We ordered the crispy chicken, seasoned fries, milk tea boba, green apple icy. Not sure if it was because we went close to closing time, but the food was terrible. One of very few late night hang & healthy sip options in Pasadena - so that alone automatically earns a star!!! Be warned that this parking lot is a beast - if you can park on the side street and walk over. Good selection of milk tea options ... Smaller selection of regular tea choices and Lattes. The table next to us ordered this amazing looking Mound oh goodness - when we asked them what it was they said it was COTTON SHAVED ICE - by just looking at it I went to heaven and my friend and I knew we were going to come back just to order one of those!!! There was so much on the menu and so many people in line that it was too difficult going through all the milk tea choices, so I stuck with something basic. I really enjoy it here! I go to PCC so I always go here and it's a cute place. Great to sit in and read or study while eating. Or to just hang with friends is cool too. I love the boba here! Came here to get in an afternoon of studying. It was packed but there is plenty of seating so I was able to find a spot. The parking is a little tricky since it's a small lot but there seemed to be a lot of turnover when I arrived so I was lucky to snag parking quickly! I ordered the Thai tea with crystal jelly, half sweet, and the Taiwanese minced pork over rice. The Thai tea was still pretty sweet for half-level, almost normal sweetness, but I have a sweet tooth, so it's not the end of the world haha! The food and drink came out very quickly and I was excited to try the food. Unfortunately the minced pork was EXTREMELY salty. I may have hit my daily recommended value for sodium by consuming this meal LOL. There were lots of mushrooms, which I definitely enjoyed, but hardly any minced pork. The steamed vegetables were probably the best part of the meal since they were not overcooked and served as relief from the salt. As for a study spot, it's pretty good. There are outlets and a lot of tables. The wifi connection here is not the best. Things like sifting through Yelp photos took a little while to load. Fast enough to get work done though! If you're someone who needs absolute silence to study though, this place may not be it for you. There's music playing in the background and a lot of noise from the kitchen and other restaurant patrons who aren't there to just study. It is a milk tea cafe after all. A really nice place, good for takeout or dining in you name it. The food is pretty good, the drinks are pricier than the average boba place but it's good. It's across the street from PCC so there are a lot of college students. They have a daily special meal where you get a free drink which is what I do for lunch. Really nice that this spot is open so late. The inside was a bit smaller than I thought, but there are a decent amount of seats. The cashier tonight was super friendly, I really liked her! We got a small shaved ice (base: thai tea, no sauce, fruit: mango, topping: rainbow mochi) for about $7 and a coconut milk tea for around $4 with 50% sweetness. The shaved ice was really big! I'm glad we only got one to share because there's no way I would've finished it on my own. The drink was also really tasty, I could really taste the coconut. This place cracks me up for so many reasons. P.S. to k.h. below: I'm pretty sure there is something else on the menu called a smoothie... I still don't know what the snow bubble is. Food: I'm not sure if Tea Spots hopes to be a restaurant, but it's about nine tenths of the way there. As indicated in the name, they serve drinks. I'm not even sure what made this drink a 'snow bubble' milk tea. Perhaps it was the large amount of ice. They carry a large variety of other drinks (milk teas, thai teas, and smoothies) in the usual Asian flavors delivered in zodiac themed cups. In addition to beverages, you can order snacks or a full meal here. One can seriously indulge all senses here, including the desire to scald off your taste buds with the spicy chicken (as indicated with not one, but eight chili peppers next to the name). This stuff was freaking intense. The bag was coated in jalapeno juice and seeds, massive quantities of raw garlic, and chunks of fried popcorn chicken. My boo and I had to order another drink just to stop the burning. Maybe that's their marketing strategy? We also ordered a veggie platter that came with what they said was meat sauce. They have free wifi although during peak hours when the students are out, good luck finding a seat. I don't think I ever waited 25 minutes for ice tea but I did. Long waits piss me off, but once I took a sip of that sweet pineapple green tea with mango poppers it made everything ok. Tea Spots has been open for 2 months now, and has all the ingredients to conveniently cater to PCC and Caltech students: Free Wifi + plenty of seating + coffee/tea + food For those of you who want to study current events, their US and People magazines will keep you up to date with the latest gossip. Right now they have grand opening "happy hour" specials where pot stickers, eggrolls, taro mochi balls are 99 cents M-F after 6pm. Their regular menu includes the typical milk teas, coffees, snow bubbles, chicken drumsticks, bbq ribs, and several rice dishes. I opted for the Crispy Chicken Snack ($3.50) and Jasmine Milk Tea (regular $3). The crispy chicken snack is everything chicken without the crispy. It comes as cubes of white meat chicken, coated with a seasoned breading, fried, then sprinkled with your choice of spicyness (mild-medium-spicy-extra spicy). "Spicy" wasn't too spicy. "Crispy" was not crispy. But the chicken, tastes like chicken! Pretty good chicken indeed. As Toni L. mentioned in her yelp, the milk tea was mysteriously very white....it's more like tea milk than milk tea (if that makes sense). Regardless, I was still able to taste the blossoming jasmine tea flavor that I adore. I think food is okay but the student-friendly atmosphere gives Tea Spots a major plus for business. Review solely based on their mango "cotton"/"snowy" ice. This is different from Taiwanese shaved ice - of which the ice is much more coarse. The mango shaved ice was way too sweet in my opinion and definitely not as fine as the ones you'd find in Class 302. However, given that it's cheap. A large ice is $4 and that comes with 3 toppings. $2 extra if you want fresh fruit. I think the sweetness came with a misunderstanding in the order - the ice was flavored with mango and we added condensed milk and boba. So, try to make sure that you get a non-flavored ice if you're not into hyping up your system. Otherwise, free wifi, awesome lounge sofas and tables. Love the free magazines and games. Large space and plenty of stuff to order from. And their milk tea is $2.25. Just look for this place right across from PCC. read more

