This review is based on the tea alone. I was looking for some tea shops besides boba on the way to hiking and found Tea Xotics on Yelp. The shop is sooo girly, boho, and cute! The tea selection was insane and they also have self care items for sale. Soaps, skincare, cute cards, and of course all things tea related. The best part is the drink menu, which was customizable! Dark Cocoa-nut Matcha 3.5/5* This confused me when it came out. I thought it would be green and most matcha with a sprinkle of cocoa, but it was the other way around. It looked and tasted like a mocha. I couldn't taste the matcha or the coconut at all since the dark cocoa overpowered in taste. Dirty Chai 5/5* Wow so creamy! They use Clover milk if you get the regular milk choice. The chai tea was superior for sure. You can taste all the spices as if they were freshly ground. The drink was aromatic and so divulgent. They are truly accommodating to various dietary restrictions. Any drink can be made sugar-free with a variety if milk options to choose from. I asked for Stevia, thinking that was the only sugar substitute they had, but the barista let me know they had monkfruit sugar. They have monkfruit sugar!! Of course I opted for that, making my drink low carb but deliciously enjoyable. The price is a bonus also. Very reasonably priced considering the quality and customization. A drink like this in midtown would cost $10+. Such a great stop if you're heading to/from Apple Hill or hiking in the area. They have PAGES of tea to choose from, matcha, and even coffee. Terrible customer service. I was in store Friday afternoon, two employees working but we're so busy talking to a friend that I was just a nuisance. I wanted recommendations and even after asking twice I was told all the teas in the bags packaged are popular. My daughter asked to make sure the rings were the price written above, she said they were, she went to buy it and the price was alot more expensive.. same girl she asked said they are actually a higher price.. i went and looked and sure enough the price said a lower price. So, we returned it. My sister in law was with me also and felt the same.. the customer service was horrible. This shop is just awesome. I stumbled into this place by happenstance. The coffee place I usually go to had a line out the door with no sign of movement. So as I was walking empty handed back to my car, I eyed Tea Xotics. They had a sign in their window stating they serve coffee. Well then. I beelined into the shop. The two people working were so fun and welcoming. Instead of my boring drip coffee, I decided to get something different. The staff provided recommendations. I got the pumpkin spiced coffee. It was prepared as a pour over. It tasted nothing like a flavored coffee... which was a good thing. It tasted AHH-MAZING!!! Rich vibrant coffee with deep true hints of spices and pumpkin. The shop also had a variety of olive oils, artisanal gifts, and you guessed it... teas!! Lots and lots of tea. It is loose leaf and some are prepackaged in resealable recycle friendly packages. I bought the moonlight vanilla chai herbal tea. The 1 oz package was $7 and contains about 8 servings. It smells fantastic and taste soooo delicious. The package has the steeping instructions ( 4 minutes with 195 degree water) written on it. Perfect. The shop has a few bistro tables out front on Post Street to sit n relax.They even have an entrance in the back of the shop from the parking lot which makes it super convenient if you just want to bop in & out quickly. read more

The owner, white lady, was super rude and racist. Will never be back here ever again. My mother, husband and daughters were shopping and my daughter dropped a non breakable item. The owner yelled at my 3 year old, and did not address the 3 other adults that were with her. I was in the RR when this happened. When I came out, she was way too close to my 3 year old and she still did not address any of the adults. I had to ask her to back up off my child. My husband left upset with my child, we paid and were walking away when she decided to add more commentary, to which I had to defend my family. It is never ok to do that to clients. If my child would have broken something, which she did not, we would have paid for it, no questions. I would suggest you the racist, miserable looking, old hag owner to take some customer service and management skills training. read more

Very disappointing visit today. Cold and windy outside so my Sweetie and I decided a nice hot cup of tea and a cookie inside at this nice little shop would hit the spot. Selected our teas, decided on size and choice of cookie. While I paid, Sweetie grabbed napkins and went to the small seating area (one table) to find a sign saying we could not sit there. The sales person notified us that that area is the 'employee breakroom' and that another staff person would be using it for their break. So, our only choice was to take our teas and cookie and go back outside into the wind and cold. This won't be a problem for us in the future as you will find us at the really nice little coffee/tea café a few doors away (they have lots of tables). We won't be returning to Tea Xotics - ever. read more

I wish Tea Xotics had a store closer to Sacramento! They would do so well in downtown, or Ice Blocks, or Old Sac. There are tons of special teas and vinegars, and gift boxes. This place would be my go-to for unique gifts, and different teas to try for myself! I wanted to look at and buy everything but we were a little short on time so we just grabbed some drinks to-go. My husband had an iced Brown Cow coffee. It was definitely on the sweeter side and tasted mostly like a chocolate milk! If you like sweet drinks, that one is good, otherwise it's not a great option if you want something strong. I couldn't decide on a tea so I asked the cashier what kind of matcha drink she liked, and she suggested one of their "breeze" drinks which come with freshly muddled fruit, and they're not even on the menu! She quickly listed off which fruits they had available so I picked guava. It was such a refreshing drink and the fruit definitely adds sweetness to the matcha which is naturally stronger and more bitter in flavor. A lot of fruit drinks tend to separate after a while but this one stayed mixed even after sitting out a while. This shop is on a cute little street so I hope we get to come back when we have more time to explore, so I can bring home some different loose leaf tea! read more

