self appointed boba connoisseur long ago, but this spot has been so good I had to make one last review. All the boba here is house made and it's just on a different level. Soft but never gewy. Firm but never hard. Sweet and sometimes flavored. Most other boba usually has one inherent flaw that I always assume could never be avoided given it's other characteristics but some how they broke the boba code and found the boba balance. I only write reviews if I have a REALLY bad or amazing experience. This is for a bad one. I love Tea Maru and always stop by their 626 locations whenever I'm in that area. But since I live in downtown, I decided to give this new location a try.. a big mistake. I ordered 4 drinks that I usually get from Tea Maru in 626 and asked for 75% sweetness. They all tasted EXTREMELY bland like it was watered down with barely any sweetness/flavor. It just tasted SO different from what I usually order in the 626 locations. This was the most horrible rude customer service ever! Customer Service and problem solving are met factors to a thriving business as being a fellow entrepreneur. I order a Strawberry Blast with Boba on 4/24 after 9pm when they were apparently closed. They are located inside the Food Hall on Spring St in a huge food court. Their light was still on and the self serve tablet to order was still on. Obviously I thought they were still open. The guy on the next food kiosk said they closed at 9p right after I ordered. I returned 2 days later when I could either get a refund or my drink made. The guy was SUPER RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL! He yelled at me and stated they close at 9p, was super cold, did nothing thank me, make eye contact, and threw the drink at me and walk away. What the hell was this guys problem? He was not the owner. I started coming here a month ago regularly. I will never return again and have posted unfavorable reviews. Customers make mistakes, but we spend our money on their product. Went here around 9 pm. I had a boba craving and I was sooo happy to see a new boba spot in DTLA! We tried the Maru milk and mango! Both we got with brown sugar boba. The other options weren't abalone for some reason. Both were bomb, but I would say the Maru milk is more Decadent and unique. Seating is communal within the Food Hall, so it can be a great hangout spot with seating both inside and within a covered outdoor patio. My sister ordered Door Dash and one of the drinks in question was the "Classic Tea with cheese foam". I've had this drink numerous times but today it tasted really off. It tasted like the cheese foam went bad as it smelled rancid and had a sour taste. I hope I don't get sick from this. After nicely explaining the situation, the girl who was assisting me seemed like she really didn't care. She said the cheese foam is really "fresh" and it was made about 3 days ago. I don't know if it's just me but I would assume the cheese foam is made fresh daily and 3 days seems like a time window to dispose of any remaining batches. She said she will ask her manager if they can refund it but I find it so upsetting that this would even be a question. She reluctantly said "sorry about that" but didn't seem too genuine and hung up. I tried their maru tea and holy smokes, it is DELICIOUS!! Their homemade boba has a perfect chewiness and it is also sweet! The container is a bit squishy which made me happy because I always feel bad trying to recycle the thicker boba containers (I don't have enough space to keep them to be reused unfortunately). I came in with a friend on June 27th at around 3pm and I had the uji matcha latte. The drink itself was awesome, great flavor and it was the perfect level of sweetness. The boba has a great texture and was delicious. My friend also enjoyed their drink. I knocked off three stars because of the service. We stood at the counter for a good five minutes with no acknowledgement. It made for an uncomfortable experience. We had to almost shout (it was loud inside) and ask for a menu from the person working who was ignoring us. He seemed really irritated and was very rude to us... we weren't sure why. To be entirely honest, it was pretty disappointing. I'm used to the good service and fast drink orders at the original Tea Maru location. BUT I'm going to try to give them the benefit of a doubt, by hoping that it's just due to the new location, new staff, and lack of training. Plus, I think it's still in its soft opening phase. When I arrived, it was obvious that the staff were being trained. This could explain why the drinks were taking so long to make. No one else ordered (or was in the process of ordering) and it was pretty dead at the time, so they weren't making other drinks for other customers. My food from Buddha Belly was cooked faster than this drink was made. As expected the boba was made fresh and the consistency and texture of the boba itself was superb. However, I can't say the same about the drinks themselves. The sweetness seems inconsistent between drinks in this particular location. There was also a surprising amount of ice and a large gap between the lid and the top of the fluid (see picture). To be fair to them, I forgot ask for less ice. But besides filling it up with ice, they didn't even fill the drink all the way up Service was a bit odd, they were polite, but when I paid with card, the cashier didn't press the button to prompt the tip and signature. So all I saw was a page showing our order and a bunch of other buttons. I didn't know what to press because well, it didn't prompt the tip or signature yet and was on the screen/page prior to that. I assume that's also just due to staff training reasons Quality aside, this location is much smaller since it's located inside Corporation Food Hall. The seating is shared with the rest of the establishment. I'll probably try again in the future and update my rating if there are improvements, but as of now, it will stay at 3 stars because it definitely doesn't live up to my expectations based on the original location. Parking can be difficult to find on the weekends since Tea Maru is located in downtown LA inside of Corporation Food Hall. They have a small stand inside of the food court located at the back of the store on the left, and offer a limited selection of drinks. The one thing that sets Tea Maru apart from many other bubble tea shops is that they make their boba fresh in house. This allows them to offer several unique boba flavors such as strawberry and sweet potato among others. However, this makes the price for their drinks pretty steep starting at $6.25 before tax if you want boba in your drinks. I got their Kiwi Citrus with strawberry boba, and was not impressed. The drink was your typical green tea with kiwi, and the strawberry boba did not have a strong strawberry taste to it. The service was also not very helpful or friendly, and were unable to answer questions about how to redeem the Yelp check-in offer. Overall, I would not return since their homemade boba doesn't really stand out, and you can get better bubble tea for cheaper prices elsewhere. read more