Parking can be difficult, I recommend parking on Hill or Harkness and run/walk over. I think their popcorn chicken isn't good. If you want to get popcorn chicken I would recommend making your way to the AU79 down the street. The teas here are much cheaper compared to AU79 and I think their drinks are comparable. Both places make their drinks sweet and would recommend getting half sweet. I've picked up lunch here a few times during break at lunch and find it's a good alternative to AU79 if I want anything other than the popcorn chicken. I personally like the Taiwanese sausage & the spicy beef noodles they have here. I do not recommend the Thai style udon. The Thai style udon tastes like udon in tomato sauce. Will not get that again. The beef noodles are spicy and they don't adjust how spicy it is upon request, so only get it if you like spicy food! They have lunch specials where you can get one of the rice plates along with a free drink sometimes (green, black, or oolong). read more

Love this place! I go here every other week at the very least. Milk teas, green teas, black teas are all great. Good location right by PCC, but the parking is HORRID. There's no way around the bad parking, aside from pure luck. But inside, there's so much seating! including booths and couches. Free WiFi is a plus also!! I try to get a different drink everytime I go and they've all been good! Their boba and mini boba are both really good. Some places have really sticky and hard boba, but this place makes it just right. They make it fast too! They have extremely friendly service that gets your order ASAP. One time I went with my sister and they got us our drinks before we even got to sit down! Their foods good too. I can't eat spicy food, but they can make everything mild enough for me to munch on. We sometimes just grab a side of fried tofu, squid balls, or sweet potatoe fries to even out the sweetness of the milk tea. Also, their new "Five Star" idea works great, I've got a bunch of points on my card, just from ordering drinks so often! Not only do they have the best Boba tea on Colorado, they also expanded to include some great Asian food fare. Go to place for egg rolls, fried mushrooms and good Ramen. I'm always surprised by mediocre tea places. I mean how hard is it to mess up boba and flavored tea? It genuinely confuses me since I know pretty much all these tea spots use syrup as a main flavoring agent. Do they just have bad syrup? Or is it low quality tea? Anyways, we found ourselves at Tea Spots because it was the only place open at the time and I'm sure that is one of their main draws. And the fact that they are located right across from PCC. The place was crowded and it was almost midnight when we went. We ordered the Peach Green Tea half sweetened with boba to share. It was not good. It had zero flavor and basically tasted like water. I don't know if it was flavorless because we asked for it to be half sweetened but it honestly shouldn't make that much of a difference. If they are cutting corners by watering down their tea, that is just bad management on their part especially since they are already getting plenty of customers. I live in la crescenta so teaspots is pretty far. However i think its worth the drive here. Theres alot of seating available but on busy days, like finals or midterms week the seats fill up pretty quickly with college students from right across the street. So i went back because i swear, their food is like crack - and I ended up bedridden due to MSG poisoning for 2 days. Their Beef Noodle Soup is the BEST i have ever tasted, but it caused my mouth to dry out, and my heart to palpitate, and my skin itching -- it was pretty bad. I am certain most restaurants put MSG in their food, but the reaction I had was pretty awful. (I had the beef noodle soup and the fried chicken rice, and the sausage, and dumplings, and shaved ice). ***PARKING SUCKS!*** I come here whenever I'm at GoFresh next door (which is the bomb diggity by the way) and don't feel like stopping at AU79 down the street for a drink. The line is usually not very long, sometimes even nonexistent. Even when it's busy though, the line goes fast and the orders are filled quickly, too. My go-to here is the Jasmine Milk Tea, sometimes with mini boba. The tea is grrreat, very refreshing, and the boba has a great taste and consistency (and I'm not much of a boba fan!) They do have the fat cups, like Half & Half, but I prefer this place over H&H hands down. I take one star off only because it's sometimes uncomfortable to walk in here, because of some customers. Students come here to study, and on more than one occasion I've walked in and had people stare/glare up at me from their books or laptops. It makes you feel like you're intruding on their studies by coming in. Sorry for being thirsty! Sheesh.. But despite that, I'll keep coming as long as long as their drinks stay good. :) read more