Good evening Renee, Your response is quite disappointing and similar to your other responses on Yelp and Google that were 1-2 stars. As a business owner, you have not taken accountability for the treatment of customers, which signifies your lack of empathy in these scenarios. Back to that day, upon arrival we were the only customers in there. A female customer came in who was a regular, we realized she knew exactly what she wanted so we asked her to go ahead of us since we were browsing the menu for some time. This customer was very kind and even offered her recommendations, she got her drink and left. There was another female customer that came in, bought loose tea leaves and left after her purchase. Before we left, there was a young couple who came in ordered and left in their truck (we left shortly after them). This day is vividly clear in my head and at NO TIME was there any disrespect on our behalf. There was no laughter AT your employee, but her assuming what we could afford was something we did smirk about. I'm very disappointed that you believe this review to be untrue and that I have the time to pick a business to write a negative review on (I have never in my life spent this much time on reviewing a business). The reason I'm putting time into this is because I believe that not speaking up is the problem in our world. It's not okay for your staff to treat us this way, we were paying customers. I hope you have cameras in store that have volume because I can 100% guarantee that we were respectful customers and "your regulars" didn't witness any rude behavior. They have the best coffee/ teas in town!! If you're a matcha girly you'll absolutely loveeee the coconut grass skirt. The flavors are insane!! Really, really cool place. As someone who knows nothing about tea (I'm all about coffee), this place was a little overwhelming with all the options and selections. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and guided us through their tea menu, describing different types of teas, what their benefits are, etc. We ended up getting some drinks - I can't remember what I ordered but it was some lemon matcha vanilla drink, and it was incredible. Their ginger cookies were amazing, too. They also sell candles, oils, vinegar, tea accessories, and they do sell coffee, as well! Will definitely come back here and try other things. Hated the drinks and as an asian woman i dont appreciate the weird fetishization/exoticization going on here with the name, branding, and products. This place is the Dutch Bros of herbal teas (aka, a whitewashed TPumps). I've solely tried their matcha (specifically the Snow White, Lemon Truffle Matcha, and matcha lemonade at a friend's recommendation), so limited scope of review, but the only flavors you could taste in all of those drinks were syrups and artificial flavors. None of them truly tasted like good matcha. Store decor is cute farmhouse vintage, and they have retail sections for beauty products and tea kits. The dishes themselves are all weirdly ~Oriental~ (teapots with asian paint designs, ramen bowls and chopsticks, etc.) and not a single asian person works there. Amazing small business run by a mother daughter team. The owners are the sweetest, kindest people as are all of their employees. Their teas are absolutely amazing! They take pride in what they do and their ingredients show it. The balsamic, olive oils, and honey are amazing as well. My kids drool over Renee's seasonally flavored pastries- so yummy! Mini Botanical Tea Box: Includes 1 Serving each of #116 - Egyptian Hibiscus #117 - French Lavender #118 - Organic Chamomile #119 - Organic Peppermint #120 - Golden Chrysanthemum #123 - Wild Rose (1) 2oz jar of Super Berry Honey (6) Eco Tea Filters I decided to try the peppermint and chrysanthemum teas. Both had great flavor. One minty and the other floral. These were loose leaf teas, so I got to make myself a tea bag with the eco filters. An interesting experience. Especially tying it. The tea was great and the two younger women working in the store were very helpful. But we were profiled by the older white lady who worked there and it was pretty blatantly obvious and very uncomfy. I walked in with my sister - we were the only two in the store at the time. We were perusing the shelves, lookin at all the pretty oils, bracelets, earrings.. and the older lady asked if we had any questions (this is not my first time being followed around a store so I understood what she was doing). We said "nope no questions, just looking- thank you". Well, about 3 minutes later she reappears, pulls out her cell phone and begins taking pictures of the items in the area we are standing in! She is so close to us my sister is nearly in the pictures. We look at her and awkwardly shift away a bit and she says "oh, this is how I take inventory it's just easier so they don't have to count anything" !!! We were like uhhh okaaay.. and oddly enough once she's done taking pictures in the one area we are in, she disappears and doesn't "take inventory" in any other areas of the store 1- that's not how anyone does inventory 2- this is not my first rodeo as a brown woman with a full sleeve tattoo and resting bitch face 3- El Dorado Hills, man. 4- not sure how more obvious she could have been The tea I purchased was delicious but unfortunately I don't feel comfortable going back.
