Tried Tea Monks last weekend while we were in Carlsbad. Our family loves bubble tea so while at mall we thought to give this new place a try. We ordered blended smoothies: Matcha, Horchata and Mocha and everything was delicious. Their boba tasted fresh and chewy and the sweetness was perfect as per our order. The staff was really friendly and courteous. My daughter accidently spilled her tea but the girl at the front desk made a new tea for her at no cost. The ambiance was nice, and the interior is really cute. If you love bubble tea and I would highly recommend this place. read more

While the ambiance was cute and the staff was friendly, this is the most disgusting Boba I have ever had in my life. My daughter said hers tasted like soap, And the only thing that had positive good flavor was the popping Boba. My daughter threw out her tea and ate the popping Boba, while I dumped my entire tea and Boba after two sips. The Honeyboba were undercooked and hard and both teas tasted chemically. Perhaps we have been spoiled by good Boba places the past few years, but this was a total let down and a waste of $14. read more

This place is okay. I have been here twice in the last 6 months and today since I was in the area and it was hot I got a strawberry matcha with boba, which was good but sweet. The customer service is always lacking here though. The first time I was here a few months ago, the one girl was talking to one of her friends and it was like I was inconveniencing her by placing an order. Today the girl making the drink seemed so bored with her job and life! I get it, it's food service, but no one here, in my experience, makes an effort to be welcoming or even friendly. Not one smile. I've been craving a boba drink since we got to SD. While shopping at the outlet mall, we came upon Tea Monk. Ordered the zen Thai tea with honey boba and what a disappointment it was! Was not sweet at all. Not sure if they offered sugar level but was not asked either from the cashier. Wasted $6 because I threw the drink away. Will not be coming back here for sure! read more

We love the tea and boba here! The honey boba tastes great, and we usually get lavender or black milk teas. So tasty! HOWEVER, the service here has been the absolute worst. The first couple of times we came here, great service, but recently..... just a bunch of stuck up teenagers who stand around talking and walking to the back as the line builds up out the door. Do you guys read the orders? Can't get a drink order right to save your life. Not even the correct size. I went to this place more than 10 times already. Love the Milk tea and tea. The Blended Drinks is not consistent in the blending. Some ice chunks in the smoothies. I would only recommend the milk tea and their teas only. Their large size is huge! I haven't seen a boba place with that big of a cup! I would come back here again each week. read more

The kiwi lemonade was good, but they had no boba, so I had to use poping boba. I also wish they had smaller cups.

I was hopeful that this place would be good because the photos they had on their stands around the Outlet looked good. My drink was ok. This should have been a 3 star review but the customer service was pretty bad. The workers there didn't seem to really care too much about making the place a friendly environment. Just kind of negative energy in there. Aside from the energy, the employee who answered my question didn't really seem to know what was in all of the drinks. When I asked her what was in one of the drinks, she seemed a little hesitant and slow to answer as if she was trying to remember. And to be honest, I don't know if she really knew in the long run. Because of this, I decided to go for a different drink that had the ingredient directly in the name so I knew what I got. tbh worst thai tea i ever had.. tasted like water and had 0 sweetener. asked one of the girls to add more sweetener and she just added more of the watered down thai tea. my friend had gotten a lemonade and it was delicious but i would definitely not bring myself to order the thai tea there again. read more

We went to this mall just for some boba and left highly disappointed. The service was awful it's just a couple of teenagers in there who have never been taught what good customer service is. When ordering, the girl who took our order started having a side conversation with her co worker and then ignored us during the end of the ordering process as we stood there waiting for her to acknowledge us. She didn't, we walked away confused. When I picked up our drinks as I was trying to say thank you to the grumpy teen, he looked at me with zero expression on his face and did not speak a word. We ordered two drinks, the tiger and a matcha. The tiger was good but the matcha didn't even taste anything like matcha. It tasted like dirty tap water and a hint of banana, we could not even drink it. It was disgusting. I don't know what happened when making that drink but we will not be returning here.