There is a large selection of teas, coffee, slushies, smoothies, food, snacks, icy, etc on the menu. I don't think the quality of this place is the great though. The teas aren't overly priced but there's many other places I prefer. I've tried the chrysanthemum tea with honey. The honey isn't even real honey. It's like watery honey?? I like Tea Spots for their good service, drinks and as a study spot. There is one girl with bangs who always smiles (edit: her name is Tina I believe!) and takes the order in a professional way. They're very fast and prompt with orders even if the line gets a little long--once you order it, you can expect it fairly quickly. I honestly was skeptical about the place because I tend to judge boba places by how cute they are and the interior isn't really my style--looks a little cheap but it doesn't affect the quality of the service or food/drink. I also tend to think boba places don't have restaurant-quality food but to my surprise, the fries, rice plate and wonton noodles I ordered on different occasions were really good. The way they package the to-go stuff was also good--everything was secure and with good presentation. I've only had one drink mix-up where they got the order wrong but the employee was new and still being trained so if they mess up, be in doubt. Good flavored green and black teas that keep me awake at odd hours of the night (or should i say morning?). I prefer the iced green lychee tea. The happy hour appetizers are a great deal: 99c pop stickers or egg rolls. Its even better with ssssspice. Be cautious with the regular dishes though. I think the quality of the food went downward from when they first opened. Everything is sloppy and blah! They're open late and they have free wifi, but then again most places have free wifi. One thing that did bother me from my study sesh was the mistreatment of the workers. I constantly heard the owner and a senior associate constantly nagging at the newer associates. Uh, uh, not cool. Boba! I love me some boba and their boba is always good -- nice perfect chewy texture, perfectly cooked. I also love that they're open late so I can eat great, even late (wait, is that Taco Bell's slogan??) Parking is hit or miss. Sometimes it's empty and sometimes it's a hot mess so I either double park and block everyone or park next door at Carl's Jr or Jack in the Box and hope for the best that they don't tow my car (hasn't happened yet). Make sure you open a Five Stars card which is their loyalty program (you just give them your phone number every time you purchase and they will record it for you). For every 10 drinks, you get 1 free! Woot-woot! I've already gotten 2 free since me and the bf are always here. BF loves their spicy chicken nuggets (but he also always says he has "low class" taste) and I'm not crazy about it (tastes cheap and store bought but the BF also says I have "high class" taste, so take it for what it is). Ok, this place really deserves five stars, but there are just a few things that make me weary of coming back.... Most important is parking. Tea Spots has a very tiny lot to be divided between Tea Spots and maybe 3-4 other places. What's even worse is that there are so many places nearby, some of the customers from other restaurants/stores park in the lot as well. I got stuck behind someone, waiting for someone else to go into their car and leave. The lot was so small I couldn't pass them, and before I knew it, two cars were behind me so I couldn't exit. I was stuck for 20 minutes or so in the blazing heat, not fun. And....there's no parking nextdoor, so unless you wait for someone to leave or you park far away and walk here, you're out of luck. Also, the drinks tend to be just powders and milk, and the one I got (Strawberry Milk Tea) was just milk, nesquik, and boba. This is typical of most boba places, but somehow I expected better. Now for the great, amazing parts about Tea Spots! The boba they use is incredibly soft, chewy, and fresh. I've tried a lot of boba places, and their boba (the boba itself, not the drinks altogether) is the absolute best I've ever had. Their food is very good as well. Right when you walk in, the delicious aroma of their wide assortment of meals and snacks embraces you. Watch out for the spice though. I asked for medium spicy and my mouth burned really, really badly. Do not take their spiciness as the typical American wussy spiciness. Take it as the Vietnamese, hot will be hot-as-burning-hell spiciness. It took a lot of sugar and milk to get the burn out. The food tasted amazing though. I mean c'mon, my mouth was on fire yet I kept stuffing more delicious food into my mouth. If I come back again, I'll just be sure to not order spiciness or ask for very mild. I go here WAY too much. I think it's affecting my health. It for sure is affecting my wallet. But the drinks taste way too good. It's not premo by any means, but it's tasty for what you get. I never was into boba before, but I found my go to drink of choice. The thai tea smoothie will have you popping stomach boners left and right. I usually ask for it with a sealed lid because the smoothies typically come with a bubble lid. But they fill that shit up to the top so it gets kinda messy. Fuck it, I'll lose a bit of drank to stay clean. Although one time I sneezed inside my ride and drink got all over the place. Shit was sticky forever. That one was my fault. Anyway, they have a rewards program called Five Stars. Every drink you get is one star on your account. After 10 stars, you get a free drink. But like a cheap drink valued at like $3. So sometimes you still gotta pay something (booooring). But for 30 stars, you get a free T-shirt. So yeah, it took me about a month to get a shirt probably valued at $10, but now I proudly rock it to bed and the gym. This place has tons of menu selection, price is not bad. Just aware the qualify is not the same as those found in las tuna or valley restaurant. The Hainan Chicken I order cost about $6.50 comes with some steam vegetable, rice, soup and the chicken. The chicken isn't anything special definite not as tasting as other place. The ginger sauce is excellent. The rice is overcooked (using the cheap long grain rice. Waitress speak fluent english but there's only 1 waitress in weekday lunchtime.
